Authorising a new Windows 8 pc with iTunes.

I transferred my iTunes Media Library from my old Windows XP pc via external drive to my new Windows 8 pc. I then deauthorised the XP pc, but cannot authorise the new W8 pc. The option "Authorise this computer" doesn't come up in the iTunes Store (at end of Music). Help please.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To authorize your PC, first open iTunes and press Alt and S keys to show the menu bar. Then, go to Store menu (on the menu bar, at the top of the window) > Authorize this Computer

  • How to I simply authorize a new windows 8 computer with itunes 11?

I cannot figure out how to authoriza a new computer in the itunes store.  I only have 2 current computers so should be able to do this, just cannot find in itunes11.  Using windows 8.

Store menu -> Authorize. If you don't see the menus, go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":
Why Apple chose to hide the menus by default I cannot explain.

Hi all.  I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues.  Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem.  …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive.  Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab.  Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
    Open the Users folder.
    Open your user folder
    Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
    Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco.  The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”.  Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear.  Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
    Good luck…

  • I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space, and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run t media from an external hard drive? If so, how do I transfer my files?

I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space (32 GB), and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run itunes from an external hard drive? I have tried to follow some of the directions on this site, but am having no success. Thanks.

iTunes will run fine with the media on an external drive.
However, I suggest that a tablet computer with a tiny hard drive is not ideal as the primary computer for managing an iTunes library, even a small one. If you have another machine, perhaps a big, boxy, inexpensive old desktop with a decent amount of storage, that might be a better choice.

    Hey xxCreepyFiaxx,
First, I would try the following suggested steps for when you don't see content in iTunes after updating:
    Quit iTunes.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
Use the Finder (Mac) or Windows Explorer (Windows) to go to the iTunes folder that contains the iTunes library files:
    Mac OS X
    /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
Microsoft Windows Windows XP and Windows 2000
    \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Microsoft Windows Windows Vista and Windows 7
    \Users\username\Music\iTunes\
Drag the iTunes Library file from the above location to the Desktop.
Open the Previous iTunes Libraries folder in the iTunes folder.
Locate the file named iTunes Library YYYY-MM-DD where YYYY-MM-DD is the date you upgraded iTunes (Year-Month-Day).
Drag this file to the iTunes folder (the enclosing folder).
Rename this file to iTunes Library.
    Open iTunes.
You should now see your missing content in iTunes.

It started after I bought a new PC, everything worked fine at the old one.

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

Good.  I hope it's going well!
If not, you should know you need a recent copy of iTunes on your computer.
You should also check out the iPhone Manual:

i cant sync my windows seven contacts with itune because of the "over the air option cant be changed" help me

This sounds like you configured the phone to sync contacts with iCloud or with an MS Exchange email account. If you want to sync directly with your computer you will need to disable the over the air sync settings on the iPhone.

  • New computer, problems now with iTunes

    Hi
We very recently upgraded our computer to a HP and have Windows 7.  Downloaded iTunes 64 and all seemed OK.  We have 2 x iPod Touches (one each for kids) and I have an iPhone 4S.  Tried to open iTunes with one of the iPods and figured out that I had to authorise new computer. Done.  Also had to transfer over from old computer to new computer ????  library (cant remeber now AARRGGHH).  Think i did that correctly.  Problem is now when I link up either Apple device with iTunes via cable (no WI FI) iTunes will not open up automatically, need to shut computer off and restart, iTunes screen freezes and although it shows what apps are on each Apple devive they are all shown superimposed ontop of each other on one sreen.  Any help/suggestions will be appreciated.  i have already removed iTunes and downloaded the programme twice.

