Auto-Brightness and Multitasking

Hi,
Auto Brightness does not seem to do anything? With the setting both off or on, the brightness stays constantly at the single setting chosen on the slider. Where is the ambient light sensor on the 4th gen, and does it even do anything?
Also, multitasking doesnt seem to be efficient. Every program that is exited via using the home key remains in the task manager (double tap home). This seems like a pain as the user has to manually exit each program via this menu?
Thanks for any comments.

It is NOT a multi task bar. It is a recently used apps bar.
All of those apps are NOT running, they have been recently used. You do not need to close them, as most apps do not run in the background.

  • Auto brighteness and reboot problem

When I set my XZ1 to auto brighteness and then switch my phone in standby and turn it on again I nearly can't see anything. All I can do is, hold the display in the sun and then to set the brighteness up.
My other problem is when I reboot my XZ1 it almost takes 2 min to reboot. I think this has something to do with the auto brighteness bug.!?
Would be great if anybody could help me
P.S cause there is unfortunately no german support forum and im from Germany I hope everybody understands what I mean.

There is none yet. We are waiting for the next firmware update.
For now keep rebooting the phone until there is no delay between two logos (sony -> xperia), and everything will be fine. It can take several attempts, but this is everything we can do at the moment.
When everything have failed already, try to read the manual.
Kudos mean I am helpful. Am I for you? Then support me back

  • Why does my iPhone arbitrarily brighten, to the point of decreased resolution, despite my having turned off auto-brightness and setting the brightness to maximum?

    Could be a hardware failure.
Restore the iPhone, first from a backup, then as new, and see if the issue persists. If it persists when you restore as new, then there's a hardware issue with your phone and you need to bring it to an Apple store to be evaluated.

  • Auto Brightness and Notification Sound Problems

It seems after I upgraded to iOS6, my auto brightness as well as the "click" sound when I shut my smartcover is no longer working. Also, it seems as if my notification sounds are not working properly either.  I've checked my settings and everything is on as it should be. Oh, and I'm experiencing this on the new iPad 32GB. HELP!!!!

I, too, am having difficult is with my Galaxy S6 contact specific message tone as well as vibration pattern. I have multiple LED colors for different items. I use the fingerprint for security and no issues there. Sure hope Verizon comes out with an answer soon. Don't like the Samsung message app, but may be forced to use it, so I can signify different vibrations/tones.

  • Optimal Brightness and Auto Brightness

What are you guys finding to work best, the auto brightness and leaving it as it came from Apple (in the middle) or adjusting it yourself..I tend to leave it on full brightness...and I know this impacts battery life, but wanted to see what you guys thought.

I still can't figure out how the whole auto brightness works. you can still set the brightness and then leave auto "on"
So does it just try to automatically keep the brightness "medium bright" if you have it set to medium and "auto" or what? I haven't been able to see any automated brightness adjustments at all. I tried going from a really dark room to a really bright room to see if I could tell if it was auto adjusting. I couldn't tell. maybe I'm doing something wrong.

  • NOT WORKING AUTO BRIGHTNESS FOR IO6

When im turning on the AUTO-BRIGHTNESS nothing happen i'll did all i reset it & erase all the things but nothing happen it just start when i upgrade it in IOS6 HELP SOS

I had the same problem, apparently it works a little differently in ios6, so if your in a dark room turn on auto brightness and set it to your desired brightness for a dark room, and its supposed to remember this setting next time your in a dark room....and when you go out in daylight it will switch back to the brightness you had it set at before you set it for a dark room.. Also once you have set it to the brightness you want for a dark room go outside into daylight and set it to the desired setting for daylight use and I've been told it then detects if your in a dark room and adjusts automaticly and the same if you go into a bright room...I'm trying this, hope it works....

  • The auto-brightness of my iPhone is not working, and my system is really unstable. What is Apple going to do about those bugs?

I would like to know when Apple will fix these terrible bugs of the last software updates. My phone isn't working properly. I'm considering the idea of getting another smartphone...

If your system is unstable, you should consider restoring your device through itunes to get a fresh version of the operating system.
If your auto-brightness isn't working, it's possible that there is an issue with your phone's ambient light sensor which is hardware and not affected by an iOS update
Are you using a case? if so, it's possible that you're using one that was made for an iPhone 4 instead of a 4S which has an ambient light sensor that is a few millimeters to the left, so some iPhone 4 cases could cover it slightly, causing the ambient light sensor to not work as affectively

  • Auto brightness of screen and keyboard backlight not working

Basically, since I updated to OS X Lion, the auto brightness feature for the screen and keyboard hasnt been working, despite the fact I have it turned on
Thanks in advance for your help

Same problem here.  I initially thought the auto-brightness problem had been fixed in 10.7.3, but sadly it hasn't. The auto-brightness works when the Mac starts, but I find it loses control and fails after wake from sleep.
I have telephoned AppleCare several times but they are not aware of this bug.  They think a PRAM reset cures it, but it doesn't.  As soon as the machine goes to sleep then auto-brightness fails on wake.
I have used the Apple Form to report the bug.  It might eventually get fixed if others would kindly report it as well please.  Here is the link:

    Hello,
Same problem for me. Really a pain in the *** this bug ! Does Apple fixed it. I'm really suprised noone reports this problem  and apple does not adress this.
Because of that, I cannot give it anymore to children because it hurts the view. Really a shame on the part of apple !

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • MacBook Pro Auto Brightness, When Does It Detect and Frequency

I have auto brightness enabled.  I frequently manually adjust brightness when watching videos, etc.  I was wondering when does the MacBook Pro auto adjust brightness and/or how often does it auto adjust the brightness?
    Thanks in advance.

Hello, Auto brighness is a great feature on a macbook pro and I use it all the time! Your mac has a build in light sensor so if the light is above a certain level the brighness will go up. You can also enable the automatic keyboard brightness! Just one tip, if you need your battery to last longer on a daily basis, i would NOT enable any of these.
    Flynn!

  • HELP vibrate and auto brightness :(. ios 6

    This is depressing.

    I agree.
What you can do is the following:
    For auto-brightness:
    Go to Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper > Auto-Brightness > Toggle ON/OFF.
    For vibrate:
Go to Settings > Sounds > Vibrate on Ring/Vibrate on Silent > Toggle ON/OFF.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

  • Brightness slider and auto-brightness

Can someone explain how this works?
What role does the brightness slider play when auto-brightness is enabled?
It seems to affect the brightness, but I haven't quite figured it out...
    Thanks,

Probably the zoom feature enabled, double tapping with three fingers will bring back the screen to normal size again in that case.
To find out if the brightness issue is software related, set your device back to factory settings, without using the latest backup.
If the brightness sensor works after that, use the backup to restore from. If the problem is coming back, your backup contained corrupt data.
Also take your protective case or film on your screen off, just to make sure nothing interferes with the sensor.
