Auto answer using headset

I have an iPhone 3Gs and use a wired headset to listen to music. When a call comes in, I have to dig out the phone to answer I'm looking for a setting that will allow the phone to answer on it's own when connected to earphones, but can't seem to find one. Older style(non-Apple) phone had that ablility. A I missing something here?

There is no auto-answer feature. Which wired headset? The Apple headset can be used to answer the call by pressing the button on the cord.

When you enable "Auto Answer with Headset" an agent can still press the Headset button and break that function. Is there a way to keep the agent from being able to disable the Headset button on the phone (Cisco IP Phone 7962g) while maintaining the ability to force Auto Answer with Headset??

Hi,
It sounds more like training or organizational issue. If agents do it accidentally, usually this behavior disappeas in a couple of days (if agents were using other phones). And if they do it on-purpose, then supervisors should take care for this issue.
Technically this issue may be resolved by placing some kind of plastic cap over the headset button, but then you should have a mechanism to activate a headset button, if it was deactivated (for excample, afther the phone reboots).
Alternatively you may use longer cord and place the phone out of reach (not exactly "far-far away", but at least out of the hand reach. Plus, depending on the CallCenter software you use, agent may never need touch a phone, in most cases all interaction happens on the PC.

I use to have a phone that had the autoanswering option in the setting while hooked to a headset. It would be very convenient on the IPhone cause I have a telecom system for my motorcycle and i'd like my IPhone to auto answer after a few rings.

It's not possible. that's not a feature of the iPhone OS.

Auto answer setting in iphone 3G

I ride a motorbike and have a bluetooth system to my helmet. I have the phone in the back of the bike or in my pocket. Phone rings but I can't answer it because of where the phone is located. I know with the other phones i have had in the past they had a setting to auto answer the phone after 3 rings when connected to a bluetooth headset. Is this possible running 3.0 on the iphone.
I realy don't want to have to purchase any more equipment to get this to work.

Short answer: Regrettably, not from the iPhone itself. There are a couple Bluetooth earpieces that have an auto answer option and will work with the iPhone (Cardo S-800, some BlueAnt models). I have tried both, but have found them not to fit well with my ear, so I keep on using a Nokia 6300 and Jabra BT 5020.
I have numerous times asked Apple to include auto answer as an option on the iPhone (through http://www.apple.com/support/feedback/), but without tangible results. I would suggest that any who wish this feature also ask for it through the above mechanism. Perhaps numerous requests will bring results.

don't know if this is too late for you but you can finally do this.
You can't do it with a wired headset but you can do it with a Bluetooth one, but you have to buy a very specific headset because the technology is in the headset not the phone.
I'm not working for this company, I am a disabled person who has needed this to be available for ages and I've finally just found the answer myself.
I've been looking for this for years but no one has made an App for it, except on jailbroken phones, and there are distinct drawbacks with that.
You have to buy a Bluetooth "Plantronics Voyager Legend" headset and this has an auto answer function which speaks to you and allows you to answer using your voice.
If somebody dials you it will look and see if it is in your contacts, if it is it will say who is calling and then say do you want to "answer" or "ignore". If it's not in your contacts it will just say do you want to answer or ignore.
If you wait about a second and then say one of those two words it will do what you tell it to.
You can also voice dial and do some other functions as long as you can get your hand to your ear to push a button, I can't but the voice answer was what I was looking for as I can do the rest on the screen.
You can also pair it to 2 separate devices at the same time so you can use it to talk to your cellphone and your computer at the same time.
It's brilliant, I would highly recommend it even if it's not cheap, and it really works well.

S705 Bluetooth music streaming auto-answers incomi...

I've got a Motorola Soundpilot S705 Bluetooth music streaming device which I use with my N95 8Gb to stream music (obviously). It generally works fine, but for some reason, calls are automatically answered when the device is active and I do not want it to do this.
I have checked my settings and the device is not set to auto-answer.
My Nokia Bluetooth earpiece works fine without auto-answering calls, which made me presume that the problem lies with a feature on the S705, however Motorola insist that the device does not have a feature/ option for auto-answering calls and that the problem is with the N95 8Gb itself.
Any ideas how I can resolve this issue?

I have the same issue, but I am using a Blueant Z9i wireless headset, on a N95-8g
No matter what I set the option to it still auto answers...drives me crazy.
Tried deleting the device in bluetooth and reseting the bluetooth headset itself.
I called Bueant support, and they stated that was not a problem they have seen.

Problem after using Headset

I bought a new headset for my Blackberry Curve 8520. I plugged in a sony erricson headset first. I tested it and it worked fine. Once i disconnected it my phone started behaving very funny.
You know how an icon appears top left of the phone while a call is active? that icon now started fluctuating. So it would be the phone sigh with 2 arrows (which indicates on call on phone) and another second it would change to the headset icon (the one which appears when the headset is connected)
I cant even put my phone on spearphone any more!
I cant use my phone any longer without the head set connected.
Please help!
It is so annoying that I swear to never use headset again for my phone.
My worry is hif connecting a sony ericson head set spoiled something in my phone.
The shop keep phone had categoricaly mentioned that it will not create any problem with a blackberry.

