Authorization is screwed up

I have iTunes 11.1.4 on OSX 10.7.5 displayed on an iMac. I have some apps I want to transfer from my iMac to my iPad. When I start the sync process and it gets to step 3, I get a message stating "The iPad could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorized for purchased items that are on this iPad." It then follows up with "To authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store, choose Store > Authorize This Computer...
I follow the instructions using my Apple ID (which I know works because I login to other stuff without and issues) and once entered and I've clicked "OK" I get another popup stating "This computer is already authorised. Including this one, you have authorised one computer out of your available 5."
"Huh" it says this computer is already authorised?, so I try again to sync and guess what? I get the first message again stating this computer is not authorised! What the ****.
Please tell me this is an easy fix.

iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases. If you are in the US you can freely redownload a purchase, so if the link isn't helpful, then try deleting the apps in question and then try redownloading them.

1 project just wont open!!

i posted something earlier today about a message coming up saying core audio not available. i have since solved that problem. it turned out to be N.I's massive somehow craping out. it got to the point where after a few plays of a looped region, massive would end up crashing logic. i isolated it down to massive and have now uninstalled massive and re installed.
the problem now is that the project i was having the problem with will not open at all. all other projects open fine.
i have reinstalled massive... nothing
removed p lists and repaired disk permissions...nothing
i have tried to open from recent items. from open and from the project folder on my external drive.
if i right click on the logic icon in the dock it says project not responding.
any ideas would be much appreciated

a couple of things.
Did you look in the Audio Units Manager. Is Massive "successfully validated" I have 1.1.4 as the latest?
Did you create a new project with just Massive and recorded something with it, then save the project and close Logic 9, then open the project? This is to test Massive within Logic 9. If this works, it could be something else in that project.
Did you test Massive standalone. Just making sure it works with your current OS/patches.
This is also to test in case your authorization got screwed up.
I'm planning a massive (no pun intended) test from my iMac (Logic 8.0.2) to my Macbook Pro (Logic 9) all this week. I haven't gotten to Massive yet, I can try that first.

Transferring my iTunes library to new computer

My old laptop has given up the ghost, so have transferred my iTunes library to my my computer. However - although this new computer is authorised - when I try to do anything in iTunes, all the options, (Library, Ringtones, Apps etc.) are greyed out and I'm not able to make any changes or updates, but for some strange reason syncing to my iPhone still works.
Anyone got any ideas. All help is much appreciated.

Sounds like your authorization is screwed up. Try this:
1. Open My Computer from the Desktop or Start menu.
2. From the Tools menu, choose Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders," make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
5. Click OK.
6. Navigate to the following location by either typing it into the address bar, copying and pasting it into the address bar, or clicking through the folder hierarchy listed:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\
7. Right-click the SC Info folder shown and choose Delete from the shortcut menu.
8. Restart the computer.

Not able to decide on : Mission Configurable Authorization

I post here after begging people to
please understand my problem first.this is what I need to achieve:
It is about dynamic authorization.
My application will have an admin page where the admin will be able to give access rights to users for certain actions on certain pages. these could be any permutation and combination.
I need to be able to authorize them based on this condition.
For example :
If it were a mechanic application.
The admin will be able to authorize MechA to be able to perform "Add, Delete" actions on garage A, but only VIEW rights on garage B.
similarly MechB to be able to only "ADD" in garage A, but ADD,DELETE in garageB.Again, the number of garages can be many. the admin will be able to add a garage and delete a garage.
(ofcourse, based on the current access rights they have, the JSP will display those current access rights)
I have poured over google search and forums and security frameworks to decide on an approach for this.
I initially had thought that I will have a table which will have two cols USER and PERMISSIONS.
where users would be the suers and permissions would be URLs. Ex. :
mechA | garageA/add.jsp
mechA | garageA/delete.jsp
mechA | garageb/view.jsp
However, this premature understanding will not work because of obvious reasons (if I need to update or delete the URL for the user.. I am screwing up everything).
Then, now I am thinking of an XML based authorization now. where the parent node will be the user name and his child nodes will be the URLs he has access to. Though i have not worked on this, I know this will be of no use, because my application will have the capability to switch between a db and LDAP. I have very little knowledge of LDAP though.
No secuirty framework is going to be of help ( i have looked extensively through JAAS and Acegi).
because they function majorly on ROLES. In my case I have no ROLES at all :-(
I have been pulling my hair out trying for a solution for this kind of a configurable scenario, where the user base could be on a DB and on LDAP.
Any ideas/help/pointers towards an approach would be highly appreciated.

