Authorizing ipod

I had a problem with my ipod touch not synching.  One of the processes involved clicking the option of authorizing my unit with itunes.  I got a message that this iPod has now been authorized on 5 of 5 computers.
The ipod has only been connected to my two home computers since I bought it.
How do I correct this situation?

The you need to deauthorise all your computers and then authorize the ones you now have. For how see:

  • Transferring songs between authorized ipods

I've got an iphone and my son has an ipod touch. I am unable to transfer songs from our ipods to each other's ipods. Any idea why? If I should be able to do this, can you suggest a reason why I am not able to and what I should to fix this problem?

not trying to load from ipod to ipod, rather from his itunes to my itunes
You mean you are trying to load his iPod to your iTunes.
Then you want to load your iTunes to your iPod.
    Are these iTunes purchased songs?
If so, plug in his iPod to your iTunes then File -> Transfer purchases.

  • Authorizing ipod on a new computer

I just got a laptop and I want to use my ipod on it but it says I have maxed the number of computers I can authorize. How do I go back and unauthorize so it will let me? (I didn't have my own personal computer before otherwise I would go back to that one...)

  • De-authorizing authorized iPod computers, please help!

Ok, here it goes. I have 4 authorised computers for using my itunes account on, although I only need one. (Long story, don't ask.)
Anyway, my question is. How do I de-authorize a computer? Is that something that I have to go though Apple's Technical Support? Or is it possible to do so right here on my laptop?
    Thanks in advance!

You do it yourself. Provided you have access to the computer, and have not lost your password, go to the iTunes "Store" menu item and you will see a choice to Deauthorize.
If the computer is inoperable, or no longer accessible, this will not work. But when you hit 5, you can "Deauthorize All" and start over.

  • Multiple users with different Ipods on same computer

My household has one general computer that is used by myself and my two teenage daughters. We don't use separate logins because it is used mostly to just go online, check our email, and use Itunes along with updating our Ipods. This works fine for us except that we have different Ipods. My girls have the Ipod Mini's and I have the Ipod (with video screen).
My question is this: Can one computer (running WinXPProSp2)authorize two different Ipods under the same user name? Also, can two (or three) different Ipods be "authorized" on the same computer?

Yes, your not really authorizing ipods, you just authorize a PC to play songs you buy from iTUnes. Once its authorized all ipods can play the song that connect to it.
You can separate the music that is loaded to each iPod (Like your music only added to your ipod and your girls ipods only updating there music to there ipods) By creating your own playlist and setting the ipod to update them. • ITunes says I have 2 computers authorized but I really have 3

iTunes says I have 2 computers authorized  (iPod Touch and MacBook Pro). However, until recently, I had 3 computers authorized but my iMac mysteriously disappeared from the list a few days ago. When I try to authorize my iMac, iTune says it's already authorized. Why did my iMac computer disappear from the list and how do I get it back on the list so I can continue to update Apps, etc, on my iMac?

Even though my iMac wasn't appearing in the authorized computer list, I tried to de-authorize it and this evening it worked. It actually de-authorized the computer. Yesterday I tried this same step and iTunes didn't allow me to de-authorize. After I de-authorized, I authorized the iMac. However, the iMac still wasn't appearing in the authorized computer list. I logged out of iTunes.
As a last resort, I decided to play a t.v. movie I had purchased on this computer using my one an only iTunes account. After I played a couple of minutes of the movie, I stopped it and logged into my iTunes account.
Hurray, finally my iMac is appearing in the authorized computer list and I'm able to update my purchased apps on my iMac.

  • How I can sort music files (audiobook) in music player on iPhone by file name, not by title name?

I have audiobook of abt.500 files, all titles are the name of the book. iPhone music player does not understand sorting by file names, but by title, hterfore it plays files chaotic. So, how I can sort audiobook files in music player by file name, not by title name?

