Authorisation object in asset master

Hi
Is there any way to allow user to create asset master for certain cost centre but at the same time allow the same user to display asset master for ALL cost centres.
Noted that the authorisation object KOSTL does not have any associated activity and hence whatever defined in KOSTL will apply to both create and display transactions.
Hope someone could help to advise how to overcome this.

Thanks for your response. If I were to change the settings using SU22, this will apply to all users right?
This cannot solve my problem because for most of the users, their create/display access should be limited to the cost centre. Only a special group of user do we want to allow them to display all the cost centre.
Any other ideas?

Getting Segment in the Asset Master ( Using SEGMENT Badi and not Prt Ctrs)

Hi,
We need the field Segment to be populated in the Asset Master to get the correct P&L Statements ( The depreciation run, retirements etc to post to the Segments) . We are using the segment Badi: FAGL_DERIVE_SEGMENT to derive Segments and NOT the Profit Centers
However, the field Segment missing in Asset Master (Class). The field segment is missing the Time Dependent view while creating the Asset Master Data. This is so because in the Configuration of Asset Accounting --> Integration with GL --> Additional Account
Assignment Objects is not showing the Segment field.
According to SAP help, I CAN DO THIS as mentioned

But, as mentioned in the SAP help link above, I am not able to find " Activate segment reporting in

I found that activation of Business Function FIN_GL_REORG_1
or FIN_REP_SIMPL_3 could also get us the Segment Field in the Asset
Master Data's Time Dependent Field
However, when I goto Transaction SFW5 - Change Business Function Statuswe are not able to find these Business Functions (FIN_GL_REORG_1
or FIN_REP_SIMPL_3 )

Hi, Activate segment reporting is available only in EHP5.
If you'renot using EHP5, then you can't to update segment as well as profit center in asset master data.
The only way is to put co objects in asset master data, and derive PC,segment based on this co objects

Authorisation object for "PO text in the material master"

Hi,
My requirement is as below:
"All users can see the Purchase Order Text as usual, but only a few users should be allowed to create / change the PO Long Text.
For other users, the same should appear in display mode only (both in creation & in change mode, MM01 & MM02)."
Please let me know, How to map this.
As per my knowledge thsi is possible only thru authorisation. But I want to know what is the authorisation object for "PO text in the material master" (Pl note that only for PO text in the material master field). we want control on "PO text of material master"

Error in ME51N - Account object functional area differs from asset master

We are in the middle of going thru an upgrade -
Funds & Functional Area were display fields in the old system but it was recetly changed to required fields in the Asset Master Record (AS01). Now when I try to create a Purchase Requisition for procuring the asset, I get this error - We are in the middle of going thru an upgrade -

The functional area what is comming is not the same in Asset accounting as you get from ME51N.
What functional area you get from ME51N and what is the asset.
Is the functinal area in the cost center not the same as you filled in the asset?

Messg-AAPO189 :Account object Cost Center differs from that in asset master

At the time of Asset Acquisition in T-Code F-90 using Internal order, the system throws the following error:
Message-AAPO189 :Account object Cost Center differs from that in asset master
But in Asset Master data and Internal Order Master data's Cost Centers are same.
And we are not facing this problem for all Assets (only for few asset class only we are facing this error).
Please guide on this.
Note:
We are not using Joint Venture Accounting.

Equipment master record updation in Asset master record

Dear Friends,
I have a query with regard to Equipment master record updation in asset master record. Here we have created equipment in Plant maintenance module and we have created asset in AS01 tcode. When we give the asset number to PM module guys, they can easily update the asset number in their equipment master by changing the equipment master record.
But when we enter the same in asset master record in 3rd tab allocations tab, initially it is accepting the equipment details like equipment number, category, object and tech description, but the same is not available after saving.
Please let me know whether I have to do any customization in asset settings inorder to get the equipment number populated in asset master record.

Attaching document in the Asset master data

Hi All,
If want to attach the supporting document in asset master data, i.e in AS02, AS03 what are the steps that we need to follow to implement this in SAP?
Also while doing asset transfer, how can we transfer the attached documents?
Please provide inputs.

Below is the configuration steps
Have defined a content repository (IMG activity Maintain Content Repositories, transaction OAC0)
Â· Have maintained document types with the status "active" (IMG activity Maintain document types, transaction OAC2).
Â· Have defined Relationships for your object type with the status "active" (IMG activity Maintain relationships transaction OAC3)
Procedure
Then if you check the service object in AS02 it will be in active status.