If you don't have roles now, rethink your design.
What if another mechanic comes in as a replacement
for an existing mechanic who left or goes on holiday?

add the new roles.Well, there will also be Groups, to which the mechanics can be assigned, but it is not a necessity for them to be under a group.
A mechanic can be an individual with individual rights, or can be a part of a group which has certain permissions. In my case, everything needs to be highly configurable. Creating a single user(with specific permissions) or creating the group(with specific permissions) and then assigning mechanics to the group, will really be the admins choice, who will set the users up.

defines his own special role (the role is the same as
the mechanic) and still use those frameworks.hmmm... I have typically assigned URLS with wildcard chars. like /admin/*.* with ROLE_ADMIN thing.
In this case,I will probably have to have many relative URLS mapped with a singular ROLE. However, how I can change/update these URLs based on the admins input, still remains a mystery to me.

Songs won't authorize, but only when iPod is plugged in

I have no problem playing purchased music on my computer (Windows XP, latest iTunes software), but when I plug in my iPod, I get a “This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPod” message with a “Would you like to authorize this computer?” When I say yes and enter my password, it says that “This computer is already authorized” but then promptly repeats the “This computer is no longer authorized…” message – basically, it’s caught in a loop. My iPod will not update, not even for playlists or music from CDs.
I have not changed my user account, I don’t plug in my iPod to any other computers, and I went ahead and uninstalled/rebooted/reinstalled iTunes several times, as well as tried the removed of the SC Info folder, deauthorized/reauthorized my computer (also many times).
Note that the loop only occurs when my iPod is trying to sync: it fails to sync because of the loop, but purchased music plays just fine on my PC (assuming that the iPod isn’t trying to sync).
Any suggestions/solutions?

Thanks - that didn't solve it but pointed me in the right direction. Turns out way back in the day when Windows was reinstalled on my PC, the drive letters were all screwed up...so my iPod kept showing up as the C: drive. Once I changed that manually, everything worked just fine.

Authorize use of music on new computer

Hello, I'm new to this forum.
I'm not sure if I'm using the correct verbiage of "Authorize" it to use it.
I have been using iTunes 6 (I believe that was the version) on an old Compaq computer with Windows XP. The computer crashed and after changing hard drives, I now have a new computer, again running Windows XP.
I was able to slave my old drive but have had very poor luck getting my data, songs and such, copied over to my new hard drive. I should say that I've completed the transfer but it's just taken many hours of screwing around to do so. I've had to recover my new computer a couple time when I unhook my slave drive. I now have all my 29 gig of music on my new computer and have downloaded and installed iTunes 7.0.2 on my new computer.
When I started up iTunes the first time it looked for all my music and imported it from my hard drive, or whatever it does to show it up in the library. It all shows up in the library but only a small portion of it is available to me. When I double click a song to play it it says I'm not authorized to use it. These are all CD's I own and have copied to my computer. I've been using these for my iPod for about a year. I have 40 gig monochrome music only, I think it's a third generation. My iPod is still working fine with about 5,700 song loaded. I really don't want to have to import all these CD's.
How do I set my new computer to use the music I own and have located on my new hard drive?

I'm presuming you still have the old iTunes folder intact on your old (slave) hard drive? If so, you haven't imported anything new since that folder was in use, and you have iTunes 7 installed and running, try this:
Locate the iTunes folder in your My Documents -> My Music folder on your primary (new) hard drive and delete it.
Drag the entire iTunes folder (containing the iTunes Library and iTunes.xml files and the iTunes Music folder) from your old drive to the My Documents -> My Music folder on your main drive.
Hold down the Shift key and launch iTunes. When you get the dialog box that says "Choose iTunes Library", navigate to the iTunes folder in My Documents -> My Music and select it.
With luck, you'll be back in business.