  • New iPhone 4, PC with iTunes has died

    Hi there,
I have bought a new iPhone 4 (I queued up for it at an Apple store, here in the UK).
I had (still have - will be donated to a student friend) an iPhone 3G which I have been sync'ing with my PC running iTunes (I have a MacBook Pro, but I don't have much disk space available, hence I run iTunes on my PC). My iPhone 3G has some updated data (contacts - I sync with Outlook 2007, photos, messages etc) on it that I have not sync'd with iTunes.
Unfortunately, the motherboard in my PC has died so the machine will not boot. I have every reason to believe that the hard disk (and data) is ok, I just can't get to it (new PC ordered, should be with me in a few days, but I have my iPhone 4 NOW!! :-))
Obviously I'd like to use my new iPhone 4 now, so I'm trying to work out what I can do. Is it possible to sync my iPhone 3G with iTunes on my MacBook, then sync my new iPhone 4 with my Macbook (so then my iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 both contain the same data), then when I get my new PC and have installed iTunes on it (not sure what to do about my existing iTunes library on my existing PC at this point - should I copy it across to the new PC?), sync my iPhone 4 with my new PC, preserving all my data?
What (and when) do I do about authorised devices?
Most important to me is all my data, so if it's risky in any way, I'll hold back until I have my new PC. I'm particularly worried about the contacts going between iPhones, iTunes, Outlook, and however it works on my MacBook, but all my data is important to me.
Could anyone give me some step by step details on how I can achieve my aims, or say if I should wait until I get my new PC?
Many thanks for any help - I know it's a big ask, but I'd be eternally grateful.

Does it sound like the device drivers havent been installed properly?

  • Had iphone, it broke, have new iphone, cant sync with itunes

I had an iphone 3g for about a month and it died. I got my new one today and when I plugged it into my computer to sync with itunes nothing happened. I then opened itunes but itunes is not "seeing" my new phone and I can't do anything with it. Anyone know how to help me reset and find my new phone in itunes? Thanks so much!

FOUND IT! This was so simple I'm shocked everyone on here didn't know about it. Here is the solution to my problem-maybe it can help others who can't sync!
    FOUND THE ANSWER!!
Apparently when you plug your iPhone in to your computer, Windows will "sometimes" install the drivers as a camera, putting them in the wrong place. This is why it will pop up in Windows so you can take photos off, but iTunes can't see it. SO, what you have to do is move the driver file (USBAAPL.SYS) to the correct location. Follow the directions I found below & your iTunes should be fixed (worked for me):
What works is to just force the drivers on what windows thinks is a camera, i.e. to ‘update’ the device to use the correct driver. There are some hints on how to do this already listed on this forum, but I’ll try to give some more detailed information:
    1. First off you need to have iTunes installed and the ipod touch plugged in
and recognized as ‘something’ e.g. digital camera (it shouldn’t really
matter what it’s recognized as, but it needs to be found by windows).
    2. Search for usbaapl in the C:\WINDOWS system folder:
o open windows explorer (e.g. Right-click Start and then click ‘explore’)
o right-click the WINDOWS folder and select ‘Search’).
o type in usbaapl and hit Search – try to ignore the dog!
You should find the driver info in a sub folder of
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE e.g. C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7 507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B
Remember that location (either leave the search box open or copy the folder
name into note pad – you’ll need it later)
If you don’t find usbaapl.sys, usbaapl.inf etc. then your drivers have not
been installed with the iTunes install and you’ll have to reinstall iTunes.
    3. Locate the ipod-camera device:
o Open the device manager, e.g. using Start > Control Panel >
Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager
o Look for a device called ‘ipod’ - if your ipod shows up as
‘digital camera’ it will be under something like ‘imaging devices’.
    4. Update the driver:
o Right click the ‘ipod-camera’ in device manager and click on
‘Update Driver’ – the Hardware Update Wizard will open.
o Check the ‘Install from a list or specific location’ then click ‘Next’
o Check ‘Search for the best driver in these locations’. Un-check
‘Search removable media’ and check ‘Include this location in the search’.
In the text box below type (or better copy and paste) the folder
containing the ipod driver information found in step 1 (in the example
    above it was C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7 507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B),
    then click Next.
You should now see something like ‘Apple ipod device driver’ or so. Continue
installing that device. Once the driver has been installed the ipod will come
to life and iTunes (if you have it open) will show it.
If for some reason this doesn't work, try downloading the file here:
    http://www.runscanner.net/files/sys...sbaapl.sys.aspx
    And putting it here:
    C:\ WINDOWS\ system32\ drivers\ usbaapl.sys
