  • Single Authentication Domain

    Hi,
I am creating a new environment on PT 8.50 for Portal 9.1 with DB as Oracle 11G R2 on Linux OS which is on domain xyz.com and i have an old environment of portal8.8 on domain abc.com.WE are trying to provide a link from Portal9.1 to Portal8.8 which is on a different domain. Is it possible to establish a single authentication domain between them as both the domains are different?
Webserver being used is IBM Websphere
    Thanks
    Vijay

If I understand your question correctly, I think the answer is no.
You can't establish a PeopleSoft single signon relationship between a PIA site that's on domain xyz.com with one that's on abc.com.
Single signon requires PSTOKEN authentication to work, and browsers will not forward cookies across domains (this would be a security vulnerability), so this can't happen because the target site would never get a PSTOKEN cookie to authenticate against when clicking the link.
But you can do something like this:
    site 1 = company1.corporation.com
    site 2 = company2.us.corporation.com
If your names were set up this way, then you could set your cookie domains and AuthTokenDomain to .corporation.com and set them up with single signon links to each other. The key is what is the domain associated with the PSTOKEN at the time it was issued, and will it be allowed to be forwarded to and accepted by the other site?
Theoretically, you could also set up .com as the authtoken domain, but that would be really bad from a security perspective, because you would basically be allowing anybody on the Internet to send you a PSTOKEN.

  • Authentication Domain for PeopleTools 8.48

I know there is very little reason to change the authentication domain name; however, there are situations where the issue may arise when this needs to be done. In 8.48, how do you change this without having to totally rebuild the weblogic 8.1 webservers?
We have an issue where the customer's resumes and applicant information goes to their main company webpage instead of the domain that was created for their PeopleSoft Applications, yes they have two domains and no one knows why, but apparently that went live with another domain name.
    Thanks...

It needs to be updated in the weblogic.xml file located in the webserver
    under the PeopleSoftHome\webserv\peoplesoft\applications\portal\web-inf.
    The paramter name is cookiedomain.

  • REN Server : Authentication Domain

    Hi
Currently we are running PeopleSoft Financials with the Authentication Domain as the null string.
Due to this the following navigation path fails even though the REN Server Browser URL does not have the domain
PeopleTools -> REN Server COnfiguration - REN Server Cluster -> Ping Test
However, when i add the authentication domain i find that if i login into DEV peoplesoft instance and start an operation and open another browser session of UAT peoplesoft instance.
When i come back to the DEV peoplesoft instance browser session it prompts for userid password again.
    The below are the steps
    1. Set a non-null authentication domain
    2. bounce the application/web servers
    3. Open the browser session and connect to DEV peoplesoft instance
    4. Open another browser session and connect to UAT peoplesoft instance
    5. Come back to the DEV peoplesoft instance browser session
    6. the DEV peoplesoft instance displays the peoplesoft login page prompting for userid and password
Can you please help me understand this phenomenon better?
Also currently in this peoplesoft instance the buffer test works fine but the ping test is not working.
So can you please let me know if the REN server is working fine or is there a better way to figure out if the REN server working
Thanks a lot for your patience

Firstly make sure that you have configured sites and subnets correctly. According to your information which you have two locations, you should have at least 2 sites and 2 subnets associated to them. If you have forgotten to configure subnets of India in your
site and services and assigned them to the India site you are experiencing this issue. Also make sure if clients in India has appropriate network connectivity to the domain controllers in India.

  • PeopleSoft 8.49 "URL Must Contain domain"

    Hello All,
First of all, thank you for reading this subject.
I have to migrate servers from an Active Directory to Another.
on the Active Direcoty, i've got few R&D PS servers.
my job is not to know how works PeopleSoft but migrate it.
So I have no competency on this product.
i have make a migration test and since the migration, each time I connect to PS I've got the following message:
    URL must contain MyOldDomainName
I browsed the forum and found a lot of informations:
Your URL must contain domain ".peoplesoft.com
Issue with PeopleSoft Sign-on url....not able to get the signon page
    But the problem still exist.
    this is the configuration:
    - PeopleSoft Enterprise 8.49
    - Weblogic Server 9.2
    - MS SQL 2005
    - Windows 2003 server
i have first edit a lot of files:
When I edit the host file, I'm able to connect if I enter the old URL with the old Windonws domain name.
    in a file config_prop
    D:\PT8.49\webserv\peoplesoft\applications\peoplesoft\PORTAL\WEB-INF\psftdocs\ps\webprof\config_prop
i have replaced all occurences to my old Windows Domaine by the new one.
I have done the same with the following option_prop file:
    D:\PT8.49\webserv\peoplesoft\applications\peoplesoft\PORTAL\WEB-INF\psftdocs\ps\webprof\option_prop
i have deleted the cache portal:
    D:\PT8.49\webserv\peoplesoft\applications\peoplesoft\PORTAL\ps\cache
and replace all occurences of my old windows domain name in the database by the new one.
When I restart PeopleSoft, my file config_prop and my database are updated by I don't know what, and the problem still exist.
I'm clearly lost and I don't know where to search.
    So, I send an SOS!
Thank you in advance for your help.
    best regards,
    Vincent.

