Authorization & iTunes 7

Hello, I posted this question but it never got a reply.
My G4 Mac died a few months ago. I purchased an external hd case so I could use the HD from my dead G4 to be used in my new Mac Book Pro. I authorized iTunes to be used with my Macbook Pro.
Problem. Some songs are still not authorized to be used with my laptop. I purchased some songs using a .mac account on the old G4 and I don't use that email account anymore for my Apple ID.
So I use my current Apple ID with the correct password. I get the authorize window and enter my new password.
It tells me that that 'machine authorization was successful' and the amount of authorized computers I have left.
But I still can't play that song. When I try playing it, I get the 'this computer is not authorized to play 'song. Would you like to authorize it?' message again.
But I authorized it and I was given a message that it was. What gives?
Can anyone help me?
Macbook Pro 2.0 ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Hi - I am not much help to you I'm afraid as I am having exactly the same problem but I hadnt ever changed by Mac. I have entered my password etc more times than I care to remember. I got an e-mail from support saying to remove keychain accesses etc and nothing worked whatsoever. I can play my iTunes music (on my Mac which has been authorised for at least a year) but when I try to link to a slideshow in iPhoto (even after authorising my mac for all songs) it constantly tells me this machine is not authorised. The viscious circle begins all over again.
Please can someone with any sort of knowledge help us out here?
Thanks

How do I authorize itunes in windows 8

    Hi Timbolax,
Here are instructions and information about authorizing iTunes:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
To authorize a computer using your Apple ID
    Open iTunes
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.
    Cheers!

  • How can I authorize itunes songs purchased with ID that no longer exists?

I bought an Macbook Pro and am transferring all the songs I bought from
my old laptop to the Macbook. Some of the songs were purchased from
itunes using two different apple IDs that don't exist anymore. I tried to
authorize the Macbook to play these songs using the old ID and password but it
doesn't work (I'm pretty certain I have the correct passwords but it is possible they are wrong). Please don't tell me I can't listen to these songs
anymore. Is there anything I can do?
    Joseph

I have exactly the same problem! When I try to play a song purchased under an old Apple ID (before I moved to Japan), I get: "This computer is not authorized to play "(song title)". Would you like to authorize it? To play this song you must authorize this computer to play songs purchased using the account "(my OLD Apple ID)". You may authorize up to 5 computers for each account."
I tried to authorize the song using my OLD Apple ID and password, but it didn't work because that Apple ID no longer exists. The weird thing is that after trying to authorize a song with my NEW Apple ID, the computer tells me I have successfully authorized it but then the song won't play and I get the same Authorize Computer dialogue box popping up again when I click the play button or double-click the song title.
    It's VERY frustrating!

  • How to authorize iTunes on iPad with wife,s I'd

My wife and I have an iPod.  It is under her apple I'd.  I have a new iPad and want to sync her iTunes with it.  How do I do it.  The iPad is set up with my apple I'd.

I was able to transfer her purchases to iPad by inputting her apple I'd when prompted.  I think it is like some type of authorization
Ion process.  I just did it without really understanding what I was doing.

  • Authorize Itunes, Iphone now wont sync??

oK, im gonna be honest here.
I previously Jailbreak my iPhone, but was having a few problems with it (Buggy) so i restored Back to factory settings. now i got all my Music and films back onto my iPhone. but when i try to select and Sync my Already Payed for applications a message pops up.
_Message states:_ Some of the Applications in your iTunes library, including "applications name", were not installed on the iphone "My iPhone's Name" because you are not authorized for them on this computer.
***? This is my only computer i use. . .
So after that i goto the menu bar on my Mac and Select, Store > Authorize Computer (box pops up asking for users account and Password)
    *Enter information*
iTunes thinks for a quick second then pops up another box.
_Message States:_ *There was an error storing your authorization information on this comuter*
The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or Deauthorize this computer (tryed that) if the permissions cannot be changed.
Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this problem. I just want my applications on my iPhone again, but i dont want to go paying for software that ive already payed for.
    Thanks.

  • What if i have more than five computers to authorize itunes accoutn?, what if i have more than five computers to authorize itunes account?

itunes only allows me to authorize five computers.  but what if i've used more than five computers in my lifetime with my itunes account?

Well, what i was tyring to do was re-download my purchased items. and the message I get is....
You have already authorized five computers.
you can still make purchases on this computer, but you will need to transfer them to an authorized machine or device to play them.  if you wish to play purchases on this computer, you will need to first deauthorize a currently authorized computer.
    BUY or CANCEL.
the thing is...as i mentioned before, i already deauthorized all the other computers. so i don't get why it is making me buy it again.

  • NONSENSE problem: can anyone help authorize iTunes 7.0.2 old account?

iTunes 7 is the right proof that perfect is enemy of good!
Used to live in Austria for 3 years where I purchased iTunes songs with an old Austrian account. Half a year ago moved to Sweden and changed my account, having cancelled the old one. Few days ago tried to listen my songs withe recently installed iTunes - bad surprise - I cannot do it now, because it asks for authorization for the songs which I legally purchased while in Austria! And I can't authorize half of my "Austrian" songs, because the old account and old email do not exist anymore.
What the heck is going on there in Apple!!!? Playing bad disappointing tricks on devoted users...
    Can anyone help?

  • Authorize itunes account??

it wont let me watch anything on my computer or copy anything on to my ipod.
"you cannot have more than 5 computers authorized"
    i dont.
    whats going on?

If your system crashes or you reinstall your
operating system without deauthorising iTunes first,
even a single computer can use up your limit of 5
authorisations. If you've reached your limit of 5
you have the option once a year to deauthorise them
all in one go and start over again: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and
    Deauthorisation
See also this article: One computer using multiple iTunes Music Store
    authorizations
it says i must wait until august 27 to do it.
is there a way to do it faster?
reformating my computer has caused this problem.

  • Can't authorize iTunes to play a movie I own?

Hi! I bought a movie a long time ago on iTunes and have watched it before. I went to try and watch it again and got an authorization message. I typed in my password, but the same window asking me to authorize this computer to play the movie popped up again. It continues to do so whenever I type in my password, which I know is correct. How do I fix this and get it to play my movie?

  • Need to re-authorize iTunes after Time Machine restore -bug?-

After a ganked iTunes/Quicktime update I had to use Time Machine to restore my Mac.
After trying to re-sync my iPod with iTunes I was informed that this machine was no longer authorized despite it being the same machine.
I had to re-authorize the machine through iTunes and now have 2 authorized Macs even though it's the same machine and I can't de-authorize the "old version" since it just de-authorizes what you're using i.e. the "new version"
My worry is that if I have to carry out further Time Machine restores then my 5 authorized slots will fill up and then I'll have to de-authorize all computers which you can only do once a year.
Has anyone experienced anything similar and I assume this is a bug?

Yes I've seen that and yes, it's a case of sending Mac OS X Feedback .

  • HT1420 Hard Drive crash, installed new drive, can't de-authorize, iTunes thinks it is a new PC. Any ideas?

I recently had a new HDD installed in my PC. Obviously iTunes thinks this is a new PC now becuase of a fresh OS install. How can I de-authorize the PC iTunes recognizes so I can authorize PC with new HDD? I am at my 5 device limit. (I am running Windows Vista 64)

Try individually deauthorizing it even if iTunes thinks it isn't authorized. If that doesn't work, use the Deauthorize All function.
