Auto bcc to myself

Mail settings on the iPhone (2.0) allow for automatically sending a blind copy (bcc) of sent emails to myself. The problem is that the email address used for the bcc is the one indicated in my email account definition. There is no way to enter a different email address for that function as there is just an ON/OFF selection for the bcc function. However many spammers are spoofing one's own email address in the FROM field of their spam, therefore emails from me to me are automatically stopped by our anti-spam software. Can't Apple allow for the entry of a different email address to be used for these auto-bcc? This would solve that problem.

I too would like this feature. My Blackberry did it. I store all my sent mail in my gmail acct which is separate from the IMAP account that I have as the default.
Plus my spam filter discourages bcc to self since spammers use your address in their from field.
Come on Apple! Lets get this done!
Thanks
Adam

  • How can I turn off auto Bcc to myself on iPhone 4s?

Every time I send an e-mail or reply to an e-mail using my corporate Exchange account on my iPhone 4s, it automatically sends a Bcc to my same Exchange account.  This does not happen when I send from my PC desktop.  Before you state the obvious, I have gone to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar and turned off the "Always Bcc Myself" option, but the issue still persists.
I also have a Yahoo account setup and GMail using the GMail app.

  • Auto-CC to myself or auto forward to own is not working in Q5

    Hi,
This is the first time I m posting in Blackberry community, i hope to get quick response & resolution for the same.
I have recently bought Q5 & major disappointment when i found that i cannot CC myself automatically like we used to do in Bold & Curve phones. Maybe I am not checking well so thot of asking to BB experts.
I want to add auto cc or bcc to myself while sending mail to anyone from Q5, how can this be possible coz i dont find any options to enable it in the phone.
Second issue is Push mail service is not active i guess, as i feel the mail is configured as IMAP which sync from Mail server, as i have multiple places for my email to check, the moment i check email on my laptop i find e-mail on Q5 automatically turns to read from unread unlike the previous BOLD & Curve.
Please guide me thru if i have configured my mails incorrectly or something. I want to get copy of mail on Q5 without sync from server if its read or not.
    I hope this clears.
    thanks

Those functions were provided, for legacy BBs, by BIS...not by the device email app itself. Since BIS is not used for BB10, you are dependent on the functions available via the on-device email interface, which does not presently include them.
But, you did not state your reason for wanting this. With BIS, the typical reason for this was due to the inability of BIS to place, for many email systems, a copy of your email sent from the BB into your email servers Sent Items folder. With BB10, the ability of the on-device email app to do that is greatly enhanced (other than for older POP email servers, which simply do not allow that function). So, if that was your reason for needing the auto cc/bcc, then I would encourage you to investigate further the capability of BB10 email...if your server is not POP and has no special email folder issues, then your device should be able to place copies of what you send from the device into your server-based Sent Items folder, which would remove the need for the auto cc/bcc entirely.

From this description, I do not understand why you feel PUSH is not active. The rest of your description deals with synchronization of read/unread status, which is totally different from PUSH. So I am confused.
As for read/undread, this is WAD -- Working As Designed. With BB10, the ability to now synchronize fully with the server is in place, resulting in the device and the server always being a replica of each other. What you do on the server (read, delete, etc.) will now reflect on the device, with the reverse also being true. With legacy, again BIS was in play to enable this replication for some email environments, but not all. With BB10, the ability to replicate between the server and device is greatly enhanced, resulting in what you are seeing. There is no setting to change...this is how it is designed.

You have not configured anything incorrectly. From all you describe, it is WAD -- Working As Designed. And there are no settings to cause it to work in the manner that your legacy BB handled email (via BIS). Rather, the human must adapt to how this works (fortunately, we humans are very adaptable!).
    Good luck!

  • Auto BCC on BBZ10?

Recently updated to a BlackBerry Z10 Smartphone, and all is well except one problem.  On my old blackberry (Bold) I had the option to setup an Auto BCC (So for every email I sent certain people were automatically BCC'd), and I can't seem to find this setting on the Z10.  I've heard other people say that BB forgot/didn't implement it, can anyone shed some light on the situation?
    Thanks

I migrated from a BB7130e, which I had for a looong time.  I chose BlackBerry because I wanted to retain my extensive list of contacts and my calendar, which I keep in Outlook.  I am disgusted to find that I can no longer sync with Outlook, nor can I bcc myself, and now I find that I cannot leave messages on the server.  My primary mode for email is the PC, and I want all my messages to be downloaded and stored on it.  When I delete the messages from my Z10, they are no longer available to download to my PC.  I guess I need to sync my PC with the server before I delete anything from my Z10.  Makes me wonder why I was loyal to Blackberry.  I guess I need to evaluate the Windows phones.  I still have a week to return this one.

  • ATTACHED IMAGES DON'T LOAD OR SHOW IN HOTMAIL BCCs TO MYSELF

I am currently running FF 3.6.18.
I have never had this problem before.
Worked fine up until Tuesday JUL. 19.
Whenever I send an email to someone w/ attached image files,
I always BCC myself to see that everything went through okay.
As of 2 days ago, the images/slideshow won't load or show up in the BCC to myself - in Firefox.
It says "Loading... If it's taking too long, click here" and if I click that, all I get is the clickable file names - but no actual images.
BUT the attached images DO show up in IE (which I NEVER use, lol).
Several people I've sent images to (in AOL and Yahoo, so far) CAN see the images - but they don't use Firefox.
Is this an MSN / Hotmail problem specifically?
I sent pics to a friend who also uses Firefox - he CANNOT see the attached images in his Hotmail, but he CAN see them in Yahoo.
    I am ... confused. :o
    thank you,
    June :)

I'm having the same problem on multiple computers, and multiple browsers - FF and Safari.
Would be interested to know if anyone has come across a solution to this problem.
Interestingly, it doesn't affect IE, which almost leads me to think that Microsoft have disabled this for use on other browsers on purpose...

