Authenticating Proxy problem? Can't download TV show, view account

I'm using iTunes 8.0.1 (12) on OS X 10.5.5 on a 1GHz mini. This evening I am unable to download a TV show for which I have a season pass, nor can I view my account information. Requests like "CONNECT p8-buy.itunes.apple.com:443 HTTP/1.1" clearly get to my proxy, which sends a "HTTP/1.0 407 Proxy Authentication Required" response, which iTunes is ignoring.
Now, here's the crazy bit. When I quit iTunes and reload it and head into the store, it requests my proxy credentials, which I give it. I can move around in the shop, I even started watching a free video podcast. But the show and the account are non-functional.
Anybody else seeing this? Anybody else using iTunes through a proxy that requires authentication and not seeing this? Any general suggestions?

Been playing with this more, it's still unresolved.
I also tried adding my proxy username and password into the Network -> Advanced -> Proxies page manually, and permitting iTunes to always be permitted to use the credentials. Doesn't help.
I've tried to follow the requests. After hitting the "Sign In" button, here's a summary of the requests. The leading + or - sign indicates whether the request included proxy authentication information. Every request that included proxy authentication information succeeded.

The only striking thing about this is that the first attempt when using the CONNECT method is that the first request is to a hostname like p2-buy.itunes.apple.com, followed by a request to the more generic hostname buy.itunes.apple.com. But after attempting to get to p4-buy.itunes.apple.com without including authentication information, no further queries are made.

Can't download files, shows file size is "-1bytes"

Hello, recently when I try to download files they do not start up immediately like they used to, and when they do it shows the file size of the file is "-1bytes". But, when I use a download manager to download it, it downloads just fine.
This isn't just 1 website in particular it happens for all the websites. I tried uninstalling FireFox, and installing it again and I still can't download anything.

That may be a bug. Firefox shows a size of -1 if the size is unknown instead of suppressing the file size.<br />
You can ignore that if the file down;loads fine.

How can I download tv shows in advance

I am just starting to use Apple TV, and I just purchased a season of "Madmen." I'd like them ALL to be downloaded for my viewing pleasure, but instead, I have to select a show, then wait 20/40 minutes for it to download. Is there a way to just auto-download anything you're purchased, so while you're sleeping, or away, the shows are downloading?

The apple tv does not download it streams, it only 'downloads' the film enough to play it without buffering. Your issue is likely you internet connection speed. You can press play and then pause the film or show and it will 'download' enough so if you did that half an hour before you want to watch teh show it should work, if you did it overnight the Apple TV would go to sleep and forget the download!

No, sorry, you can't. TV shows from the iTunes Store cannot be burned to a video DVD, and the content can only be played on a computer that can be authorized to the iTunes Store account through which the content was purchased, which can only be done in the US. These restrictions are all in place by demand of the content owners.

Can I download TV shows in standard definition in iTunes 10.6?

Up until recently, when I purchased an episode on iTunes, it would give both the HD and the SD version. Now, it's only giving me the HD, and my computer is way too slow to handle that, (there is serious lag and the download time is literally 5-8 hours depending.) I purchased the episode expecting to have the option to download/watch it in SD, and now I'm stuck with only the HD version, which, again, I can't watch. how do I enjoy my brand new iphone (my first "i" piece of hardware ever) if I can't download aps? I had itunes once, for 3 days, a long time ago. it was a pain in the butt so I got rid of it and won't download it again.

the bigger point: I was sold I phone and told how easy and fun the aps are. maybe. but getting to the point of being able to download free aps isn't worth the hassle of setting up yet another account with yet another company.
You should persevere, you'll enjoy the phone. Surely that's the same kind of hassle you get when you try and buy something from a lot of online retailiers these days? They all want you to create an account.

I have been trying to download a TV show. Just it is about to finish downloading (2.80 GB of 2.81 GB) it says "There was a problem downloading (-50)" ask to check my network access. I have not problem downloading music. Please help. I just want to delet or finish downloading.

