AUTH Command is not enabled, when try to enable webmail with smtp auth
Hi,
I'm trying to force all the webmail users to authenticate (smtp auth) when they send an email.
I already configure this:
local.service.http.smtpauthpassword = xxxxx
local.service.http.smtpauthuser = admin
and reload the http service. (the password is correct)
Then, enter to the webmail interface and tried to sent an email but when pressed "sent" the following message appears:
SMTP: Error 5.7.1 AUTH Command is not enabled.
Do I have to do something else? Any lead?

I know about the little use of the webmail authentication but it is something I need to do because in my configuration I have to differentiate between users who can send emails to internet and users who can not, and in order to do that, I need to authenticate all the users. So far is working if the user uses an email client.
For webmail I did not know that I have to add in the tcp_intranet channel definition the attribute: mustsaslserver.

Hi all - I've been banging my head on this one for awhile now - hopefully someone else has done this.
We are working in a servlet container (tomcat), and need obtain a mail session from JNDI. We do this as follows:
Context initCtx = new InitialContext();
Context envCtx = (Context) initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env");
Session mailSession=(Session) envCtx.lookup("mailSession/trumpetinc");so far so good. The jndi entry for the mail session is configured in server.xml as follows:

</ResourceParams>With the above, whenever we hit Transport.send(msg), we got an AuthenticationFailedException thrown. I have run into this before with SMTP authentication, so I decided to try using the transport.sendMessage() method instead.
So, I get the transport:
Transport trans = mailSession.getTransport("smtp");
trans.connect();Then I send my message using:
msg.saveChanges();
trans.sendMessage(msg, msg.getAllRecipients());and finally, I close the transport:
trans.close();Unfortunately, I'm still getting the exception. Is it possible that my connect() method is not picking up the JNDI properties set in the server.xml file (this seems likely)? If so, what's the best way for me to get those properties so I can set them explicitly in the connect() method?

I have faced the same problem and after some googling and trying I have discovered what causes the AuthenticationFailedException exception. I just wanted to share the knowedge maybe it will be helpfull to others.
Here it is what the API says:
To use SMTP authentication you'll need to set the mail.smtp.auth property (see below) and provide the SMTP Transport with a username and password when connecting to the SMTP server. You can do this using one of the following approaches:
1.Provide an Authenticator object when creating your mail Session and provide the username and password information during the Authenticator callback.
Note that the mail.smtp.user property can be set to provide a default username for the callback, but the password will still need to be supplied explicitly.
This approach allows you to use the static Transport send method to send messages.
2.Call the Transport connect method explicitly with username and password arguments.
This approach requires you to explicitly manage a Transport object and use the Transport sendMessage method to send the message. The transport.java demo program demonstrates how to manage a Transport object. The following is roughly equivalent to the static Transport send method, but supplies the needed username and password:
Using the Transport.connect makes the JNDI not very helpfull for configuration.
It seems that using just the mail.smtp.user and mail.smtp.pass is not sufficient for the authentication.
so, the solution is :
just place these to lines in the JNDI configuration:
username="test"
password="test1"
so it should looks as follows:

I have just fresh installed a new MTA, everything is fine but when telnet <own-ip> 25 and when I try to do auth login, I have got this error:
*AUTH command is not enabled.
I supposed the auth login is by default being enabled, may I know how to enable it?

By default the tcp_intranet channel doesn't have this keyword. Try adding maysaslserver to the tcp_intranet channel, then run ./imsimta cnbuild;./imsimta restart.
When you telnet <own-ip> 25, type in, EHLO blah.com, you should see the following:
250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
250-AUTH=LOGIN
This means SMTP Auth is enabled.

When I compose an email in either gmail or yahoo, the cursor lags behind for about 2 seconds. This does not happen when I compose an email with Safari or Chrome. I am using a Mac with Firefox version 3.6.3. Any idea why this happens?

On i-pad, when I try to enable itunes match, it says, "you are not currently subscribed to iTunes Match. Use iTunes on your computer to subscribe." I am subscribed though! Then it says no to my request and, "item not available in the U.S. store." My Mac will not use update iTunes to any later version than the one I have because my os is also out of date, but when I try to update that i cant, so what do I have to do? Please don't tell me I have to buy a new Mac to be up to date.
On the iOS device you must be logged into the store with the exact same Apple ID you used to originally purchase the service. Go to Setting > iTunes & App Stores and if necessary sign out/in and then enable iTM.

Java Applets do not run when UAC is enabled on Windows 7

I'm deploying Java 6.0_26-b03+ on Windows 7 and experiencing following problem:
Java applets do not run as standard domain users in Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 when UAC is enabled (i.E. http://www.java.com/de/download/installed.jsp). When logged on as Administrator or start IE9 as Administrator java applets do run.
If I diable UAC an log on as normal user then applets do run. Applets then still run if UAC is re-enabled again. It seems that UAC needs to be disabled for the Java Plug-In to register something in user context (assumption). If this registration happended Java applets do run also for standard Windows 7 users if UAC is enabled.
Since we're planning a corporate Windows 7 rollout (>800PCs) we cannot do this manually on every computer. Ther must be any solution for this problem.
Does anybody have the same problem and has already found a solution?