    I have the same problem.
I've went through the pains of merging all chapters into one big file for each and every audiobook, so that at least the chapters don't get played in random order. Month and month of work….. In iTunes 12.01. I can now order my audiobooks by title or by author.
But once they're uploaded to my blo*dy expensive iPhone 6Plus 128 (which I bought especially to have all my music and my audiobooks on one device) my audiobooks are NOT sorted by author, but by Title.
So, let's say I have 15 books by Ken Follet, they don't appear as Ken Follet > Title of the book but they are sorted alphabetically with all the other titles of other authors.
iPods where originally designed for music and audiobooks, but each and every version of iOS makes handling your music and especially your audiobooks harder and harder….
I am very disappointed and after so many years of using apple, I am considering to move on to android devices.

  • White screen, won't shutt off!

I have just dropped my iPod, maybe four feet at most. It played fine for a minute then it went to a white screen and now it won't shut off. What should I do? This is a 80GB video model.

I highly dought that Apple would fix something like this under their warranty. You might want to take it into a local authorized ipod retailer to see if they can do anything for you.
You might also want to at least try this out first. See article:

  • Made copies that are hidden on my computer?

Have today made my first attempt to transfer files from my ipod to itunes. And at first tried to right click a song and select copy several times and nothing happens. Found out later how to make transferring files in the right way.
I have not authorized ipod on itunes yet. What has happened? Have I now made extra copies which I can not see in itunes? This is not something I want. How can I check that I have not made copies that are hidden on my computer? What actually happens when I choose to press copy a song, taking into account the l has not authorized ipod on itunes yet?

I sympathize with roaminggnome - How is this so? I will tell you how this is so.....
2 Macbooks and an Ipad were stolen from my house. When i was out of the house, I had my phone with me.
I always backed everything/synced to my computer AND to icloud.
Now we have a new computer and Ipad and you are telling me I would need to email my 1,600 pictures from my iphone photo albums to myself and reload them to my new computer?
You have got to be kidding me? I also do not understand how I saved all of my albums to my ipad & on the computer and synced to BOTH the computer AND icloud, but those albums are lost, because they were not on my camera roll?
    1. I need another solution to getting my photos from my iphone to my imac.
    2. How do i recover those albums that were saved to icloud, but I can only "see" the camera roll on icloud.
I know they are there somewhere - here is why:
When I first got my (new) Ipad and had downloaded (what i thought was everything) from icloud, I opened up my photos to show someone a picture that night and low and behold the names of several of my albums were in the photo app, but the pictures were all jumbled up. Almost like it was trying to search and organize, but it just wasn't done...... Example - dog album had pictures of leaves or people, not the dog.
The next day I opened the Ipad & went to photos, no albums, just photo stream, camera roll. Only the pictures that had been taken when we first got the (old) Ipad.
    Can anyone provide assistance??
    thanks!

  • The iPod could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorized for purchased items that are on this iPod.

    Full message that pops up
"The iPod could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorized for purchased items that are on this iPod.
To authorize this computer for items purchased from iTunes Store, choose Store > Authorize This Computer."
I am unable to sync my music, applications, movies, etc. to my iPod touch. The only way I am able to bypass the message that pops out when I try to sync (the one in the title) is by clicking "Apply" instead of "Sync". To do this, I make changes to Apps, Music, or Movies (...) and the buttons "Revert" and "Apply" will replace the button "Sync".
My problem is most likely not due to using many accounts because I only have one and it is the only one that I use. I do not share accounts with my family members. Still, I have tried everything here, nothing has worked for me. Since I don't often listen to Podcasts, I have deleted them from my iPod. I have no idea why I am unable to sync and no one seems to have the same problem as me.
Thank you for your help in advance.
    Details
    iPod touch, 5th generation
    iOS 8.1.2
    iTunes 12.0.1.26
    Windows 8
    Purchases
Pre-ordered album "Froot" purchased from the account that is authorized to my computer
Podcast "Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig" also purchased from the account that is authorized to my computer

Try backing up to iTunes and restoring from that backup

  • ITunes is telling me my computer is no longer able play purchased items on my ipod unless i authorize my computer. But it's already authorized.

