Authorizing a Kobo e-reader for Adobe Digital Editions

I am having trouble authorizing my Kobo e-reader for Adobe Digital Editions. As a result, I am unable to drag and drop epub files from my computer to my Kobo device. I have an Adobe ID, but when I attempt to complete the authorization process for my device, I receive a message stating "You can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or device, Please try again."   I am not aware that I previously authorized and other computer or device. Any suggestions?

I contacted Adobe Customer Service about the problem and the service representative said it was a "technical question" and could be addressed by the Forum participants, which, according to the Adobe website, include "experts".

  • Reader for Adobe Digital Editions 3.0

I currently use Adobe Digital Editions 3.0 in order to read epub books from my local library. Is there an add in that will read the book (audio) to allow a visually impaired person to listen to the book? If so I need instructions to make it work.  Thanks!!

I would like to apologize for my tardiness, a Lady that stole my heart 50 years ago finished her  job and went ahead of me to get our next place ready.  I am so lost without her.  I finally realized how upset she's going to be for me not helping or at least pitching in, This is my first evening back.

  • How do I stop Adobe Reader X from reading documents meant for Adobe Digital Editions?

I  was trying to download via  Sample e-Book Library, just to check if my Adobe Digital Editions was working properly.
Turns out, PDFs / Urls are interrrupted by Adobe Reader X.
Even though  Adobe Reader X is unable to read it, or as it  keeps telling me: "Adobe reader could not open URLLINK.acsm because it is either not a supported file type, or because the file has been damaged"
Any suggestions to how I could abort Adobe Reader X from automatically read documents meant for Adobe Digital Editions?

    It's Windows 8.
Turns out the problem was acsm.files preconfigured to be opened in Adobe Reader. The solution was to right click on the file(s) in Downloads, and then reconfigure  it through the option "open as/in ..."
and somehow give the correct adress, through Computer:/ C and so on,  to the  Adobe Digital Editions.

Nope, I doubt it.  As I said:
I disabled Aero theme, checked font scaling was 100% and rebooted Windows in between all of the steps to no avail.
I've been reading a lot around this and it seems the arrow key problem is a red herring; I think it's just some kind of terminal preferences corruption.

  • Where is the user manual for Adobe Digital Editions?

Where is the user manual for Adobe Digital Editions?

Thanks to you both for your replies.
I should have explained that I have already seen 'Getting Started with Adobe Digital Editions', an epub document that comes with the software.  It is only nine pages long, more of a quick guide than a manual. I had expected that there would be more to the software than is covered there.  Perhaps there isn't.  (To explain a little further: I was looking for a way to cause epub pages to print or display like the pages of the original book, but couldn't find anything about printing beyond.  That feature is present in the Bluefire Reader for iOS devices.  I tried printing a particular page using Ctrl+P and specifying the page number.  The page printed, but it was spread over two sheets of A4 paper and the page number was not printed.)

  • How to add DRM protection to an EPUB so it can only be read with Adobe Digital Editions?

I wish to add DRM protection to our EPUBS and PDF's so that they can only be read using Adobe Digital Editions, so that we can control licensing.

    Hi John,
At present, the only places you can buy copy-protected ebooks that are suitable for the Sony Reader are from Sony's own ebook store and from Borders.com. The books you buy from eBooks.com won't work on the Sony Reader.
Please contact our support team direct at help (at) ebooks.com, and tell them what's happened, and they'll be able to help you out.

  • Cant autorise my pc for Adobe Digital Edition.

Cant autorise my second pc with my Adobe ID for Adobe Digital Edition. I just have Adobe Digital Edition an my Netbook (which i dont use anymore) and Smartphone. Now i wanted to read my eBooks on my main Computer and i got an error when i try to autorise my eBookReader. Can anyone activate this Pc for my Adobe Digital Edition?

