  • Trouble Authorizing Computer with Adobe Digital Editions

    I'm unable to authorize my computer with Adobe Digital Editions. It just gets 'stuck' on the authorizing computer page, it tells me to wait whilst the green bar moves backwards and forwards for hours. I've tried reinstalling the software but it didn't help.
    I searched for help and there was mention of reducing my security settings, which would these be? I'm using Windows 7, I've tried switching off all firewalls and I'm using the administrator account.
    I'm not very tech savy so any advise in simple terms would be appreciated! Many thanks

    I have the same problem. I am also running Windows 7, however, within VirtualBox. I hope this makes no difference.
    I switched off firewall and reduced security settings to the lowest level. I installed and afterwards started the software having admin rights.
    The problem occurs with ADE 2, 3 and 4.
    The authorizations does not have an end. The green bar is moving for hours with the message "authorization running".
    Can anyone help??

  • Hard drive failure in purchased computer with Adobe original disks -how to uninstall and reinstall in my name

    I have purchased a Mac computer with the original boxed disks for CS6. The hard drive has failed, and the disks are still registered in the original owner's name. I have emailed the person to ask if they can have the program deactivated on that computer, so that I can reinstall it under my id, but have not heard back from them. Can anyone advise if there is a way to have the program registered in my name? I have the original disks, and already run CS6 on  a PC. Wanted to take the opportunity to convert to Mac. Thanking forum members in advance for any assistance.

  • Dell Computer with Adobe X but no Serial Number Card

    I just purchased a new laptop from Dell with Adobe X.  Unfortunately, it did not come with a serial number card.  How do I get one, or at least get the serial number in case I need to reinstall the software later?  Thanks.

    It is Dell's responsibility to sort this out for you (indeed they are the only ones who could help). Make sure you also get the CD in case you need to reinstall it after a disk failure.

  • Stolen computer with Adobe Photoshop 8

    Is there any way I can obtain the software for my new computer without purchasing it.  My stolen computer came with the software installed on it.

    If you purchsased any of the Adobe software separately, you might be able to download it from the following link:
    http://prodesigntools.com/tag/ddl
    But if you do not have the serial number info you might not be able to do more than the trial version allows.
    If your stolen computer came with certain software as part of the purchase package, and you did not receive disks for this software, then chances are you are not going to be able to get the software freely otherwise.  As far as I know, software that comes with a purchase, even if you receive the disks, is normally intended solely for the machine purchased.

  • Authorizing computer with old email address.

    I was trying to put some songs from my computer onto my Itouch. There were some of them that said they weren't available until I authorized my computer. It then listed an old email address that is not my current email address. (My computer is authorized on my current email address.) I can't seem to get around this problem with the songs being associated with an old, defunct, email addy. What to do?

    I have almost the exact same problem. I have a bunch of music, ringtones, TV shows, movies... stuff that I purchased that I can't authorize. All of these items were purchased with the same account I'm still using now. The difference is that I've changed my email address. I don't have the original email address from when I made those purchases and I'm unable to authorize them. I can see that when I view info on one of these purchases the "Account Name: " has my old email address... not my iTunes or Apple account. So, if I'm authorizing my iTunes using my new email none of these older purchases will work.
    I'm really curious how to fix this. I've got quite a few purchases from years back that I'd like access to, but I can't authorize using my new email/iTunes or my old email (the one used for the original purchases).
    Take a look at the info and tell me if you see "Account Name:" on one of your purchases. And is that associated to your old email address? There has to be a way to fix this or 'transfer' older purchases, especially if it's all under the same real 'account'.

  • Trouble with authorizing devices with Adobe Digital Editions

    I am attempting to authorize my computer and my Nook Simple Touch to ADE.  I get the following error:  "E_AUTH_NOT_READY Digital Editions encountered an error on the activation server".  Is your server down or is the problem on my end?

    Hello,
    You may not have deauthorized ADE 1.7.2.
    If you haven't, try launching ADE 1.x and hold ctrl+shift+D keys to deauthorize.
    Once you have done it, try authorizing ADE2.0.

  • Can I open a E-book, which is linked with Adobe Digital Editions On another computer of Mine?

    I Have an Ebook, Which can be opened only by using Adobe Digital Editons,
      Thus, i downloaded the adobe digital Editons, and authorised it without Adobe id and Passdode..
    But now, i found out that i cant open the file in another computer of mine...Is there a possibility for me to open the ebook in another computer of mine
    Any Help is appericiated...Thanks in advance :

    You must authorize the second computer with the same Adobe ID.
    There are sometimes issues with this registration: if you have them ....
    Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
    Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
    Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
    A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
    This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
    Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.

  • You can only authorize this computer with an Adobe id that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile device

    When I try to download a library book on my Kobo reader, I keep getting this message. First it tells me to change the computer's authorization to be associated with an Adobe ID. When I click on authorize after logging in, the message keeps telling my "you can only authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that hasn't been previously used to authorize any other computer or mobile device. I have no idea what this means. Help!

    Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
    Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help, and indeed installation can even trigger this state.
    Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
    A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
    Another is  "E_AUTH_NOT_READY"
    This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
    Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
    In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. • How do I authorize my computer with a different email address (Adobe Digital)?

    I am trying to authorize my computer for Adobe Digital, so I can use my eReader. We originally had authorized it for another email address, but would like to change it.

    If you are trying to authorize your computer with a new ID you should first deauthorize your current ID. To do this press Ctrl+Shift+D on Windows (Cmd+shift+D on Mac) (You should be in the library view for this to work). Click "Erase authorization" in the dialog box that pops up.
    To authorize your computer with a new ID you can now Click on Help-> Authorize computer (or alternatively press Ctrl+Shift+U on win or Cmd+Shift+U on Mac) and enter your authorization details.

  • Cannot activate my computer with my Adobe ID after having activated my ebook reader

    I cannot activate my computer with my Adobe ID after having activated my ebook reader with the same ID. I get the error message: "You cannot authorize this computer with an Adobe ID that was previously used to authorize another compuer or moblie device". Shouldn't it be possible to use the same ID on more than just one device? I would like to read the same book on my ebook reader and on my computer.

    Unfortunately, you de-authorized your computer but NOT your items.
    Once a book is accessed on one ID, it cannot be used on another ID.
    I am afraid you may be stuck ... if you are lucky the vendors will give you a second chance.
    ~~~
    This is a vicious trap that Adobe lays for unsuspecting customers.
    When you register 'without ID', ADE creates an anonymous/implicit ID with limited powers (eg can't be used to share with other devices).
    Whenever you first load a DRM book, that copy of the book is associated with whatever ID the computer is registered to at the time.
    Any book you load while this anonymous ID is active gets associated with that ID, and can't be read on any other device.
    When you properly register your computer with a real ID, that old anonymous ID is lost.
    Now you don't have any devices that can read the book.
    I think that even if you de-authorize again and revert to anynomous authorization, it will be a different anonymous ID, but worth a try.
    Not helpful for you if reverting to anonymous doesn't help, but general comment that might help other readers .....
    The only way I know round this is to use a DRM stripper such as epubee BEFORE you deauthorize the device.
    I do NOT advocate using such code to get around the valid limitations placed on a DRM book.
    However, where the problem arises only because of the ineptness of Adobe's ADEPT DRM infrastructure and its implementation,
    such a measure is totally justifiable.
