Australia - Upgrading CS4 Design Premium (Student Edition) to a commercial version.

Hey guys I have been searching for an answer for this question for some time.
I am still a student but friends and family have asked me to do some work for them and I want to do it legally as I know I am not allowed to use my Student Edition for commercial purposes.
Basically I have come down to the conclusion that I am able to do so according to this page: http://www.adobe.com/ap/education/students/studentedition/faq.html
It states:
"Can I upgrade from a Student Edition?
Yes, a Student Edition can be upgraded to a commercial version."
This forum has been really helpful so far just would like to clear this up.
Most importantly how would I go about upgrading to the commercial version and how much in $AU?
if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!

yea I already know that In Australia your not allowed to use it for commercial work. It says on the box and in the documentation.
Have rang up two Adobe Gold partner software licensing companys, explained my situation and they seem to know what they are doing so just waiting for them to get back to me with the information and most importanly a quote on how much to upgrade.
Said it was just for personal use and only I will be using the programs so he said he will try find out the cheapest option.

CS4 Design Premium Student Edition will not even begin the installation process

Help!
I have bought CS4 Design Premium Student Edition, I received the serial number okay, tried the installation process but stupidly hadn't quit a programme fisrt. I tried the process again but the SetUp window says 'Loading SetUp' and I get an 'Installer Alert' window pop up with nothing in it. I can't quit the Installer and have to Force Quit.
I've tried the CS4 Clean Script and it finds nothing to remove. Having spoken to Tech Support I tried CS3 Clean Script and it removed certain items, but the CS4 disc still won't work.
I have Photoshop 7 installed, would that be interfering?
What else can I remove before re-trying the installation of CS4?

I have tried shutting down and restarting and just a simple restart.
The guy from tech support didn't tell me to do that when I was trying the clean script stuff the other day but I've tried it sonce and there's still no joy.
Does it sound like I've got something preventing the installation process from starting if I get a blank 'Installer Alert' window appear?
Calling Adobe Support is such a pain. No answer for hours....

Lost serial number to install CS4 Design Premium Student Edition

I had CS 4 Design Premium Student Edition installed on my computer and a cs 5.5 software update installed. I reformatted my computer and updated to a newer OS. Later I tried to re-install my software and realized I lost my serial number. I cannot install the cs 5.5 update without having a previous version of CS installed. Does anyone know of a solution to this? I tried calling Adobe and they instructed me to use the chat. I'm still waiting for a response on chat, but I thought I'd post this while I'm waiting to see if anyone has any suggestions or ideas. I'd prefer not to update to Creative Cloud yet.

Yay! A guy in adobe chat was helpful retrieving it. Hopefully everything will work fine now.

Commercial use of Acrobat 9 Pro included in Creative Suite 4 Design Premium Student Edition

Hey!
So I have bought CS4 Design Premium Student Edition a few years back and I'm still a student by the way.
As far as I already know, prior to CS5 Student Editions were eligible for commercial use only in North America, but - does Acrobat 9 Pro still count as an integral part of Creative Suite? It can be bought separately as well.
The thing is - I wanted to convert a few PDF documents to fully featured forms for someone and sell them, because I own a licence of Acrobat Pro. Can I do that? Or does commercial use only refers to my own business and I can't sell the outcome of my work to someone else? How exactly does this work? I'm outside of US and I don't even know if I can count Acrobat 9 Pro as eligible to perform commercial work.

Time limit to purchase CS 4 Design Premium - Student Edition

Hi,
Is it true that the CS 4 Design Premium - Student Edition is only available till the 30th september ?
If it's true I have a problem with that because I'll change my PC to a MAC in next 6 month so I would like to know if in the student edition there are both the PC and MAC versions of the CS4 or I had to choose it right now ?
I post my question here because I can't find a Adobe email contact and I have no more credits on my phone to contact them.

Design Premium Student Edition help..

I've contacted Adobe for my serial number to activate my Design Premium Student Edition. It's been more than 4 days since I sent them a ticket but I haven't received any replies from them. I've used up the 90-days trial period and now I can't use any of those apps coz I don't have a serial key. And I need to use them for my assignments. Help please, how do I bug Adobe so they'll respond to my ticket a.s.a.p., like right now. I really need the serial key urgently!

