Authorization to Social Security Numbers
We need to for SOX compliance remove view access of Social Security number from all Time Administrators. I have changed all headers on Time entry info types removing the SSN. We have found that without some access to info type 002 (Personnel Data) Time Evaluation will not run and TA have no search access to employees. Any knowledge you can pass on for this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I do not want to hide the field - just mask some of the numbers.
For example, the SSN should display as XXX-XX-1234.
I don't see that you can do this with V_T588M.

Is it possible to encrypt the employee's social security number at the database level?
If so, how is this configured? Do you use SAPCRYPTOLIB like you do credit card numbers?
Or, do you have to purchase a third-party product?
Side question: Is it configurable to mask the social security number on the screens, or is it necessary to use screen exits?

Why does Firefox remember Social Security numbers?
I do not think this is normal operation, so I am unsure if this is Firefox's fault or the website's fault. I was just doing something on Paypal.com and when it came time to fill in my social security number, it had "suggestions" pop up under the fields with my SSN that it remembered before. Things like SS# and credit card numbers should not be remembered like this because it's a major security issue for if someone else uses my computer.
I do not want to disable remembering fields entirely because that feature is useful to me. Names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, is all okay to be auto-filled in, but not something as extremely sensitive as SS#'s.
Again, sorry if this is Paypal's fault. I will be contacting them instead if it is.

Using IronPort c series to find SSN social security numbers
We have IronPort C-series, M-series, and IEA appliances and are currently manually encrypting e-mails with the [send secure] subject string. All of that is working great. What we are now looking at is using the SSN smart tag in a content filter to start cleaning up our outgoing e-mails. Currently I only have 'notify' as an action so that we can see where and how much of a problem we have. That has run for a while and now we are getting ready to start possibly bouncing the mail back to the sender or automatically encrypting the outgoing e-mail with our IEA appliances. The question that I have is currently not all of our internal users are licensed for the IEA so I can't just encypt everything that the SSN smart tag finds. OK, so I can bounce the e-mail back to the users that are not licensed... Sounds good... well, what about false positives? How do they get the e-mail sent that IronPort is stopping because of SSN false positives?
I've thought of a couple of ideas but would be interested in hearing what the other admins have come up with that works for them. THANKS.

JasonI use outbound mail content filters and reg-ex. you have to have a regex that includes multiple seperators. I use these again for subject fields. While these are not perfect, they work quite well with very low false positives. You could continue to make more RegEX's but these seem to work for me.

I've created a DLP policy to block SSN's. The problem is it only looks for the word "SSN". The rule in the DLP is looking for SSN's. It blocks the email if I have the letters "SSN" in it with a fake social, but if
I remove the letters "SSN" it allows it to send. Is there a way to tune how it reads sensitive info?

Need to add dashes (-) to Social Security Number
I need to add dashes to Social Security Numbers. The current numbers look like 123456789. They should look like:
123-45-6789. How do I add the dashes?

formula = left({ssn},3) + "-" + mid({ssn}, 4,2) + "-" + right({ssn}, 4)
and place the fomula where you want to see the SSN with dashes. (If the field is numeric, you'll need to add CStr()...)

Not sure if this is every company, but we have pretty strict rules for SSN's. We use the C150. We have the following rule to catch the main SSN offensives and this works very well.

But, we actually need to catch 9 digit numbers also such as 555555555. We are having a lot of problems with this rule and making it work good. So far, we have caught ticket numbers, HTML font classes, Outlook meetings, etc. I know this is going to be a tough rule, but wondering if anyone else had luck making one work. This one seems to catch 9 digit numbers if there is a letter on either side or more than a 9 digit number, but not if it has a hypen, period, comma, etc on either side.

Smart Identifiers
When you use message rules that scan message content, you can use smart identifiers to detect certain patterns in the data.
Smart identifiers can detect the following patterns in data:
• Credit card numbers
• U.S. Social Security numbers
• CUSIP (Committee on Uniform Security Identification Procedures) numbers
• ABA (American Banking Association) routing numbers
To use smart identifiers in a filter, enter the following keywords in a filter rule that scans body or attachment content:

When you use a smart identifier in a filter rule, enter the smart-identifier keyword in quotes within a filter rule that scans the body or attachment file, as in the example below:

How can a line or letters or numbers, such as a social security number, be redacted or covered in a pdf so no one else can uncover it? If its covered with an annotation in Preview, some one else can uncover it after its emailed.
Why not just get them to Typex it out on the screen then? :-P

Raheem, sorry for the inconvenience caused and I would like to inform you that there is a billing issue with one of your iTunes Store orders and you are unable to resume purchasing with your iTunes Store account. Unfortunately, the iTunes Store has been unable to verify an authorization from your_financial_institution and has not received payment for order (my order number was here). As soon as this order is paid for, you'll be able to resume purchasing with your iTunes Store account.
Not being able to verify an authorization is a sign that something needs to be addressed by the issuer of the card. You will need to contact your financial institution to determine the specific cause of the card being rejected.
When contacting your financial institution, ask to speak with the fraud/security department. The representative will need to thoroughly review your account until they locate and resolve what is causing the issue. If there are holds on your account, those will need to be removed. Please note that your financial institution can also choose to bypass the authorization process.
Once your financial institution has resolved the issue, you should be able to pay for the order (my order number was here) and resume purchasing. If you are not able to resolve the authorization issue with your financial institution, I recommend trying to add a new credit card or redeeming enough store credit to pay the balance in full.

The field already have a nice little script that changes the users input to UPPERCASE -
so that if the user writes abs - the output is ABS :-)
Unfortunally it is now possible to write AB8 or some other combination of letters and numbers...

As far as I know, as you mentioned, the control of these information belongs to the infotypes. The infotypes are primarly authorized by the objecto PLOG (with the fields INFOTYP and SUBTYP).
You need to check the role with you are looking to restrict the access to these information and accesss the values of infotypes and subtypes of the information of HR wich you like to have access.
Usually, when you add a Tx wich involve PLOG object, it adds full authorization ("*" in almost all fields), that's why you need to get in the role and change these values.
Ask your HR consultant and the HR department of your company, about the information allowed to see and the values of infotypes/subtypes.

In the mean time, we have to take help of regex and provide workaround.

Social Security Number Field Qs.
I generally work more on the graphics/layout end of Adobe products, primarily with Photoshop and InDesign... But my boss decided I need to redo all our old forms by redesigning them in Adobe LiveCycle 7.1. I have a field where the end user will be required to input a Social Security Number. Our end users are... not tech savvy, to say the least, and because the old forms already have the dashes that go between the numbers (999-99-9999) before the end user clicks into the field, they have to remain like that on the new forms I am creating.
In the "Value" tab, in the "Object" pallete, I am able to enter a Default Value but when I preview the form and attempt to enter data, the default text (blank spaces and dashes) do not disappear. Is there a way to make this work, without scripting? I know nothing about scripting so I don't know the first place to start to even attempt to write one. If scripting is the only way, does anyone have a script you can post to me, or a URL I can go to, to read up on HOW to do it?

In LiveCycle Designer 7, in the Library, under the Custom tab, there is a SSN element that is pre-formatted. The problem is, the people I am designing the form for, want the dashes to be in the box before the end user selects the box to type the SSN in. Once the box is selected, the dashes should remain, and the end user will type in the SSN and the cursor will simply skip over the dashes to continue filling the field.
I'm attaching what I have... I'm starting to think they just won't get what they're asking for. -
