Authorizing a purchased song in iTunes from a "buy album" purchase

Tonight, I purchased an album using the "buy album" option. One song doesn't play, and I'm asked to authorize my computer. When I do that, it still won't play. How can I fix this?

Also, when things like this happen, is there a way I can be reimbursed for the useless download? Or am I simply expected to cross my fingers and hope that you folks have the answer?
While I hope to reclaim the song I purchased, this has totally turned me off of the whole iTunes program. Product quality is questionable, and customer service does not exist.
This would be the equivalent of going to Target, buying a shirt, coming home, realizing it has a hole in it, and taking it back to the store. And at the store, they tell you, "We're not going to give you your money back. And we're also not going to give you another shirt to replace the one you paid for. What we're going to do is we're going to send you to that room over there filled with several million people, all screaming about their problems, and hopefully you bump into someone who knows how to fix your shirt. Also, don't ever try to contact us again. Thank you."

    It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
    If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

  • Purchase song on iTunes from 5c phone but can't play song on phone or mac

    Purchased song on ITunes and entered correct apple id.  song downloaded to iPhone 5C.  Phone then synced with MacPro laptop on OS Mavericks latest version.  This song will not play on phone or laptop.  Get Info shows correct Apple ID.  Whenever I try to play this song, get message this song is not authorized for this computer.  I sign same Apple ID with correct password and get message Computer already authorized.  When I click to play on same song again, get same message this song is not authorized for this computer.  Song will not play on phone either.  Just skips to next available song to play.

    What is the exact text of the error dialog?
    If I understand you correctly you are saying that you and your wife both use the same MacMini with seperate User Accounts. You each have your own iTunes Store Apple IDs. This could be a problem. One computer can only be associated with an Apple ID once every 90 days. This applies to using iTunes Match, automatic downloads and downloading past purchases. See this Apple KB article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Since you apparently had the MacMini associated to your Apple ID for iTunes Match, if your wife attempted to re-download anything from her purchase history she would have been prompted to associate the computer with her Apple ID, which it sounds like she did. At this time you must wait the 90 days before you may re-associate the MacMini with your Apple ID.

  • Cant upload new songs in iTunes from new computer onto iPhone 3gs

    How do I upload new songs in my new iTunes from my mac to my iphone 3gs WITHOUT deleting or replacing all the old songs? My old computer crashed and I have no way of accessing those old songs but I dont want to loose all 509 songs. some were burnt from CDs i no longer have some were purchased through iTunes etc...help please! i really like my old music and just want to update it.

    By 'rebooted' do you mean that you only rebooted it, or that you reinstalled its software ?
    If rebooted then aare the songs still on your computer, just not in iTunes - by default your iTunes library is stored under :
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
    Windows Vista: \Users\username\Music\iTunes
    Windows 7 and Windows 8: \Users\username\My Music\iTunes
    If it's there then File > Add To Library in iTunes should let you add it back.
    If not then you should be able to copy iTunes purchases (including apps, films etc) back from your phone via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
    For non-iTunes purchases (and for purchases if need be) there are some programs listed half-way down this page which can copy them back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
    Then add them to iTunes via File > Add To Library
    If iTunes thinks that you are trying to sync the phone to a new computer : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • Adding multiple songs to iTunes from the Finder

    The way I usually add songs to iTunes is to select multiple songs at once from the Finder and then add them all to iTunes. Now in Lion when I have two or more items selected it only adds and opens one of them instead of copying all of them to the iTunes folder. How do I add them all from the Finder into iTunes to save me some time.
    Also the default file opener for .m4a, .mp3 etc. was changed to Audacity for no reason when I upgraded to Lion. I had to manually change it back to iTunes.

    Can you do it the other way?
    Open iTunes and on the File menu is Add to Library where you can choose which ones to import.
    Regards,

  • Can't import songs to iTunes from CD

    I have the same "popular" problem. I can't rip music from a cd directly to iTunes. iTunes doesn't see the cd on the cd rom drive. When I manually open the cd on iTunes through "my computer" than all it lists is track numbers. It is also not able to connect to the internet to get the titles, even though my internet connection is fine.
    I am able to rip the cd's by using windows media player, no problem. Then I can import them to iTunes from there, no problem!
    All my hardware drivers etc. are updated with their latest versions. It really seems like an iTunes compatibility issue. I can't beleive Apple is not aware of this problem and hasn't done anything about it!!
    Here is my cd diagnostics data, maybe "toonz" or another samaritan can help!! Pleeaaasse it' very annoying. Thanks in advance!!!

    Are these CDs you burned yourself or are the commercial CDs? To get the information on commercial CDs, iTunes connects to an online database so make sure you are connected to the internet when you import. You also have to be connected to use the "Get CD track names" function. If you made the CDs then the track names will be seen as Track 01, Track 02 etc. and the information has to be keyed in again by hand: See if this helps explain things a bit better than I have: How iTunes remembers Audio CDs

  • Stop iTunes from combining multiple albums into one? Or easily reordering tracks once combined?

    I'm trying to put a 4-cd compilation of b-sides into iTunes, but iTunes is combining them into ONE huge album. This is only a problem because there are now four Track 1s, four Track 2s, etc. What is the easiest way to fix this? I do NOT want to go through track by track changing them to the correct numerical order. :/ AN help?

