Authorized mac refuses to sync apps

Hello,
I made the mistake of trying to use my computer to set up an iPod Touch I bought my mom as a birthday gift.  I set up an iTunes account for her and everything, but now that I'm in her home, trying to set it up her Mac, nothing is working.
Biggest issue:  her iTunes threatens to delete all the apps I installed for her (the "All existing apps and their data on the iPod will be replaced..." message).
This is happening even though I have authorized her computer.  I've also tried to Transfer Purchases; it refuses to do so.
I've even deauthorized her Mac and reauthorized it.  No dice.
I leave for the airport in a couple hours and would love to have this figured out beforehand.  Any ideas??
Many thanks,
Sean

You're welcome.
I just noticed, in poking around the Settings on mom's iPod, that when I hit Store, the apple ID that comes up is mine.  Does that mean that _every_ app on the phone was purchased through that account?
Sounds like it. In order to download apps with an iTunes account with iTunes on your computer, you must authorize the computer with the iTunes account with iTunes first, and you must be logged in to that iTunes account when purchasing an app. When transferring the apps purchased with that iTunes account from your iTunes library to the iPod, iTunes on your computer must be logged in to that iTunes account.
What would happen to the apps on the iPod if I signed out and re-signed in as Mom?
Nothing, but as already provided all apps - all free and paid apps include DRM protection which is tied/linked to the iTunes account used to download the apps with. If these apps were purchased with your iTunes account, you must authorize your Mom's computer with your iTunes account with iTunes along with giving your Mom your iTunes account password. This will be required to download any app updates for the existing apps downloaded with your iTunes account.

  • How to get books onto iPad when iBooks for Mac refuses to sync.

I have around 300 books which were originally in the books section of iTunes. Since upgrading to Mavericks the new iBooks for Mac is moved them all over and I ma now unable to access most of them on my iPad despite making sure all settings are correct. None of the books I use for study created by iBooks Author will now transfer. The only ones that seem to are those recently purchased from iTunes. Anybody out there found a solution yet. Apparently Apple admit that only books purchased from iTunes will sync, but I need to be able to get them on my iPad. I don't care if they sync or not.

There are a few categorical places one must visit in order to synchronize iBooks for Mac with IOS iBooks. There is no need to remove the iBook for Mac application.
System Preferences > iCloud > Documents and Data is enabled
IOS Settings > iBooks > Sync Collections (enabled) and optionally Sync Bookmarks (enabled)Assumption that iCloud is enabled on the IOS device with documents and data enabled
iBook for Mac > Preferences > General: Sync: Sync bookmarks, highlights, and collections across devices
    iTunes
Pick your IOS Device under DEVICES in the left nav
Choose Books along the top toolbar
In the Books panel, choose one of the following
    Books and PDF Files
    Books only
    PDF only
    In the Sync Books panel
    All Books
Selected BooksClick the box next to the books you wish to Sync
    Select iTunes Sync
The books (and PDF) you selected above are now on your IOS device

  • ITunes refuses to sync apps due to lack of authorization, when it *is* authorized?

    Hey all,
Just tried to sync my iPhone today, and received an error that 64/66 of my apps on my phone would be deleted unless I authorized my computer for them. Thought it was weird, since I'm already authorized, but figured I'd reenter my stuff anyway. Notifications popped up after saying "Your computer is already authorized," and then when I say "OK" to them, the "authorize your computer or your apps die" error pops up again.
I've tried deauthroizing and reauthorizing through both the Store>Authorize as well as the prompts, and neither work. Anyone know how to fix this?

Oddly enough, deauthorizing all computers worked for this. Hopefully that helps anyone else with issues.

  • 2 MACs, one Library, syncing Apps automatically?

    Hi,
Just bought a MBAir. Want to keep Mini (and big screen) for videos/music.
My setup is one iTunes library (&one account), Mini, MBA, iPad.
My issue is when updating apps. Perfect on MBA - which I connect to the iPad via USB to sync. Basically MBA has become main computer.
Prob is, the old Mini doesn't update the apps automatically (yes, I've selected "Install new app automatically'). I rarely use it anymore (but still need it), so I end up with too many apps to update (which have already been updated on the MBA/iPad) manually - and for the second time.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I don't think you can sync ipod and iphone to 2 different computers must use 1 computer for sync. you can share library and playlist between 2 computers. Just export selected playlist, save it to network folder on second import playlisy/library from network folder etc. Make sure main library folder is added to both computers. Because library export on computer 1 is not main library but the playlist library. I hope this help... Have a nice day

  • No app store present on iPod Touch 4th gen and can't sync apps in iTunes, tried restoring/updating

I've tried everything I know to fix this problem with no luck so far, I'm hoping someone can help. Note that iTunes has been updated to the latest version (and my friend's computer is running Windows 7, if that helps at all).
My friend has an iPod Touch 4th generation. A while back he asked me to help him get apps onto the iPod, and I discovered that the App Store on the iPod itself was nowhere to be found, nor can he remember ever having one. In addition to this, he can't sync apps onto the iPod from within iTunes - the option to sync in the apps tab is greyed out. The music/movies/etc. sync just fine, however. At the time, his iPod had iOS 4.1.
After checking for parental restrictions in his iTunes and the iPod, I found that his iPod has a restrictions password set, which he doesn't know. His parents have no memory of setting restrictions and don't know the password, either.
I read online that the only way to remove the restrictions password is to restore the iPod, and since this seemed to be a good idea anyway due to the odd issue with iTunes refusing to sync apps, we restored the iPod and updated to iOS 5.1 today. Unfortunately, the App Store is still nowhere to be found, and we still can't sync apps in iTunes. The iPod still claims a restrictions password has been set as well.
I have checked and double-checked that no restrictions are set in iTunes preferences. My friend created a new iTunes account, so that shouldn't be the problem. While we're hoping to get both iTunes sync and the iPod App Store app working properly, right now he just wants to be able to get apps onto his iPod.
Does anyone have any ideas why his iPod didn't come with an App Store app, why it still doesn't have the Store after restoring, why iTunes won't sync apps, or why the restrictions password is still set after the restore? I've honestly run out of ideas as to how to fix this.
Before I posted this, I did a little more looking online about the restrictions password, which is apparently restored along with a backup. Neither of us were present during the restore (we had to leave for a couple of hours after the restore had been started), so I'm only asking this because I don't have his iPod or computer with me at the moment to test it myself - is there a way to manually cancel restoring from a backup during the process? If so, I need to restore the iPod a second time.
In the meantime, any ideas about my other three questions?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Edit: His iTunes account is authorized, by the way.

What exactly happmens when you try? Error message?

  • IPod Touch 4G won't sync new apps on 2nd authorized computer, but WILL sync music, podcasts, etc.

    Hello.
Everywhere I've read about apps not syncing to the iPod touch while using iTunes on a second authorized computer have mentioned that they could sync nothing to the device. Yet I have a different problem, one where I have no problem syncing new music, podcasts, pictures, etc., and only new apps refuse to sync to the device.
I recently purchased a new iPod Touch 4G. My computer being away for repairs at the time that I bought it, I synced only podcasts, apps, pictures, and video to the device using a friend's computer under a different Apple ID. When I first synced it, I authorized that computer with the device, and it mentioned you could sync the device with up to 5 computers, so I figured I would have no problem when I got my own computer back.
Having now received my computer back, I connected my new iPod touch to my own iTunes under my Apple ID and authorized my computer as the second authorized computer. These are the only two computers I have ever synced the device with.
I copied my music library, more pictures, and more podcasts to the device with no problems, and they play/show on the device no problem. Also, I can still access and use all the content previously on my iPod.
I have downloaded a few new free apps that I wanted to sync to my iPod using my computer, but when I go to sync them to my iPod, they won't sync to the device. I have downloaded all the apps I had originally put on my iPod using my friends computer so that I would receive updates for the apps automatically. I have not tried to sync these, though I have (or iTunes at least is telling me I have) synced any updates that have since come up for the apps already on my iPod.
I have tried clicking and dragging the new apps from the apps tab over to the device tab, and iTunes shows them syncing, and to the best of my knowledge, shows that it has finished syncing them. It also shows that it has completely synced all the new apps when I try syncing on the apps tab under the device tab (the one that shows up when you click on the tab for your iPod, and is next to Summary, Pictures, Video, etc.). I have all the boxes checked off, and the boxes next to all the apps are checked off as if they're on my iPod, but they don't show up on the screen display next to it. When I click and drag the new apps over so they appear and click "apply," iTunes shows that it has completed the syncing process, but the apps won't show up on my iPod, and disappear from the sceen display on the device apps tab the next time I sync my iPod.
I have the latest version of iTunes, and have downloaded all updates for it. My iPod's less than a month old, so I don't think there's any updates for the iPod itself.
I also currently don't have the ability to sync over wi-fi, or have wi-fi access on my iPod at home, though I could set it up if it would fix the problem. Right now, I'm only syncing my iPod using usb and iTunes.
I would prefer, if possible, not to have to restore the iPod to factory settings, and begin anew. However, if this is necessary, any help on how to restore the iPod and back it up would be much appreciated.
Any help you can give is awesome.
    Thank you for your time.

Hey, I'm probably too late and you may have already solved it but here's a solution. In iTunes go to Edit then preferences and then click on reset dialog warnings. What happens is when you first sync your ipod, you receive a message saying something like transfer?and you've probably selected "Do not show this message again". I don't really know why but iTunes assumes that the apps on your iPod are already on your computer and therefore need no transferring.
After you've reset it, the same message should pop up about transferring. As long as you don't click don't show, you should be good to go.

  • ITunes 11.0.2 is forcing me to sync apps from my iPhone into my Mac AGAIN. This is the new version of iTunes so there is no option to uncheck syncing Apps- how do I stop it from copying apps into my Mac?

I'm using iTunes 11.0.2 on my Macbook Air running Lion, to sync with my iPhone 5. With this latest release of iTunes, there's no option to uncheck syncing of apps. For a while now, iTunes have been working fine- it didn't sync apps from my iPhone to my Mac... until this morning. I only have Podcasts sync checked and every day, I just plug in my iPhone and click Sync and it worked great- it only copied my podcasts to the phone.
Today, I did the same thing- downloaded new podcasts, plugged in my phone, and clicked Sync. It backed up my data, copied my podcasts, and THEN it starts to copy all the apps from my iPhone into my Mac. This is the first time it's doing this- I'm sure the team removed that feature from this latest iTunes and I think this is a bug. I unchecked the Apps checkbox from Library in Preferences- I click sync, and again it starts to sync all the apps, AND the Apps checkbox becomes checked again.
I've restarted iTunes many times and rebooted, didn't work.

I have the same problem on both my iPad and my iPhone and it also started with iTunes 10.0.2.

  • HT1386 iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.1 Mac OS 10.8 apps won't sync upon restore

Everytime I restore my iPhone 4 I can not sync apps to it.  I am running ios 5.1.1, max os 10.8, and am on ATT network.  No matter what I do I can not get the iphone to sync apps from itunes.  I backed up, transfered apps, authorized the computer, deleted and redownloaded apps, and NOTHING works.
What is going on with this?!  I've searched everywhere for help

I don't have this in front of me right now, but as I recall, when your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, you can click on the iPhone's icon on the left, then click on the Apps tab near the top right, and then choose your Sync Apps option.  Have you done that already?  And do all your apps appear in iTunes?

It says that my computer is not authorized to sync apps to my ipod. How do i authorize it?  It tells me "go to store>authorize my computer" But i cannot find this anywhere!

Open iTunes and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

  • How can I sync apps from Mac to iPhone and visa versa.

    Hi,
Firstly I'm not having any problems syncing apps to my iPhone.
I'm very OCD and would like to have it so that If I install an app onto my Mac, it sync to my iPhone. And then if I delete it from my Mac and plug my phone in to sync, it will delete it from my iPhone.
Basically I want my iMac to be the hub of the apps, so everything I see on my iMac will be on my phone.
Let me know if you have a solution for this!
    Tim

As far as installing is concerned, if you install an iPhone app on your Mac and sync your iPhone to your Mac using either USB or WiFi the app will be installed on your phone. You can also go (on the phone) to Settings/iTunes & App Store and turn on Automatic Downloads for apps. Then whenever you buy or download an app on your computer or another Apple device it will automatically be installed on your iPhone.
For uninstalling, there are 2 ways to uninstall; one is on the phone (which you said you don't want to do) and the other is to connect the phone to iTunes, click on it, then on Apps, and uncheck any apps you don't want on the phone, then sync.

  • Syncing apps only from mac to iphone

    Hello
I've gone though all my apps in itunes on my mac and deleted all the ones I no longer need.
I now have a tidy much smaller list.
I would like to sync this new list, and in doing so, remove any others from both my ipad and iphone.
The end goal is an identical list of apps across all three.
Problem is, I do not have a 'sync apps only' option. If I choose sync it starts copying across images, mail etc.
I have selected the iphone on the left, I go to apps, then I have whats on the iphone.
I just want to sync the list thats on my mac
Do I really have to export a list from itunes, then manually cross refer and delete one by one from the iphone to get a copy?
    Possible?
Any help much appreciated. Spent a good while searching the net, yet I do not have the 'sync apps' option.

  • I authorized 2 laptops to my iPhone 5 but one can only sync music while the other can only sync apps!

I have an iPhone 5 and I have authorized 2 laptops to sync with it.
The problem is I can only sync apps I have downloaded from one laptop while music from the other laptop. I can't sync music and apps to my iPhone from the same laptop.
    How do I solve this?
Note: The first laptop I synced with is also shared with my wife's iPhone 4.
    Thanks in advance.

you can only really sync your phone with one device, well strictly not true but its the better practice.
    first point, be careful here.
second, plug your iPhone into the first machine and check the settings related to synchronising with 'that' machine.
then do the same with the second.
you will find that one is setup to sync apps and the other to sync music. I'd recommend that you go to the one that has your music stored on it, get it to download all of your apps and use this machine as your main machine from now on.
Using two seperate machines must be confusing and could lead to you suddenly loosing all of you data if you sync completely with one machine that does contain everything you want!