WBS Field in Asset Master Record

Hi All,
Currently we are working in 4.6 C version.
The requirement of the client is they want the Field WBS to be populated in asset Master Record under the origin Tab or Time Dependent.
The standard functionality is available in ECC6
Could some body help us in knowing how to achieve this in 4.6c, do we the SAP standard Solution or do we need to go for some enhancements.

@ Nitin: Go to Screen layouts (IMG > AA > Master data > Screen layout)
Here, you need to allow WBS Element in your screen layout... Also, if you cant see WBS there, Allow to use WBS element in the IMG Step AA > Integration with GL > Define Additional account assignment objects...
I never worked on 4.6, but I guess WBS must be allowed for usage

WBS in Asset Master

Hi All,
One Asset was mapped to WBS in Asset master at the time of creation (Origin tab in asset master). Now I want to de-link this mapping, or simply put remove/delete this WBS from asset master as client does not wish to settle the project to this Asset. This field is greyed out in AS02 and cant be changed directly. Any pointers on this this WBS can be removed from this mapping?

The only time I've seen what you're describing be the actual case, is when the asset main numbers are the same - but different sub-numbers (appended 4-digit field).
System can have main on the settlement rule, and actually settle to a sub-number instead (asset NOT on the settlement rule).
This happens when the asset master data of the receiver (the one on the settlement rule) does not match the master data objects for the sender AuC (asset under construction) or perhaps an internal order.
Scrutinize the master data for the asset on the settlement rule, comparing it to the sender and then to the one receiving the settled value. I think you'll find the receiver on settlement rule is not a good match. It may be possible to test this by inputting a deactivated date on the General tab of the sub-number (the one NOT on the settlement rule). Then, a settlement error message should be thrown telling you there is no sub-number asset that can receive the settlement.
It is coincidence that that sub-number has the WBS on its Origin tab.
Removing it from Origin tab will not stop settlements to the sub-number if I am correct.

Asset master

Hi all,
I am trying to load asset master by AS91 using standard LSMW.
Program name - RAALTD11,program type-D.
It's able to populate all fields except depreciation area tab & depreaciation value.
Its going to that tab but not transferring any data on that screen.
Eve i see that data in converted data of lsmw.
I used the same program in SAP 5.0 n it worked but in SAP 4.6 or SAP 6.0 its not working.
M not able to get the base of this issue.

you should convert it into data type of 'C' and condense the charactor data object before using it dirctly
theses kind of things happens when you deal with currency field or even packed and float numbers

Flow of Data to Asset Master Record

Hi,
I created a Asset Master record. In 'Origin' Tab in asset master record, there is a space for writing Vendor NAme, MAnufacturer, Acquisition Year, Original Value, etc.
After i create Purchase Order or acquire asset through F-92, i noticed that vendor name, value, etc does not flow to the Asset Master Record.
Please let me now how the data will flow to asset master record ?
Am i missing any entry

please check the Tcode AW01N , this for asset explorer.
In this screen if you select Purchase Order in Object related to Asset tab from the left side of the screen , you will get all vendor details for particular asset.
You can able to see the Migo details also......

Create Asset Master Button does not appear while creating SC.

Dear Friends,
We are working on SRM 5 and trying SSP with classic scenario. The issue is while creating Shopping cart for account assignment Asset, system does not display Create Asset Master button.
We have maintained following configuration in our SRM system.
1.     The authorizations object M_BBP_*** is setup and activated for Employee creating shopping cart as well as RFC user.
2.     Attribute Asset Class (ANK) is maintained in Organization structure as per Backend asset class
3.     Attribute Account Assignment Category (KNT) is maintained for Asset in Organization structure
4.     GL account for product category and account assignment is maintained
Still while creating Shopping cart for Account assignment Asset system does not display button Create Asset Master.
Any idea which setting I am missing?
In R/3 I am able to create Asset master while creating Purchase Requisition.

I can think of 2 ways , 1st is using the Services of Object where u can attach a link or assign a picture linked to the Asset how to do it is usually u go to AS02 then specify the asset to edit then click at System ->services for object-> create external document(URL) and assign the path and name to be attached.
2nd way is using GUIxt which is an external party tools integrated to SAP, which u can design the layout of your maintenance screen and assign a sub routine to link to a picture file by way of asset no.

Hi,
You need to find out the correct BO and event for this purpose. You can activate the event trace and create asset master to find out the right triggering event. You can use this event to trigger a workflow with a send mail step to send out all the details by mail.
You will get some of the required data as event parameters. You can receive these values into the workflow container elements. If you need more details you can use a background step to fetch more details into the workflow container. Once you have all the details in the workflow container you can pass it on to the send mail step and populate it in the content area.
