Authorized or not?

I was using iTunes on two computers--one Mac laptop, one PC.
I recently transferred all my files, including my iTunes library, to a new MacBook Pro.
When I first tried to play iTunes-purchased songs on the new Mac, I received a message telling me I had reached my five-computer limit. (Apparently, each upgrade of the operating system to my previous Mac counted as a new computer.)
I deauthorized the older Mac and authorized the new one.
That's where it gets interesting.
When I completed the authorization process on the new MacBook, I got a message telling me I now had one authorized computer. But when I try to play a protected song, the box telling me I have to authorize it pops up. When I try to do so, I get another message telling me I've reached the five-computer limit.
Same computer, two different messages.
I'm guessing I should wipe the slate clean with a "deauthorize all." But since that's a once-a-year option, I want to be sure.
Any suggestions?

*My Problem:*
An error message appeared that said I had 5 of 5 computers activated. Therefore, I couldn't listen to my purchased music, even though I really only have one computer authorized. (Note: each reformat=1 authorization)

In my own words.
This is where i found the answer. Basically open up itunes, Click on the store tab on the left, sign in. On the top pull down window, go to "store", then "view my account". If it asks you to type in your password, do so. Then click the view account button. You can de-authorize all 5 of your computers from here. Then once you de-authorize everything, goto the top pull down menu "store", then click on "authorize computer", then u should be g2g.

    The issues start if I try "Connect" from Hyper-V Manager in an attempt to use the console of any Guest. Each attempt fails with the above error. If I use an incorrect password, I get a different error: "The credentials that were used to connect
    to {Server FQDN} did not work. Please enter new credentials."
    Taking a look at the the event logs, I can see the session successfully authenticating to the Guest (4776 Credential validation and 4624 Logon), and the fact I get a different error if I enter an incorrect password show I get some way along the line. However
    if I take a look at the logs on the Host, however I get:

        This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the computer where access was attempted.
        The Subject fields indicate the account on the local system which requested the logon. This is most commonly a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.

    What’s your guest system platform, base on my experience that must be the not supported guest system issue, the generation 2 vm only support the Windows 8 or 8.1 platform.

  • IBooks Author does not open existing ibook

    I updated iBooks Author yesterday and saved an existing ibook on my Mac and USB drive. Today morning, the book is refusing to open, displaying a "invalid format" message. The file also apprears to have shrunk in size, from 250mb to 8kb.
    Any idea of what happened and how I can resolve this? Or would I have to re-do the whole thing?

    The short answer is that iBooks Author does not output a format that supports iPhone. Use Pages to generate an ePub file that supports iPhone, etc.

  • Certificate authority is not installed

    SBS 2011 std.
    In Fix My Network wizard I am getting 'certificate authority is not installed' and the wizard is unable to fix the problem. I have checked and Active Directory Certificate Services is installed under Roles.
    How can I fix this please?

    Looks like a corrupt package, please follow
    Uninstall the CA server role
    1. On the server that is running SBS 2011 Essentials, click  Start , point to Administrative Tools , and then click Server Manager .
    2. Right-click Roles , and then select Remove Roles .
    3. On the Before You Begin page, click Next .
    4. Click to clear the Active Directory Certificate Services check box, and then click Next .
    5. On the Confirm Removal Selections page, click Remove .
    6. Click Close , and then restart the server.
    7. After the server restarts, click Close when you are prompted by a message that reads
    Removal Succeeded.
    Reinstall the CA server role
    1. On the server, click Start , point to Administrative Tools , and then click Server Manager .
    2. In the Roles Summary section, click Add Roles .
    3. On the Before You Begin page, click Next .
    4. On the Server Roles page, select Active Directory Certificate Services , and then click Next .
    5. On the Introduction to Active Directory Certificate Services page, click Next .
    6. On the Select Role Services page, select Certification Authority and Certification Authority Web Enrollment , and then click Next .
    7. On the Specify Setup Type page, select Standalone , and then click Next .
    8. On the Specify CA Type page, select Root CA , and then click Next .
    9. On the Set Up Private Key page, select Use existing private key , select Select a certificate and use its associated private key option, and then click Next .
    10. On the Select Existing Certificate page, select the <Server_Name> -CA certificate, and then click Next .
    Note In this certificate name item, < Server_Name> is the name of the destination server.
    11. On the Configure Certificate Database page, accept the default locations, and then click Next .
    12. Confirm your selections, and then click Install .
    13. When the wizard is finished, click Close , and then restart the server.
    14. At an elevated command prompt, run the following commands:
    • CertUtil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriod Years
    • CertUtil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriodUnits 30
    Verify the installation
    1. Click Start , point to Administrative Tools , and then click Certification Authority .
    2. Right-click the server name, and then click Properties .
    3. Click the Extensions tab.
    4. In the list that is displayed, click <a href="http:///CertEnroll/<CaName><CRLNAMESUFFIX><DELTACRLALLOWED>.crl">http://<ServerDNSName>/CertEnroll/<CaName><CRLNAMESUFFIX><DELTACRLALLOWED>.crl .
    5. Make sure that the following options are selected:
    • Include in CRLs. Clients use this to find the Delta CRL location .
    • Include in the CDP extension of issued certificates .
    6. Click OK to save your changes.
    7. When you are asked to restart Active Directory Certificate Services, click Yes .
    8. Close the Certification Authority screen.
    Add the server and the clients to the Dashboard
    1. Locate the following folder: C:\Program Files\Windows Server\Bin\ .
    2. Right-click the Wsspowershell.exe file, and then click Run As Administrator .
    Note A new window that runs PowerShell opens.
    3. In the PowerShell windows, type Add-WssLocalMachinecert .

