Authorization fu00FCr BEx Variants

Hello,
does anyone have an idea if the Variants für BEx Querys can be authorized?
A user creats a BEx Variant ans every user who is autorized for this Query / WB can see this variant and use it.
Can this be authorized that everybody can only see his own variants?
We have BI 7.0, but we still use BEx 3.5 for Reporting.

Hello Joe,
There is Authorization variable where you can restrict the user based on the characteristics value and characteristics level, but its not possible to hide the variable according to users.
For example, if you want to hide the sales region from Emp A, then you can set the user profile to see only the sales region he is authorized to, provided the Sales Region is Authorization enabled.
You can set the Authorization using Tcode RSSM (BI3.5)
You can also Personalize the variable values according to the users.

I would like to create lot of BEx Variant automaticlly on a Workbook. But now, I just found the Variant stored in table VARID(ID) , VARIT (Text) , VARI ( ? ) and TRDIR .
But the data which stored in these tables are not I want.

What is the version of BW/BI (3.x or 2004s) you are using?
In BW 3.x these are stores in VARI & VARID
In BI 2004s these are in RSRVARIANT & RSRVARIANTDIR
You can look athe function modules RS_VARIANT_CREATE, RS_VARIANT_DELETE and RS_VARIANT_EXISTS.
But if you are using 2004s , forget it these functions are not useful anymore.because when you create variants in 2004s they gets stored in RSRVARIANT & RSRVARIANTDIR, but the function modules are looking at VARI & VARID tables.

Query (bex) variants

Hi,
I've crated a variant for query bex, now I want to execute this query with this variant default setting.
Moreover, if it's possibile, setting this variant default only for the user xxxx.

It is possible to do it through URLs where the query is called with a variant.
To do it in BEx, it has to be through workbook or through custom VBA where the query is called with a variant. Haven't tried teh latter but should be possible. Have definately done the former.
Another thing to explore is using authorizations but if it is for one user, then that won't work too well. Create another query instead, if it critical.

How to transport BEX variants in BI?

Hi,
after the bw-upgrade we have problems with the transport of our variants created in BEX. In BW 3.1 we used saplsvar ( with report-id and variantname) to create a transport. But this doesn't work with BI. Does anyone know which parameter saplsvar need to create a transport in BI?- Or which other alternativ exists to transport a variant.

the new variants will be stored only in RSRVARIANT, but not in the VARID. In VARID are only the variants saved in 3.x version.
But how can I transport RSRVARIANT; its a SAP-table?
I'm looking for a program like RSTRANSP, because this program will not work with BI.

Variant Catalog (BEx variant)

Hello all,
While creating a variant in Bex, i have checked 'Only display in catelog'.and save the variant..Now how can i can see the variant and change it?
from help, If you select the field Do not display variant, the variant name appears in the directory, but not in the general input help.

I don't remember what the resolution was. But it was solved.

No authorization for screen variant

Have you checked the authorizations for the object K_PVARIANT? In order to access different screen variants, the user should have the appropriate values for this object.

Administration authorization on ALV Variant

In SAP List Viewer we previously had Administration authorization with SD_MAINTAIN_ALL authoirzation.
But since the upgrade to ERP2005 this is not enough and we can't change the layout (display variant) because the Settings -> Layout -> Administration option is inactive.
Anyone got a clue here? Which authorization object should the user have in order to Save layouts of an ALV list.

Thank you very much for your answer.
You are referring to when you call the FM yourself but VA45 is standard SAP where it's not really possible to change the call.
Anyway.
We tested with S_ALV_LAYO and the activity '23' = Maintain but that didn't work. Then we AGAIN tested with the SD_VARIANT_MAINTAIN and 'A' and then it worked. So we did do something wrong previously but I don't know what.

Authorization in BEx Query Designer: "read only" for definitions of variables

I`m developing a concept of authorizations for key user who should be able to maintain certain
objects in the query designer. For other objects they should have access “read only”.
The users have authorizations to design new queries. They should be able to use existing variables
(SAP Business Content ( 0*) and customer variables (z*). On this point, I have a problem: in the selection window of the query designer there are only buttons to create, to delete and to edit a variable.
The user must have authorizations for changing, although he just wants to look for the definition
of a variable (if he wants to see their basic or global settings before using the variable).
I can´t find a possibility to switch from “edit” to “read only”.
The users should only see and apply variables from others (SAP, collegues), but he mustn´t be able to
change them.
The user needs the following authorization objects: S_RS_COMP , activity =02 (change), also
authorization object S_RS_COMP1. If I give the users only activity 03 (display),
the user get the message: “display not allowed”.
Is there any possibility to give a key user the authorization to display all variables with
their definitions?

This is may be due to the authorization but still you can check the consistency check for these queries using RSRV.

Authorizations in BEX

Dear Gurus,
I am stuck with a strange issue. A power user is assigned with create version and is approver of COPA roles.
Still user is not able to access some finance reports through BEX. Whenever I run the report using my credentials I get the results, when user uses her credentials, we get no results retreived.
My understanding is that the Create version also includes the View capabilities, so where can i check which further Authrizations are required?
Is there a way to find what all roles are applied to a info provider in BW3.5 enviornment?

Saurabh-
SAP BW Security is a function of the back end system. The version of Bex is somewhat irrelevant. You'll need to determine which version of security you are using- BW 3.x security, or BW 7 security.
BW 3.x security is managed using transaction code RSSM and of course PFCG
BW 7 security is managed using transaction RSECADMIN, and PFCG is used to further develop roles.
The topic of security is very deep, and the possibly problems are endless. A long talk with whomever manages your security designs is in order.

Authorization for BEX Query

      I badly need your help.i need to give authorization for a particular query.As of now when i execute that query it gives me "No Authorization" message. what authorization object i need to include in that role? Am sure that there should be some business content authorization object for the current situation.

you need:
s_rs_comp    -- for querries
s_rs_comp1   -- for querries including the username, this is usefull if you would like to allow a user to change and create only his/her querries
s_rs_hier    -- if hierarchies used in the querrie
s_rs_icube   -- if autorization is switched on for the Cube
s_tcode for rrmx of course
s_gui and s_rfc for workbooks
you can check the authorization process for a user with su53 and rssm

Query (SQ01): Variant authorization

Hello experts,
I made a query from SQ01.
I want create a variant on this query but with only authorization to specific user.
How can I restric authorization to one variant of query in order that can only be executed by specific user ?
Example:
SQ01 query name: Z_QUERY_1
Variant name: V1_Q_1
User: USER1
Only user USER1 must have authorization to execute variant V1_Q_1

Costing Variant authorization Error

Dear Experts,
While creating Sale Order (MTO scenario) system is throwing a error "No authorization for Costing Variant XXXX in Company
Code XXXX. understand that system will calculate Sale Order Costing in this scenario. So, user should have Costing Variant authorization in his user profile.
Basically SD related users doesn't have authorization for Product Costing Objects.
And Basis guy has maintained the authrn by costing variants object level not by the T- Codes level.
How can I allow SD Users to Costing Variant authorizations?
is this the correct way?

Because Client is not ready to give entire costing variant authorization.
I strongly hope that, it doesn't work any t.code autr without CV Authn related to PC Object :K_KEKO.
Is there any possibility to do this t code autrn.
