Authentication Error connecting to wireless

I am trying to connect to my home wireless and after entering the password the phone says "saved, secured" but then authentication error occurred.
How do I fix this so I am connected?

Ah, I may be a newbie but I had that problem too. In your wireless router screen it gives some ridiculously long 'key code'. That's the password your phone wants. You have a regular password for setting up the wireless network, but the other one is for accessing the routers' authentication.

Since buying my black MacBook in June I have been 'enjoying' completely haphazard connection to my (encrypted) home wireless network, and been forced to sponge off some neighbour's open network half the time, as I keep getting the message 'there was an error connecting to the ... wirless network'.
I HAVE connected to my network successfully, and from time to time the ghost in my machine does let the MacBook connect to it all by itself, so there is no compatibility issue as such. I had hoped that downloading the most recent Airport Extreme Firmware Update would help, as it promised to 'improve reliability', but alas. I've tried downgrading to 10.4.9 as somebody suggested on these forums, but that didn't make any difference, so I'm now back on 10.4.10.
The whole thing is driving me completely bonkers, so if anyone has any suggestions (or would consider joining me for a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority about Apple's misleading advertisements promising that 'it just works'...) I would be most grateful.

Don't order an ethernet cable from the Apple Store, any geek worth his salt might have one in his back pocket or a few in his bag (probably calls it a "patch cord".) Even Target sells them for $7-8 but anyone in IT buys them in bulk for $1-2 or makes their own for even less (materials cost, anyway, but they do take a bit of time and skill to put the ends on correctly).
As for the wireless, I moved from a Powerbook G4 to a MBP 17" to a new MBP 15," and I have been very disappointed in how less stable the MBP wireless connection is than my old PB G4 or even my wife's four year old iBook as she sits on the couch near me merrily surfing away while I grumble. However, I have a cheapy SMC wireless router - I don't have the problem at work where we have Airport base stations or at many other places with different brand routers - it's tough to nail down, and it's **** aggravating, especially when working on a deadline.

Claims Authentication Error connecting to BCS - but we're using Windows Authentication

We currently have an External List with a SQL Server SProc as a source in a SharePoint 2010 site. It has been working great for months now. I need to make a change to the External Content Type - and I have made changes in the past - but now strange things
are happening.
I can't view the external content type (or any) in SPD. I can create a new Secure Store Service Target Application in SPCentralAdmin and everything seems fine, but I can't consume the application in SPD. I get an error that BCS has rejected the
request. This is new and curious; I'm a Farm Administrator.
Looking at the logs, I find I get a Claims Authentication error that my ID can't be found (the error is below). This is also new and is very, very curious as we're not using Claims authentication for any of our sites. They all use Windows authentication.
I am also getting recent reports from users who are repeatedly challenged for credentials and wonder if this is related.
In my research, I've found suggestions from starting the CWTS Service (I was dubious, I can start the service, and it doesn't resolve the problem) to setting Metadata Store Permissions in SPCentralAdmin (I was again dubious as I'm a farm administrator -
and I get the same error when I try to make this assignment!) So I'm at a loss.
Here is the error (the X'd out information was correct in the trace):

We're not using Kerberos at all. We're using good, old-fashioned Windows Authentication. The only changes made to the platform recently have been updates. The error could, of course, be erroneous and I may be charging down the wrong path.
But although I find many links when I Bing the error, all the links pertain to sites using Claims authentication - even the Error Category in my log is "Claims Authentication" - but we're not using Claims Authentication...

From the error message, we might be missing user permissions to the BCS Metadata Store. Please perform the steps below and test the issue again:
1. Open the SharePoint Central Administration website with either a Farm administrator account or an account that has been delegated permissions to administer the Business Data Connectivity Service Applications.
2. On the Quick Launch, click Application Management.
3. On the Application Management page, under Service Applications, click Manage service applications.
4. In the list of services, select the row of the Business Data Connectivity Service Application that you created in Create the Business Data Connectivity service application and then click Manage and then Set Metadata Store Permissions.
5. Enter the Farm Administrator account and any other delegate administrators if you have them and then click Add.
6. For each account or group that you added that is an administrator of the Business Data Connectivity Service Application, select the Edit, Execute, Selectable In Clients, and Set Permissions checkboxes.
7. Select the Propagate permissions to all BDC Models, External Systems and External Content Types in the BDC Metadata Store. Doing so will overwrite existing permissions checkbox.
8. Click OK.
Also, make sure your account is added as local administrator.