  • Certificate Authority is not being seen by windows server 2003 machines

    We recently installed a certificate authority using windows server 2008 r2. There was an old certificate authority that had went bad and the role could not be uninstalled on the bad server. The new certificate authority works with windows 2008 machines but
    does not work with server 2003 machines. Mainly trying to get the domain controller certificate. At first it was stating that the rpc was unavailable for the CA. I tried to delete the remnants under the sites and services role of the old server. The error
    now it states that it can not find a certificate authority. As stated above the newer machines (Server 2008)  can see the certificate authority and request certificates but older machines cant. Any assistance on what to do next will be greatly appreciated.

    It is possible to change the hash algorithm a CA uses  to support XP and 2003 "out of the box" without the hotfix.
    But it would be better to have two CAs in parallel - one using a more modern algorithm and a CA supporting a "legacy" algorithm - and the latter should only be used as long as there are clients that aren't able to validate the other algorithms.
    On the CA, start regedit and locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\CertSvc\Configuration\<Your CA>\CSP
    I am assuming that the Software CNG provider is used with SHA256 or higher (not with SHA1).
    Change CNGHashAlgorithm to SHA1 and restart the CA service.
    The setting can be reverted by changing the value back. All certificates and all CRLs signed by this CA will use the new hash algorithm after the restart.

    i currently own two apple laptops and want to be able to play my music that i purchased on one, on the other, as well. i have followed the instructions in other posts that tell me to 1, authorize the new computer, which i have done, and 2, if that works to go into a folder on my drive and delete it out to start fresh, which i have done, as well. however, when i click on the purchased songs, it is still telling me i need to authorize my computer. the computer, as i said, is already authorized.
    can anyone help with this?

    I'm not sure I understand your second step. Couldn't you use the Home Sharing feature in iTunes 9 to accomplish this, as long as it's enabled for each? Both computers should be authorized with the same iTunes Store account, as you've done.

  • Itunes is telling me my computer is not authorized and not accepting apple ID

    Recently, I've had problems with itunes popping up a message saying that the song I am trying to play (on my mac) is not accessible because this computer is not authorized.  Then, the apple id that pops up has a misspelling in it and entering the correct password and correction to the misspelling, it still does not work.  Then, I tried deauthorizing the entire computer and reauthorizing it.  Says it is authorized, however, still no access to that song.  Oddly, the help menu that pops up tells you about deauthorizing/authorizing and such, but if you click on any other area of the help menu it is "not currently available".  Makes me suspicious that I have some malware thing.  Paranoid?  Can anyone help?

    Sorry, I don't have a response. I just wanted to say that I have the exact same problem. It started about a week ago and a number of songs that I've purchased have been deleted from my ipod when I sync.
    It's very frustrating.

    I have an Ibooks author file that will not open.  How can I open the file to edit it?

    In that case, if the file isn't locked and/or owned by another user, and you don't see any errors when trying to access it, all I can imagine is that it is somehow broken/corrupted.
    If you don't have a backup to try instead, you may want to contact Apple for iBA support and see if they can help....that, or walk your MB into the nearest Apple Store and see what they think.

