Authorization information

I keep getting this message when I try to Authorize my itunes.
"There was an error starting your Authorization information on this computer."
How can I fix this problem?
I have already tried to Deauthorize it and I still get the same message.

Me too. I have the same problem. It is very frustrating when you buy something on iTunes and aren't able to access what you own.

  • Error Storing Authorization Information?

Recently, I decided to make my usual log in account a non-administrative account. Now when I try and purchase music from the iTunes music store, I receive the below message about the "required file" not being found or having a permission error. I ran repair permission without effect. When I change my account back to administrator status, the error does not appear, so I assume that I need to change the read/write permissions for the file that stores the authorization information. Anyone know where this file is (hidden?) and how I can correct this error?
    Thanks

The required file was not found or has permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."

Authorization information is stored in the 'SC Info.sidb' file in the 'SC Info' folder (hidden) inside ./Users/Shared.
Your Shared folder might not have the correct permission.
This article mentions which permissions it should have:

    Hope this helps.

First I would just try deleting the SCInfo folder, restart your computer, open itunes and see if you are still getting the error, at that point if you are it is a permissions error with the computer specificaly and not in itunes.

that is for deleting the scinfo folder. scroll to the bottom of the article and the steps are there

  • Authorization information not retained in Windows Vista

    Hello,
Recently I purchased a new computer with Windows Vista on it.
I moved my music collection from my old machine to this new one.
I entered the authorization information when I was asked,
but when I restarted the computer the following day and tried to play
my songs, it requested I enter the authorization info again.
And it has been doing so ever since. It does not increase the number
of authorized machines, but it does not seem to retain the information
as it does on my other machines.

Click here and follow the instructions.

  • Issue with storing authorization information, trying to start Home Sharing

I am currently attempting to set 'Home Sharing' up on my iTunes so that I will be able to share music and videos between two computers in my household. Both computers are on the same network, my home network. When I attempt to start Home Sharing, the following phrase pops up after putting in my iTunes username and password:
"There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer." (followed by other writing)
If anyone can help me to correct this issue and to start my Home Sharing it would be greatly appreciated.

  • ITunes Error "There was an error storing your authorization information ...

I cannot play music downloaded from itunes. I have a dell computer with Windows XP Media with 4 users set up. One user has an itunes library that we downloaded music from itunes and got the following messages when trying to access the song.
    1. open itunes and click on purchased song
    2. the authorize computer pop-up window says this computer is not authorized to play "my doorbell", would you like to authorize it?
    3. I enter the name and password and click authorize.
    4. itunes tells me you have authorized 1 out of 5 machines.
    5. I click ok and another pop-up box tells me "There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer. The required file was not found or has permission errors. Correct the permission problem and try again or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."
I followed the suggestions from a 3/21/06 posting on this matter, to the best of my ability, to no avail.
I've uninstalled itunes, run my disk cleanup utility to remove all unnecessary files (hoping to remove any orphan files) and re-installed itunes which did nothing. the 3/21 posting said to delete the library itl file and imported the library xml file (again). I am not sure what that means so I did not take this step.
    Any help would be appreciated.-lpo

  • There was an error storing your authorization information...

With iTunes 5 I went to the music store and tried to double-click a song just to hear a preview (Black Eyed Peas, Let's Get it Started). I was asked to authorize my computer, it said I had authorized 4 of 5 correctly (I have only 2 machines using it, but whatever) and then I got this error:
"There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer.
The requested directory was not found or there was a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."
I'm on Windows, with admin access, so it's not a permissions problem. I checked the Apple Computer folder in my Documents and Settings\Application Data folder, and I have write permissions there. I deauthorized this computer, but it gave me the exact same error.
In the knowledge base there is a fix for Macs, but nothing listed for PCs. I had no problems using the store with iTunes 4.9, this is a new problem for me with 5.0. So, until there's a fix, no ITMS purchases for me!

I'm having this problem as well. I'm dissapointed it's so hard to find information on the subject.
One of the things I guessed might have bee a problem is that my music files are on a file server on the network but when I changed the iTunes music folder location back to my local drive, I still hade the problem.
Another non-standard setup I have is a recent HD change. I copied my partitions to a new drive via PQ Partition Magic. I've had no problems with any other app, but I can't help but wonder if iTunes stores some kind of invisible autorization information in a hidden section of the partition that it can no longer access.
In any case, a word from the fine folks at Apple would sure help. What do you guys have to say?

