Authorization is required? But already authorized.

I am trying to play a 1080p tv show that I purchased on my account on a new AppleTV but I keep getting the "Authorization is required." screen. I have authorized the Mac where the file is housed and that Mac will play other purchased files but not these.
I can play the show in my TV Shows>Purchased area of my AppleTV but my crappy internet connection at home is not 1080P friendly, it even has to rebuffer multiple times during an hour long 720P streaming of this same show.
Now for some specifics on this situation. I downloaded the season at my work 20 Mbps sync connection so it didn't take long at all to download the 22 1080 files. I copied them to a flash and brought them home to put onto my iTunes server (PowerMac G5) but they do not seem to want to play nice when streaming to either of my AppleTVs (2nd and 3rd generations). Could it be because my PowerMac G5 cannot play the file? I have tried deleting the SC Info folder but that didn't seem to help. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone??

  • Syncing issues / asks to authorize but already authorized / two itunes accts?!

Hello...  I've had an iTunes acct forever now and I'm having an issue syncing my iPad2.  I get to a point where it tells me to authorize my pc when I try to it says pc already authorized and so on and so on.  It seems I may have two accts...  they are both the same name but one has @aol.com and the other doesn't.  Is there a way to merge these two accts so I don't loose 17 apps and 393 songs?  LOL  Thx for taking your time reading this.

I had the same problem, the only way to fix it is to oddly enough de-authorize your computer and reauthorize it and you'll have the correct number of authorized computer again.
I do not know why iTunes does this maybe someone else can explain why?

  • I have moved my itunes library to a new PC.  All but approximately 100-150 songs will synch to my ipod.  It says "not authorized" but when I authorize it, it says "already authorized"?  I thought possibly they were DRM files, but I can't tell?

Any ideas how to get all my songs synched on the ipod?  They are in my itunes library on the new PC.

    Hi kellmack,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend the steps in this article if iTunes prompts you to authorize your PC to play some purchases after you've already authorized it:

  • My computer is asking me to authorize a song, but is authorized

My computer is asking me to authorize a song, but when I authorize is says it is already authorized, but yet the file does not play.  How do I fix this?

    Hi,
It is possible that the song have been purchased using another account.  Performing a get info on the song will allow you to see in the summary from which account it has been bought.  Make sure you authorize the related account too in order to play the song.

  • 2 Issues: asked to authorize computer that is already authorized.  Library and playlist on itunes is gone.  Is there a way to move items from my ipod onto itunes?

When I want to add an application itunes continually has me sign in, it then tells me this computer is already authorized, then the process starts all over again and no applications get transferred due to this.
I recently deleted files to free space on my laptop.  Turns out I must have deleted what itunes was linked to.  Is there a way to get my playlist from my ipod onto itunes or do I need to find all those CDs again and upload them?

    - You can transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For non-iTunes purchased music you need a third-party progam like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
On the iPOo and the computer are those signed into the iTunes accunt that purchased the apps?
One computer go to iTues>Store sign out of existing account and sign into the one you want.  For the iPod go to Settings>Store

  • Error message saying computer isn't authorized, but already authorized?

    Help!
I just got a new computer (windows 7), and it's saying that I can't download a bunch of videos & music that I purchased through iTunes because I'm not authorized on this computer. Then I go to authorize it, and it says "you are authorized on this computer and up to 5 others", but it still won't download what I purchased on the iTunes store! The "support" page is NO help at all, and I can't figure out how to get help from anyone.
I also cannot disconnect my iPod now because it says it contains files that are being used by another application, but it's not!
So now I can't get what I purchased onto my iPod, and I can't disconnect it from my computer. Please help? Thank you!

Check the fair play version of the songs that won't play. I am having the same issue with songs protected with fair play version 2, since upgrading to Windows 7.
I hope you are not having the same issue though, as there does not seem to be a solution. I was working with Apple Customer Support on this issue but they have not answered my emails for 5 days now. I think they are stuck.
Meanwhile, I'm not purchasing any more songs from iTunes.

  • Message:" At least system 10.3 required" But already running OSX 5.5!

Im trying to install the Syncrosoft Licence Control to get a serial number so I can activate my Cubase AI 4 software from the internet but keep getting the following message:
    "ATTENTION!
The Syncrosoft License Control cannot be installed on this computer, because the installed operating system version is too old. At least system version Mac OS X 10.3 ('Panther') is required!"
I already have Mac OS X 10.5.5 installed and running on my G5 ! Please someone help !

This has absolutely nothing to do with iSync - which is for syncing Contacts and Calendars to mobile phones and PDAs.
Clearly there is an error in the installer, so you would need to go to the developer of the software for help.

  • My computer wants me to authorize even though it's authorized; can't play my music

I'm using a mac mini with Lion 7.1.  Suddenly, tunes I've been playing for years won't play.  They say to authorize my computer, I authorize it and they still won't play.  It's not all songs, just some I bought years ago.  Songs before and after play fine.
    HELP.

And now, the Apple Support person who said he was going to call me, didn't.  He won't return my emails.  I'm out a couple of hundred dollars of purchased music I was able to play until recently.
I've authorized, unauthorized … sent in every computer serial number I used to purchase music and the music gets stuck in a loop that asks me to authorize something that's already authorized.  This is obviously an Apple CRM nightmare that iTunes simply refuses to fix.
I also have hours of my valuable time gone dealing with Apple's mess.  I really need help and Apple is turning a blind eye.
Why would I ever buy any music from iTunes again?  I've never had this issue with Amazon or CD Baby.
Can someone help me, or will I just get ignored.

  • ITunes is telling me my computer is no longer able play purchased items on my ipod unless i authorize my computer. But it's already authorized.

And when i DO try and authorize it, it's fine but then the error message comes up again. It seems fine, i already synced it once and the music was still there, but i can't apply any new podcasts to it this way since it won't complete the synching process? I think? I don't really know it's just very annoying. Why, if i'm already authorized, is it saying i'm NOT??

Sorry, I don't have a response. I just wanted to say that I have the exact same problem. It started about a week ago and a number of songs that I've purchased have been deleted from my ipod when I sync.
    It's very frustrating.

Delete and redownload it if doing so is free in your country.

    Hello there, HelpMePlease117.
There is a good Knowledge Base article that helps resolve authorization issues you might want to look over:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
Any one of the steps listed there should help you get to the bottom of your issue and resolve it for you.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • When I try to sync to my ipad, tons of my music doesn't download.  The error message tells me that my ipad is not authorized, but when I try to authorize it, it tells me it's already authorized.... what now?

I want to sync music to my ipad, but it tells me it can't because ipad is not authorized.  when I go to authorize it, it tells me it's already authorized.  I'm confused.

You use the iTunes app, but you authorize a computer to use items acquired from Apple with a specific iTunes account. Then any iOS devices that sync to that computer are also automatically authorized to use the items acquired from Apple when they are synced to the device.
If you are mixing stuff from various usuers individual iTunes accounts it can get a bit confusing. For example if you have apps from thre different users accounts, the apps can only be updated if that user signs into their iTunes account either on the specfic computer or the individual iOS devices.

Are the songs authorised to the same account?
Often people change their e-mail address over time, and also decide to set up new iTunes account names using that e-mail.  You can (and should) continue to use an old e-mail address as your account name.  Then you don't run into the issue of having different songs authorised to different accounts.
To check the authorised account for the song, click "Get info" on the song name in iTunes.  It will show the account name in the Summary panel.
If you have set up multiple accounts, log into each one, and burn the songs to CD as audio tracks (i.e. like a normal CD, not a data CD).  You can then re-import the files into iTunes without the authorisation embedded into the song.