And when i DO try and authorize it, it's fine but then the error message comes up again. It seems fine, i already synced it once and the music was still there, but i can't apply any new podcasts to it this way since it won't complete the synching process? I think? I don't really know it's just very annoying. Why, if i'm already authorized, is it saying i'm NOT??

Sorry, I don't have a response. I just wanted to say that I have the exact same problem. It started about a week ago and a number of songs that I've purchased have been deleted from my ipod when I sync.
    It's very frustrating.

  • IPod no longer Authorized, since OS 4.3 upgrade

A little bit of history first- iPod touch is 1 year old (3rd gen). Until a week ago, I have had no problems syncing it with iTunes. All of a sudden, after the iOS 4.3 upgrade, next time I connected for Sync, I get:
This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPod "Jeff's iPod Touch". Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?
When I click Authorize, it prompts me for my account password. Then it tells me this computer is already Authorized. Later, rinse, repeat. It just loops between "Not authorized" and "Already authorized". I have tried to deauthorize the computer and reauthorize it, but that does not help.
Interestingly, my iPhone 4 does not have this problem- it is limited to the iPod Touch only (don't ask why I use two devices- I just do at this point in time).
The only other thing to change was the that I installed a small batch of Windows Updates also just before this happened, but the iOS 4.3 and that both occurred between the last successful sync and this problem.
I can seemingly get the data backed off the device (I think) but can't get past the app sync, and the only way out is to cancel, which leaves the music not synced either (playlists are getting stale now).
I was able to update the iPod Touch to iOS 4.3.1 update and the apps are still there, along with the music. I can use the device, I just cannot sync it anymore.
I also have latest iTunes- 10.2.2.1.
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Forgot to mention that I had tried those:
Authorize your purchases from an administrator account
    -> Yep, I'm the admin
Authorize using the correct account name
-> Nothing changed- I am only authorizing my devices, and only use my account on the machine. Definitely using the right account name.
Turn Off User Account Controls (Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only)
-> Did this a long, long time ago, so definitely not the issue.
    Remove the SC Info folder
-> This was the only new thing that I had seen yesterday when I tried it, and went through these steps, to no avail. Still exactly the same problem. I closed iTunes, deleted the folder, rebooted and relaunched iTunes and synced the device. Same thing.
The problem is the computer IS authorized, and I can sync one device, but not the other. No problem with iPhone 4- just iPod Touch, 3rd gen. It seems to be in a weird state.
One thing would lead me to believe it's a PC/iTunes problem, but then it is only with one device and not the other. Hard to point to the root of the problem. I just don't want to lose the data on the iPod- I've done a lot of work on it.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Ipod no longer authorized (unknown error -42408)

posted this at itunes site as well.
out of blue, having problem i've never had syncing my 60G ipod.
for years have been syncing this ipod with my itunes on my macbook (only). for the past few times (?month or so), i'm getting an error message when i try to sync that first says, the ipod/macbook is not authorized for this ipod (which it always has been).
then it asks me if i want to authorize it. when i hit "authorize", it brings up an old itunes account i had and asks me for the old password, which i enter. then i get an error message that says:
"unknown error -42408. error in itunes store. please try again later."
how do i fix this so that i don't get this error message and can continue syncing with my most recent account, which has NEVER been a problem in the past?
    thanks.

I have exactly the same problem. My iPod is a 30GB one from 2005 or 2006 (I don't know how to identify its category). When it was new, I had a PC; then a year and a half ago I switched to a Mac and got everything transferred ok, and have been synching the iPod to the Mac with no trouble since then. (Well, slight trouble, because the iPod is now very full, and I haven't figured out the best way to synch "almost everything", but so far I'm managing somehow.) But just before leaving Moscow March 10, I wanted to synch and recharge the iPod, and got the same problem, with the same sequence of messages described at the start of this thread. So I only recharged it. Now I'm in Amherst, tried again, exact same problem. So now only recharging again.
Same computer, same iPod, why does it suddenly not recognize that this computer is authorized to synch this iPod, and why does it make this error when I tell it to authorize it? And how can I fix it?
    Grateful for any help.
    Barbara