BTW, the fact that you say you keep having to recover your computer when you disconnect the slave drive might indicate that you have things misset when you're connecting the old drive. Make sure that the jumpers are correctly set, and of course that you're not disconnecting the slave with the power on.

Repeated requests for authorization after migration to 10.6

Recently migrated from my old eMac to a new Mini running OS10.6.
Itunes repeatedly asks for authorization on certain songs - those bought with an old AOL ID back in the day. I enter the ID and PW, then itunes tells me this ID has been changed to an Apple ID. I enter the Apple ID and PW and itunes tells me the computer is authorized. But the old songs still wont play - just repeats the problem over and over again.
I've deauthorized all the IDs' and reauthorized - no luck.
I've deleted the SC folder and reauthorized - no luck.

I did contact support and got the same advice. However - I found the answer!
When I would attempt to authorize by using my old AOL ID i would get an answer telling me that Apple had created an Apple ID for this old account and asking me to log in using this converted Apple ID account. I would do so, but would leave off the "@aol" ending in the Apple ID field (thinking that it wasn't neccessary since I wasn't logging into AOL). Turns out this is the key - the ID needs to have the complete ending.
Once I authorized using an Apple ID of "[email protected]" with the correct password everything worked.
Whew! Three days of screwing around on that one.

HT1848 Authorize computer with old apple id

How do I authorize my computer to play songs *purchased on itunes* with an old apple id. That email account was compromised so I had to create a new one and I no longer remember the password. Now, over 100 songs and books are not authorized even though I have deauthorized and re-authorized the computer with my new apple id (because I no longer remember nor have access to the old password - if it's even possible to sign into itunes with it still).
I purchased songs under old apple id for years. Since that email account was compromised and i created a new apple id for my itunes about a year ago. I had no problems synching back and forth on any old devices until I spilled water on my macbook last month and had to purchase a new one. I went and spent all that money on yet another apple product only to not be able to download ANY of my old mp3 files to my new laptop. Sigh. So I had to copy from backup drive. NOW I can't synch 100 of my old songs/books between new devices - even though others synched with no problem. It keeps telling me that the computer isn't authorized to play them.
How can I work around this? Can I change the file type so that it does not need to be "authorized" by apple's ridiculous copyright rules in the first place? It doesn't seem fair that $100+ in songs and books are completely useless to me even though I paid for them, purchased them through itunes and did everything I was supposed to do with apple products the way apple suggested (including changing my apple id). Spent 2 hours on the phone with Applecare - no help. I'm so totally frustrated by all of apple's inconveniences.

Yes, I do think they are ridiculous when it comes at the cost of my rights as a consumer. I'm not trying to illegally authorize 10,000 songs. I'm trying to authorize 100 songs and books that were synching fine until I purchased a new mac a month ago.
It should not be so difficult for Apple to verify that I am not a thief tyring to steal music - that I am who I say I am and did infact purchase this songs and books with the credit card information and address that I say I used. But for some reason after 2 weekends and literally hours on the phone with Apple - I get no help, no resolution. For goodness sake, I ONLY want to snyc these files to my iphone!!!! In the end, I'm the one who gets screwed. itunes gets my $100+ dollars, the artists get there royalties and I get nothing.

Can't authorize computer to access my purchases

My computer got a virus, actually several and I had to run the recovery disc, so lost all of the music on my computer. Before I ran the recovery I managed to get my computer to stay on long enough to move all of my iTunes purchases (82 albums) to my iPod mini (it wouldn't have stayed on long enough for me to burn discs). Now for some reason when I try to authorize my computer to access those purchases it's saying that my account does not exist. I even tried the Forgot My Password, but it says that "The Apple ID specified does not exist." Why? I spent so much money on that music and I really don't want to lose it. Is there anything I can do, or am I screwed?
It may help to know that the email address I used was an old school email address and I transferred to another college and no longer have access to that email account. I have the best luck ever.

