Authorizing two accounts on one computer

My iTunes account is authorized on my macbook. If I authorize my daughters iTunes account on my computer will this do anything to my account, will her music download and mix with mine, will this do anything to her account?

1. No.
2. If you use the same iTunes library and enable automatic downloads for her account, the music will be put into one library. Note that you may encounter a 90-day waiting period if previously-purchased content is downloaded.
3. No.

  • Authorized 2 accounts on one computer, now can't use iTunes

My dad and I both have Macs and iTunes accounts, but I wanted him to be able to play some of my TV shows, so I thought I would authorize his laptop with my iTunes account. I know lots of people have two or more iTunes accounts on one computer, so I didn't think it would be a problem. As soon as I did it, though, iTunes kept demanding (as in, every 2 seconds) that I log in again, even though I was using the right password. It would let me log in, then ask for the log in info again. Finally I gave up and logged out, but now my dad, back on his own iTunes account, is having the same problem. What's going on? How can we fix this? At the moment he can't get anything done on the iTunes store and it's very frustrating. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Guys,
You can have up to 5 devices authorized on an iTunes account.
Open iTunes.app on your machine then go up to the menu bar, Store>Authorize Computer.
A great little little backward downloading program is Senuti http://www.fadingred.org/senuti/ (iTunes backward) It is good for transfering stuff back to your iTunes music folder without a sync.
    Good Luck,

  • Two accounts on one computer but only one itunes works

I used the directions for creating two user accounts on one computer when my son got a new itouch.  I have an itunes account for my iphone.  I then created a new user account and downloaded itunes to second account for son's itouch.  I can't access itunes store from the new user account.  My account for an iphone will access itunes store.  When I click itunes store, the loading signal comes up at the top of the page as if loading but it never loads.
I have tried reinstalling?  Updating quicktime.
Any idea what may be stopping the access?  I use firefox as the default for my account but have not loaded it onto the new account.... could that be a problem?
    What's wrong?

Possibly it registered incorrectly once (who knows why), and now it thinks that is the right way. From what I understand all of the correct songs are still on your iPod though. In iTunes, single click on the incorrectly named iPod, then click again (kinda a delayed double click), then rename the iPod. From what I picked out of your post, they are both the same kind of iPod with the same amount of memory. If that's not the case, post back.
    As for the songs skipping...

  • Merging two accounts on one computer

I recently discovered that my teenage daughter had created her own iTunes account on my computer and we have been purchasing songs via that iTunes account. I would like to delete that account but not lose the songs. Is there a way to consolidate these accounts and the songs into the one account?
    Thanks!
    Dave

You can copy them to a different iTunes library, yes. But they'll still have to be authorized through the iTunes Store account under which they were purchased.
Note, just in case I've misunderstood what you were asking, that you can merge iTunes libraries; that is, you can copy tracks from anywhere on the computer or from another computer and put them all into one iTunes library. But you cannot change the iTunes Store account under which purchased content is authorized; you have to use the account ID and password under which the content was originally purchased and there's no way to change that.

  • Two accounts on one computer ? Or one account shared ?

Can anybody help ? We have one computer, I have an iphone my wife has a nano. We dont have the same taste in music. Can we have an account each on the same computer or can we share the same account, thereby still have one account ?
    Thankyou for reading.

    Hi,
This article explains how to share music across separate user accounts.

  • Two accounts on one computer? (Using it as an iTunes server)??

I want to set up a music server at home that is on all the time so that the other two computers can access the music, so is it possible to have two different accounts on the same server so that the music is available all the time, or should I make the server the main iTunes account and allow access to the other two machines?
Right now we have two accounts, one on each machine and both have to be on to access the music from each others machines.

I have 2 accounts on my Windows XP Operating System. Each account has its own seperate ipod. When one user downloads music, the other user cannot see the downloaded music in their itunes, even with the shared library checked. Any suggestions?

  • How do I create two accounts on one computer?

Hi - I just bought my son a new iPod and he gave me his old one (a mini). His iTunes account is on my computer and I want to create my own account on the same computer so that we're not paying off each other's credit cards. How do I do that? It doesn't matter if we share music or not; we do have a lot of likes in common and can ignore the dislikes. Thanks.

  • Help using two accounts on one computer or merging accounts?

Okay, here's the situation I hope someone can help resolve.
My wife and I have two separate iTunes accounts and currently we are having a hard time putting music on our iPods and plugging them into our iPod docking station/speakers. Sometimes I use her iPod Nano and sometimes she uses my iPod Classic, sometimes vice versa. The problem is that every time we switch iPods and sync with our computer it removes all the songs that the other person put on the iPod (because the iPod was synced to another computer/account).
Is there a way to merge accounts or authorize both of our computers to recognize both accounts so that we don't have to remove the other person's songs every time we sync our iPods?

    +"Is there a way to merge accounts"+
    No.
+"...or authorize both of our computers to recognize both accounts"+
    Yes. Store > Authorize Computer
+"...so that we don't have to remove the other person's songs every time we sync our iPods?"+
You can also look into manual, rather than automatic, syncing of the iPod. It has its pros and cons, but it does allow you to keep the songs. Read up in iTunes Help.

  • Okay, there are two accounts on one computer, and my account is the main one though ever since, I've been having issues with downloading new songs and apps onto my iPod touch. Not only that but now all of my music's gone from my library. How can I fix it?

Has anyone ever had this problem before? I would love some advice on how to restore my library with all my music. I have 841 songs on my iPod touch and yet my iTunes library on my account says I have none, ever since my sister made her account on my laptop and some of her songs have gotten on mine (the main) account. Not only that but my iTouch doesn't seem to want to accept any other songs outside of its list. Any advice?

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

Can you set up 2 iTunes accounts on one computer?

I had two accounts on one computer until recently. You need to use two user accounts on the computer. Note, I say I did it until recently, therefore I'm not able to confirm this still works, but assume it does.

  • I have two apple accounts on one computer. How do i delete one account without deleting the other?

    I have two questions!!
I need to know how to delete one account without deleting the other account on the computer?
I am deleting the account because i have a new laptop that now has the my account... will deleting the account on one computer affect the account on the other laptop?

What do you mean by deleting the account? One can't delete an Apple ID/iTunes account. One just stops using it.
Since yo can only have five computer authorized for one iTunes account you might want to deauthorize the computer for that account

    Not sure what you mean.
An account is a user name and password.
Sign into whichever account you want to use for purchasing.
Authorize the computer for both account to listen to the content.
