Authorization is messed up

Some of the songs that I have downloaded form iTunes store will not play because it says that I have 5 computers authorized already. This computer is already authorized and the song was downloaded on this computer, so it should be able to play this song. I have tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing this computer - no good. When I log in to my iTunes account, it says that I only have 4 computers authorized (including this one). This means that I cannot deauthorize all computers and start over. I have also tried deleting the /Users/Shared/SC Info folder and restarting. This didn't work either. Any other ideas?

Any chance that the problem tracks were purchased via a different iTunes Store account?
If not, you can contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Contact page and explain the problem to them. They may be able to reset your authorizations for you (it may take getting past some canned emails before you get "real" help, so hang in there).

  • Application sync between iphone and itunes

    Hi,
created an apple account. Downloaded my first free app. Tried to sync it with my iphone. Told me I needed to authorize the computer, which I did.
Now when I try to think my iphone app from itunes it tells me that the computer is not authorized and propose to authorize it. If I do so it tells me that the computer is already authorized. I removed the computer authorization and tried again from scratch with no success. It won't think my app with the iphone. I read the sync topic on apple support but that didn't help. Don't know what to do. If anyone has an idea I would be grateful.
I use itunes ver 9.0.2.25 and iphone ver 3.1.2 (on iphone 3G).

Ok, it appears that your authorizations are messed up between your computer & phone. Let's try starting over from the beginning.
Launch itunes, do not connect your phone, delete the app from your applications folder. Next, since your on windows, go up to Edit > Preferences > Syncing Tab> Reset Sync History. Next, under that same preferences tab, check "parental" & make sure there are no restrictions. Once done, reboot your computer. After the reboot, launch itunes, re-download that same app, pay attention to the popup that appears, it will have your apple ID & a blank spot for your password. Enter your password. Now, go to your phone, check Settings>Store, make sure you are signed in, if you are, you'll see your apple ID(email address) & a button labled "Sign Out". Make sure this ID matches the same ID you used to purchase the app. If you're not signed in, sign in. Then, reset your phone: Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the apple logo(ignor the slide to power off). Once complete, check again to make sure you're still signed in to your itunes account. Next check: Settings>General>Restrictions, make sure you see "off" next to restrictions.
Now, connect your phone with itunes running, make sure there is a check in the box next to the application you want on your phone. Hit apply & sync. See if this fixes the issue.

  • Authorization mess

    Hello,
I bought several apps for my mother's new iPod but now they don't open -- they start to launch then fail.  I believe it's an authorization issue and I'm trying, remotely via FaceTime, to walk her through authorizing those apps to run on her machine.  I thought I had done that when I was home last month but the problem persists.  I've tried having her sign into her iPod under both my Apple account AND hers -- bizarrely, the apps don't open under either account.
For starters, where do I even FIND what computers / accounts / devices / apps are authorized to run on each other?  Where does this authorization "live"?
Also, iTunes refuses to just sync the damned iPod apps to the machine; it will only threaten to nuke everything on the iPod with the (empty) collection of apps on her machine.  How can we do the reverse?
    Many, many thanks,
    Sean

    Hi,
If the tacacs server fails to respond, then local network authorization will be performed.
Assuming this command: aaa authorization network test tacacs local.
Keep in mind that only a limited set of functions can be controlled via the local database.

I have an older version of Adobe Digital Editions (around 3 years old) and was very happy with it.
Then I had problems with my Kobo Reader and asked a friend who works in IT to assist. She could not fix the Kobo but she messed up my Addobe. She downloaded version three and I have an account and a password - was not able to transfer my books from my reader to version three (and I don't like the lay-out - I would prefer to stay with the old version as I also loose all my download date info..)
But all the books I have bought over the last three years are in the old Adobe Digital and I cannot access them any more. When I use it I get the message "that the document is licensed to a different account. I can't even open the books on my computer.
When I go to my Kobo library, I cannot also not open my books and get the message "this doc is protected by adobe digital rights management and is not currently authorized for use with your adobe. please sign in with your authorized adobe id and try again"
I believe the problem is that I do not seem to have a digital id for my old adobe or that the Kobo is not in sync with it anymore.
can you please help me - going on vacation in three days and cannot go without books.

