Authorising Computer

My trouble started when my iPhone kept on flashing that I had used the wrong Apple ID or Password, when I had not changed either.  After numerous unsuccessful tries, I firstly change my Apple ID and then my Password.  I am now back to my original ID with a different Password. (I tried to use the original password but it was rejected because it had been used within a year.)  I now have this problem.  Each time I tried to synchronise the iPhone with my computer, it kept prompting me to authorise the computer, which I did but it came back with the message that the computer has been authorised but when I attempt to synchronise the iPhone with the computer or download updates, it prompts me again to authorise the computer.   I did all what the Apple Support suggested - Turn Off User Account Controls and deleting the SC Info foler - to no avail.
My iCloud also tells me that my password is invalide.
Anybody able to help?

Did you purchase/or do you own the songs on your work computer? If you don't own the rights to these songs, that may be why you're having trouble right now.

  • Where is the authorise computer in Itunes Store menu?

Hi ... can anyone advise where on Itunes Store is the menu showing authorise computer.  Am currently trying to sync my iphone 3GS to a new PC.........

I tried all of these without success then had a stroke of luck. I only downloaded itunes today and could not find the "store" menu item. I finally found a tiny icon in the very top left of the itunes screen (looks like a page of paper with the left half black and right half white) and a tiny triangle beside it. When I clicked on it, it gave a drop down menu. One item was "show menu bar". When I clicked this it opened a menu bar that had the "store" as an option and voila!!! there was "authorise this computer" as an option. Easy once you know how!!!!

You are looking at the drop-down menus at the top of iTunes e.g. on a Mac :
If you are on iTunes 11 on Windows then press Alt-S and the Store menu should appear at the top.

  • HT1420 Can I download a movie onto my authorised computer and then copy if onto USB stick to put in the TV?

Can I download a movie onto my authorised computer and then copy if onto a USB to plug into our TV?

If you mean a movie purchased from the iTunes Store then the answer is no. Movies purchased from the iTunes Store are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) in this case using Apple's 'FairPlay' scheme and this prevents you simply copying and playing the file.
You can however purchase a movie from the iTunes Store and either play it via iTunes on a Mac or PC which could be connected to your TV, or you can use an Apple TV device which is specifically made for this purpose.
    See http://www.apple.com/appletv/
If on the otherhand you mean just a movie you have downloaded from a website which is nothing to do with Apple's iTunes Store then it very much depends on the format of the movie. Some 'Smart' TVs can play some movie file formats from USB memory sticks. You will need to check the specs of your TV to see what formats it supports.

  • HT1848 where is the 'authorise computer' in itunes?

    Hi folks
When I charge my iphone through my imac, I get the message that there is an upgraded OS which I should download.
But when I say yes to that, the message is that I should transfer purchases from my phone to itunes.
The process for this is supposed to be:
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Authorize Computer.
In the dialog that appears, the Apple ID button is selected by default.
Enter your Apple ID and password, then click the Authorize button.
But I can't find the 'authorise computer' command in itunes.
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks

  • Can't Authorise Computer :(

While I was trying to install an application from my iTunes to iPad, it said that I could not install it as "this" computer was not "authorized".
I went to Store>Authorize this Computer, and then entered my ID and password. The authorisation process was successful, and it was my first authorised computer out of 5 allowed. Striaght after this I again selected the app, and clicked Apply. It again came with a window saying that this computer was NOT authorised. I repeated the procedure and I was told that this computer was already authorised.
I re-started iTunes, re-connected iPad, but again I could not transfer (install) ANY application on iPad. However, I've observed that I can uninstall any application without authorisation. wierd !!
Any clue what's going on here? Thanks in advance
PS. I hated iTunes, and now I hate it more I just can't believe this is Apple's own software!

When selecting the program iTunes from your start menu, right click the program name and click on "Run as Administrator".
    Worked for me.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
After installing iTunes on your computer, open it and choose Store menu (on the menu bar) > Authorize this Computer. If you have iTunes 11, you may not see the menu bar, so press Control and B keys

  • TS1389 iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorise computer even after the computer is already authorised

iTunes repeatedly prompts me to authorise computer before playing a particular song. The problem persists even after I've authorised my computer. When I try to authorise again, it acknowledges that my computer is alrady authorised but the song will still not play.

Bought a song off iTunes Store on my iphone, came home, synced with my computer, and had the same problem with being asked for authorization. I authorized and recieved messages telling me my computer was authorized, yet it kept asking for authorization repeatidly every time I attempted to play the song. The song no longer worked on my iphone as well once I synced with my computer.
I took newriii's advice, deleted the song off my iTunes, logged on the iTunes Store, viewed my purchases, downloaded the song once again, and it now works fine.
    Weird bug, yo.

