How do I authorize my computer for the new iTunes? There is no longer a "store menu" so that is not the answer.

From the top Menu ( Ctrl B to show in windows)

    If you're running iTunes 11 and you don't see the menus, press Control-B or go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":
    Apple for some inexplicable reason elected to hide the menus by default in the Windows version of iTunes 11.
    I doubt that this will address a download problem, though. You'll need to provide more details about that; what device you're attempting the download on, the exact error message, and other such pertinent information.

    Delete the song (move it to the Trash) and download it again under iTunes Store>Quick Links>Purchased>Music>Songs>Not in My Library.

    Itunes is saying that my computer isn't authorized. Its the first time ive used my id since 2010 and the computer I had then is junked. Now I have a hp laptop and I can;t authorize this computer. I can't use anything I buy. What do I do?

    There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
    The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
    If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
    Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
    Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • ITunes + authorization + iDVD = frustration

    So I created an iMovie video on my Powerbook. Thought I'd add some music from iTunes. Purchased 5 songs, and then took my project to work to burn on my faster G5. So I've authorized my G5 so many times I'm blue in the face and should send Apple an invoice. Is there a reason for the continual authorizations? It doesn't make any sense. Anyway, I open my iMovie project in iDVD and am asked to authorize the 5 songs, again and again and again and again and again. Shouldn't one time be enough? And for good measure, I think I was asked to authorize them one more time during the audio encoding. Anyway, so I burn my iDVD... and the songs didn't burn! So what the flip is going on?

    I was just thinking the same thing.... I hesitated days before I used the 7.3.1 update...now I wish I never had. There are many strings on this. I have one that starts with FIX ITUNES 7.3.1..... one huge responder F Shippey said it will be mid August before it gets done, at the earliest.
    I have a real catch-22...my guys album came out exclusively on iTunes, it is not on a CD yet....boy have they been burned!
    Lets all get on it and see if we cant get it done sooner
    Latest out is that iTunes has sold 3 billions songs.
    ......and NONE of them can be used in iLife or iDVD.!!! Great marketing guys.

  • Itunes, just frustrating..authorize, deauthorize, HELP!!!

    Hi all,
    Before we owned our Macs we had itunes on a few other computers, which of course all died, etc. All my songs are on itunes but won't sync to my ipod. When I click on a song or movie it says my limit of 5 computers have been used and one must be deauthorized.
    When I got into my itunes account to do exactly that it tells me only 3 computers are authorized under my itunes account. There's the puzzle!
    I know I deauthorized all the other computers at some point or another and we only have the 3 computers we own now authorized, but yet I get that message for some songs that there's 5 when my itunes account says 3..

    These problems happen occasionally, call Apple support and ask them to fix it for you... If you already have reset your 5 machines once before you will have to do it.
    Try reinstalling iTunes as well

  • ITunes is telling me my computer is no longer able play purchased items on my ipod unless i authorize my computer. But it's already authorized.

    And when i DO try and authorize it, it's fine but then the error message comes up again. It seems fine, i already synced it once and the music was still there, but i can't apply any new podcasts to it this way since it won't complete the synching process? I think? I don't really know it's just very annoying. Why, if i'm already authorized, is it saying i'm NOT??

    Sorry, I don't have a response. I just wanted to say that I have the exact same problem. It started about a week ago and a number of songs that I've purchased have been deleted from my ipod when I sync.
    It's very frustrating.

  • I bought an album, but one of the songs had trouble downloading. I re-downloaded it and now I still cannot play it, I get stuck in an "Authorize device" loop.

    This device has been authorized for my apple account for quite sometime, and it says so when I log in to authorize it. But after "authorizing" when I double click my song it once again asks me to "Authorize device" by login in with my apple I.d. This is very frustrating and I want what I have already paid for.

  • How do I get a song to play when it requests authorization, I authorize it, then iTunes acknowledges it was already authorized and still won't play?

    I have gone through several different troubleshoots and still the problem remains. Inside the "get info" tab on the song it says that it was authorized by my account. The song is part of an album where I purchased the entire album. Out of the 14 songs I purchased on the album, 2 bring up the following screen when clicked on to play:
    This computer is not authorized to play "You Reign Alone". Would you like to authorize it?
    To play this song you must authorize this computer to play songs using this account. You may authorize up to 5 computers for each account.
    So I input the Apple ID and password for the account and it gives me the following screen:
    This computer is already authorized.
    Including this one, you have authorized 3 computers out of your available 5.
    But nothing has changed. I still can't play the song. As I said above, I checked the Get Info tab on the song and it showed the account I had logged in for authorization. Is there something I can do to get iTunes to play the songs I purchased?
    (Side question: does anyone know how to email iTunes support. They say on the website that it can be done, but 45 minutes of frustrated screen hopping landed me nowhere but the same FAQs and Express lane call in support options. I just wanted a simple email option.)

