Authorize computer Error? What to do?

My account says I have one computer authorized.  Yet when I try to play protected music, I get the message that I must authorize this computer, and when I press the authorize computer button, I get a "You cannot authorize more than five computers" message

I have a similar issue, If I try to sync I get stuck in a never ending loop of asking to authorize my computer. I have trird to authorize and then sign out reboot and try again, same issue. Also to de-authoerize and reboot, checked my accout to see if there was something hinky there and no. I only started to have this issue after an IOS 7.. update along with the Itunes 11... update. I also tried what was suggested with no luck. It's just a never ending loop of asking for the computer to be authrized, and never syncing up.

  • Can't authorize computer - error 42408

Bought my husband an iPod shuffle for Christmas, think it's the newest gen as it's the square one with voiceover button on the top.
It's installed ok on my husbands laptop but when I tried to authorise it which I'm sure I did when he first started using iTunes it says that the computer cannot be authorised due to an error within the iTunes store and the code is Error 42408. Quick search through the forums only gives threads relating to the problem with iPhones. All my husbands music is still in iTunes and the store can be accessed. What is the solution to the problem?
Husbands laptop has Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 on it in case this is important. Apart from fairly basic things, I find Vista hard to use
Thanks to anyone who can answer this question.

ON a Mac, this error usually means itunes needs to be reinstalled. So for WIndows Vista, you might try the same thing - a repair install from Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features.
If that doesn't work, if it were my PC, next thing I'd try is deleting the SC folder and restarting my PC as explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389?viewlocale=en_US
    Good luck!

  • Can't authorize computer - error -9813

    Sigh.
    I can't authorize a mac mini (non intel) running OS X 10.4.11
    The error I get is:
"We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (-9813). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later."
This began yesterday with iTunes 7, and has carried through to 8 (installed today). I've tried the usual (repair permissions, trash prefs files), all to no avail.

I have had the same problem going on for a long time now....extremely frustrated...would call apple, but i don't use the phone...ever..
i have found numerous forum threads on the same exact problems and they all point to root certificates it seems. i have reset keychain, but that didn't work.
at least its preventing me from spending money...
    please someone help us.

  • Initially stating No authorization required using Adobe.  When I try to change it so I can transfer downloaded books by my Nook e-reader it I get an error message stating the Adobe user name and password is associated with another computer.  What gives?

When I set up Adobe reader on my computer to be able to download books from a library and then transfer to my Nook e-reader, I initially stating No authorization required using Adobe.  When I try to change it so I can transfer downloaded books by my Nook e-reader it I get an error message stating the Adobe user name and password is associated with another computer.  What gives?

This is pretty surprising and wierd that even Reader 10.1.1 is crashing on your system. It works pefectly for me.
Would it be possible for you to get the crash dump, and upload it, so that I can have a look at the same.
Download PROCDUMP from <http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900.aspx> and extract it to a folder, say, c:\temp\procdump.exe
Open cmd prompt and type "cd c:\temp".
Launch the browser and open the PDF.
Open task manager, sort processed by name. Two AcroRd32.exe instances  should have been launched. Note the PID (a small integer like 5588) corresponding to the AcroRd32.exe with the higher memory usage; this is the process that must be crashing. Note this PID.
On the cmd window, type "procdump -e -ma 5588 c:\temp\01.dmp" (replace 5588 with the actual PID of the process noted in Step 4). Procdump will now wait for the aoolication to crash. If it throws a EULA, accept it.
Perform your steps to cause the crash.
Procdump will have created a dump file at "c:\temp\01.dmp". Zip it up (since it will be 100s of MBs otherwise) and share with me.
Thanks in advance for all your help

  • Error message:  Cannot sync songs purchased in iTunes to iTouch because computer is not authorized.  I go in and authorize computer (only computer I have ever used for iTunes), seems to be successful.  Then I try to sync again and it gives same error mesg