Would you please try manually set the DNS address on client NIC to the IP of your server, then try run the connector again?

Authentication error when trying to connect to home WiFi

My Galaxy 3 won't connect to my home wireless. I've entered the correct SSID and authentication method, I've removed the connection and re-established it, I've rebooted the phone, etc. I do not have this problem accessing WiFi anywhere else. If it matters, the home service is Comcast--and it's the exact same modem & general service as my daughter has, and I have no problems accessing her WiFi.
This question or similar has been asked before, but it looks like no one has been able to answer it so far. I'm hoping that a new discussion might find someone out there who has figured this problem out and fixed it.

I am having the same exact problem. Up until a week ago my Galaxy3 phone automatically connected to my home network whenever I was in my house. All of a sudden, my phone powered off and when it came back up I no longer can connect to my home network. It will work with any other network outside of my house. I tried all the same things that you did including powering off my modem etc. My home computer and tablet are all fine. My husbands Droid X phone still works. Everything can connect to my home modem except my Samsung Galaxy3 phone.
I don't know what happened buy every time the phone tries to connect to my home modem, it gets an authentication error message. When I look at the settings, it looks like the IP address is missing. The phone won't let me "forget" or remove the address. I have tried countless times. I also can't add the IP address manually...there is no way to do this. I would appreciate Anyone helping. It's very frustrating. Did you ever get an answer?

Remote Desktop Connection - Authentication error

Hello,
I wish to connect to my work PC from my laptop. The remote desktop connection was working fine till yesterday, but today i receive the following error when i try to connect -
"An authentication error has occurred. The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted. Remote Computer: <name>."
I have Win 7 ultimate installed on my 32 bit system, and have tried solutions proposed in the other threads. I do not require a NLA check for connection, i have always used the remote desktop with this option unchecked. Could anyone help me with this please?
Is this a error on my Laptop, or do i need to contact the network administrators for this?

It could be as easy as you need to change your password on your domain accout.
Are both computers connected to the same domian or is your work computer connected to a domain and your laptop connected to a workgroup?
If your password has expired, this error can occur, so I would start to check that since it stoped working over night.

Remote Desktop Connection Authentication Error from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 7 Pro

I keep trying to connect to my server running Windows 7 Pro from my laptop running Windows 8.1 Pro, but I get the following message after providing
my credentials:
"An authentication error has occurred (Code: 0x8007001f)"
I can't find any reference to this error code being associated with using remote desktop.

Are you connecting to a server as part of a domain ? if so confirm you are using adequate credentials for remote desktop for example: username: domain\administrator
if not you can try connecting to the localhost using:
username: .\administrator - for example
also you can try running your remote connection in admin mode:
Win + R - bring up run then type:
mstsc /admin

For reasons unknown I found copies of many of these tracks as 256 kbps .m4a files in my Trash. As such I was able to remove the existing 128 kbps .m4p (Purchased) files (but not deleting them from iCloud), add the 256 kbps .m4a files to iTunes and then Add to iCloud whereupon, the original 128 kbps listings with the download from iCloud link switched to 256 kbps (Purchased) files. For a few of the files I accidentally deleted the 128 kbps (Purchased) from iCloud and when I added the .m4a to iCloud they appeared as 256 kbps (Matched) songs instead. Not sure why the difference, but it worked for several of these problematic files. But I still don't understand why/where these .m4a versions came from as most of these purchased predated iTunes Plus (e.g., my original purchases were 128 kbps). My new list of recalcitrant files is:

When I start the IntegrationWeblogicServer in JDeveloper11.1.1.3.0, the server can be started, the IntegratedWeblogicServer cann't be connected because of the authentication error.
The integrated weblogic server can be started successfully outside the Jdevelper, and I never changed the password of user weblogic.

Hi Paula:
You may want to check if one of your applications has its own users and groups settings. If you define your own Application's users ang groups settings, you may need to uncheck the setting in JDeveloper ADF Security wizard to avoid overwriting the embedded WLS security settings. Otherwise, even you reset your embedded WLS or recreate it, its settings will be overwritten again once you run your application on it.
The way to reset or recreate your embedded WLS is to follow Frank's tips.