    I haven't heard of anyone having issues like this with iBooks Author, sorry.
    You may want to run Disk Utilty and check drive health and repair permissions to see if any issues turn up there. Be sure you have significant free space on ypur harddrive.
    Disable any 3rd party widgets that may not be fully compatible with Lion and don't use any betas.

  • Ibooks author file not accepted by itunes producer

    I have completed a book with an Ibooks author file size of 830MB; it is not being accepted by itunes Producer for upload. Do I need to export it to IBooks format? I did this export but the resulting file is just 77MB. I did not try to upload it via Itunes Producer as it seems to small to be correct. ????????

    Thanks this helped but not enough. I was trying to feed the I books author file directly. So, i went to File/publish and created a file labeled ITMSP. Then went back to the Publisher wizard. I was unable to load the ITMSP file but the Publication window in ITUNES Producer has the Ibook file I exported from IBA in it. I continued through the wizzard but chose not enter a target audience. When I got to the end and clicked on the button to send to Apple it went through a verification process and flagged the lack of target audience. So I went back and entered 13 and up. But the same error keeps occuring and I can not proceed. Any ideas on the following
    1. How I clear the error message now that I have entered the right data
    2.Is the Ibooks export the file that should show in the produce window, or should it be the ITMSP file that wont load there?

  • ITune said already 5 PC authorized but NOT!!!

    Got a new iPhone 3GS and tried to sync with my home PC (did once before). iTunes(9.2) didn't give me sync options this time although i could see my iPhone under DEVICES folder. I looked around and found "Authorize PC..." menu under "apple store" and clicked, but it told me already authorized 5 PC. It's NOT POSSIBLE. I've owned this iPhone for just 1 week, created my apple id after got my phone, have downloaded and installed iTunes ONLY on my home PC. I checked my account detail in iTunes and "Computer Authorisations" line says "One machine is authorized to ...", which is CORRECT.
    Suggestions please.

    I know what you mean, i know what I can do (to de-authorize all PC from iTunes) if i DO have authorized more 5 PC. But Apple Account Information says, "One machine is authorized to play ..." there fore the "de-authorize all" button doesn't show up. However, when i tried to authorize my only ever used PC, iTunes told me that I cannot!!! The information given to me are inconsistent at all. iTunes' database must be stuffed.

    Not working on what - the iPad or the iBooks on the mac? the auto play for keynotes (and so probably also HTML widgets) function requires iBooks v1.1, which only available for Yosemite. Mavericks only goes up to v1.01. On an iPad, I think it requires iOS8.

  • Apple iBooks Author is not a print production tool-

    I was really impressed with Apple's release of iBooks Author App and I'm sure I will get a secondary drive to be bootable with Lion so that I can install this new free app, that only runs in Mac OS X Lion.  But, as long as I am producing books for the printing press, before they go to eReader, InDesign will have to be my tool of choise so that all of my work that was put into the book production can be repurposed to the e-reader version.

In most cases you aren't going to get haute cuisine out of Dreamweaver, that's where your IDE's and scripting languages shine.
    iBooks author is essential the same thing as Microsoft Publisher, but built exclusively for getting content into Apple's iBooks2 and iTunes U applications. One can build a bunch of equity in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF, images and spit them into Publisher or iBooks Author with minimum reformatting and maintain the magic that those applications have.
    InDesign allows you to leverage graphical equity from existing print layouts and publish to a few more output directions. Getting existing Powerpoints, Excel documents, Word Documents misused as layouts and the like is not something one can easily accomplish in InDesign. You can get your InDesign documents wrapped into Adobe's viewer and push out to Android, iOS and other platforms provided you pay Adobe either a grip of cash or a small amount of cash every time you want the document updated.
    For the everyday student, professor, office worker or anybody who doesn't already have a strong investment in Adobe and InDesign it is a no brainer to go the iBooks Author route. Apple's iPad and iOS have a commanding lead in marketshare and a staggering lead in revenue spent on content per device. Many people aren't putting effort forth on Android or other devices still (though the Kindle Fire may change that). For the purpose of taking something that is free, publishing for free to the over 40 million devices out there iBooks is a much more attractive route for many than Zinio, Woodwing, DPS, paying a developer.