  • ITunes Won't Authorize for Automatic Downloads & Account Information Viewing

    So I've been having a problem signing into iTunes for the last few days now. First off, I've isolated the problem to my MacBook Pro and verified that Mac OS X/iTunes were both up to date. I've reinstalled iTunes and restarted. I've tried re-athorizing my computer for the Store. I've tried reseting my network configuration by deleting the NetworkInterfaces.plist. I've even tried deleting the SC Info folder. Nothing has worked. At all. What is happening is that whenever I go to authorize Automatic Downloads or to view my Account in the iTunes Store, it just keeps prompting me without ever signing in. I can see the progress bar moving to signify it's attempting to connect but it always fails to do so. Oddly enough and despite not being able to update my apps, it's actually somehow updated a few of them. Could this perhaps be a case of my ISP not having the correct ports open? At this point, I really don't know what else it could be. Anyway, this is just becoming more and more frustrating by the day. Please help!

    Let me guess: you changed hardware or did major system changes? Like Windows needs to be activated again after such changes, iTunes needs too. Just deauthorise the PC and authorise again, should fix the problem.

  • How do I authorize my computer? I can not find the "Authorize This Computer" option anywhere.

    PLEASE READ ALL EMAIL. ANYONE THAT CAN HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. As you read through the emails, you will see that "C" the customer service person responds the same way. All the emails are from the same thread.  I would reply to his email, he would, I guess, copy and paste an answer, and the response is the same. He never pays attention to the previous emails. HELP PLEASE!!!

    I do not get an error, I do not even get the authorization dialog. I have sent 2 screen shots, they are attached.
    When I try to play an iTunes store purchase, a bubble pops up and states that this computer is not authorized. It does not pop up account name or password. I have also completed everything stated in the http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389  link.
    This is very frustrating.

  • I have itunes 12 and protected acc music files will to play- and computer wont authorize- 2 plus hour on phone w/ apple and no help.

    Apple authorized retailer just transferred my data from "dead" late 2009 macbook pro to my new matchbook with retina. Now itunes12 will not play songs listed as protected acc files that i bought from iTunes. so i know what that term means but spent over two hours on he phone with apple trying to resolve with no luck but the rep swears they should play and the protected part is not the issue. Songs were purchased when i had a pc ( he said thats not the issue) and i had no issues with previous computer playing them.  Also when i try to play them now it prompts mo to authorize the computer and it will NOT let me . (not sure if its b.c they were bought when iTunes let you use a user name only and not needing @ .....email address.) And i dont have the password and cant get it though find my apple id b/c its not really a true  apple id- tried adding the @ and my email but tray did not work.
    SO , 1.  Anyone else have this issue or suggestions on what to do? 
         2. was told i need to find old password to authorize computer but cant , as i said , find it though apple id site.....so have no clue whist to do .... already spent 20.00 repurchasing some out of frustration.
    This came to my attention  when i tried to since my phone and was told id loose 60 songs b/c computer not authorized- so i stopped and they play in the phone   then tied to sync iPod and same issue but by accident pressed wrong key and lost songs off iPod that would play on that. so now they are on my purchased list and can see they were purchased with just a same / no address when i fog to about file.....any suggestions. help...please ...was already in the phone with someone various times for total of over 4 - 6 hours trying to fix multiple apple id issue so i could at least back up my phone which is dying so when i get new one if anything goes wrong i have my picts. and music backed up to computer.
    3.last issue -  was told by one person that now i have to either do family share b/c of songs bought with different id's(at that point dint know about first issue but knew i had used @me and @ mac by accident to buy songs and was told they now would not play if i was not signed in with the id it was purchased with?? is that true?
    b/c i have play list for my car that have songs from both ids .....so hen said that would be an issue ? its not now on my phone (old 3GS) they all play.