Still no responds from Adobe..it's getting very annoying. From the packaging of the Student Edition that I purchased, it asked me to register at Adobe UK. Is Adobe UK down or something? I don't feel valued as a customer at all. This has gone for more than a week and still no respond from their party.

CS4 design premium student licensing, surface pro 2

back in 2009 i bought cs4 design premium package(windows) for school. two years later my computer was badly damaged and was wiped clean of all software and never used again. i now have bought the surface pro 2 and was planning on dowloading my cs4 for work on the go, but i have a few questions.
below are a few questions with added detail that i would need answering if i am to proceed any farther.
will i be able to download my cs4 design premium onto my surface pro 2 through an online download if i purchased the disc version back in 2009, or do i need a cd to usb device to dowload the software?
- only downloaded the software once on my old computer before it was damaged.
I lost the coupon/serial code, is their a way for me to find it again or redeem it.
- cs4 was downloaded onto my old windows computer, but the computer was badly damaged and the hardrive was wiped clean.
- before the hardrive was wiped my brother made a backup (would i be able to retrieve the code if l search through the backup?)
- when i first registered cs4 i gave a lot of personal/contact information, would this help me redeem my code?
- purchased cs4 at my schools book store. (don't see this being a problem, but thought i should add just incase)
- still have all the disc's and cd case, just lost the little piece of paper with the code.
will i be able to upgrade my cs4 to a more up to date software like cs5 or cs6 without the code?

No serial, no install, no updates. It's as easy as that. And forget about trying to retrieve your serial number from a backup - that's just not how it works. It's genuine cryptography and you probably missed the critical parts, anyway. For anything beyond that, you realyl have to call support. Yes, there is a chance they may have your details because with S&T editions registration is mandatory to obtain a serial and they should be listed on your Adobe account already. Otherwise just ask them and be persistent.

Nach erfolgloser suche nach informationen zum Upgrade von Adobe CS4 Web Premium zu Adobe CS5 Web Premium, blieb mir noch das Forum übrig.
Ich besitze seit kurzem eine Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium Student Edition Lizez. Laut Adobe Grace Period steht mir ein kostenloses Upgrade auf die Version CS5 zur Verfügung. Jeoch WO kann ich dieses Upgrade anfordern?!
Wäre sehr froh wenn ihr mir weiterhelfen könnt!

Upgrading CS4 Design Premium to CS5

Hi All,
I recently purchased Adobe CS4 Design Premium with the free upgrade to CS5 Design Premium. I'm using a Mac Pro (2.66Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon). CS4 is currently loaded, but I'm holding off loading my copy of the CS5 upgrade until I've read whether there are any known issues to consider (I also have some important work to finish before I start dabbling). Have any of you taken the plunge already?
Is there anything I should be aware of with this system set-up?
Should I uninstall CS4 before loading CS5?
Should I first upgrade the Mac OS to 10.6.3?
Will upgrading the OS to 10.6.3 affect CS4 if I leave it on the computer?
Any suggestions from graphic design professionals would be most appreciated.

Hi Tom,
We have exactly the same spec, 2.8 8 cores and 30" LCD's.
I also got the free upgrade. I've still got CS3 and CS4 loaded, so if you get a problem with something in CS5 you just open in CS4.
All that happens is that documents will open in the latest version when double clicked. You have to right click and open in a lower version if you choose.
Bear in mind though that things created in a later version cannot be opened in a higher version! esp Indesign, Illustrator, Flash etc.
I'm using CS5 everyday, the normal stuff we use every day works fine, no problems and nothing will hinder your work. Obviously there is loads of stuff in the apps which we haven't even looked at or used yet because of time.
Few kinks are:
Indesign - by default it has all the new measurement and guide lines turned on, they annoyed me so I turned them all off. A bug is that you can't turn off the new frame highlighting but Adobe are aware of this and it's discussed on their forums. Everything else, including all menu items seem to be in the same place.
If you are exporting a big pdf, it seems very very quick but this is because it has background processing now. If you try to close the document straight after saving the pdf, it will come up with a note saying 'process in action' or something. Good feature if you want to carry on working.
Also, remember to change the preflight settings to include RGB images and colour as it's not on by default.
Indesign also forgets page window sizes so if you had two documents open side by side, next time you open them it's forgotten this whereas CS3 used to remember. THis is a bug.
Illustrator - Same as Indesign, you may want to turn off all the stuff you don't need in preferences, remember to turn on scale stroke widths etc because its off by default. In Illustrator you CAN turn off frame highlighting (shows a different team works on this!). And they STILL have not added a shortcut to place an item!
Photoshop - All more or less the sae for day to day use. It is faster when running on a 64 bit Mac. Loads of new features, but the ones we are used to are still there, and where you expect them to be.
Dreamweaver - This is the one with flaws. It forgets ftp login details and the new live site view has problems. If you open a file up it can hang for ages if you have used a direct link to the jquery site for the code, (you need to keep code locally, better practice anyway), and if you use live site, it has a big flaw with the related files. If you hover over them you'll see it thinks some are in the wrong folder. If you try to edit them it says it doesn't exist, but this is because its looking in the wrong ftp folder! You have to manually open it, which kind of makes related files redundant.
Away from the live site feature general web updates and static sites etc is the same, the UI is now consistant with the other apps, its just the ftp details being loss each time on relaunch that is annoying.
On all apps, by default they have a pointless application bar which uses space, I turned this off.
There may be others which I havn't come across yet, but I use it daily, there isn't anything which should stop you installing as far as I'm concerned.