It just goes in a circle.  This computer not authorized to sync purchased songs to iTouch.  Follow directions to authorize computer, seems successful.  Sync again and it comes up with the same error message....this computer not authorized to sync iTune purchases to iTouch.  I have deauthorized the computer and reauthorized and it didn't make a difference.  I updated and restored to factory settings.  Still same error message.  I have had this problem the last 2 times I have synced.  Worked previously.  Any ideas??

additional info:  I looked into similar complaints.  1 suggested that something is wrong with the files.  Delete them off of computer and divice (but they are not on my divice anymore) and then download them again from iTunes purchase history.  Went in to check iTunes purchases to make sure the songs would be there if I did follow these steps.  Well, NONE of them are in my purchase history.....probably the real problem here.  I had an original iPod Nano and then upgraded to my current iTouch.....same computer for both.  Could there have been a problem at the point of switching over to the iTouch?  That doesn't make sence to me because it is through iTunes and it was the same account for both.  I thought I'd be smart and put all the songs in a playlist and burn to a CD and them load them back in that way.....but I was not authorized to burn to a CD....go figure.  Any idease would be great!!

  • I am getting the error "We're sorry we cannot complete your request on the iTunes store at this time. Please try again later." on both my iPhone and iTunes on my computer. What is wrong with iTunes? Is the server down???

I am getting the error "We're sorry we cannot complete your request on the iTunes store at this time. Please try again later." on both my iPhone and iTunes on my computer. What is wrong with iTunes? Is the server down or what? I need to download some things and update some apps...

I've been getting the same message for like an hour now.  Since everything was working fine a few hours ago, and nothing changed on my end before it stopped working, I'm guessing it's something on Apple's end.  They probably already know about it by now, and are hopefully working on fixing it, so there's probably not much we can do but wait for them to fix it.

    Hello I BLACK,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you have never authorized any other computers, this computer might be using multiple iTunes Store authorizations.  Please follow the instructions in the following article to deauthorize your computer.

  • Authorize computer in a loop after upgrading to 7.7.1.11

We have been working with iTunes Store Support for a week, but have not been able to resolve the following issue.
We upgraded to 7.7.1.11 on 8/3, since the upgrade none of the hundreds of songs videos and TVShows purchased and downloaded prior to Sunday 8/3 will play in Itunes or the iPod touch (16Gb with 2.0 software update installed).
When we click on a song, movie or show, we receive the message "This computer is not authorized ...."
We than put in the password and receive the message: "Machine Authorization was Successful", but the songs/videos/shows still don't play. When you click on it again it asked again for authorization.
We were allowed to download a purchase from the weekend again and that works fine with the same account/password information, but previous purchases don't work at all.
We have followed multiple set of instructions received from iTunes Store support and the support website, including:
    1) De-authorizing, re-authorizing
    2) Re-installing iTunes
    3) Removing the SC folder
    4) Re-building the iTunes Library
    5) Re-building iTunes Preferences
    6) Creating a new user acount and installing iTunes
    7) Installing iTunes on a different computer with a different operating system (Windows 2000 instead of XP SP 3)
    8) Re-installed songs from a backup ...
    9) Updating iTunes Store Account Information, as instructed by support.
    10) Scanned for viruses ...
    11) Updated Windows XP ...
    12) Restored iPod Touch software
We have been loyal shareholders and customers to Apple and iTunes and were in the process of purchasing iPhones for the family, but this is becoming very aggravating.
I have never allowed my son to download music from other sources and been giving him an allowance to buy ftom iTunes. We have a lot of money invested in it and would like to see this resolved as soon as possible, but don't know were to turn from here.
    Any suggestions are welcome.

