Authentucated smartcard user session is terminated immediatedly when card is removed, regardless of httpd SSLSessionCacheTimeout (default 300) setting. Why?

I have installed security device in FF option/advanced tab. Then using smart card to log into my server. The smartcard user is authenticated and secure connection is going smoothly. When the card is removed from the card reader, the connection is immediately terminated, regardless of SSLSessionCacheTimeout settings. Mine is set to 300.
I did same thing with IE, it keeps the connection until the SSLSessionCacheTimeout expires.
It is FF-specific-designed feature? Or I need to do sth specific to FF browser to keep my secure connection based on SSLSessionCacheTimeout setting?
Thanks

Hey,
To answer your question: [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/JavaScript_crypto] this link includes how a developer can control the event handlers upon a smartcard removal. These will only work in FIrefox and may be changed in the furture, this only worked in Firefox 21, so this may not be ideal for you.
<blockquote>
Web sites can make themselves more SmartCard friendly by listening for SmartCard insertion and removal events. To enable your document to receive these events, you must first tell the crypto system you are interested by setting window.crypto.enableSmartCardEvents to true. You can then register event handlers for these events with the document.addEventListener() method.
</blockquote>
Old threads to where this code lives : [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=2708147] I could not find any recent implementations though, it looks like this event is something that happens only serverside?

    "program access and defaults" is not the place to remove programs in Windows. You need to go to the control panel and click on Add and Remove programs. For instructions on how to uninstall Firefox, see [[Uninstalling Firefox]]

    Dear Gurus,
    This is related to general ALV Layout setting. When we choose Select Layout -> Choose Layout, the default layout setting will show All, is there any way by which we can change this to User-specific  Layouts by default? (may be through some parameter id?).
    Many Thanks!

    Can you explain me your requirement in detail.

  • JRE on Terminal Server 2008 won't work in User Sessions

    I have a problem with Java 6 Update 14 on a Windows 2008 Terminal Server.
    Java Applications (from normal websites) are starting in Administrator account without any problems.
    When i start several website with a normal User Account (Internet Explorer 8.0 installed), the Java-Console puts out the following error:
    JNLPException[category: Systemkonfiguration : Exception: null : LaunchDesc: null ]
    Then the Java tray icon is restarting for 1 or 2 times, and then the java-field on the websites stays emtpy.
    Any idea which problem this could be? I think it would be a permission problem, but where i have to search?
    Best Regards
    Wolfgang Bauer

    Now I've tried to install Firefox on the terminal server. Now in user sessions Java is working with Firefox, but not with Internet Explorer, so:
    At Administrator account, Java Applets are working with IE and Firefox.
    At user accounts, Java Applets work only with Firefox.
    So where could be the problem with IE 8.0? When a Java page is loading, the Java tray icon appears for a few seconds, and goes away, 2 or 3 times.
    I've already tried to reinstall Java 6
    We need to open the Websites with Internet Explorer 8

  • Users can only connect to RD farm website and cannot remote into terminal server , when connected via VPN

    Hello,
    I have a RD farm using 3 Win 2012 servers (1 broker and 2 session host), for internal use only, have not
    configured gateway for internet access.
    Users are able to connect to RD farm website and remote into terminal server, within office
    but can only connect to RD farm website and cannot remote into terminal server , when connected via VPN
    Its takes long time at securing connection and fails.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
    First of all I would suggest you to configure RD gateway role on your server and pass all the connection through it because it’s a best practice to use RD Gateway in RDS Farm.
    Apart from this, if you are not using RD Gateway then you must check that you have successfully forwarded port 3389 for RDS to access via VPN. Also check that you have made configuration under IIS Manager to enable Forms Authentication. Please check
    this link.
    In addition, please refer beneath article for additional details.

  • SA520 web access problem, all admin users sessions appears active when it is not true

    Hi, all the users for the management access to my SA520 are blocked via web, all the admin users sessions aparently they seem active, and when i do click on the "continue" button these sessions does not terminate. I guess i have to reset the firewall, but my question is if anybody has the same problem with this device.

    Hi Luis,
    What firmware version are you running? How frequent do you see this occurrence?
    If  possible, when you start to see this issue before all the admin sessions are reporting active,can you provide us the debug logs from your SA  520 so that I can forward to the development  team to investigate?  We are tracking an issue with a customer, but his device takes 3-4 months to show the symptoms you describe.
    To get the dbglog from SA520, login through web UI and in the browser enter the following URL:
    https://LAN_IP_address_of_SA520/scgi-bin/dbglog.cgi
    These logs will store password, so please remove any sensitive information and passwords. Also if you are not comfortable posting the dbglog on the    community, you can send it directly to me through private message.
    Best regards,
    Julio

  • HT200148 using Terminal and when trying to reset it, tells me "no user" help!

    I've done everything until I open Terminal and when trying to reset it, I type "sudo su" it asks for password I then provide pass it takes me to sh-3.2#, I then type mkpassdb -setpassword slot-ID it says no user. can somebody help?

    Are you using the full hex slot-ID, something like 0x0000000000000000000000000000001? If you don't you'll get that error message.
    After that you might notice that it doesn't seem to do any good. I had to reboot before the change "took."

