Authorize songs from a previous account

I have songs on my Itunes that I need to authorize for my current account. These songs were purchased on my first account but then I had to change account information when I no longer had access to that e-mail. Is there anyway that I can authorize these tracks for this account? Thank you

Purchases cannot be transferred from one account to another. You may be able to sign into the account, even if the email address doesn't actually work, since basically it's just a text string where logging in is concerned. Then you could authorise the Mac for that account.
However you would be advised to go to http://appleid.apple.com and change the ID email to a functioning one, which can be any non-Apple address that hasn't been associated with an Apple ID in the past. If you do this please follow this procedure:
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support.
Note that if you have made purchases on another Apple ID you can't have them both up in iTunes at once, and you can't keep swopping between them - there is a 90 day limit on changing to another account.

Go to the Music section of your Library (very top-left corner) and see if your songs are there. The "Purchased" playlist may have been deleted or gotten corrupted, but if that happens it's not a big deal because your music should still be in your main Music Library.
If your music is NOT in the Music section of your Library, then go to the iTunes Store homepage and find the Quick Links list on the right side. At the top of that list, click Purchased and you can redownload all of your previous content that you might have lost.

Can I transfer songs from my admin account to a new user account?

I want to start using a user account as my main account instead of the admin account. I bought a bunch of songs from iTunes and downloaded them to my admin account.
Can I transfer these songs from my admin account to a new user account and then de-authorized the songs on my admin account?

If you don't change your iTMS account, you don't have to de-authorize.
Your computer is already authorized to play the songs.

i had an apple id that was terminated by accident and now i cant authorize songs from that account onto my new laptop i can only play them on the original computer. can i transfer purchases from the terminated account to the new one?

iTunes has no idea your old netscape account was deleted. The same username and password as before should work just fine if you're inserting it correctly. If you've forgotten the old password and need your email changed, try emailing the iTunes team:

I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.

You move the song files to /Users/Shared/ and then into iTunes from the other Mac OS X user account.
If you want to change the iTunes Store account associated with them, you need to redownload them from that account.

To what iTunes library is the nano normally synced? The iTunes library you use (i.e. all tracks are in a single iTunes library). An iTunes library in a different user account on that same computer? Another computer? We need to know your setup and scenario before we can offer intelligent advice.

The short answer is that you can't. Purchases are tied to the AppleID used to buy them. AppleID's cannot be merged, and the content cannot be transferred.

Your signature lists both, Mac and iOS device - are you asking about GarageBand on your Mac or your iPhone/iPad?
If you are asking about the upgrade from GarageBand '11 to GarageBand 10.0 on your Mac, the old GarageBand version should still be installed. The installer will have moved GarageBand '11 to a separate folder "GarageBand 6.0.5" in your Applications folder. Open this folder and click "GarageBand". Does this version still see your old projects? If not, type ".band" into the Spotlight searchfield in the upper right corner of your screen. Does that sfind your missing projects?
If you are asking about GarageBand on iPad/iPhone, there it is not possible to restore the previous version after you upgraded. And I do not see, how this upgrade could have deleted your projects. Have they completely vanished, or can you not open them any longer? If your projects have vanished, restore your device from your backup: See: iCloud: Backup and restore overview

Can't authorize songs from different Apple ID

I changed my Apple ID and now I can't play songs that were purchased from the same account, but a different ID. My computer is authorized, but it will not let me play the songs I purchased under the old ID.
Does anyone know how to fix this?????

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that but it only reset the password for my current account. When I searched for the previous Apple ID (which is really a former email address) I got this message: "We were unable to find your Apple ID with the information you provided. Please make sure the name you enter here matches your account information exactly." So it appears that Apple ID no longer exists.
The songs in question played fine until I upgraded to OS X 10.5.8 a couple months ago. I could play both those purchased under my old Apple ID and the ones I have under my current ID without any problems. Oh, and to clarify, when I get the authorization prompt, I do enter my current Apple ID and password, but that doesn't authorize those songs that were purchased under my old ID. It keeps defaulting back to the defunct account.
