Authorization on more than 5 computers

I am trying to find a way to authorize more that five computers. Even when I try to de-authorise on of the computers I don't use any more, I am not allowed to do it until a date next year. Is there any way around this?
Thanks
Bill

You need to go to that computer, either physically or through Virtual Network Computing, and individually deauthorize it, or click here and request assistance.

  • Authorization for more than 5 computers...

I tried to authorize my new computer to transfer my purchases from my iphone but it wouldn't let me because it said that I have already authorized 5 computers. I have gone through about 5 computers since I've had this itunes account.............is there anyway I can authorize my computer even though I have reached the authorization max?

If you no longer have access to them you should be able to log into your iTunes account and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then re-authorise those computers that you still have and need (up to a maximum of 5 computers) : authorising/de-authorising

  • Can I authorize more than five computers on one iTunes account?

Can I authorize more than five computers on one iTunes account?  I have several PC's being used as HTPC's and I'd like to use iTunes on all of them.  My three iPhones and three PC's have taken up all of my authorizations.  If I need to create a second iTunes account, can it be linked to my existing account?

Todd, some suggested reading, none of which looks to me as requiring authorization as an iTunes device for Apple TV:

  • HT202213 How can I authorize more than 5 computers with the same Apple ID?

Somebody knows how to authorize more than 5 computers with the same Apple ID? I have One Apple IMac, Apple TV, I-PAD, 2 HP PC's, One I-Phone and one I-Pod Touch. I would like to have the possibility to use as I wish the same Apple ID on one of those without deauthorizing another one.

    You cannot.
Authorization applies ONLY to computers.  Ipods/ipads/iphones/Apple TVS are NOT authorized at all.

  • You Cannot Authorize More than 5 Computers...

    Hello,
I have a new Dell laptop running Vista. I waited until a new version of iTunes came out and downloaded 7.1 this morning. I backed up all my songs which has been successful and it looks like the album cover art is there too.
I continue to get this message which says:
You cannot authorize more than 5 computers...
You have already authorized 5 computers with this account. to authorize this computer you must first deauthorize one of the other computers.
I read the KB article and quite frankly am totally confused. My old laptop has been reformatted and given to a friend. iTunes was not installed on it.
How do I get rid of this annoying message? Should I attempt to synch up my Nano or wait first until I get help with this message. Sorry the KB about deauthorizing and authorizing is very confusing to me.
All I'm doing is trying to get my iTunes installed on a new laptop restored with all my old songs.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Specifically this part:
" If you find you have reached 5 authorizations due to system upgrades, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen. Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers or if you have used this option within the last 12 months."
This is what you may need to do.

  • Authorizing more than 5 computers - How to switch or edit authorization???

    Hello,
Is it possible to switch authorizations for computers for iTunes? I'm trying to get music from one computer to another, but it tells me I already have 5 computers authorized...I'm not sure how that happened, as I have only authorized 3 computers to my knowledge. Is it possible to edit the authorization of computers?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Chris,
You cannot authorize more than 5 computers on one account.
So, the easiest thing to do may be to deauthorize all your computers and then add back only the ones you want.
This article provides all the details.

  • Authorize more than 5 computers

How do I authorize more than 5 computers in iTunes? And yes I know the limit issue is agreements with the music industry. But I do not want to listen to music. I need to support a business network with the following
1 OS X Server on mac mini
    4 iMacs as Point-of-Sale
    3 employees with iMacs
    2 MacBook Pro laptops
And growing. I need to run apps like iWorks & Numbers purchased from the store. What are we supposed to do?

I am not a legal expert (far from it), but it is my understanding that you can run apps you purchased (from the app store) on multiple computers that you own or control. It would be best to check with the app store to see if your particular situation meets their policy.

  • You can not authorize more than 5 computers

I have music on my MacBook Pro, in iTunes, that I want to use, but it comes from an old account, that I don't use anymore, and some computers/iPods that are really not working. When I want to ear those musics/songs, I receive this message, when trying to enter the account, old, not the actual one: "you can not authorize more than 5 computers"
    What can I do?

    I quote:
You can deauthorize all computers connected to your Apple ID if you've reached the maximum five authorizations:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).
(end quote): once done you can then re-authorise computers as needed.

If you have reached the limit of 5, then deauthorize all and authorize the active computers:

  • ITunes will not allow me to authorize more than 5 computers.

I'm getting this message ob my new iMac from iTunes. You cannot authorize more than 5 computers.
You have already authorized this computer you must first deauthorize one of the computers. I did that with my old computer. did a clean install on other with Mac OS X. Anybody can help would be appreciated. Thank you for looking.

If you go to your account under the Store menu in iTunes - you will have the option to deauthorize all machines (if you do have 5 authorized). I think you can only do this once a year. Then you need to authorize the machines you still use.
A clean install does not do anything to the authorization, it's stored on your account at the iTunes store.

  • What if i have more than five computers to authorize itunes accoutn?, what if i have more than five computers to authorize itunes account?

itunes only allows me to authorize five computers.  but what if i've used more than five computers in my lifetime with my itunes account?

Well, what i was tyring to do was re-download my purchased items. and the message I get is....
You have already authorized five computers.
you can still make purchases on this computer, but you will need to transfer them to an authorized machine or device to play them.  if you wish to play purchases on this computer, you will need to first deauthorize a currently authorized computer.
    BUY or CANCEL.
the thing is...as i mentioned before, i already deauthorized all the other computers. so i don't get why it is making me buy it again.

I am unable to play any of my music that I have bought from iTunes music store because when I try to play my music on my new computer it says "You cannot authorize more than five computers". In fact, I only have four computers using my iTunes music account. Any suggestions?

hmmmm. perhaps check to see if you've ended up with multiple authorisations on one of those computers:
