Authorized songs

My issue with authorization is I get the message with music
that was copied from cd's(the round plastic disc) I own or borrowed and imported via my laptop. This only started after I got my third new one from Ipod(the other 2 died and apple replaced).

I had a similar problem. I am leaving for college and all the songs and tv shows I bought under my dads account, I wanted to still use but under my own account. Unfortunately, there is no solution for this. It has to be authorized to play the songs. What you can do, is make a few changes. If you can get to her computer, sign in under your name, authorize the computer. Then sign out, and let her sign into iTunes under her new name. She can play your songs, and when she buys, it will be on her account. Then change your iTunes password. She will be able to play the songs, but not be able to log back into the iTunes store to purchase on your account.

  • Authorizing Songs for an Apple Account that is no longer recognized

I have many songs that I've purchased from iTunes that are no longer allowed to play because the user is not authorized by my computer. I am the user but the account is one that expired about three years ago due to my moving and other life-changing events.
How do I authorize songs in iTunes that that I purchased through an Account Name that no longer exists in iTunes or on .Mac?

I'll join you in being stuck here.
In a period of three months, I have purchased two new MBP laptops, moved (losing my cable modem ISP and email address, which was my old Apple ID), and Apple launched MobileMe.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, probably with the MobileMe launch, I changed my Apple ID to my .Mac email address.
Now my 1,000+ purchased tunes cannot be authorized on one of the new computers, since they are locked to my OLD and now defunct Apple ID.
Apple's web site won't let me changed my Apple ID on the "My Info" page:
*You cannot change this Apple ID*
*because it is tied to a MobileMe account*
*and/or an iChat ID. To create a new*
    *Apple ID, please click here.*
Catch 22 here we are... If you see a reply to this thread without the "1" on the end of my name, that'll mean I have my old account back!

  • Authorizing songs to burn did not help

I re-authorized some songs on my playlist of purchased songs, some bought from a defunct email, but though the message told me authorization was successful, when i clicked BURN the same songs were listed as unauthorized. this occurred several times. Only a few songs purchased with new email address burned to disc. But i changed email and password on all of them, with 'success' message.

Try ALL of the steps listed in the troubleshooting article from which you posted your question.

  • Trouble Authorizing Songs

Hello! I am trying to authorize songs purchased with an old old email account that is closed. The option of having a "verification" email sent doesn't work, and when I answer the security questions, it won't accept one of the answers which I absolutely know is correct. When I try to authorize using my current Apple ID, it says "this computer is already authorized" but I still can't play the songs? Help! Please!

  • Authorizing Songs

I have just got a new laptop and so i had to download itunes onto it, but i didnt know how to get my music from my old itunes onto my laptop. So i put all the music onto a memory stick and imported it. However there was a message saying i am not authorized to play 100 songs on this computer. So i clicked ok and now when i try and play one of those songs i have to enter my APPLE ID, but it still doesnt do it. I had to do it about 10 times for one song to work. Is there any way of authorizing every song at once or do i just have to do it for each song? Thanks

You can't burn iTunes Music Store songs with Toast anymore. You will have to use iTunes for that. iTunes 6 requires Quicktime 7.0.3 for other applications(iLife) to access iTunes Music Store songs. And Toast hasn't(and won't) update Toast to work with Quicktime 7 and iTunes Music Store files.
If your CD burner is not recognized by iTunes, try downloading Patchburn.

  • Authorizing song when my  computer is already authorized.

  • Authorizing song on new computer

    Hi
I bought a couple of songs on my old computer (with another apple id cause I move from one country to another). But at the time, I didn't even know that I was supposed to deauthorize them...
Now on my new PC, it won't let me authorize the old songs. How can I do that??
I mean, when I click on the song and it tells me that it's not authorized, it's my old apple ID that appears and it seems that it has been deleted from their databae... since it's not recognized... And when I enter instead my new ID it tells me that I successfully authorize the song (1 out of 5 comps) on this computer. And yet, when I click again to play it, it tells me that it's not authorized, and again appears my old id to authorize it...
If anybody has had the same issues, please let me know how to solve this. It's not a big a deal since it's just 2 songs actually but still, I would like to listen to what I bought, even if it was a year ago...
    Thanx a lot

I most certainly did not get the song from someone else's iPod and I most certainly did not get the song from someone else's account or even someone else's computer. Both of these options are impossible. I can go into more detail about why this is impossible and why I'm so sure if you like but suffice it to say now, no, it's not possible.
It is possible that I purchased the song from some another source, other than Apple iTunes. But, if that be the case, why would it have an authorization problem?