  • Trying to set up ereader for library books but unable to authorise computer.

I am trying to set up a Kobo Aura ereader to borrow and read library books. I have verified my Adobe ID. Each time I try (I installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Digital Editions) I am unable to authorise my Windows 7 computer. I get the following error message.

I am going crazy setting up this ereader. Please help me!

Let's try this first.  Press the wireless button on the front of the printer and execute a "Restore Defaults".
Next, restart the router by pulling its power plug momentarily, then try the WPS procedure again.  If that does not work, contact your ISP to see if the WPS button is functional.
If it is not, let me know and I can walk you through a much harder, but effective technique.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • HT204053 how to I remove an authorised computer when it is no longer working and accessible?

I want to deauthorise a couple of computers that is now no longer working. How can I do it as I have no access to the authorised computers.

If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five,
(Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)
Then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time..

  • Itunes keeps asking to authorise computer when ipod is connected

Hi, every time I connect my iPod to iTunes I get the message "This computer is no longer authorised to play purchased items that are on the iPod.Would you like to authorise this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?". I can click cancel, authorise or don't authorise. When I click authorise and enter my login details I get "This computer is already authorised". As soon as I click ok on this I get the first message again. I don't want to click 'don't authorise' I'd loose all my purchased items, When I click 'cancel' it will eject my iPod from iTunes but doesn't update it.
My computer is already authorised & has been for well over a year. I can play all my purchased items on iTunes. This problem only started about a month ago & now means I'm unable to add or remove anything from my iPod. I have the latest version of iTunes, I've tried unauthorising my computer through my account the authorising it again but this hasn't helped.
Can anyone suggest anything that can help please? Thanks in advance

Delete and redownload those songs if doing so is free in your country.

  • I have always synced my Iphone 4 to a previous laptop but now want to use a new (already iTunes authorised) computer. I don't mind losing music but want to know if I will lose data such as photos or texts? Thanks,

    Hi,
I have an iphone 4, using IOS 5.0.1 and have always synced it to my laptop (windows vista, 32 bit). I have recently bought a new desktop computer (Windows 7, 64 bit) and after putting it off for a while, i've decided to bite the bullet and sync my iphone with my new computer. I have already authorised my itunes account on my new computer, and i don't mind loosing music. I am more concered though about the risk of loosing my text messages and photos on my phone.
Could anyone please tell me if i will loose the messages and photos from my phone when syncing to a new computer.
    Thanks alot,
    Chris.

When you connect the iPhone to sync with the new computer,  a number of things will happen. If the new computer/iTunes does not contain any music, then yes, you will receive a prompt saying this iPhone is synced to another library, and if you continue, you will lose your music. However, you risk losing a number of other things, such as apps, contacts and calendar data. When you ask about photos, any photos that you have on the iPhone that were synced from the previous computer would also be lost. You need to save the photo folder from the old laptop and transfer that to the new desktop. You also need to sync the contacts and calendar to the same supported application that you were using in the past, such as Outlook, unless you are using an outside web-based sync, such as Google. Also, when you first connect the iPhone, it will make a backup, or at least make sure that it does before you attempt to sync, or you will not have a backup of some of the other things, such as mail settings, SMS, and the contents of the Camera Roll. I would import the photos from the camera roll to the new computer before trying to do anything else in iTunes.

  • HT1420 transferring music from iphone to newly authorised computer

how do I transfer music from my iphone to a newly authorised computer

The iphone is not a backup device.  The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Insufficient privileges, permissions error, cannot authorise computer for Itunes

I am trying to authorise my computer to itunes and get this error message: "The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."
How do I add my computer to the devices on itunes if I do not appear to have the correct privileges or permissions?

Yes, this worked for me.  I was hesitant to use terminal b/c I know that an error could wipe out my hard drive or render my computer unusable.  So to be SURE I didn't make an error, I carefully copied the command from that page you recommended and *pasted* it into terminal.  In my case, the folder was there, so I needed the command to change permissions on the folder, not to create one.  What was confusing for me was that the iTunes error message said to change permissions in the FINDER, which is what I was trying to do.  It didn't mention Terminal, and people who are not computer savvy or comfortable using a command line app will be intimidated by Terminal.  What would really be helpful is if Apple included a link to a page like this in their error message.
Also, before I could do anything in terminal, I had to go change my admin password (it had been a blank password before and that's not acceptable for making changes in Terminal).  People need to know how to do that, too.  For the casual user who just wants to watch or listen to their iTunes purchases, this can all be pretty intimidating and frustrating.  I like to experiment and see what different GUI commands do, and try out freeware, but even I am cautious about using Terminal.
