Authorizing purchased music

I purchased all my music from itunes but am unable to play them on my computer let alone download them on my new ipod. When I bought my music I was signed up with aol at the time. I no longer have an account with aol so therefore I was not authorize to listen to my purchased music. I did attempt to try and create another account with apple to authorize my one computer that i use to listen to my music. That didn't work either. How can i listen to my purchased music.

I also used to have AOL. Now cannot play previously purchased songs. I try the enter your aol screenname and password 3 times and it takes me to a box to click for creat a new apple account and it says it will transfer my songs to this new account. I click on it and it takes me to a "confirm identity page" where it asks me to enter my credit card info.
Question 1" Confirm identiy of who? My old aol account or the new apple id I will be creating. It is asking me to enter my credit card info so I enter it and then it takes me to a second screen where it asks to enter an apple id and all the relevant info (security quesiton etcc.)
Quesiton 2 I enter the info and it takes me to the 3rd screen to fill in my credit card info (Same I entered at the first screen where it asks to confirm identity) and I enter and it comes up that my apple id and password is incorrect. WHY?? If I am creating a new apple id why does it say this. I enter the apple id I have now and of course it tells me this apple id is already in use.
It is absurd all the messages on this topic. The ABUSE between this apprent deal between AOL and Itunes is abusive because you get this runaround and no one seems to get an answer that solves the problem! We paid for this music it is ours and we should be able to play it! I heard people are going to e-mail the Today show and Good morning America to report this problem and another friend is considering starting a petition and a class action suit! Everyone should e-mail Today show and GMA to report this runaround everyone seems to get! I would just like a solution so I am giving ITunes a chance and asking for a solution (one that acutually works!) which I would greatly appreciate. Thank you.

  • Authorizing purchased music without going through MusicStore

I purchased music on my home computer and updated the songs to my iPod. I bring my iPod to work and can not play the latest songs I ordered. I receive the message about my computer is not authorized to play my new songs. I put in my apple ID and password and an error message comes up about my network. I have a feeling that my network is blocking me from connecting to the Store and they may not permit me to do so-- is there a way around this? This has only recently happened with music I have purchased.

You must be able to connect to the iTMS and authorize a system before it can play any tracks purchased from the iTMS. So if your company's network is blocking access, you won't be able to play those tracks directly. What you could do, though, is burn the tracks to an audio CD on your home system which can then be played on your work computer without it needing to be authorized.

  • Problem Authorizing Purchased Music

I recently upgraded Tiger to Leopard, and since then have been asked to authorize some purchased music and am running into some problems.
100 purchased and previously authorized songs are not playable. When I try to play the song on my computer, a message comes up saying I need authorize the song. The user ID that appears is "maryorourke," my user ID minus the rest of the email address. I cannot authorize these songs without a valid user ID. I have no idea how these songs came under the invalid ID or how to reset these songs. All other songs are under a valid user ID.
How do I fix this problem?
    Thanks!

    hiya!
these resources should be helpful with that:
    Using iPod with multiple computers
    Managing songs manually on iPod
Copying music between authorized computers with iTunes for Windows

  • Authorizing purchased music onto new computer

I have loaded my library onto a new mac and am wondering if there is a way to authorize all purchased songs at once rather than one at a time?

You should only need to play one song. When you play an item you've purchased, your computer is authorised to play content purchased using your Apple Account: : About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • HT204074 My roomate and I have separate apple id's both have purchased music on iTunes  and have authorized eachother on our computers. What happens if he makes his computer one of my iTunes Match  devices? Will he still be able to use his music and mine

My roomate and I have separate apple id's and we both purchase music from iTunes Store on our own id's. we authorized eachother as users on our computers. I recently purchased iTunes Match. If he sets his MacBook and iPhone 4 as one of my devices (1of10) on iTunes Match will he be able to see his purchases and mine on his computer? Will I be as to see his? Can he still use his apple I'd? I'm new to this....
FYI I have iPhone 5 and windows vista my roomate has iPhone 4 and a macbook

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes.

  • IPhoto 4.03 & iTunes 6.04, purchased music says, it needs to be authorized.

iPhoto 4.03 & iTunes 6.04, my purchased music keeps saying it needs to be authorized, for my computer. I select a piece of music for an iPhoto slide show and repeatedly go through the authorization process and then no music; no matter how many times, I try. Any Suggestions?

Good point... In trying to save a step or two, I didn't think it completely through. But cannot iTunes' DRM be removed by simply burning a playlist to CD? Your track(s) should then be available from that CD (or for import from it) for your slideshow.

  • After having to get a new computer, I tunes repeatedly asks to authorize the computer to play/sync purchased music. However, ITunes is saying that the computer is already authorized. What do I do?

After having to get a new computer, I tunes repeatedly asks to authorize the computer to play/sync purchased music. However, ITunes is saying that the computer is already authorized. What do I do?