I've turned os feater hyper-v on, restarted copmuter. In hyper-v manager added empty virtual machine. After double clikcing on my newly created machine windows with "virtual michine connection appeered". I turned button "power on" and
console has dropped error:

on the tiny image on the left bottom picture a can see quest console.
1) How can i install OS on my guest, where is default console for virtual machine?
2) What is RDP required

By saying the default console for Virtual machine, do you mean the Hyper-V manager?
The error might indicate that there is no VM available to connect. After we installed a OS, then we could connect it with the right-click in Hyper-V manager， see:

The RDP connections is used to connect the VM in Windows 8, and for Windows 8.1, there are great improvements including what's called Enhanced Session Mode, more information, please see:

IOS7 update failure w/ error "Not Connected to Wireless", but I am connected- How can I update?

My iPad has the defective "gotofailure" bug in iOS7, but there is only 1 pending update which describes a completely unrelated issue. I am connected to my Wireless LAN, and that connection works fine. But, when I try to download and install the pending update (Which may or may not have the major security hole fixed), the update fails with the error message "not connected to wireless". How can I get someone at Apple support to tell me how to get around this problem?
What am I supposed to do when the fix for a major bug is blocked by another (apparently minor) update?
(note: I am over the 30 day warranty, but within the 1 year warranty. However, Apple support wants me to pay $20 to have them tell me how to fix their defective software...
I expect that the 1 year warranty should apply to defective software, especially this major security bug!
This bug completely compromises browser and internet security... it is a HUGE deal!

This is my first Apple product since the Apple 2E. If this is the level of customer support and warranty for defects, hardware or software, that Apple provides, it may well be my last apple product.
I have worked in customer support at another major computer company, and this type of policy is the surest way to send customers to your competitors that I know of. Tim Cook, are you listening?
(P.S. Don't bother trying to get the attention of any Apple Executive - they don't want to hear from customers to provide feedback on their products or policies - not by phone nor by email.)

I think here the issue may be that the utility and the internet connection are not getting synchronised. The operating system on your computer is it win XP? If it is win xp, u can use the windows wireless software to manage to your wireless network. In order to use the windows wireless zero configuration, right click on the linksys icon at the bottom right hand corner of the task bar, select the option that says "use windows wireless ....".
The linksys icon will be grayed and windows will be managing the wireless network. Connect to your wireless network and you should be able to go online.

So, AirPort Utility running on the Windows Vista desktop can "see" the AirPort Extreme and displays its icon, but gives that error message at some point in the setup process? How far does it get?
Other questions that may help me (or somebody else) understand your problem better:
Which of the pieces were verified as working before the introduction of the AirPort Extreme?
Did you have the desktop computer attached to the Verizon GT704WGB with one of the Ethernet cables you are now trying to use? Which one? Have you tried the other one to be sure it also works?
Are you using the same port on the GT704WGB? Have you tried another one?
If the desktop has multiple ethernet ports, are you using the same one?
Had you done any special configuration of the ethernet port on the Verizon GT704WGB to get it to work with your desktop?
What category ethernet cable are you using? 3? 5? 5e? 6?

Wireless OOB NACissue : OOB Error: connected device client_MAC not found.

I've deployed wireless OOB NAC. Some user can login normally, but some other user can not login. The error message is OOB Error: connected device <client_MAC> not found. This only happen at some PC user.

When some wireless user cannot login, i usually issue command clear mac address-table dynamic on the switches then the problem is solved temporarily. I wonder why this was happened. Is there any parameter that i need to tune in NAC or WLC or switches?

Authentication error

I have Linksys router WAG120N & Linksys Range Expander WRE54G.
When I try to connect both of them, connection is successful. But if a device such as Samsung Galaxy S4 tries to connect to Range Expander, Authentication error occures. But when the device connects to router after switching off Range Expander, connection is successful.
Following are the wireless settings on Router:
Basic:
Wireless Configuration: Manual
Network Mode: Mixed
Network Name (SSID): NetworkName
Radio Band: Auto
Wide Channel: 9
Standard Channel: 11
SSID Broadcast: Enable
Following are the settings on Range Expander:
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Channel: 9
SSID: NetworkName
Security on both is set to WPA Perrsonal & WPA PSK respectively & also the password is same on both.
If any more details are required please let me know.

Do you have the latest firmware installed on both WAG120N and the WRE54G? This is one of the probable cause of your concern. Do you experience this problem on your other wireless devices connected to your WRE54G? There is also a need to check on the compatibility of the WRE54G and the Samsung Galaxy S4 especially that the phone is new wireless device and might be having a wireless N adapter and you only have a wireless G extender. Do you have a wireless G device that you can try to connect to the WRE54G to further isolate the issue?