Upgrade CS4 design premium to CS5.5 standard, what happens with my web apps?

I'm planning to upgrade my CS4 design premium to CS5.5 design standard, but I still like to use Dreamweaver from the CS4. Does anyone know if this is possible. I've chatted with an Adobe sales employe who said I can only upgrade to CS5.5 design premium in order to keep using dreamweaver but I read that other people are using different versions of CS simultanously on 1 computer. Any thoughts?

I respectfully disagree. The license includes a stipulation that you can continue to use the earlier version during a transition period. There is no set time limit there. I have CS3, CS4, CS5 and CS5.5 installed.

Upgrading CS4 Design Premium to CS5.5 Design Standard

Hi.
I'm currently running the CS4 Design Premium software on my mac, but I want to upgrade to the latest software while I can still get the education price.
This time, however, I think I will get CS5.5 Design Standard rather than Design Premium to save money as I don't use Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks as often as I do the other programs.
So, my question is: If I upgrade Bridge, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to CS5.5, and Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks stay as CS4 versions, will this cause problems, or will they still be fine to use together?

My understanding of educational pricing is that it works for the first purchase of a Creative Suite product. Adobe is very generous because it lets you keep the product after you leave school.
However, there is no such thing as an educational upgrade price. If you want to upgrade your software, you pay the same price as everyone else. Upgrade pricing show shown on the Adobe website. (It's much too complicated for me to remember pricing for all the various upgrades.)

Few days ago i got my Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium, Student Edition.
I also got some Information about an Upgrade to the CS5 Version. They wrote i can apply for a free Upgrade. But nowhere i found some more Information how to get this free Upgrade. What i have to do? Do somebody knows how to get this?
I would be very happy if somebody can help me!

CS3 to CS4 Design Premium Student upgrade?

Is this available? My girlfriend has CS3 Design Premium, and is taking a Dreamweaver class that requires CS4. I haven't been able to find a student upgrade. The student version of CS4 is ~$300, which is a bit high considering she already has purchased CS3. Any better options? Could she upgrade the Dreamweaver component separately? That's only ~$100 (not an upgrade, just the DW CS4 student price), but will it create any major incompatibilities, and if so, what would they be?

Why can't I upload CS4 Design Premium (student version) on my new PC computer?

Greetings.
I just bought a new HP dv6t-7200 PC computer. It has Windows 8 on it. I purchased the student version of Adobe CS Design Premium a few years ago and was trying to upload it into my new computer.
When I put in the discs they sound like they're starting but then they wind down and stop spinning. I checked my "start" screen to view my "c" drive and it doesn't even show that the disk is in the drive.
Can anyone tell me why I can't upload these discus into my new computer? I get no error messages or any kind of message box stating that I can't upload the discs, so I don''t know what's wrong. The discus uploaded fine a few years ago on my last HP PC and it's a valid student version set.

Damaged Installation DVD for CS 3 Design Premium Student Edition

I did a fresh install of snow leopard on my mac only to find out that my installation DVD for my student edition of CS3 Design Premium is damaged. Is there any mechanism to replace / purchase a new one without purchasing a new license?