  • My ipad/iPod CC/BBC's every mail I send - dont have auto BCC ticked.

I have my Google mail account set to forward all my gmail to my MobileMe account, and it works superbly, I get everything pushed and my calendar etc are in sync. However, when I go to send any mail on my iPad or iPod it CC/Bcc's me in every time. I do not have the auto BCC checked in the settings, and it doesn't double up when using OSX mail, so it has to be something to do with iOS. Any ideas? Ot's driving me nuts as I was hoping to use my ipad to do my mail during the day but can't at the minute.
This even happens when I use the Ovi account I have set up on my ipad, so it cant be the Googlemail settings, it has to be the IOS settings.

  • How do i turn off the auto bcc function on ipad mail? i have turned it off in settings but it keeps happening.

I want to turn off the auto bcc function in ipad mail.  I have done it in settings but it keeps happening.  surely this is a fault or there is an easy way to fix the problem.

I've got options for 2, 5, 10, 15 minutes and Never. Have you got an Exchange email account on your iPad ? 'Never' can be removed so as to protect a company's potentially sensitive email - they may not want the iPad being left/stolen with the emails on it accessible. If you remove the account the Never option will probably reappear

  • I don't receive emails I've cc'd or bcc'd myself on & now am not receiving some legit emails at all

For the past 4+ weeks emails I've sent & either cc'd or bcc'd myself on do not arrive in my Inbox. I see a copy of the emails in my Sent folder but they do not show in my Inbox.

If you logon to your webmail account using a browser and there are no emails getting received, then when Thunderbird connects to server it will not see them either because it is looking at the same folders.
If emails are not getting through to the server, first check to see if you have used up your quota on the server. The server cannot receive any email if there is no room.
In Account settings > Server settings. Check that cleanup (:expunge") is turned on then exit and restart Thunderbird.
Give some time for thunderbird to 'chat' with the server. This should make sure that 'deleted' mail is really deleted amd not using up much needed space.
In thunderbird, if you use your gmail account and send an email to yourself - to the account that is currently not receiving email, do you get a Mailer Daemon email received by the gmail account...it might offer a clue as to what is going on.

  • Need to know how the AUTO BCC feature works on T-Mobile USA

    HI,
am hoping to get an explanation on how the Auto BCC on T-Mobile USA works in the background. I have an 8900 that is setup on exchange using T-Mobile account settings and uses the Outlook Web access email.
When emails are sent from the device, a copy gets sent to the sent items which is fine.  I would like to know that if I use the auto BCC within T-Mobile if those email are being sent from exchange or the Blackberry servers in Canada?  Also will the emails that are forwarded be sent to the sent item of the exchange server?
    thank you in advance

    Hi teckystuff,
Is your email is integrated in your BlackBerry Internet Service account as an OWA account?  If so, when you are sending from your BlackBerry you are still sending from your exchange account. Your device is using the BlackBerry Internet Service to communicate with your exchange account so the BCC sent from your device email integration is still being sent from your exchange email account whether on the device or from Outlook or OWA. Any email you send or forward from your device should be posted to your sent items folder on exchange.

  • Auto bcc on Passport

I am struggling to find out if I can auto bcc for my e mail accounts. I use both IMAP and POP accounts. Is auto bcc available for OS 10 devices?

    welcome
ive never used bcc before but thought it worth a challenge.
    for example
new email, reply or forward email > tap 3 dots bottom right and bcc is in that sidebar menu.
no idea about auto bcc though sorry.

  • Where is "Auto Bcc to Sent Folder" on Q10?

Does anyone know where the "Auto Bcc to Sent Folder" feature is on the Q10?  Would like to have all e-mails composed on the Q10 sent to a specific e-mail address (as was so easily done on previous BB models and operating systems) but I cannot figure out how to perform this simple activity on the Q10.

My Inbox.  I've never had a need with former BB Operating Systems to ever sync other folders (since I was able to Bcc anything sent from my Bold, Curve, et. al.).  Sbcglobal.net's (i.e., Yahoo's) Contacts, Calendar, etc. features are so cumbersome and functionally incapable, I have always used and maintained those items with Microsoft's Outlook (which meant syncing was never an issue using the BB Desktop Manager).  You shouldn't overthink my situation:  I'm a very simple user, with very simple needs, that desires to still have the very simple tools that have always been built into the basic foundation of the Blackberry platform.  I am self-employed (i.e., a "one man company").  All of my e-mail is "work e-mail" (in one form or another).  There is no "enterprise setup" in my case.  As previously alluded to, my self-employment since March 2009 and the manner in which I have conducted business has not been an issue because of the basic complimentary functionalities between Blackberry, Outlook, Yahoo!, and Verizon.  With my most recent upgrade to BB's Q10 (which right now not seems to be anything but an upgrade), a seemingly significant fundamental change has occurred.