  • Portal Session Not Ended Immediately in Backend Causing ENQ Lock

    Background:
    We have a customized effort logging program running under Portal.  When the user decides not to save the change and just click "logoff" from portal to exit without change.
    Normal Situation:
    Normally, the user session will be terminated immediately in backend once the user logs off portal.  This will then automatically clean up all session buffer and application ENQUEUE via ABAP webdynpro Controller routine.
    Problem Situation:
    Occasionally, it is found that the session is not terminated immediately in ECC backend system.  The session still exists in ECC under SM04 and the previous ENQUEUE still exists in the ENQUEUE table under SM12.
    When the user logs back into the portal to perform the effort logging again immediately after, the application will have error complaining the employee still locked in the ENQUEUE table by the previous transaction.
    Such leftover session will be automatically cleaned up by ECC backend system after 30 minutes timeout.  Even no action is done, the user can resume to the Effort Logging function after 30 min. after the record is locked.

    Hello,
    We are facing the same problem. Could you please let us know the solution for this issue?
    Thank you,
    Nikee

    From what I remember I have also had this issue when Skype wasn't open.
    Yesterday my computer started up beeping - I took the harddisk out and it started normally (initramfs tho). Then I put it back in and the laptop have been running fine so far. I suspect it might just have been a bad connection, but I am giving it time..
    EDIT: Still experiencing the issue..

  • SAPSYS user session  in CLNT 000 not killed

    Hi all!
    I have question.
    When i check in SM04 i have like 50+ user sessions where the user is SAPSYS in clnt 000 the session type is Plugin HTTP. As terminal info there's a IP-number.
    I don't no if its relevant but I'm running an internal ITS. I also run a locally installed IPC (on my laptop since it is a test system).
    My question is why are the sessions not closed down when i log out.
    I understand that the system is creating the sessions.
    Hope you can help me understand!
    //Roland

    Hi Disha!
    We have had memory bottleneck problems and we have applied note 742048 (extending em/global_memory_mb), still this didn't solve the problems with the internal sessions not closing.
    Regards,

  • Killing a user session?

    Running Essbase 11.1.2 ASO cube...occassionally, when I attempt to kill a user session in EAS, I get the status of "terminating". I try to kill the session using Maxl commands to no avail. I know as a last resort to use task manager to end the ESSSVR.exe process -but I have been burned by this in the past as the database gets corrupted. Does anyone know of a safe method to kill these "terminating" sessions? and why are some easy to kill through EAS and others are not?

    Hi ,
    You may find the following entries in the application log which means there were hung sessions.
    +[Mon Jan 24 13:23:46 2011]Local/ESSBASE0///Error(1013290)+
    Failed to logout user []: timeout while waiting for requests to die
    +[Mon Jan 24 13:23:46 2011]Local/ESSBASE0///Info(1056092)+
    Sessions logged out [0]
    However, it is difficult to say why these errors occur exactly. Usually Errors like this occur because there are still processes running in the memory when the next transaction is called.
    A vast majority of errors can be avoided by integrating pauses and by unloading the application and then reloading it after each calculation or member/data load.
    When you kill a session from the EAS Console for a particular user, you need to wait for some time before the process gets compeltely killed, which perform a restructure or data load or data aggregation. You need to wait untill the process gets killed completely before performing any operations on the application.
    Never allow any other user to modify outline or update data whenever the Calculation is running. This can cause the application to go into a hang state and whenever you try to kill and if it fails, then you need to kill the ESSSVR process manually. For instance, follow the below guide lines when running Calc scripts:
    1) Never allow any other user to indulge any activity on the application. It is preferred to schedule the batch script as a nightly process, if it is a large operation to avoid user interruption.
    2) In case of hangups, use the UNLOCKOBJECT command (ESSCMD) to first unlock all the objects that are accessed by the script (Check the technical reference guide for the command ).
    3) Next log off the user using the LOGOUTUSER command, but here if you have multiple sessions of the same user logged in the application, all the sessions will be logged off. In this case use the EAS console and kill all the requests of the user first and then kill the session of the user.
    Suggestion:
    Try to execute the following MaxL commands as batch script and check if the execution of Calculation script is successful:
    spool on to 'D:\output\backup.log';
    login admin mypassword on localhost;
    alter application <app_name> load database <db_name>;
    alter system logout session on database <db_name>;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    alter system kill request on database <db_name>;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    alter application <app_name> disable commands;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    Execute Calculation <app_name>.<db_name>.<calc_name>;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    alter application <app_name> enable commands;
    Shell Sleep 30;
    logout;
    exit;

  • How to add user to a terminal server list ?

    Hi , is there a way out to login users to terminal server remotely without GUI(rdp) from some commandline?
    background:
    i am trying to remote login user after machine restart in order to start a automation test run, so in order for the automation testrun to work properly i need to open a user session on the remote machine. after restart only two entries are found (when qwinsta
    is queried)
    SESSIONNAME USERNAME    ID STATE TYPE DEVICE
    console             administrator 0  active wdcon
    rdp-tcp                                 65536 listen rdpwd
    so i can't use tscon to connect to a user session as not user session exists in the first place?

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    As per your comment, you can login users remotely to terminal server with “mstsc” command line as per below command.
    mstsc [<connection file>] [/v:<server[:port]>] [/admin] [/f[ullscreen]] [/w:<width>] [/h:<height>] [/public] | [/span] [/edit "connection file"] [/migrate] [/?]
    For more information, refer beneath article.
    Use command line parameters with Remote Desktop Connection