I update foxfire and it screws up my e-mail. How can I prevent this without having to pay the computer guy?

Everytime I try to update my firefox it screws up my compuserve e-mail then I have to pay the computer guy to come to the house and get everything working again. Are there step to step instructions for a novice at the computer to prevent this from happening every time I'm asked to update firefox?

How can I get Verizon to return my memory card- There screw up

After screaming about 1x a week with this new pre-paid SAMSUNG phone, I finally was able to get the store to take the phone and replace it. Sadly, I was so frustrated with Verizon for my phone never working, and getting the run around, that I was glad to get the "we will get you a new one".
Wasn't happy that they can't just give me a new one off the wall. (that would be 50 bucks please. (phone was 30 days old).
SO, The guy behind the counter advised me, I would get a new one. Took battery, I asked if things were backed up, and he said "yes", the backup synch was set up. "like OK".
So, removed battery and the lid, and the case I bought for it, took my old phone and said wait for new one. (came in today).
I didn't even think of getting my 8GB memory card from the old phone at the time I left the store.
This was 3 days ago (26th of Dec). Today, my new phone came in, it was not synching, not doing the backup right, and then I realized my memory card was not there.
Nicely called the help desk thinking I was calling the store where i returned the phone. NOPE, got tech support in a different state after 14 minutes of listening to switch witch and running around with button pushing. Just to be told "contact the store diectly".
Headed to store, advised of what happened, and the cheerful guy with hte IPAD, typing your name, pretty much said " to bad". It's goneft
No help. Just me trying to stay calm, after the head-aches with this phone. And now I am out an 8GB memory card, that Verizon, in their haste, never took time to remove (but did the battery), and I forgot to remove it myself.
Now, I want Verizon to replace the memory card. Their phone was bad, every week complained about this phone, and in 30 days, I now had to get it replaced.
I take error in not remembering to get it. BUT, figured the techs behind the scenes would have thought of this.
Anyone know of whom I can contact to ask VZN for a new card? I lost some vital pics and info from my realtor, and have to bite that, but this wouldn't have happened, if I could have gotten some satisfactory service, and I still ended up 3 days without a phone.

I admit, I did screw up for not checking. I was just soo steamed with the customer support and going back and forth with phone and offices in Charleston, SC and here in VA, I was just getting frustrated with this phone that i had for 1 week, and couple with the craziness of the hustle trafflc of customers during the holidays.
Just a lot of crazy here, but my new phone is in, I had to get the service center to reset things, as the backup synch wasn't right, and I will get a new card.
I just wanted a new phone that worked, and oversaw the issues. This isn't the first time I had to return a phone, but last time, it was a slower pace, and no issues, and I reminded myself to get the card out.
Got 99% of my contacts. Just wishing there was somehow to track the phone, and have hope, but it was nothing that was life critical.. And cost of new cars is cheap.
Chalk up to "pay attention".... but oh, the frustration of 6 visits to the stores in 32 days I had that phone. Ahh!

Is there any chance to control the user to open and close another company code posting period variant in TCODE: S_ALR_87003642.
In our system we are using the same client for different countries. So user can able to change the other country company code posting periods.
We would like to control either on the country (or) organizational unit(company code) (or) posting period variant so that user can only open/close their country / company code posting periods.
Our present authorization role for open and close posting period contain the auth.Obj. : S_TABU_DIS.
Please share your knowledge if you come across this problem..