Please authorize ADE 3 with same credentials that you used with older version of ADE

  • Is it possible to manage multiple apple ID's from 1 e-mail account? I don't want users of an ihone to mess about with the apple store

I am the telecom manager of a  small company and I want to manage the iPhones in the company myself ( 7 pieces ) so that a user can not mess about with the phohe and the app store. I already found out how to block some of the functionality of the phone. I don't want to setup appleID's per users e-mail address because the confirmation of the apple ID will always be sent to the users of the phone.
    Is this possible?
    Johan

Nope. You can only have one credit card attached to an account at a time. Its not that big of a deal to use two accounts, users do this all the time. Create the second account(UK Account) in iTunes on your computer...sign out of your Italian account first. Then authorize your computer for this new account: Store>Authorize this computer. Then sync your phone. Now, to switch accounts on your phone: Settings>Store...tap the ID shown...sign out...then sign back in with the ID you want to use.

  • Help with importing library and how to authorize music to play

Recently I had to reformat my hard drive. As a result I am trying to transfer my itunes library back to the computer from the backup device. There doesn't seem to be a simple way to do this. I found an article online that suggested I could import the full library in one shot by putting it on the desktop and selecting it. This didn't work. So,
    1. what is the fastest and most efficient way to tranfer back my songs
    2. I find that some of the songs I have transferred already are "protected." So, I am getting a prompt to authorize the computer so the music will play. I have already authorized this computer again so when I do go through the motions w/the pop up box it tells me I have already done this. However, it will still not play the songs. So, how do I make it stop that mess and play my songs? I really don't think I should have to repurchase them.
    Thanks

  • Keeps Asking For Authorization...

Here's the gist of the problem: I bought a song, but iTunes keeps asking me to authorize my computer and then it says it's already been authorized. It won't let me play the song.
    Behind the problem:
I suppose I did a stupid thing. I started downloading the iTunes update, and then went and bought a song. The song downloaded and showed up in my library, where I could see the album as it was finishing up the download. Then the iTunes update finished, and the computer was restarted. When iTunes opened back up, the song I just bought was gone. I searched my computer and found the file, then added it to iTunes. Now when I try to play it, it has my re-enter my password, then it says the computer is already authorized. I can't play it! I can hear the song in Quicktime, but not in iTunes.
The song also is missing all its information (album name, song name, artist, etc.) but it was inside a folder that had the same name as the song. I tried right clicking on the song and selecting "Get Track Names" to see what would happen, and it says: iTunes cannot get CD track names for songs that were not imported using iTunes. To allow iTunes to look for CD track names for this song, import the song again using iTunes."
Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks so much in advance!

I also just played the song all the way through on Quicktime and it's messed up in the end, about 3 minutes in. It sounds like a song on a CD that's scratched.

  • !!! Statements of Logic Deleting Files and messing with System are True !!!

This morning I answered some guys post about Logic deleting everything in the same level as the project folder under certain circumstances. I Tried trouble shooting for him but could not recreate it.
Then this happened to me today:
When working in Logic 8 in Leopard all of a sudden it stopped communicating with my Unitor8 via USB. I restarted but the Unitor 8 Which I reset twice would NOT communicate with L8 anymore. It would remain in patch mode (red light lit though CPU is running)
I've had this erratic behavior many times since the past years on many computers so it wasn't really new. All one needs to do is reinstall the Unitor Family driver.
So I decided to do so:
I inserted my Logic Studio DVD and opened the installer and checked ONLY the Unitor family Drivers. After completed install I restarted the Mac. Everything went fine. So I booted L8. While booting I saw my hardrives on the right side of the desktop flash once. I thought that to be strange and took closer look.
Now my boot drive was missing from all the drives on the desktop and in the sidebar window...
I tried to Apple+Click on a Application in the dock. The finder opened the applications folder and showed me the app I had clicked on. But I could not navigate to the root of my System Drive even via the "path" sysmbol in the toolbar. So I hit shiftappleg and entered /Volumes/MySystemVolume - it showed my volume "Grayed Out" in the finder window...
I tried repairing the disk and permissions but nothing was wrong with my boot drive apparently besides the fact that the finder (and all other applications when wanting to open or save) could not "see" my system drive... I could launch all the apps normally that were residing on the SystemDrive in the AppFolder... So this kept getting weirder...
So I opened my favorite application Tinkertool System and went to the Tab Files and chose the underlying tab "Attributes" which shows me Macintosh HFS and Finder Attributes... I pulled my SystemDrive onto the Drop Area and discovered something VERY amazing: The Display in Finder option had mysteriously been altered to "INVISIBLE"
I changed it to Visible and there it was - My System Drive... Showing up in the finder...
I made a restart to make sure everything was OK....
After the restart the following settings had VANISHED:
    1) Pixadex = ALL ICONS (I had 230 MB) of sorted icons stored in my Application Support Folder
    2) All my Safari Book marks were gone - They were still in ~/Library/Safari - but the Bookmarks.plist was UNREADABLE even with a text editor and XML editor
    3) Numerous other applications had LOST their authorization preferences so I had to re-authorize many of my Audio Unit plug-ins...
    4) My Dock had been reset
    5) My Monitor arrangement had been reset...
    6) My date and time had been reset
    7) My energy settings had been reset.... (I had NOT zapped the P-RAM)
Since installing Leopard 2 weeks ago - I have CAREFULLY monitored ANY activity after INSTALLING anything in order to be able to troubleshoot - and this problem definitely occurred right after installing the USB Family Drivers and launching L8....
There was really NO HARM done other than the sweating that I did troubleshooting but if L8 is capable of doing what happened to this other guy loosing his whole folder and now doing this to me - where are the limits? When is someone going to get REAL hurt.
Please Apple - I am sending you this post as a BUG report as well - could you PLEASE look into this as there has to be some kind of VERY dangerous MALFUNCTION within Logic or its Installers.