You can transfer all the iTunes purchased music from the iPod Touch to your new computer.
From iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer:
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod has your purchased content from the iTunes Store, you can transfer the content to a computer that is authorized for your Apple ID.
Note: This option only works for content you purchased from the iTunes Store (as opposed to content from other sources, such as CDs you may have imported). For content you did not purchase from the iTunes Store, synchronization occurs in one direction only. This means your content can be copied from a computer to your iOS device, but cannot be copied from your device to a computer.
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Authorize Computer.
In the dialog that appears, the Apple ID button is selected by default. If you have an AOL account, select AOL.
Enter your Apple ID or AOL account and password. Then, click the Authorize button.
Connect your device your computer. If it is synced with another iTunes library, the following may appear:
If this alert appears, click Transfer Purchases.
If you were not offered the option to transfer purchases:
After connecting your device to the computer, its icon appears in iTunes. Click the icon.
From the File menu, choose "Transfer Purchases from 'Your device name.'"

  • Purchased music, while authorized, doesn't update on Nano

Maybe this is obvious, but I can't figure it out: I cannot get any of my purchased music to get onto my new 2 Gig Nano. My computer is authorized and I've never burned a CD or shared my music. When I drag the song over the Nano icon in the iTunes window, nothing happens.
I can get any of my other, non-iTunes music to load onto the Nano, but not iTunes purchased music.
    Any ideas?
    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

Now, after trying again, I seem to have random success at putting Purchased music on my Nano.
What's equally frustrating is that when I eject the Nano, my G5 freezes.
I'm not able to update any of the software from the CD or the Apple site, because - I'm guessing - my software is up to date.
Sorry, Craig, but I'm almost glad someone else is having these problems. I thought it was just me...

  • HT4539 purchased music is not being downloaded to all authorized computers.

purchased music is not being downloaded to all authorized computers.

Did you have 'automatic downloads' turned 'on' on those computers when you bought the music ? If not then, if the music is still in the store, you should be able to re-download it on each computer via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page
Or you can copy the music between your computers : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527

  • HT201303 Why can't I purchase music from itunes store via my authorized laptop?

Could this have something to do this the fact that my account was set up while I was back home in the United States of America and now I'm deployed in the Middle East?  As stated, my laptop is authorized in itunes for purchases and I have purchased music in the past from this PC. Any suggestions? thanks!

Are you logging into the US Store, JG?

  • Not authorized to play purchased movies but can play purchased music.

I got a "This computer is not authorized to play (movie)" after downloading a movie from the iTunes store. I checked other movies and got the same message. BUT all purchase music plays just fine. I followed the recommended fixes: deauthorized the computer; removed all authorized accounts; removed the SC info folder. But I still get "This computer is not authorized to play (movie)" message just for the movies.
    iTunes 10.6.1
    Thanks!

I still get a gray screen with no picture or sound for downloaded movies in iTunes 10.6.1 in Mac OSX 10.5.8 on a G4 1.67 MHz Powerbook. BUT if I boot the Powerbook in Mac OSX 10.4.11 and use iTunes 9.2.1, the movies work.
After explaining the problem to a knowledgeable person, she suspects the "codec" has been changed in iTunes 10.6.1 so as to run  on Intel. Only suggestion she gave was to downgrade iTunes. Any suggestions to find iTunes 9?

  • HT1420 I authorized my computer, but none of my purchased music is coming up. What is wrong?

I just authorized my home computer - I primarily use my Mac laptop to use my iTunes, but I wanted to be able to burn CDs for my car - and none of my purchased music (or really, any of my purchased items) is coming up. What went wrong?

Nothing. Putting your previous purchases onto a different computer is a separate process.

  • If I download my purchased music off of Itunes to an authorized computer will Apple charge me?

Just want to download my purchased music off of ITunes onto an authorized computer. When I attempted to do so, ITunes asked me for credit card information but doesnt say anything about charging me for downloading.
Question: does anyone know if ITunes Charges you to download previously purchased music off of its website? Thank you.

If you buy it again it will charge you, yes.
Copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
Or transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purcahses
In the U.S you can use the newly released beta version of icloud.  Open  itunes, go to the itunes store.  Look under Quick Links, click Purchased

  • Authorized computer but can't play purchased music

When I select play for music purchased from iTMS I get a message that says 'this computer is not authorized to play this song. Would you like to authorize it?' and prompts me for my password. After putting in my password I get the message "machine authorization was successful' and then a new message pops up 'we could not complete your music store request. An unknown error occurred (208). I still can't play my purchased music. Has anyone encountered this - any suggestions?

Dboy - you the man! I went to your suggested link and took the advice of Barbara Hall of deleting the SC Info file and it worked like a charm. I also noted that as soon as I launched iTunes the file was created again. So I wonder if the problem will occur again. At least I'll know what to do next time.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post.
    Regards!

  • Purchased music on 2 different authorized computers

Probably dumb question but here goes. We have 2 computers sharing, and we purchased songs from both of them. Is there a way to combine the Purchased Music ? And can you burn from a shared music folder ?

No, but he can copy it to an iPod, then use "Transfer purchases from iPod" to move it to another authorized computer. He can also transfer it using a thumb drive, email, etc.