It seems odd that you can log onto TVNZ TV on demand and watch programmes directly on your computer and yet they won't let them be channelled through the Apple TV.
The Apple TV would be more use if it could access TVNZ [ say ] and play the episodes from there instead of having to go through iTunes.
I am a bit cross that Apple market the Apple TV with what it can do in US and yet it wasn't made clear that in New Zealand it is a virtually useless piece of kit.
I have been buying Apple products since 1985 and this is the first time I have been dissatisfied.
Having said that it may not be the fault of the product !! Just the country in which I am trying to use it.

I can't download tv shows or rented movies. My iPad indicates that I have 1.3 GB available and even though the downloads are less than that, the movies and tv shows will not download and the message I get says I don't have enough available storage.

Also, I bought additional storage but it shows up in iCloud and does not alleviate the need for additional storage for videos. What can I do to get additional storage to download rented movies and tv shows?

In General you need 2 to 3 times the Space of the Download File size.
If you are getting the Not Enough Space message... you will need to Delete items to create sufficent space

re:finding tv shows in the Music store, I think that tv shows are only available in the US music store. I live in Canada - we get the big US networks as part of our regular cable- and can not purchase any TV content from the music store, even if I visit the US Music store. I always get the message that the tv shows are only available to users from the US.
Regarding other videos and equipment you might need, I unfortunately can not answer that question.

Problem: Can't download/see software unless logged in as "root"?

I am on a MacBook Pro, This machine is a little race car...no speed or space problems here. so I am trying to download the Adobe Cloud software and I finally after several hours of being passed around to several chat helpers realize that I have to be logged in as the "root" of the computer to be given the "permissions" to download this particular software. So I log in as the "root" and I download the software. It downloads beautifully. It works properly...when you are logged in as "root". When you are logged in as a user on the computer you are able to see the software for the Cloud in the applications folder and you can open them indepentently. But you can not see them on the top bar of the computer screen where the Adobe Creative Cloud resides. When you open the cloud folder it is empty. Because of this you would not be able to use them properly. so I need help.

Many users have complained about not being able to download the BC drivers/software for the specific models (after 2013+). Apple allows direct downloads of the software for Macs up to 2013. Try to call Apple Technical Support or visit an Apple Store, if possible.

Touch 3rd Gen. Syncing Problem/Can't Download Latest iTunes

So the Problem.....
I hadn't connected my iPod Touch to sync it in maybe 4 days and decided this morning (9/2/10) to do so. I opened iTunes, turned on my Touch, and connected them. As usual iPhoto popped up and started to import photos from my Touch to my PowerBook and after that was done I expected my Touch to appear in iTunes and begin syncing as always. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN.
I went thru the basic, "Look for your device in the File drop down." and it's not there either.
So, I went to apple support to troubleshoot (http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/itunes/#section_1) and here is where I get really frustrated.....
According to apple troubleshoot I need to have Mac OS X version 10.4.11 or later (no problem, I have 10.4.11) and I need the latest version of iTunes (PROBLEM!!!). See, to get the latest version of iTunes I need Mac OS X version 10.5 or later. So why is it that to have my Touch 3rd Gen connect to iTunes I need to have OS X 10.4.11, but to get the latest version of iTunes required I need OS X 10.5?
If this issue isn't resolved swiftly then apple will be receiving a VERY ****** OFF EMAIL.

I don't think your problem has anything to do with the iTunes version. First, if it worked yesterday, it should work today, unless you had upgraded your ipod firmware (but I don't think it's possible to do this without first upgrading iTunes). Secondly, as far as I know, OS X 10.5 is a paid upgrade. If that's the case, Apple couldn't possibly expect everyone to buy the upgrade or be unable to use their ipods ever again. When they say you need the latest version of iTunes, they mean "the latest version for the operating system on your computer", not "the latest version that it is possible to have". I just upgraded iTunes to 9.2.1 this week, even though 10 is available for other systems.
I think there are 2 possible causes for your problem:
1) Your iTunes became corrupted somehow (which happens from time to time with software). In this case, just re-install the version you have (download it online) or upgrade to a newer version (in iTunes, click Help > Check for upgrades).
2) Your ipod or computer has a hardware problem, possibly with the USB cable or ports. You can try syncing with a different USB port or cable (and in the last resort, a different computer) to see what happens. Otherwise, a technician might be needed.
