Authorize Computer

Just got a new computer and trying to transfer my music using the same account. My songs are displayed, but I have to "authorize" the computer to play them. How do I do that?

If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

When i p[lug my iphone to my pc it wont sync....and i tried looking for the authorize computer on the itunes store and it is not there

    Hello, vizords.
Thank you for the question.  You will need to enable the menu bar in iTunes 11 so you can access the store menu which will allow you to authorize the computer.  Here are the steps on how to process this.

  • Error message:  Cannot sync songs purchased in iTunes to iTouch because computer is not authorized.  I go in and authorize computer (only computer I have ever used for iTunes), seems to be successful.  Then I try to sync again and it gives same error mesg

It just goes in a circle.  This computer not authorized to sync purchased songs to iTouch.  Follow directions to authorize computer, seems successful.  Sync again and it comes up with the same error message....this computer not authorized to sync iTune purchases to iTouch.  I have deauthorized the computer and reauthorized and it didn't make a difference.  I updated and restored to factory settings.  Still same error message.  I have had this problem the last 2 times I have synced.  Worked previously.  Any ideas??

additional info:  I looked into similar complaints.  1 suggested that something is wrong with the files.  Delete them off of computer and divice (but they are not on my divice anymore) and then download them again from iTunes purchase history.  Went in to check iTunes purchases to make sure the songs would be there if I did follow these steps.  Well, NONE of them are in my purchase history.....probably the real problem here.  I had an original iPod Nano and then upgraded to my current iTouch.....same computer for both.  Could there have been a problem at the point of switching over to the iTouch?  That doesn't make sence to me because it is through iTunes and it was the same account for both.  I thought I'd be smart and put all the songs in a playlist and burn to a CD and them load them back in that way.....but I was not authorized to burn to a CD....go figure.  Any idease would be great!!

  • Authorize Computer with the latest version of iTunes installed?

I searched all the previous threads with detailed information on how to authorize your computer, and it goes like this:
    1) Go to your library
    2) On the menu bar, choose 'Store' and then from the drop down menu choose "Authorize Computer"
I just downloaded the newest version today (2/23/2013) and my Menu bar is now totally different than the previous version on my other laptop.
On one end it says MUSIC in the middle it says Songs, Albums, Artists, Genres, Playlists, Radio, and Match. And on the other end it says iTunes Store.
The old menu bar has vanished, the new menu has no place in the iTunes library to choose "Authorize Computer",. is there anyone who has the LATEST version of iTunes that knows where to go to authorize my computer?
I actually authorized it by using "Home Sharing" feature, and I'm not sure how I found this but when it asked if I wanted to authorize the computer, I chose it, but that was not found in the instructions anywhere, so does anyone know what the deal is? Do they need new instructions for this latest version, or am I just an idiot?

If you're using Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen.
If you're using Windows, press the Alt and S keys.

  • I tried to authorize a new computer with windows 8. Per iTunes Help, there should be an "authorize computer" section on the iTunes store menu. I only have two computers authorized so I know another one is possible. Suggestions?

I tried to authorize a new computer with Windows 8 for my iTunes acct.  Per iTunes Help, there is an "authorize computer" prompt in the menu selection on iTunes store website. I can find no such listing.  I have two computers linked to my account so I know that adding another one would be ok.  Any suggestions?

Press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer.

  • HT1848 When I go to the iTunes store "Authorize Computer" doesn't show up. Anyone know where I can find it?

    hello,
i'm trying to authorize my computer but when i go onto the itunes store, I can't find where it says "authorize computer". My apple ID and account are already logged in, I'm trying to just transfer my songs from my iPhone to my mac. Any suggestions for how to do this?

Check in the Store menu at the top of your iTunes application on the computer rather than visiting the iTunes Store..

  • Apple TV and authorize computer

I am trying to play purchases through apple tv but it keepes asking me to authorize computer. This is already authorized. Any ideas ?

I just encountered the same problem; I recently had an update to my Apple TV, and I'm wondering if that caused it.  However, I found a fix:
    1) Deauthorize your Mac iTunes library.
    2) Shut down iTunes and set the Apple TV to "sleep".
    3) Restart iTunes and the Apple TV.
    4) Authorize your Mac iTunes library.
Home share will have been automatically shut down when you de-authorized your Mac.
    5) Restart Home Share.
...And then I could finally play my purchases using my Apple TV (both bought on my Mac and those purchased through the Apple TV).
    Hope that helps!

  • Frequent authorize computer requests before synch of the iOS apps or starting of the AppStore apps.

    Hello,
almost every time, when I synch an iOS device or like to start a Mac AppStore application, the iTunes/AppStore request to authorize this computer.
I tried all the hint from the official Apple site (authorize via admin account, delete the special folder, de-authorize and the authorize again, remove all computer assigned to my account) but nothing helps so far.
    This is very annoying :(.
Also I places from time to time such requests for help in this forum, searched in internet but not solution so far.
I found out, that many of old song (some of them are still with DRM) and iPod games (all with DRM) are assigned to the account name, which is different as my current account name. I don't remember but it was change at some moment.
Anyway, after an authorization, I also able to play such DRM songs and sync iPod classic games to my iPod.
    So. please help.
    Many thanks in advanced.

I am trying to authorize my computer to download songs from cloud.  I cannot find the "Authorize Computer" option in itunes.  My computer is Associated with the account.

It is not actually in the iTunes Store, it is in the Store menu of iTunes.
To authorize, go to the Store menu item on the iTunes menu bar, and choose "Authorize This Computer..." as shown below.
If by any chance you don't see the menu bar ("File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, Help"), first enable it by using CTRL+B.