Wow, I was just joking with the medication thing. I didn't actually think it was seriously a mental health issue. Sorry.
In any case, though, if he has full access to the Mac, mental health issues or no, there's not a whole lot to do about it. If it is possible to take away administrative privileges without causing a huge fuss, then you can limit his access to certain things. However, you can't mess with privileges on a Time Machine backup (doing so breaks it), and that means he's going to have access to at least parts of the backup. Which means he can trash at least some of the backup data, and if he deletes files from the TM backup using the Finder, he'll have essentially trashed the whole backup. He might as well have the ability to delete all the files on the machine if he has the power to delete backups.
Honestly, in this situation, he should either only be allowed to use an account with Parental Controls on, which may not be an option (I don't know how offended he would be at such a suggestion), or he should be using a different computer entirely and have no access at all to his wife's computer. Alternately, have his wife keep a backup that is hidden - ie, connect the backup drive periodically and then remove it and hide it so he can't mess with it. That will at least secure the backup.

  • Authorize computer without Internet Connection

Hi all - at work we have all these server security and proxy issues. I have decided to bring my iPod to listen while I work (insert 7 Dwarves whistling) but I keep getting the message that "this computer is not authorized to play 'song name'" fro iTunes.
How do I authorize my computer without a successful internet connection? I CAN get on the web - so is there another way.
    Jon

My knowledge about setting proxies is very limited (about 0), so I'm afraid I can't be much of a help on that.
I know you can set them on a Mac in System Preferences>Network
Then select 'Built-in Ethernet' and click on the 'Configure' button.
Next, select the 'Proxies' tab and you can enter your proxies.
Clicking the 'Assist me...' button will launch the Network Setup Assistant.
I suppose you have to set the HTTP and HTTPS proxies, because iTunes behaves just like any other browser.
That's all I know. I didn't experiment any step further, because my Internet connection functions flawless and I don't want to mess up (by lack of knowledge).
I would recommend posting a question in the 'Mac OS X Tiger' or 'Panther' Category and then choosing the 'Getting online' Forum.
    Hope this helps.

  • My computer wants me to authorize even though it's authorized; can't play my music

I'm using a mac mini with Lion 7.1.  Suddenly, tunes I've been playing for years won't play.  They say to authorize my computer, I authorize it and they still won't play.  It's not all songs, just some I bought years ago.  Songs before and after play fine.
    HELP.

And now, the Apple Support person who said he was going to call me, didn't.  He won't return my emails.  I'm out a couple of hundred dollars of purchased music I was able to play until recently.
I've authorized, unauthorized … sent in every computer serial number I used to purchase music and the music gets stuck in a loop that asks me to authorize something that's already authorized.  This is obviously an Apple CRM nightmare that iTunes simply refuses to fix.
I also have hours of my valuable time gone dealing with Apple's mess.  I really need help and Apple is turning a blind eye.
Why would I ever buy any music from iTunes again?  I've never had this issue with Amazon or CD Baby.
Can someone help me, or will I just get ignored.