Firefox will crash while I am using the internet...no warning, no apparent reason...just an apology for the crash. Why?
Today, when using an Adobe application Firefox did not recognize or allow the website to recognize that "cookies" WERE enabled. I kept receiving a message that the website could not proceed until same was enabled. Even after several redoing the enabling instructions, the message report the cookies were NOT enabled. Yet, as I write this the screen menu drop down in Tools, Options shows the cookies is programmed and are enabled. Why? Yes, it seems pretty obvious that you would have to replace all for of them otherwise in that condition the generic one would show up.
But to spell it out you need to replace in . List Template Current , List Template Current with Sub List Items , List Template Noncurrent , List Template Noncurrent with Sub List Items.
This is one of those thngs you should have just tried it took me longer to type all this out than it would have taken you to test.

replace "mustsaslserver" instead of "maysaslserver" in tcp_intranet channel on your imta.cnf file. Then all clients connecting from your internal IPs (listed on your mappings file) will be authenticated.
Add the below two parameters for messenger express users to use the same system.
configutil -o local.service.http.smtpauthuser -v "store admin user name"
configutil -o local.service.http.smtpauthpassword -v "store admin password"
All other external smtp connections (MX pointed) are not authenticated since they are directed to tcp_local channel. -
How to add X-authenticated header with SMTP-auth
I have smtp-auth working here. I also have normal mail header to see what ip the message is coming from. But I'd like to add X-authenticated to signature the mail is authenticated by end user.
Can I do that? What parameter i can use for message filter?

ChrisCurrently you can't ; however, you should open a case with IronPort and request that feature - the more that request the feature the better the chance for it to get implemented. My company has already requested this feature. We asked for a variable and a condition that we could use in filters.

Opmn service does not start when try to start Oracle BI Services
Hi ,
I was able to install OBIEE 11g on my laptop and it worked fine for two days. Today when I try to login to rpd and type my user name and password I get the error that my user name and password is not correct. I tried to restart the machine and now I am not able to start opmn service.
When I do Start>Oracle Business Intelligence (1)>Start BI Services, the script run and two command line windows open and about 10 minutes later get the last line that server started in RUNNING mode, but some how Oracle Process Manager (instance) service does not start. It started two days ago when I was able to login to OBIEE 11g.
If I try to go to OBIEE 11g Home page I get this error "Error 500- Internal server error from RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol- HTTP/1.1: 10.5.1 500 Internal server error
Any Idea how to fix this one.

"Mode not supported", when try to connect to TV
When I try to connect my Lenovo T440s to my TV using VGA cable, I get a "Mode not supported" message on the television screen and the laptop screen goes black. Some points that may make it easier to troubleshoot: 1. I was able to connect to this laptop successfully to this TV on prior occasions. 2. I am able to connect this laptop to an external monitor in my office successfully 3. I am able to connect other computers to this TV successfully. So what could it be? Any thoughts?

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue on connecting to your Television from ThinkPad T440s.
Recently have you updated the system with any of the application or with drivers from Windows update?
Check uninstalling the Graphic driver from the system.

I woke up one morning to find that Safari could only open webpages on the administrator account.
The other accounts had parental controls enabled. However, not all of them even had any restrictions for using applications or Safari content. When I totally disabled parental controls, these other accounts could get access the internet through safari. When I enabled them (without setting up any paramters), Again Safari could not open any web pages. I tried reseting also.
Has anyone had this issue or have an idea of what I need to do to fix it? Thanks!I had the same problem, Safari would not open at all in the accounts that had parent controls enabled. I resolved this by going into the admin account and making a copy of safari then pasting it into the library folders as well as the application folders. You can also paste a copy of safari into the other user accounts (desktop) from the admin account. Once that is done, open the parent controls system (check the applications to allow) Internet tab then check safari. Hope that works for you

PageDef.xml is not found when trying to enable MDS
Our application uses JPA in the back end and fusion in the front end. we donot use databindings for integrating the backend object to the UI. I am trying to enable the mds by following the instructions in http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/metadataservices-fmw-11gr1-130345.pdf. Initially using filebasedmetadata service to check if MDS is working in our enviroment. I have configured mds to save table and columns when i change the value for the user it stores the value for that jspx file in chartingBreakdownL1.jspx.xml but when it is trying to access the changed setting when i log out and log back in it is not able to restore the changed value. in the logs i get this

2) the changed value is stored in the respective jspx file (chartingBreakdownL1.jspx.xml) when i log out and log back in the values are not restored from this file.
3) In the log it is looking for the pagedef file (chartingBreakdownL1PageDef.xml.xml) in the mds repository which is not stored as part of the mds file system. i have this file in the code base and using it for compiling but it is not getting saved to mds file system. It is trying to access this file and it is not able to read the values that is why it is saying "base read only = true". If you need this file is there a way to get this in the mds file repository.
I am running this locally as a standalone server. i dont have enterpise manager installed. i have enabled the logging in "oracle diagnostics logging configuration" . for oracle.mds i have to set to finest that is why i am able to get the logs.
