Authorizing Computer - Had Issue with iTunes 9.0.?

I had an issue with iTunes. I can't remember which version it was. I think it was 9.0.(?). I can't remember the last digit. Anyway, the issue was, when I went to sync my iPod nano, an error message came up. It said that the computer wasn't authorized to play music purchased from my account. When I went to authorize, an error message read "We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (-42408).
Basically it appeared that my computer wasn't authorized to play purchases made with my account, which I find odd, since I've had this MacBook for awhile now (at least 2 or 3 years). However, when I upgraded to iTunes 9.1, this resolved the issue, at least for now. Has anyone else had this problem?

Is the usb issue the same for Intel HM55 Chipset? That's what I have in my brandnew Gateway 64 bit laptop running windows 7 and I can't seem to sync my brand new iphone 4 to my itunes either? I get the same random errors 8 mins into syncing? I'm not sure how uninstalling and reinstalling itunes will help me when I just installed the most current version of itunes last night unless itunes just does not install correctly the first time? I've updated my Apple usb drivers and everything? If anyone has some experience like this and a possible resolution I'm willing to try anything that sounds intelligent!

  • New Computer --- Major Issues with iTunes Acct

I recently purchased a new pc.  Have had an iTunes account for many years with 3-4 different iPhones.  I copied my iTunes files from the old computer (like I had done in the past) to an external hard drive and pasted them in the c:// of the new computer.  When opening iTunes I have no music, videos, books, etc.  When I open the iTunes folder in the drive I can see all the files and the contents...  When I try to download my purchased items to the new computer I receive the message " There was a problem downloading "---".  You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.  Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again". I tried using "Home Share" which is fine when I am logged into the old computer, I can see and listen to the music, but as soon as I log off the old computer, it is not available on the new computer.  Can anyone give me any advise on where to start to correct this problem???  Very frustrated....

Where exactly did you copy the iTunes folder to on the new computer?
Simply placing it on the "C" drive will not make content magically appear in iTunes.
What exactly was moved? Only the media files or the ENTIRE iTunes folder?
If only the media folder/files were moved, there is no expectation of anything working properly.
iTunes stores the library in the following folders:
    Mac OS X:  /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
    Windows XP:  C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista:  C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    Windows 7:  C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
If the above is not where you placed the iTunes folder, do the following.
    Close iTunes.
Delete the iTunes folder from the above location.
Move the iTunes folder that was copied from the old computer to the new computer and place it in the folder as listed above.
    Launch iTunes.

  • Anyone had issues with iTunes 11.0.4 like me? Keep getting initial (post upgrade) tutorial screen when going into iTune and loss of sync with 1st Gen Apple TV (infuriating as have to re-connect and re-sync everything!!!)

Following upgrade to iTunes 11.0.4 I have had intermittent but numerous (at least 10 incidents) where I go into iTunes and I am presented again with the initial (post upgrade) registration/tutorial screen....as if I have just upgraded iTunes!
This is very frustrating as apart from having to keep re-setting my preferences (e.g. display side bar and menu bar), iTunes no longer recognises my Apple TV (1st generation) as a device. If I check on my Apple TV under 'Computers' my iTunes library is displayed but 'grayed out' indicating the Apple TV can no longer 'see' my iTunes Library. To resolve, I then have to disconnect the Apple TV from my iTunes Library then reconnect again (which works) but ou've guesses it...al the music and movies I have synced across to Apple TV needs to be synced across again....which takes time as we know.
I have re-installed (and re-downloaded) iTunes twice and ruled out any connectivity issues. I suspect some form of bug with iTunes.
Anyone else experienced this and any tips to fix this?

Yes stupid itunes 11.0.4 does not sync to my Apple TV. I tried resetting it and no luck.

  • After updating itunes to the latest version it will now not open. I have tried reinstalling the programme, rebooting and all other suggestions, to no avail. this not the first time I have had issues with itunes. Frankly I find it completely unacceptable .

I recently updated itunes to the latest version and now the programme will not open.
I have tried all suggestions such as reinstalling the programme, rebooting you name it, nothing.
This most frustrating and completely unacceptable, especially when a company such as Apple touts itself being the leader in music technology yet does not respond directly to questions about faults in their system, but prefers to leave to disgruntled customers to try and sort it out amongst themselves
This not the first time I have had frustrating problems with the Apple system. Perhaps someone could suggest a more reliable system to switch to. Someone with a better troubleshooting system.

Going all the way back to Firefox 3.0.5 is shear foolishness, it is 14 security versions behind the last 3.0.19 release. And that version is missing at least a dozen security updates that were applied to the 3.5 and 3.6 versions after support for 3.0.x ended.
If you are not happy with Firefox 4, you should have installed Firefox 3.6.17. That is very similar to the 3.0 and has all the security fixes that have been released since support for Firefox 3.0.x ended last year.

Never had issues with itunes. However, currently unable to up-date to 10.4 version. It tells me to enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'tunes.msi' in the box below. Can't find this. Should I remove itunes and re-install all together? thanks

I have already had to remove Bonjour with the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility due to another common error when running the install
You're already well on track, then. Launch CleanUp again and remove any iTunes entries this time. Quit CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install.

Since this first message, the "Other" space has increased exponentially.  The first time, after the "restore", it increased to over 9 GB.  Later, I tried a minor restore again, and now it's over 10 GB.  I've seen someone suggest that text messages are to blame.  If my text messages are suddenly taking up 4 GB of space, I think we've got bigger problems.