    Hi,
The authentication domain is set in the webprofile.
The webprofile can be found in file configuration.properties, to be found in [PS_HOME]\webserv\peoplesoft\applications\peoplesoft\PORTAL.war\WEB-INF\psftdocs\[site] and contains an entry like
    # The next three fields must be valid for the database referred to in psserver.
    # WebProfile is the name of the profile used to configure this web site.
    # The user id and password are the values used to get the profile.
    # NOTE: If you change the password of this user in the database then
    # run the PSCipher script with the new password and paste the encrypted output here.
    # The pre-delivered profiles are: DEV, TEST, PROD, and KIOSK
    # DEV has standard developer options set
    # TEST has standard testing options set
    # PROD has standard production options set
    # KIOSK is like PROD but has additional settings relevant to KIOSK usage
    ## sd="Web Profile", dt="dx", ld="The web profile is a named group of configuration property settings that the portal applies throughout your PeopleSoft system to control all portal-related behavior.", tip="This may be set to DEV, TEST, PROD or KIOSK. Additional web profiles may be delivered and created for your application"
    ## option(va = DEV, sd="Standard developer option set")
    ## option(va = TEST, sd="Standard testing option set")
    ## option(va = PROD, sd="Standard production option set")
    ## option(va = KIOSK, sd="Similar to Production but has Kiosk option set")
    WebProfile=PROD
This webprofile has an authentication domain set in the database.
You can start by trying to set the webprofile to another (which might not have an authentication domain set) (DEV ,TEST, PROD, KIOSK )
Bounce the webserver and after this you should be able to login to PeopleSoft (without an domain (http://server:port/ps/signon.html)) and change the authentication domain on the original webprofile to the new domain name.

  • ACS Authentication in another (trusted) domain bij ACS Agent

    Hi
I have got two domains. Domain A is top level domain. Domain B is Child domain from Domain A.
The ACS Agents are installed on two DC's in Domain A.
Authentication of clients in Domain A is ok.
Authentication of clients in Domain B is a problem.
I created a Universal Group in Domain A. In this Universal Group, I put a Global User Group from Domain B. Authentication not ok.
The ACS "Failed Authentication Log": sais: "External DB account Restriction".
What is the problem here ?
    Gr.
    Remco

    Windows Group Mapping Limitations
ACS has the following limits on group mapping for users who are authenticated by a Windows user database:
•ACS can only support group mapping for users who belong to 500 or fewer Windows groups.
•ACS can only perform group mapping by using the local and global groups to which a user belongs in the domain that authenticated the user. You cannot use group membership in domains that the authenticated domain trusts that is for ACS group mapping. This restriction is not removed by adding a remote group to a group that is local to the domain providing the authentication.
What does the second bullet actually mean ?
Is it not allowed to make a domain local group in Domain A (in which the Remote Agents are) that contains users (not groups) from Domain B ?
Do you have to connect to Domain B in ACS (seen due to Trust relationship) and create a group mapping directly in Domain B ?

  • Multiple hostnames for multiple domains

I am currently running 3.0SP4 in Open mode without a gateway. I have one server instance with two domains (call them domain1 and domain2). Instead of having users have to go to append the domain name to the server URL, I would like to create two separate hostnames for each domain (call them domain1.test.com and domain2.test.com, both are in the same subdomain). I added both hostnames to the system and to the DNS and can reach the server fine. I followed the procedures in the iPS Admin Guide (Chapter 8 Configuring the Gateway, Using Virtual IP and DNS Names), adding the following:
    domain1->Authentication->Domain URLs
    /domain1
    domain1.test.com
    domain1.test.com/domain1
    domain2->Authentication->Domain URLs
    /domain2
    domain2.test.com
    domain2.test.com/domain2
I also editted the platform.conf file to include:
    ips.virtualhost=domain1.test.com domain2.test.com 111.111.111.111
Domain1 is set to be the default domain.
    I don't want to permit access to domain1 from domain2.test.com, or vice-versa.
When I go to domain1.test.com, it brings up the login screen fine and I can log in. When I try to go to domain2.test.com, I get a No Such Domain error.
I think this might be because it might be trying to redirect domain2.test.com to the default domain (domain2.test.com/domain1) and so I get this error, since it is not in the Domain URLs for domain2.
Or is it a separate problem? How can I fix this?