  • Tables that contains the legacy systems authorization information

    Hi all,
I'm setting up legacy systems in my SAP GRC 5.3. We would like to check if the information uploaded from the extractor is correct. Does anyone know what are the GRC 5.3 tables that contains all the systems authorization from the legacy system uploaded?
    Thank you in advanced.

    Hi,
If I understand your question correctly, you wish to know the GRC 5.3 RAR tables that contains the authorization information and want to connect a legacy system.
If you check the /VIRSA/* tables, you can find all the GRC related tables.
However, if you are trying to perform an offline risk analysis, refer the below Article:

    Hope this helps!!

  • 'Problems saing the authorization information on the computer'

Hello, I have a problem with the iTunes Store.
the thing is that when I try to download a song, search for purchases, give authorization to the computer, or anything related to the iTunes Store, the itunes keeps sending me the same message; "'Problemas saving the authorization information on the computer' Try reinstalling iTunes or repairing it".
And, after erasing it and instaling it 4 times, the same problem appears.
The problem is that I purchased 2 songs and I can't listen to them, although the iTunes tells me that all the purchases has been finished, and I lost the money.
Anybody knows what can I do?
    Thanks anyway for reading.
PS: Sorry if my english is to hard of understanding, I'm from Chile.

    Please try this:

It seems to do with deleting the Shared folder under the Users directory.

  • TS1277 I bought a new computer and itunes request me to authorize the new computer.  Howerver it is using an email address I have not had for over 4 years and will not accept my current authorization information.  How do I get it to accept my new computer

After purchasing a new computer I downloaded itunes and signed in to my account.  Everything was fine including my current email address.  When I connected my iPod and it started to cink, I go a message that the computer had to be authorized our my music would be removed.  When I clicked on the authorize button I got a sign in that had an email address I have not had in almost 3 years.  When I put my current logon and password in itunes would not accept it.  When I clicked help it offered to send help to my old email address which I have not way of accessing.  How do I get my computer to accept my iPod if I cannot enter the current logon and password information?

We are having this same issue.  We have over 200 songs that are now missing and only our most recent ones show up in our ITunes library.  Fortunately we have one phone that still has all of our music still in tact. This phone is no longer one I will be using as I upgraded to the Iphone 6, and only the most recent purchased songs remain.  The rest are no where to be found and the iTunes store shows that I would need to re-purchase.  Not sure what to do as when I tried to sync my last phone, all the songs were gone.

  • How do I recover the authorization information of an account I used years ago?

Way back when I first started using iTunes, the account I used to purchase music was routed through my parents and the information for it is (as far as I remember) a strange conglomerate of my info, my dad's info, and some of it is almost certainly fake. I no longer have the email address associated with it, nor do I remember the answers to the security questions - in fact, when I tried to reset the password, I discovered that the birthday associated with the account, whatever it is, isn't mine. I've tried guessing at the password based on what I remember of passwords I used to use, but I've had no luck; if it was written down somewhere, it's long gone. I thought that when I switched over to my new email I just updated the information, but there doesn't seem to be any record of the old email being associated with my account.
None of this would actually be a problem, except that my iTunes has (quite suddenly, as in the last day or two) decided that I'm not authorized to play the tracks I purchased with this account. Now I have almost five hundred and fifty songs that I can't listen to, and I would very much like to get them back. They still play on my iPod without any problems, but I'm not sure if I've synced it since this has happened, and now I'm almost afraid to sync it for fear of losing all of these songs off of my iPod too.
I realize that there might not actually be anything that I can do about this, seeing as I really don't have any tangible connection to the old account. But I'm sure I can't be the only person who's had this problem, and I really don't want to have to replace all of the music that I paid for just because I don't use the same email I did in middle school.

I looked there but there is no MAC address, per se, listed there. It shows an Wi-Fi address that is 12 characters long (six groups of 2 each).
I am new to Apple so do not know if that is what I am looking for. An IP address on a Windows PC, which is what I am use to, is 8 characters.
Also, this will not be setup as a phone, just more of a "mini-iPad", in case that makes any difference.
    Thanks.

  • There was an error storing your authorization information on this computer. The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed.

It prevents me to sync my iPhone, how can I fix that?

De-authorize - repair permissions with Disk Utility - reboot you Mac - authorize your Mac.
    See if that helps.

  • HT1420 Forgot authorization information answers, can not add iPad as a new. Device help!

Hi I can not remember the answers to my challenge questions to add my iPad. To I store....  Can not find how to reset them . Can someone help?

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address then see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551