  • Authorizing songs to my itunes not working

My friend sent me an email with songs attached to it which she purchased from iTunes. I have tried authorizing it into my iTunes using her password and it says the download was succsessful, but when I go to play the song, another window pops-up saying I have to authorize it again. It keeps doing this. Anyone have an idea how i can download the songs to my itunes without having to re-enter the password again and again?

What worked for me was to uninstall from the control panel in this order: Thanks to another post on this board... this worked... link to the discussion here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5817584?tstart=0
    ITunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
I had problems uninstalling Apple Mobile Support, I had to repair it first before I could uninstall it. You will have to restart the computer after all the uninstalls, and before reinstalling ITunes. I reinstalled ITunes from the Apple website afterwards (fresh download) ... everything works for me now that I have done this.

  • Itunes reset itself- authorized songs now unauth and says 5 of 5. why?

i bought music from itunes store w/ a gift card from xmas. my power cord got accidentally unplugged and my laptop died. when i rebooted, my itunes had reset. i had to reimport the whole library, and now songs that were once authorized on my machine are now coming up that all 5 of 5 are authorized- even tho this machine is one of the 5!
somehow, in the mix, the first album i bought seems to have dissapeared (i have over 150 gigs of music, not sure what happened. just recently noticed it was gone). When i go to 'purchased music' it only remembers what i've bought since i had itunes crap itself and reset.
    what gives?
itunes music purchasing really *** sometimes.

When you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option once a year to deauthorise them all in one go and start over:
About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93014
You can delete your "Purchased" playlist and create a new Smart Playlist and set as rule:
    Kind - contains - protected
This playlist then will contain all your purchases and always will be up-to-date.
When you make a new purchase, your 'Purchased' playlist appears again, you can then add your previous purchased music to it.
Although the 'Purchased' playlist is a special one, it behaves like a normal playlist and you can in fact add and remove anything.

  • Authority Song has become unauthorized

I have a Second Generation Nano and I have, and always have had, only one computer that has anything to do with the I-Pod and my I-Tunes library. I recently purchased some songs from the I-Tunes store, but as I was trying today to drag them from my library into my I-Pod I got the message, for more than one song, that this computer wasn't "authorized" for the song (or vice versa). I vaguely remember authorizing it when I got the computer and I suppose that some how it has become "deauthorized." I have seen answers with people talking about how to resolve this if there is more than one possible authorized account - but that isn't my situation. Please help. Thanks

Shop where you get the best convenience, selection, service and price. You can buy MP3s from any online music retailer and add them to your iTunes library.

  • Authorizing songs in iTunes after performing an erase and install

    Hi
This one should be a simple one for someone to solve.
I'm running Panther 10.3.9 - I've had to perform a 'erase and install', and now all the tunes I'ved purchased from iTunes are not authorised to play.
I understand this is because my iTunes account thinks my reformatted machine is 'new' but how can I get around this as I dont want to add another 'authorized machine' to my list on my iTunes account.
    Anyone got any ideas?!
    Jenny

If you have authorized five machines(the maximum) to play purchased music, you will be given the chance to deauthorize all the computers from your Account Information screen; otherwise, use this form to send a message to the people who can deauthorize your old system.

  • Problem authorizing songs bought with old email

I have songs that I bought when my Apple ID was associated with a different email address. This appears to have caused a problem in that I can't transfer these songs onto new iPods or iPhones. What can I do to fix this problem?

Has anyone answered you?  I find nothing on the site, thanks drhwk.

  • Authorizing songs on new computer

I just bought a new Mac. I'm in the process of getting my iTunes all set up on my new Mac and it's not letting me play a certain song. It's asking me to authorize it by using my Apple name and password. I have already done this with several other songs that I purchased using my old computer. Why is Apple making it so difficult? The authorization process "worked" (I think) on some of the other songs that Apple made me go through the process on. I understand that they have to be careful not to let people share copywrited materials. But, I am not sharing anything. I'm simply transfering music from my old computer to my new computer. I am the owner of the music (since I bought it). Why is it not letting me play this one particular song?

I most certainly did not get the song from someone else's iPod and I most certainly did not get the song from someone else's account or even someone else's computer. Both of these options are impossible. I can go into more detail about why this is impossible and why I'm so sure if you like but suffice it to say now, no, it's not possible.

Content purchased from one iTunes Store account can't be transferred to another; it can only be redownloaded under the new account. Click here and fill out the form to request a free redownload.
