Australian News Video Website Freezes Safari, Camino and Firefox

http://video.news.com.au/ freezes all 3 browsers -
The main news website www.news.com.au renders and when you click on the video link it freezes Safari, Camino and Firefox -
You can't scroll or do anything but Force Quit -

The Engine that powers the video does set cookies if it set to "always" the site crashed my Safari once more.
This from my console, Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://video.news.com.au/ from frame with URL http://publish.vx.roo.com/newsinteractive/videopage/index2.aspx?bt=NS&bp=MAC&bst =SF&biec=false. Domains must match.

Then it plays nice as if it never crashed my browser.Really odd!

safari, chrome and firefox cannot verify identity of secure websites after upgrading to 10.7.4,  apple engineers have tried multiple things including operating system with no success

There are several threads about this problem, most notably one called 'Invalid Certificates' is over 4 pages long.  Many of us have experienced difficulty connecting to banking and other secure sites.  On my Macbook Pro, I cannot get to my banking site with any browser, however I can get there on my iMac using Safari, but get the 'Invalid Certificate' notice with FF and Chrome.  The problem started after the installation of 10.7.4.  I have sent a message to Apple--they will be dismayed to hear that I cannot complete an order at their online store!

  • After I installed the recent Apple security patch, I can no longer save PDFs when using Safari. And Firefox no longer can open website PDFs. Any suggestions?

If the previous Safari suggestion doesn't work try the following:
In Finder, go to Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins and move AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin to the Disabled Plug-ins Folder.  Restart Safari.  If this works you may just want to delete that FUBAR plug-in.
Thanks.  This was the solution for me.

  • Quicktime file works in Camino and Firefox, but not Safari

    Hi all,
I just updated my iWeb site, which I use as a portfolio site. I have quicktime files loaded that are commercials I've worked on. Today I added one via iWeb, loaded it, then went to watch it and it doesn't work. The page opens, the QT window is there, but it's like the file doesn't load. The play line at the bottom remains light gray, and it doesn't fill up showing that the file is loading. HOWEVER, i've gone to both Camino and Firefox and it plays in both of those browsers.
I was previously on 3.1.2 and noticed there was an update available. Updated, then tried again and the same problem persists. I'm confused.
I'm guessing this has to be a Safari thing since i've been successful getting it to play in 2 other browsers. Has anyone come across this and know of anyway I can get this work? Having this available for viewing is pretty important, as I use that site as a portfolio site and a means of getting jobs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Okay, so both are back in the folder and I'm back to where I started; the QT window loads, but the status bar does not seem to be loading, that is, I can hit the play button but it won't play b/c it's like the file is not loading.
I did go to Help>Safari>Installed Plug-ins. Both are shown; there's a section for QuickTime Plugin.plugin and for QuickTime Plugin.webplugin. Both have a much larger header above them that says "QuickTime Plug-In 7.5.5." Not sure if that's pertinent or not. Just thought I'd post that info.
Okay, so here is the page to my spot that doesn't work in Safari, but does in Camino and Firefox:
    http://www.smithcory.com/portfolio/NFLSuper_AdPromo.html
It's a small file, 4.6MB's so I can't imagine file size being a problem. There is a slight difference bt firefox and Camino when playing it; in Firefox, it takes about 8 seconds before it will start playing, like Firefox is loading it or something. In Camino, it plays right away. Not sure if that helps or is pertinent again, but just trying to provide as much info as I can. Thanks for the help.

All websites freeze when I utilize Firefox. I cannot click in any of them....Constant Contact, AOL, on-line banking. This has been happening over the last couple of weeks. Please assist. My internet explorer is fine. I prefer Firefox, but the issue needs to be cleared up.

    Hi chkreynolds,
There are a few reasons that Firefox might freeze. You should look at the troubleshooting steps in the KB article [[Firefox hangs]]. It has a lot of useful information that should help you to resolve your issue.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • QuickTime videos stutter in Safari but not Firefox

    hi guys,
i recently built a website using lightwindow (http://stickmanlabs.com/lightwindow/) to display quicktime videos in modals. the videos play beautifully in firefox but are very choppy in safari. i've tried it on a couple different macs and the result is the same. if you go to the link above, the first demo called "quicktime movie example" is choppy in safari as well but not any other browser i've tried. any idea what could be causing this or why performance is so spotty with safari?
any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated!

I have just visited "http://www.sg-karting.com/Racing/Photos/Pages/KartingEdgeRound-1.html" using both Safari Version 3.0.4 (523.12) and Firefox version 2.0.0.9 on a G4 PB 10.4.11. And both browsers displayed the same information from what I can see. All the pictures revealed themselves.
Have I picked the correct album for your example?
I tried other area's of your web site and all appeared to be the same as the Safari. Maybe you need to clear your cache.

  • Safari, Mail AND Firefox Hijack???