Analysis Authorization in BO 4.0 Webi report

Hi All,
I am using BO 4.0 and creating connection from Information Design tool to a BW query using BICS client. This connection is then published to CMC.
We are using SAP authentication and importing the roles from BW system. We have added profiles to this role and these profiles have Analysis Authorization set on Company Code. So one user can access data to one company code and vice versa. Now this works well in Bex Analyzer, but if I try to create a report in Webi, the analysis authorization fails. I went through the forum before posting this question and I found that is in 3.1 version and in most cases using SSO in universe connection solved the problem.
However in 4.0 I am using BICS client and followed the same processes to create a connection but for some reason it doesn't work ? Is this suppose to work differently in 4.0 ?
I have tried:
1. To create connection in Information Design tool using SSO, selecting user ID and password. It doesn't work.
2. Checked the Bex query and it already has Company code as a Characteristic restrictions (I have made it a mandatory variable).
3. Publish the connection to CMC with my Enterprise and SAP ID and in both cases it doesn't work.
Please let me know if anyone encountered a similar issue and what is the best method to resolve this.
(BO 4.0 no service pack or fix pack installed on the system yet)

Using the other method to create a connection with User ID and password, I can create a connection and with the normal user login I can connect to the BW query but Analysis Authorization doesn't work.
Ingo : Could you be more specific what you mean here with the different users ? When you say "regular" user are you referring to an SAP credentials or SAP BusinessObjects Enteprrise credentials ?

Analysis Authorization Issue 7.3

Hello Friends,
System BW 7.3, Currently there are 80 odd analysis authorization objects
We want to introduce a new info object (GL Account) to be authorization relevant, ( there are few objects in the system which are already authorization relevant in the system with proper analysis authorization objects and they are working fine)
Things done, made the GL Account object authorization relevant in RSA1, Created 2 analysis authorization objects with GL Account and TCT objects and one with hierarchy restrictions and one open access.
Added this object to the user in addition to its already existing authorization objects. Created authorization variable in BEx.
Some how the authorization is not picked up and it gives us all the values in the report. But if I add the GL Account info object to the existing analysis authorization objects then it works fine.
I do not want to change all the existing analysis authorization objects to add GL Account.
Your inputs are most welcome.

Gajesh- I have added the new analysis authorization object to the user in RSECadmin.
Subhendu- Problem statement: What are the steps involved in making a new info object(GL Account) authorization relevant. Authorizations are given at hierarchy level. Can we create a new analysis authorization with GL Account only or do we have to add it to every existing analysis authorization
I have done the following steps
1. Made the GL Account object authorization relevant in RSA1,
2. Created 2 new analysis authorization objects with GL Account ( with hierarchy restrictions) and TCT objects and one with GL Account open access.
3. Added this object ( which has restrictions) to the user in RSECADMIN, in addition to its already existing authorization objects.
4. Created authorization variable in BEx.
5. No existing analysis authorization objects have been changed.
When I test the report, It does not restrict based on the hierarchy that I have given, it gives open access.
But If I add GL Account with restrictions to the existing analysis authorization object, it works good.
Guess I am missing some thing here.
Do you need any other screen shots.

Analysis Authorization Issue

I created an analysis authorization ZCO_CODE to trstrict it by a company code.
I added following objects in authorization with values.
0COMP_CODE = 1000
0TCAACTVT = 03
0TCAIFAREA = *
0TCAIPROV = *
0TCAVALID = *
Then I created a role Z:00:BW_REPORT, where I added following authorization objects S_RS_AUTH and restricted it by value ZCO_CODE. Then I assigned this role to a user test01.
When I execute a program RSEC_MIGRATION for this specific user, I do not see authorization object ZCO_CODE on 2nd step of this program. Any Idea Why? I think this object should show up as I want to migrate this specific object.
Help will be appreciated.

Okay here is my issue.
I have a Reporting authorization Object created earlier which is ZCOCODE. I though I'll have to create a new Analysis authorization object e.g. ZCO_CODE and then restrict it with other chars. as mentioned in Marc Bernards presentation and then you have to migrate it.
In selection list I can see old Reporting authorization object. If I select it and use option "Enhance existing profile" then It will update profile and not role? right....
How can I see whether it has updated existing profile?????
Do I need to create new Analysis Auth. for Company code or I can use old Reporting authorization for company code?
For testing purpose, I created a test user and assigned all reporting roles but It will not show up in RSEC_MIGRATION step???