OK, let's try to sort this out.
The first thing is that ADE does not support Smartphones.  So you can't
download an ebook to ADE and transfer it to your Smartphone.  You cannot
download an ebook from the Smartphone to ADE either.  The operating systems
are not compatible, so the programs (like ADE) don't work together.  You
must have downloaded the ebooks to your Smartphone by some other method.
The next thing is that Adobe keeps track of ADE user ID's on its servers.
If you have used an ID before, then Adobe will give you the message that it
is in use when you try to use your PC.  You can change this.  Here is how
    to try:
Open ADE and then press the CNTLSHIFTD keys at the same time.  ADE will
respond.  Then, close ADE.  Now open ADE again and it should ask you to
authorize.  Type in the user ID you want to use, and ADE should tell you
that it is accepted.  Now you should be able to download an ebook to your
computer with the ID you want to use .  But keep in mind that ADE will not
let you use any other ebooks that it has stored if they do not have this
ID.  You can go back and forth between ID's by using this method, however,
so you can get back to the other ebooks.
    I hope this helps!

3-4 tries today on Adobe website and no results.

If you are on Vista, see the announcement at the top of the forum,
    which points to http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/installing-digital-editions -20-windows.html
Try an older version (1.7.2) of ADE, especially if you are on XP.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • How to authorize ebook reader in Adobe Digital Editions?

I downloaded Adobe Digital Editions from the website so that I can borrow ebooks via the public library system.  I was able to authorize my computer, but can't figure out how to authorize by ebook reader (Kobo Touch) - without authorizing the device, I can't transfer the ebooks from my Mac to the Kobo Touch.  Any information on how to authorize the ebook reader would be appreciated!

Assuming your reader is supported you need to have it connected via usb and turned on prior to launching Adobe Digital Editions.  Once you launch Adobe Digital Editions it will ask to authorize your device.
If you have additional questions please post your inquiry to the Adobe Digital Editions forum.

  • Ebooks from Sony PC Reader to Adobe Digital Editions

I have a Sony PRS-T1. I also have Adobe Digital Editions installed on my computer. My Husband has a Kobo. When I purchase ebooks from various book stores they are automatically put into Sony PC Reader. When my husband wants ro read these books, I add them to ADE and then drop them onto his ereader (which appears as a book shelf). Recently when I have done this he has been unable to open the ebook on his device. Now I am noticing that when I try to put the ebook onto ADE, it gives me an error message that the "document is licensed for a different device". How do I fix this?
My understanding is that I can add the book to up to 6 devices, I am just trying to add it to a second device, and this has worked perfectly in the past????
Is there any way to avoid using Sony PC Reader ( I don't like it) and just use ADE to up load ebooks from the retailer and then to my Sony and the Kobo???

Unfortunately, the error comes from ADE reading the ID file of the ebooks
and then comparing it to the current ID.  That's the only time the error is
generated.  And it's possible that something has screwed up due to a change
    that seemed unrelated.
Let's take this a step further.
If something 'changed' recently, did you log into the Sony Reader Store in
that time frame?  Sony has updated their software, and that can occur
    without you seeing anything happening.
Have you been able to open any of the affected ebooks before?  Where did
you download them from - and if it was Sony Reader Store, did you put them
    into the Reader library?
Did you know that Sony tells us the PRS-T1 is not supported under ADE,
while ADE says it is?  I don't know how to rectify that.
Did you register the T1 with Sony using your current Adobe ID? (you
probably did but I had to ask)
Often, I forget a detail that, when I remember it, gives me the key to the
answer.  I've been doing that for a number of years, but my wife doesn't
give me credit for any of them.

  • How can i reset authorizations for Adobe Digital Editions in old devices?

I need to reset all authorizations (except in my Mac) in old devices of Adobe Digital Editions? Some malfunction, i lost others. I need to clean permissions to get new devices.
    Thanks.
Necesito retirar las autorizaciones en viejos dispositivos de Adobe Digital Editions, pues algunos no funcionan ya y otros los perdí, para poder usarlas en nuevos dispositivos.
    Gracias.

You cannot, nor do you need to.
You can have up to 5 computers authorized.  When you reach 5, you can deauthorize all.