  • ITunes keeps requiring authorization

    I use 3 machines:
    - Powerbook G4
    - Powermac G5
    - iMac G5 (recently underwent apple certified repair)
Currently, I physically have 2 machines authorized that will play my music. 3 machines should be authorized.. but the iTunes music store says 4 are authorized.
    So.. here's the overall deal..
Yes, I probably lost 1 authorization as a result of the repair facility doing an archive and install (without notifying me), but iTunes has still been asking for authorization in strange ways.
For instance, the iMac G5 is asking for authorization again.. it has not been reinstalled since that time.
My Powermac at home has also pulled up the authorization dialogue without apparent reason (it has never been reinstalled).
So here I sit with 2 computers authorized.. 1 that needs to be authorized, and 4 that apple thinks are authorized.
If I authorize the computer I'm sitting on right now, I could semi-permanently lose my ability to listen to music on a machine if another one starts asking for authorization.. and I don't have the option to reset my authorizations.
So.. what am I to do? I'm seriously considering stopping using the iTMS because of this issue.. I've spent well over $300 on music there.. but if glitches like this are going to force me to stop listening to my own purchased music.. then I don't want to invest any more money into it.

    let me explain.
I bought the song and put it in an iphoto slideshow and made a Quicktime version too.
    One computer.
Iphoto won't play the song because it requires authorization from itunes.
I authorize it (again, and again) at itunes. It says I am authorized just fine.
Back to iphoto: Same error message. over and over.
    Then add:
even Quicktime wouldn't let me play the already recorded slideshow movie. It said I could only use itunes tunes in isoftware?
Now Quicktime has become hijacked-- demolished, actually--- and replaced by nothing but menus saying purchase the new Quicktime. Who did this?
In another forum someone said 'all' I have to do is buy the newest versions of Quicktime and iTunes. That's all.
Money-grubbing robbers. How dare they come onto my computer and mess things up so I have to buy new software? I can't afford it. So now what?
    Natasha

  • ITunes/Multiple Apple ID mess

For years, we've had one user profile on our various Mac Mini's. My wife and kids have used iTunes in this one user profile to purchase and download music in iTunes - four different Apple ID's.
Now we're getting some message that you can only authorize one machine per Apple ID every 90 days.
Is there any way to unravel this mess? What I'd like to do is create individual user profiles for each person and have them download past purchases to their own user profile.
However, everyone is whining that they won't have access to all the music they do currently. They "share" their music downloads.
Any thoughts? Will that solve the one machine every 90 days issue?

Hmm... sounds like I should undo the email switchroo and revert back to my american appleID as my primary appleID account and then change the country for that account through official itunes/appleID processes.
then I'll have two canadian apple IDs.  And unfortunately, I just put money into my original canadian apple ID that i'll no longer be using.. =(
This raises a few related questions:
    1) Is there a way to move money between accounts?  I assume i could ways just "gift" apps from one account to be owned by the other.  Anything cleaner?
    2) How tied is Siri to my iCloud account? I have a lot of siri issues since upgrading to 6.1.  it can't find apps when I try to launch them, even default apps like clock or calendar.   If siri is not tied to icloud at all, then maybe it's not as critical to have access to my icloud account.  I don't use it for anything except the todo/reminders app.
    Thanks,

  • "No Authorization" message

I work for a school district.  In using a free app, I got a "No Authorization" message and tried everything without success. Ex: downloading a new app, etc.
I finally tried "Reset all Settings" and the "No Authorization" Issue was solved.
So I passed this on to the teachers using the same free app.
But in a few cases, resetting all settings caused them to lose the school district's wi-fi (i.e., erased the district's wireless security code?).
I was okay - it didn't happen with me.
QUESTION:  Is there a way to reset without effecting the district's wireless security code?  THANKS!

There's actually no problem with the VPETouch app.  This has been well-tested since VPETouch is our product.
The problem seems to be related to an Apple ID authorization issue.  According to Apple:  "If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information."
We have tried this - which works for about 75% of cases.  But for the most dramatic cases had to use Reset.
This allows the VPETouch app to work fine in a wi-fi environment other than the school (i.e., Starbucks, at home, Panera Bread, etc.) - but messes up the PE teacher's ability to get back on to school district's wifi network.
So I was wondering if someone knows a solution to this.  In other words, is there a way to reset the IPodTouch without erasing the stored data for a school district's wifi?  Maybe not!

  • Profit Center authorization - New GL

My client is using the new GL for Profit Center reporting and the Profit Center Accounting module is inactive. There is a requirement to restrict profit center manager's reporting access - summary reports (GR55) and line items - to their own profit centers.
I have tried using the profit center accounting authorization objects - K_PCA and K_PCAR_REP - but neither one seems to restrict the profit center centers reported.
Can anyone advise me on the correct authorization objects for Profit Center reporting in the New GL?

    Hi
Report writer / painter is a mess from an authorisation perspective.
From previous experience OSS note 107394 should fix this particular problem for New G/L reporting.  If you still have problems work through the notes available when searching OSS for "GR55 AND Authorizations"