We have this very same problem.
Our family have used iTunes and Apple TV almost exclusively now for at least 6 months buying online media.
We have invested well over $1,200 including an Apple TV, and as of the last update ALL of our content has been locked out.
We can not play any of our Apple TV Content - movies we have purchased, box sets we have downloaded (and only watched half of).
Music we have paid for and downloaded.
All of it is now locked up in this Authorization Loop error.
We have emailed support, and received the "We want your iTunes experience to be the best possible" lip service only and a promise that they are investigating. This is also the THIRD time we have had this problem.
    We have tried the install/re-install;
    The deauthorization/re-authorization;
    Deleting library files;
    Installing iTunes on ANOTHER computer;
    None of it has worked.
Not to mention every time we try one of these crazy time consuming "fixes" the Apple TV deletes all the files and has to re-sync which takes several hours as we have a lot of content.
As of last night we have decided as a family to no longer use any of Apple's online media services.
There are countless other vendors and on demand media services now that it seems pointless and almost diabolical to continue with a company that has so many technical problems - yet pretends it does not.
We were in the process of looking at buying a couple of iPhones and even a Mac laptop. But there is no way we can bury ourselves in deeper with a company that at a whim, can LOCK down all of our content and offer no explanation for it other than they hope we enjoy our iTunes experience.
Well this is a notice that we are most certainly NOT enjoying our iTunes experience and Apple, you have received our very last dollar.
    Regards,

  • Aggravated: Unable to Erase Authorization, Here's what I've already tried...

I need to test out Epub files I create before sending them to market, so I downloaded Adobe Digital Editions for Mac from here: Download | Adobe Digital Editions
    I followed installation setup
I logged in with my existing Adobe ID
I downloaded a few borrowed Epub books from my local library so I could test an already-working file and be sure the program works sufficiently before trying the file I created.
I then tried to add the *.acsm file by both File>Add to Library and by double-clicking on the file in Finder.
I received the following message: "Unable to Download Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY
I went to the help page here: License server communication error: E_ACT_NOT_READY
I followed the instructions to erase authorization, but received the following message: "Unable to Erase Authorization. Please try after some time."
I tried this multiple times but always received the same error message.
I looked here: I'm unable to deauthorize my computer.  Getting an error message "Unable to erase authorization.  Please try again after some time."
I could not find the activation.dat file, as the furthest I got was "Computer/Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe" ...but there was no folder for Adobe Digital Editions. I replied on the thread.
Wondering if it would help, I uninstalled and then re-installed Digital Editions
    Same problems are occurring.
At a loss after searching every forum topic on "unable to erase authorization" and anything remotely associated with it (especially since most posts were unanswered), I called Adobe support since I have a CC license. However, Adobe phone support does not support ADE. I asked them to inform a supervisor that questions on the forum are going unanswered.
I am now ready to throw the damn computer.
Please help me. I need this program to work as I am trying to create my own Epub documents and want to test them in a reader app before making the files available to the public.

    Hello,
You will find "Go" option on top left corner of your mac machine. Click on "Go" and select "Go to folder"
    Then type:  ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions
    Click on "Go"
drag the activation.dat file to the trash.
    ADE will be deauthorized now.
    Now Authorize ADE again.
    Launch ADE
    Help-> authorize computer.
    Error will be fixed !!

  • Authorize Computer with the latest version of iTunes installed?

I searched all the previous threads with detailed information on how to authorize your computer, and it goes like this:
    1) Go to your library
    2) On the menu bar, choose 'Store' and then from the drop down menu choose "Authorize Computer"
I just downloaded the newest version today (2/23/2013) and my Menu bar is now totally different than the previous version on my other laptop.
On one end it says MUSIC in the middle it says Songs, Albums, Artists, Genres, Playlists, Radio, and Match. And on the other end it says iTunes Store.
The old menu bar has vanished, the new menu has no place in the iTunes library to choose "Authorize Computer",. is there anyone who has the LATEST version of iTunes that knows where to go to authorize my computer?
I actually authorized it by using "Home Sharing" feature, and I'm not sure how I found this but when it asked if I wanted to authorize the computer, I chose it, but that was not found in the instructions anywhere, so does anyone know what the deal is? Do they need new instructions for this latest version, or am I just an idiot?

If you're using Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen.
If you're using Windows, press the Alt and S keys.
