Authorization & Deauthorization of computers for iTunes
I have not been able to deauthorize computers associated with my account. I followed the iTunes help article#HT1420 which indicated to sign into my account via iTunes store and view my account and then there is supposed to be a button to deauthorize all computers (I am at my limit of 5)and I have not deauthorized any computers in the last 12 months. Unfortuantely, there is no button present when I view my account for doing so, all the other buttons are present to edit account info. Any ideas ? thanks

Have to deauthorize old computers for iTunes but can't log in
I have a new home network with a desktop and laptop. I have had iTunes for years and have authorized computers but no have replace all of them over the years and I can't get my most recently purchased computer until I can log into iTunes. I am told that my Apple ID has not been approved for iTunes ID and I keep getting into a loop when I try to enter iTunes. Can someone please help me? There appears to be no telephone number where I could speak to a human being one on one at Apple or iTunes. Is this possible?
Hi EdCalvo2005,
If you have forgotten the password for the Apple ID you used for setting up this iTunes Store account you can reset it using the steps in this article -

Can I authorize more than 5 computers for iTunes?
It appears you are going to have to find the least used Mac to authorize then.

How to "deauthorize all computers" in iTunes?
A computer has died I am attempting to deauthorize all computers in iTunes in order to remove it from the authorized computer list. However, none of the other "authorized" computers display the "Deauthorize All Computers" option on the "Store" menu in iTunes. I am running ITunes 12.0.1.26. Why is the "Deauthorize All Computers" not being displayed and how do I deauthorize the dead computer without it?
launch iTunes and sign in then go to your accounts settings.

How to authorize my new computer for iTunes
how to authorize my new computer?
Hi
The process to activate a computer in itunes is similar for Mac and Windows.
On the Mac OS X start iTunes. Click on Store in the menu bar and choose authorize this computer. In the text Field enter your apple id username and password and click ok. You should receive a message stating “Including this one you have authorized X computers out of your available 5”, Where X is the number of devices you have authorized with your apple ID.
Please note that you can authorize maximum 5 computers with the same apple id.
That means you can play the content you purchased with that Apple ID on up to 5 computers.
The detailed information regarding how to authorize/deauthorize can be found at :

Deauthorizing computers for itunes
is there any way to deauthorize only one computer? I have purchased a new Macbook Air. My apple ID is already used on 5 previous Macs (I've been a heavy users of Macs over the years). In order to use my itunes effectively on my new Air, I will need to authorize this new computer, but I have exceeded my limit of 5 computers. It seems to me that I have to "deauthorize all computers" first, then go to each computer that I want to keep and authorize each of them by powering each of them up, logging into itunes on each computer and authorizing each indvididually. It would have been much easier to simply log into one o them, check which computers I want to continue to authorize and deselect the ones that I do not want to keep. Is there any way to do this easily? Help appreciated. thx

Authorizing/Deauthorizing computers for itunes
What happens when I deauthorize all computers on my itunes account? I no longer own some of the authorized computers and I've used up my maximum of five. Thanks!
They all deactivate, then you can just reactivate all the computers you still have. I do this about once a year also since my computers are always changing/reloaded and I hit that 5 max. You won't lose anything.

I am trying to authorize both computers for itunes
I'm having problems authorizing both my macbook pro and my imac for my itunes account access. I have managed to authorize my macbook, but the following message appears when I try to authorize my imac.
"There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer - The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."
I have tried deauthorizing my imac and starting again, but still can't access my music that I have on my macbook. The only way I can is by home sharing while my macbook is on... which is annoying! I have purchased items on itunes on my macbook that I would like to store on my imac.
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!paigefrombrisbane wrote:

i need to de-authorize a computor that no longer works. i undersatnd that i need to de-authroize all computors associated with this acount and then authrorize each computor that i want. question : will i lose my music libary??
No, you won't lose anything. De-authorising only means not allowing a computer to play purchased content but it won't delete the file.

How can I cancel an old Imac from apple 5 computers for Itunes?
hello from Italy
I got a new MAC and I want to use it on my family account but on Itunes I already have 5 devices registred on an Itunes account, how can I cancel old devices?
happy ChristmasDe-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
For more information on authorization and de-authorization: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