Has anyone had issues with their itunes not coming up?  I keep getting error message 13014.  I just bought a new classic ipod and am not sure if this is the problem.

    Hi
Your new iPod has certain operating system requirements. Does your iMac meet those requirements?

  • Issues with itunes 10.5 on Windows 7 (32 Bit) When Trying to sync iphone 4S or older

I see a lot of people out there, specifically windows OS owners (xp all the way to 7), having issues with iTunes 10.5.  Here are the following issues I've encountered (some may only have one problem, others my have a combo pack of problems).
    1. iphone 4S or older won't sync or backup
    2. iTunes store won't open
The issue I found after using the diagnostics tool in iTunes (which is useless in identify scripting issues or major communication issues), reviewing the windows event log, and reinstalling all apple software and components, was the fact that my spyware and anti virus software was causing a communication error within apple's software.  I use spyware doctor with anti virus.  I had to uninstall spyware doctor in order for iTunes 10.5 to work.  After that, everything worked well and I did a clean install of spyware doctor.
If the issue still persists, you might have to reset your internet protocol (TCP/IP).  You have to run a command prompt as an administrator and enter the following: netsh winsock reset
Visit this Microsoft link for more info about resetting your IP:  support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
Finally words:  Apple, like all other software companies, continually encounter software glitches and issues because they don't test products correctly before bringing them to market- this has been a reoccurring theme for the last 2-3 years.  The most important aspect of using any software should be functionality, efficiency, ease of use, and above all "A Positive End User Experience."  Wasn't that Steve Job's mantra?  We can all hope that Apple embraces his philosophy and vision for the many years to come.  This, above all, is not a great start for Apple moving forward without their true inspirational leader.

Here is what worked for me for both 10.5 and 10.5.1 after hours of frustration with Itunes stopping and shutting down in the middle of a sync or tranferring Apps downloaded on my Ipad2 or Iphone 4:
Start iTunes in iTunes Safe Mode:
    1.  hold down the Shift and Control key together and click to start iTunes.
    2.  when you see the iTunes icon in the task bar, click on it.
    3.  you will get a box that says "iTunes is running in safe mode.  Visual plug-ins you have installed have been termporarily disabled."   [I don't know what plug-ins I installed but you should clearly see that these so-called visual plug-ins are likely the cause of your issues];
    4. click Continue to open iTunes.
You could already have your device connected to your computer or do it after opening iTunes in its safe mode.
Now press your sync button and everything should work fine.
I also disabled Genius in iTunes preferences but I'm not sure if this is one of the issues causing these types of problems.
I hope this works.  This may be the workaround for all of us Windows 7 64-bit folks.

  • Updating Issue with iTunes 7.0.1.8

A few weeks ago I made the jump to the newly released iTunes 7.0. I had a slew of issues with this update (which by the way Apple has still not provided a working solution for), which I addressed in detail in this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3170496#3170496
Today I updated to the new iTunes 7.0.1.8. There were no issues during the installation itself, however afterwards is a completely different story. When I attempt to open iTunes, I receive the following error message: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
My first thought was to see if Quicktime is working normally. It is. No problem there. I thought perhaps I should try repairing the installation. So I went to Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Software > iTunes. I attempted to use the 'repair' option. This did not work at all.
At this point I restarted my computer and uninstalled iTunes. I restarted once again and reinstalled. When the installation had finished I received the prompt, "would you like to run iTunes after the installation is completed?" I clicked 'yes.' iTunes opened, no problem.
I closed iTunes and attempted to reopen it normally. It would not open, instead giving me the same message: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
I thought the previous issues with iTunes not recognizing my iPod were bad enough but now I can't even open iTunes at all. This is absolutely unacceptable on Apple's part. It was bad enough that they released 7.0 with all its bugs, but at this point they should have their act together. Instead the problems are getting worse.

Please let me know if I can get rid of this feature.
    You sure can.
iTunes View menu > Hide MiniStore will do the trick.

  • For those of you who have had issues installing Itunes on Win 7 or possibly another OS

    This MIGHT help you.
I tried all day yesterday to install Itunes and I could not get it to work for the life of me. As of today I finally got it installed, so I am giving a quick list of what I did.
First check to make sure  windows is updated and then make sure your SQLserverCe31.msi file is not missing or corrupt. if so I was able to download it through Microsofts website.
I then used my Windows system file checker tool to repair any corrupted windows files which I had none.
After all of that I downloaded the free version of malwarebytes and ran it when my computer was in safe mode, which found 93 malware "issues" on my computer. I quarantined all of them and ran it again
I then used msconfig and disabled ALL of my NON Microsoft services and ALL of my startup services (Selective startup)
I tried running the Itunes installer again and BOOM everything installed correctly. I hope this helps SOMEONE

"I downloaded the free version of malwarebytes and ran it when my computer was in safe mode, which found 93 malware "issues" on my computer."
...and you're surprised that you had installation issues with iTunes?  This makes me wonder whether others who report problems installing iTunes have computers that are equally infected!  For reference, I just checked the logs from the last Malwarebytes scan (I run an automated scan twice a week) on my main iTunes system (on which, like the other iTunes instances I run, never seems to suffer from any installation issues) - zero issues