I found my problem... had to do with the default domain Domain URLs.

  • Error received when attempting to map a PeopleSoft role in CMC

We receive the error "Error occurred while updating PeopleSoft Enterprise authentication properties: The PeopleSoft Enterprise server returned an error. Error: (SOAP-ENV:Server) Server Error. Detail: Unable to find a Routing corresponding to the incoming request message."  when attempting to map in a role from a PeopleSoft enterprise system.
Note we are able to map roles into this BOE system from other PS systems with no issues....
This particular PeopleSoft system has a Tivoli Access Manager layer, while all others we have successfully integrated with do not.  Is there anything that needs to be different for the QAS URL for a PS system behind TAM?  Is the integration kit supported for use with TAM PeopleSoft environments where there is an additional logon layer?  Any idea what could be causing the attached error?
    Thanks in advance!

  • NTP - Remote Domain Computers

If we have a GPO to have windows clients sync their time from external sources instead of domain hierarchy (DCs, PDC Emulator Role Server, etc.), would those clients still (by virtual of being joined to a domain) want to communicate with a Domain Controller
as a time source? We were testing a GPO for remote users to have them Sync Time externally, but noticed when they are in the VPN they are still trying to talk to DCs via UDP 123. Possibly this is related to the CrossSiteSyncFlags value being a 2?
    Thanks,

    P.S.
    Forest Functional Level is 2003
    Domain Functional Level is 2008

    Hi,
With manually-specified synchronization, you can designate a single peer or a list of peers from which a computer obtains the time. If the computer is not a member of a domain,
that computer must be manually configured to synchronize with a specified time source. By default, a computer that is a member of a domain is configured to synchronize from the domain hierarchy. Manually-specified synchronization is most useful for the forest
root of the domain or for computers that are not joined to a domain. Manually specifying an external NTP server to synchronize with the authoritative computer for your domain provides reliable time. However, configuring the authoritative computer for your
domain to synchronize with a hardware clock is actually a better solution to provide high accuracy and improved security to your domain.
Note Manually specified time sources are not authenticated unless
a specific time provider is written for them, and they are therefore vulnerable to attacks. Also, if a computer synchronizes with a manually-specified source instead of its authenticating domain controller, the two computers might be out of synchronization,
and Kerberos authentication would therefore fail. Other actions that require network authentication, such as printing or file sharing, could also fail. If only the forest root is configured to synchronize with an external source, all other computers within
the forest remain synchronized with each other, making replay attacks difficult.
Microsoft strongly recommends that you configure the authoritative Time Server to obtain the time from a hardware source. When you configure the authoritative Time Server
to sync with an Internet time source, there is no authentication. Microsoft also recommends that you lower your time correction settings for your servers and for your stand-alone clients. These recommendations provide more accuracy and greater security to
    your domain.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your post.
MAC address authorization is performed when the user does not type in any user name or password, and refuses to use any valid authentication method. In this case, Network Policy Server (NPS) receives the Calling-Station-ID attribute, and no user name and
password. To support MAC address authorization, Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) must have user accounts that contain MAC addresses as user names.
For more detailed information about MAC Address Authorization, please refer to the below article. Hope it helps.

We have our own domain, which is not currently part of the Remote forest, thus there is no transient trust between the two domains. When the client logs into our domain here (i.e. behind the ISA firewall), and starts Pro/I, the Oracle client seem to automatically forward authentication requests to our LOCAL domain controllers, and NOT the authenticating domain server serverA. As the user does not exist in our domain, the authentication fails.
So, this would indicate we have to somehow configure the Oracle client to force it to authenticate against a nominated domain (remote) and not against the domain the client is logged into, if this is possible. Again, my Oracle experience is limited, so we will investigate further, but if anyone has any other ideas, we're open to trying them.
    Regards
    Michael

please suggest me what to do to resolve it.