    Hi Mhwal.  I think this may help you.
    Here's a test for you to try.
    Make sure your iTunes library is updated with your edited album names;
    Find a song on your iPhone where the album name is incorrect;
    Delete the song from your iPhone;
    On your iPhone go to "Settings>iTunes & App Store" and tap your Apple ID (highlighted in blue).
    Tap "Sign Out";
    Go back to your iTunes library and select the song/album that you want back on your iPhone;
    The iPhone should now show your edited album tag;
    Once your done you can sign back to "Settings>iTunes & App Store" and sign back in.  Your edits will hold.
    In addition, this also works with artist pictures.  I did not like the stock images iTunes associated with my artists - I wanted album art instead.  After you sign out of your Apple ID, when you move a song/album from your iTunes library to your iPhone the FIRST album you move over will be associated with that artist.
    For example, I have seven AC/DC albums but I want the cover of "Back in Black" to be associated with AC/DC on my iPhone's artist listing.  After I've signed out of my Apple ID, I transfer "Back in Black" to my iPhone and then the other six albums in any order.  "Back in Black" will be the album picture associated with AC/DC on the artist page.
    Just remember, after your changes you can sign back into iTunes through "Settings>iTunes & App Store" and your changes to edited albums and artist cover art should hold.
    I hope this helps!

  • How can i prevent itunes from splitting individual albums into multiple albums?

    How do prevent itunes from splitting albums with various artists into multiple albums?
    Thanks for your help!

    It's probably better to put Various Artists into the Album Artist box rather than just "various". Make sure it's the Album Artist field though. In addition, you need to mark the album as a compilation. When setting the complete album, the Part of a compilation is on a drop-down menu on the File/Get Info/Options tab:
    but if changing just one song, it's a tick-box on the Info tab:
    and needless to say, the album name must be exactly the same for each track.

  • Is there someway to keep iTunes from splitting my albums apart?

    ITunes keeps breaking up my albums in the music window. For example, I have "The Blessed Hellride" album by "Blach Label Society". One song< "Stillborn" features Ozzy Osbourne. In the finder that song is in "The Blessed Hellride" folder. But in the iTunes window that song is separated from the rest of "The Blessed Hellride" album. and to make matters worse it sticks another "Black Label Society" album between the rest of "The Blessed Hellride" album and that song. Is there some waqy that I can get iTunes to understand that I want my music all put together by album in the music window? It's done it with other albums that had several guest stars and split them up all over the place but I don't have that music with me ( It's on my G5 but I don"t have access to that right now.).
    Does anybody have any ideas?

    I dont recomend overwriting the actual "Artist" information on various artist type albums.
    What you want to do instead is select all the songs of the album and then open info (command+i) and then go to the "Sorting" tab and write in the Artist info you want iTunes to sort your music as.
    This is the best way, it overides what the artist is actually listed as and places the album then where it would go based on the custom sort by name.
    If you have a bunch of albums by The Beatles for instance and a few solo albums by Paul or John, and would prefer all the "Beatles" together, you can simply change the "sort by" info for Paul and John's albums to "The Beatles"  which will not overwrite the ablum artist name (they Remain Paul McCartney, John Lennon etc), but they will be alphabetically placedin with the Beatles as if the artist names were replaced to "The Beatles"
    Another very useful example would be if you have a number of classical pieces of music on say, Beethoven.
    Well, most Classical albums list the conductor or orcistra playing the music rather the composer. By changing all the sort by artist info to "Beethoven" it maintains all the original artist info, and places together all of the "Beethoven" albums for you.
    I cant express enough how important and helpful this option is in iTunes - and how few people are aware of it!

  • Upgraded to latest iTunes & now cant buy albums!

    I can purchase single tracks but cant buy albums. I forces me to billing info saying 'account has changed' go in there, update switch card with CCV numbers click OK but no download starts. So select buy again and the billing screen comes up again.
    Annoying or what, cash ready, 2 albums to buy, DOESN'T WORK.

    This ties into another post about the 'authorisation loop' looks like MANY people are getting this after update to latest Itunes.
    I guess Apple will loose sales, as people get fed up with the constant loop and will give up....like me.

  • Why can't I download and play songs on iTunes from iCloud if I purchased Match?

    I want to play songs on my desktop from iTunes.  However, I can't click on the cloud symbol and download them onto my PC...I just get a "!" out to the left of the song.  I have no problem downloading the songs from the cloud and playing them on my iPhone.

    A little more background.  I've had iTunes Match for well over a year and I didn't have this issue until just recently.  Things that have changed recently:
    I got a new iPhone (not my choice...company move).  I purchased a lot of my old music on the old iPhone.  The new iPhone has 8GB storage.  The old iPhone had 16GB of storage.  I had 13GB on the old phone.  A lot of stuff, therefore, didn't transfer to the new phone after backup.  However, keep in mind, it's not just the music that I purchased on the old iPhone that is "greyed out" and unavailable, it's music that I have stored on my personal lap top at home, too.  Also please keep in mind that some of the music that I purchased on my old iPhone *is* playable/available on my desktop.
    I recently renewed iTunes Match.
    I don't knowingly have any music stored on the HDD of the computer in question, it is my work computer (i.e. I have never purposely downloaded a song or purchased a song on my work computer).  The big question here is *why* can I download music from the cloud and play it on my new iPhone but can't download the very same song and play it on my work computer via iTunes?  There are cloud symbols beside the songs on both devices...when I click on the cloud symbol on my iPhone, it downloads it or streams it if I click play...can't do either on iTunes on my desktop for the same exact song.