I have this problem too. Auto lock is off and Siri can be used from the lock screen but this defeats the purpose of hands free usage for example when you are on a bicycle and can't use the phone normally. After sending a message or a reply to one Siri locks the phone and you cannot hear new messages until you unlock the phone which can be potentially dangerous!
I'd love to see if there is a solution as I can't see any option in settings (either Siri settings or pass lock settings) to fix this.

DEACTIVATING AUTO ANSWER ON BLUE TOOTH DEVICE

I have a BB Q10 and I use a JABRA BT2045 Bluetooth headset. I was able to set the device to answer call after 5 seconds. The issue now is that I want to turn off the auto answer option but I am unable to get the settings to turn off this option.
Can someone help me. My current Software release is 10.2.0.424 amd the model number of my phone is SQN100-3.

Open the phone app. Swipe down in the app and select the settings icon from the top menu. Select Bluetooth. Toggle the setting here.

Auto answer on 7940

I am using a cisco 7940 ip phone in combination with ccme and I was wondering whether it is possible to automatically answer incoming calls. Thanks in advance!

There are at least a couple of options.
With CME 4.0 and later you can use the Headset Auto-Answer feature which allows auto-answer when the headset key is activated. See the following link.

Another option is to configure a DN as an intercom line which auto answers by default. There are some restrictions, such as the intercom DN can only be associated with one phone. Take a look at the following link.

Is there an Auto connect bluetooth headset option? I hate having to always choose to send a phone call to my hands-free device. What's the point of a Bluetooth headset if I have to use the phone every time to connect to it?

Keep it on or re-pair the devices and toggle the Auto-connect setting.

My SB Audigy 2 card can't use headset and musicamplifier at the same time

Hi, i just bought a SB Audigy 2 [D400] and i have downloaded drivers and programs. I run Windows XP SP2.
The soundcard works fine but it is very very annoying that i physically have to change the jack in the green=line out jack from headset to musicamplifier when i want to use my musicamplifier and change back the jack in the green=line out from musicamplifier to headset when i just want to use the headset/headphones .
In the shop they told my that i can connect both amplifier and headset at the same time and then with creative software control whether there is sound in the headset or in the amplifier. But i can't simple get it work.
I tried to use the green to the amplifier and the headset/speakers in the black (line out 2) and then with creative speaker settings softeware choose headphones but still the ampliefier receive the sound and no sound in the headphones. Why? In fact no matter what configuration i try the headphones doesn't work.
But if i change the jacks so headset is in the green line out then only headset is working and the amplifier doesn't work no matter i put it in sort=line out 2 jack or orange=line out 3 jack.
Can somebody here tell me if it is possible or not to connect both headset and external amplifier and control by software which to play? and how?

If you can have an ASIO compatible music playing system, then it might be possible to have system like you wish when using Creative Audigy 2 card. Since ASIO bypasses Windows Audio System, you can use both 'drivers' (ASIO - WDM/MME/DS) side by side.
Say you want to play a game (using headset /w mic) and someone other like to listen music at the same time. With ASIO capable system you can output your music for example to "center L/R (stereo) channels" and same time output sounds from other source (using MME/DS/WDM drivers) to normal output channel (Front L/R). Only thing is, you need to set your speakersystem to 4 or 6 (depending which other channel you're using) (and for better 'balance' to adjust "angle" on THX console. You get the THX console by installing Audigy 2 Zs software).

If you use ASIO on BeatPort Player you can select L/R individually from the list(s). Same rules as described earlier.
= You can play from 2 different sources simultaoneusly (ASIO + WDM/MME/DS) to two different outputs without disturbance. The other (WDM/MME/DS) source is set 'automatically' output to (Audigy) "green" port, and the other (ASIO) to "black" or "orange" port (as set).

Officejet Pro 8610: Will not Auto Answer

We just purchased two HP Officejet Pro 8610's and have set them up at the office, however, we have noticed that even though we have the Auto Answer feature enabled, neither machine is automatically answering. Instead they are still requiring a manual "yes, go ahead and answer that" button press which does not work for us as we often do not have people around those machines.

I believe it is related to distintive ring setting. Have you tried to set the Distinctive Ring feature to All Rings and see if the printer can answer it automatically?
If you using distintive ring service, please refer to User manual on the distinctive ring setting.
If you are not using a distinctive ring service, check to make sure that the Distinctive Ring
feature on the printer is set to All Rings.

Using headset with ipod touch and Skype

Trying to use headset with jack adapter on ipod touch using skype. Audio out is fine but mic doesn't seem to work. Will this work, or will I have to switch to the Apple earbuds with mic?

I have successfully tested Skype using a $20 pair of GE ear buds with microphone. It used the correct iPod Touch earphone/microphone jack.
I've also used this with voice recorder software, and so has my wife.

Nokia 700 and auto answer / handsfree kit function...

Can this phone auto answer, at all? This is for in-car use, when external power is connected continuously. With previous Nokia phones (I have the E51) the Tektronic Car Pack does all that, very well, but the company seems to have died. I cannot see any config in the phone. Could a 3rd party cluetooth-connected car kit make it work that way? The 700 user manual is near-useless - just states the obvious for each config item