Hi, This is a mirrored post from the one in Safari forum, and the iBook G4 general use forum.
First point, let's get this out of the way: I know there are neither virus nor malware in the wild for macs.
Now, to the matter: Today, my Safari, Firefox and Mail app were hijacked several times, and were always redirected to this page: www.register.4less.com
Always that I typed an ordinary http address (let's say: www.elnorte.com) in the address bar, I ended up in a site that purportedly belonged to the address I typed (in the address bar said the address I typed), but on the body, there was an image with the logo of register.4less.com, and the text: "Welcome to the future hosting of "www.[whateverityped].com" It was the same on FF and Safari.
It all started when the Mail app warned me that a computer with a certificate issued to "register.4less.com" was pretending to be pop.gmail.com. I obviously cancelled the process, thinking the gmail server was compromised. I then experienced problems connecting with ANY app in my computer, even the RSS reader widget crashed (and when it crashed it couldn't connect to apple for sending the report).
I made several transactions trough an https server (my bank) without any problems, only somewhat slower than the average. After this, any other website which were not https would give me the message I've explained before. I know I shouldn't have logged in to my bank, but at that moment I didn't suspected anything.
Now, some more important information. I live in Mexico City, but right now I'm on vacation on my parent's house in my place of Birth: Monterrey, México. I have a cousin living also in Monterrey, which has refered to me he had encountered this problem with safari before and only in http sites. He told me also that https sites didn't have any problem (ebay and amazon sign in pages, e.g.). He uses the same ISP my parents use. In México city I have another ISP, and have never before had this problem. Right now my brothers are out of home, so I can not ask them if they have had this problem before, altough none of them uses a Mac.
Of course I always have my Mac's firewall on. I also don't have any sharing enabled (neither windows nor personal file sharing).
When I empty the cache this problem goes away for a few minutes before returning (that's how I'm writing this).
I have the pop-up blocker on, and while typing this I changed the cookies to "Only to sites you navigate to", and deleted all of the cookies already installed. This didn't prevented the problem from happening again.
Now guys, help me out here with these Questions:
    1. What should I do??
    2. What happened?? Could it be that the ISP have been compromised?, or is it my computer? I don't think it is my computer, I've searched the entire HD searching for anything remotely likely to register.4less.com and I didn't found anything. But right now I'm a little scared.

  • Having some problems with JAVA sites with safari, opera and firefox

I work with some online java application for my work. Since I updated to Leopard, I cant access the site with safari, I loose some options with Opera and Firefox...
Is it the JAVA that is not up to date with leopard?
    Any updates soon?
    Help!!!

I have experienced memory leaks with the jvm on Leopard. Seem they took a huge step backwards instead of forward.
It should be obvious by now that they didn't include 1.6 as many publications alluded to (Still haven't seen any explicit word from Apple where they officially said "Yes, Leopard WILL have JVM 1.6 at time of launch".)
Don't know if the url below will get filtered out, but many other (non-Apple controlled) forums have been saying nasty things about Apple not explaining themselves for this major snafu.
The article is titled, "So Long Apple. The Party's Over" and hosted by Java Lobby dot org.

  • I've completed the new security download routine 3 times, and Firefox keeps telling me I need to download again.

I've downloaded the new security patch 3 times in the last couple of weeks, put it in my applications and from there onto the dashboard, and Firefox keeps telling me that I need to download it again. This is crazy... Firefox can't recognize it's own application???

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 15.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • New dedicated website for Safari for Windows

Found this new website dedicated to Safari for Windows (I guess). Looks good and has some nice information.
    http://www.SafariWin.com

Very kind of you to share that information, but why post it in the Safari for Mac forum, when it should have gone in the Safari for Windows forum?

  • Old and new video podcasts no longer sync and play

Since updating Itunes and software on my Ipod classic, the ipod no longer plays video podcasts. I know there was a problem with newer podcasts in HD and so on, but even the old format doesn't play.
    can anyone help?

In your subject heading you say the Podcasts do not sync. Are you saying they don't play +because they have not synced?+
If so, when you plug your iPod into your computer, check the settings on the Podcasts pane/tab. Are they still set the way you want them? Software upgrades have been know to cause these settings to be changed.

  • Safari, IE, and Firefox display website type differently.

I've designed my website off of a template from Muse-themes.com, which uses Adobe Typekit.  When I view the website in different web browsers the type looks different in each one.  What could the issue be?  The website is www.liveimagegreenscreen.com
IE: Website looks the best in IE.
Safari:  Type is very jagged and difficult to read.
Firefox:  When the page is first loaded a different font appears, then changes to the correct font.

This is "normal" web font behavior. Each browser has it's own technology for layout out and rasterizing (specifically anti-aliasing) text. Therefore even the exact same font will appear subtlely (or sometimes not so subtlely) different in two different browsers. Short of converting the text to images (which has a lot of drawbacks) I'm not aware of any way around this. Some viewers prefer the appearance of text in IE, others prefer Safari and still others prefer Firefox. The anti-aliasing of the text is not under the website author's control. The viewer selects it consciously or unconsciously by their choice of browser.
The issue is similar for the temporary load of the text in Firefox. Firefox seems to be generally biased toward showing content the moment it can, even if layout is incomplete. Some viewers prefer this, since they (at least theoretically) can begin reading the content sooner, before the initial loading and layout is complete. Other browsers lean more toward an approach that waits to display the page content until more is loaded and initial layout is complete. Some viewers prefer this approach.
The Flash Of Unstyled Text is referred to as FOUT. There are numerous hacks documented online that attempt to get around it. To my knowledge, to date, there is no satisfactory solution to avoiding this in all browsers.