    This worked brilliantly!!! Thank you so much!! Pre is set......only issue now is that fact that half my music in iTunes is in a Protected AAC file format that the Pre can't play

    Upgraded Snow Leopard Server to Lion Server
    Mailserver
    VPN Server
    Opendirectory master
    Fileserver AFP and SMB
    --> breaking a lot!
    1.) Unable to set up a Opendirectory replica
    Installed Lion Server from scratch on another system. Any effort to make it a replicating od server to the first one fails and falls back to "connected to network directory"
    I am completely lost, walking through server.app, server_admin, directory utility, work group manager, command line, tons of logs on both systems. I GIVE UP (in SnowLeopard these things were not point and click easy, but at least worked eventually).
    2.) Unable to get VPN working
    Not changing anything at all, neither my iPad(2), nor my iPhone(4), both running iOS 4.3.3, can't get the VPN up and running. VPND gets something but keeps sending out new ip addresses (probably the client retries a few times, before giving up, while vpnd thinks connection is set up). The log doesn't really help me a lot:

    3.) Trying to use Profile Manager to push VPN profile to the devices
    I haven't used profile manager before but it looked promising. But I couldn't get it working. I managed to enroll my MacBook Pro immediately without any further problems. For my mobile devices I struggled with two problems.
    a) My iPad is configured to use german language. This leads to the problem that the link "prefs:...." does not work. The device obviously does not know what to do with it. Since the same operation at least called preferences in my iPhone, I changed the only difference I could think of and setting iPad to English did the trick. After that I managed both devices to call preferences and trust my certificate...
    b)... I thought. Because when I wanted to enroll either device I get an error: "The server certificate for https://......... is invalid."
    4.) Mailserver
    I got most things working.
    -Individual mail quotas - I dnon't know where to configure this. Not so important - the previous values where migrated.
    +Aliases where initially inactive --> running newaliases did the trick.
    +Mailclients from internal network were not able to send mails -- had to insert in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = reject_invalid_helo_hostname reject_non_fqdn_helo_hostname
    5.) SMB fileserver
    Got it working, generally. One strange behaviour is an accounting software on a win7 client. It breaks with a runtime error 56 or so. All files are visible and read and write permissions are set. No idea what got this broken.
    After having spent several of my free days trying to work these things out, without success, I am so frustrated I can hardly describe it. It's been one of my worst experiences. Lion is such an enormous step backwards in regard of missing documentation and operability. Administration is massively more complex than before because you have to use more different tools and for many configuration items you don't really get good feedback regarding what they do to your system.
    I still hope most of my problems stem from my own stupidity and, once documentation is available, things will clear up. Meanwhile I am considering downgrading to SnowLeopard on my devices, not upgrading other ones and reorient towards my Linux and Android devices.
    I am really disappointed to this end.

    We are seeing similar issues with SMB sharing. Basic file access, creation, etc., seems to work fine, but some software just borks badly. Our mail processing app refuses to run off of the Mac share. It used to run fine off of our Linux shares.
    Sometimes Windows 7 will report that a file is already open by another user. Sometimes what is happening is that you do not have permisison to open the file. It should say "Access denied", but for some reason it thinks the file is already open. I've never seen this on Samba/Linux, only Lion/SMBX.
    Other times, I have seen a document saved in Windows 7. When the user attempts to open it again, again it claims that the file is already open by another user. It's like it put a lock on the file between saves. Re-connecting to the share usually fixes this, but it should not be necessary.
    I attempted to use Client Services for NFS (available in Wisdows 7 Ultimate) to get arround these issues. That was even worse.

    Have a Mac Power Book  bought 2005 when living in the US. Installed iTunes and set up an account. Have since dowloaded music, videos etc worth $1000s to my computer.... Last year 2012 my HD crashed and I had a new installed with operating system OS X 10.5.8. Can't upgrade to later systems. Before the crash I had long  since moved out of the US and forgotten my old user ID and password for iTunes as I hardly ever purchased any music or used the program. Luckily I had my library saved on external HD and on my iPod. I just bought an iPod Nano this Xmas and when I was going to download music to it I realized I had problems. iTunes claims being the latest version (10.6.5) but the Ipod Nano want 10.7 to be able to work with iTunes. I then started to try to access my music and  iTunes that I had not been using since the crash. It was an upgraded version and had new unfamiliar functions. I tried, to the best of my ability, to set up the account but to my frustration I can no longer access the $1000s worth of purchased music and music videos. ITunes just give me " I have already authorized this computer Including this one, you have authorized one computer out of your available 5". I only have this computer with iTunes! Is it a bug and how can I access my music?? I undestand I most likely will have to purchase a brand new computer to be able to use my iPod Nano I allways loved Mac and it's programs for its simplicity as I am no computer vizard but I am now desperate and at my wits end HELP!!

    In iTunes, do Store->View my AppleID
    Click "Deuthorize ALL"
    Then, on any computers you still have, do Store->Authorize this computer.  If there are less than 5, you will have no problem.
    You can only do "deauthorize all" once a year, so in the future, if you ever throw a computer away, remember do to "Store->Deauthorize this computer" first.