Check your trusted nodes in both applications.
To do this go to PeopleTools->Security->Security Objects->Single Signon
Make sure PSFT_HR is in the list under "Trust Authentication Tokens issued by these Nodes" in Enterprise Portal and PSFT_PA is in the list in HR/Campus Solutions.
You could also check your authentication domain for both to make sure it is the same.
This is set in PeopleTools->Web Profile->Web Profile Configuration under the General tab.

  • HRMS sign on page issue with PIA

    Hi all.
I've installed Peoplesoft 9.1, PT8.52 (Oracle 11G 64 bit database) on windows 2008 server 64bit and an HRMS DEMO DB on a Virtual machine PSDEMOVM.
I also installed Oracle 11G client 32, and configured a PS client workstation on another virtual machine PSDEMOWS
I did all the steps and now, from the server machine, I entered PSADMIN and created a domain following all the configuration steps.
I installed PIA also, user PTWEBSERVER/PTWEBSERVER.
    website: ps
    Auth_Token_Domain: companyname.com
I am not able to access the application.
PTWEBSERVER exists in the database and has the same 'encrypted' password as in 'configuration.properties' file.
No errors found in both appserv and webserv logs.
The login page http://psdemovm.[companyname].com:7180/psp/ps/?cmd=login&languageCd=ENG gives me the 'Internet explorer cannot display the webpage' error message.
I tried using: http://psdemovm:7180/ps/signon.html it shows an error message 'Your URL should contain .companyname.com' and redirects me to the URL mentioned above and with the same error message.
One more thing, I am able to access WebLogic Console page using http://psdemovm:7180/console.
What am I doing wrong? what should I check?
    Best Regards and Thx,
    Bechara

This is probably due to your proxy setting in your browser or the hosts file reference.

http://psdemovm:7180/ps/signon.html will not work, since you supplied an authentication domain.
Make sure that your host file reflect your servername and ipaddress, something like:

And try disable your proxy settings or adding an exception to avoid the url's starting with psdemovm.companyname.com

    Hi.
    Thank you for your reply.
It worked when trying to access using 'localhost' not the name of the machine.
But it showed me the following error:
'CHECK APPSERVER LOGS. THE SITE BOOTED WITH INTERNAL DEFAULT SETTINGS, BECAUSE OF:
bea.jolt.ApplicationException: TPESVCFAIL - application level service failure.'
They say this error might be related to the PTWEBSERVER user, but nothing found yet.
And It didn't work when trying to access it from a different PC on the network using the machine name.
    Update
    I checked the following:
select * from PSCLASSDEFN where CLASSID = ‘PTPT1500′
select * from PSAUTHSIGNON where CLASSID = ‘PTPT1500′
select * from PSROLEDEFN where ROLENAME = ‘PeopleTools Web Server’
select * from PSROLECLASS where ROLENAME = ‘PeopleTools Web Server’
select * from PSOPRDEFN where OPRID = ‘PTWEBSERVER’
select * from PSROLEUSER where ROLEUSER = ‘PTWEBSERVER’
    And results are positive.
Each time I access the sign on page, while showing me that same error, the appserver log file inserts the following error:
PSAPPSRV.856 (609) [10/31/12 14:36:32 GetCertificate](3) PeopleSoft ID and Password authentication failed. Invalid password for user PTWEBSERVER@psdemovm.

  • PeopleTools 8.53 Ren Server.

    Hi,
I've got peopletools installed on a windows 7 laptop. I've got the Ren Server running and can run the block test. The PeopleSoft logo is visible as per: "The PeopleSoft gif in the upper left corner will not load if the page's URL is incompatible with the PeopleSoft Authentication Token; this is a normal feature of REN Server security."
So it appears the ren server URL and PeopleSoft token are OK.
However, I can't run the ping test as I get an access denied message.
    Has anyone any suggestions!
    Thanks,
    Steve.

That particular issue usually occurs if you don't have authentication domain set up on your web server and/or REN server. Try the following:
    1) If the authentication domain is not set up on the web server, do the following:
    a. Navigate to PeopleTools > Web Profile > Web Profile Configuration > General tab -> Authentication Domain
    b. Enter the authentication domain. Eg .oracle.com /* Note leading dot character */
    2) If authentication domain is not set up on the REN server, do the following:
    a. Navigate to PeopleTools > REN Server Configuration > REN Server Cluster > REN Server Cluster tab > Authentication Token
b . Enter the authentication token. Eg oracle.com /* Note there is **no leading dot character */
Also make sure you are using same protocol to access PeopleSoft application and REN server (in other words, if you log into PeopleSoft application using https, then you need to access REN server using https)
