Auto-brightness Won't Turn off after Win 8.1 update

I have a Y510P, and I got the Win 8.1 update about a month ago. Since then, my screen auto-dims whenever the average color of the screen is darker than plain white. So every time I am on a website that has a picture (like Facebook), as soon as I scroll to it, my entire screen dims. Also, I cannot watch videos without my laptop being plugged in because the screen is too dark to watch it on.
When my laptop is plugged in, I have no issues. Also, even after the brightness is decreased, it tells me that my brightness is turned up all the way.
I went into the advanced settings in control panel and have auto-brightness disabled, but it isn't helping. I tried accessing the NDIVIA settings to see if it's in there, but all I can access are simple controls, none of which affect brightness.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

this happened to me aswell please help

3G still won't turn off after hitting home and sleep button at same time. Any other ways to try it?

And when you held them neither the red Off slider nor the Apple logo appeared?
If not then your sleep button is broken, you will need to get it serviced.

  • Help!  Ipod won't turn off after disconnecting

Okay I've had my Ipod nano for like 3 weeks. I've used it once. It worked fine when I first got it and after my battery ran out I haven't used it for about a week. When I got it back I hooked it up to my computer and updated the stuff on it as well as let it charge. After is says to safely disconnect, I disconnect it but it automatically turns off and won't turn back on. I've tried resetting it and nothing works. I thought the battery was dead but I've left it plugged in (not only USB on my computer but also tried an outlet) and it never completely charged. I've even left it plugged in overnight (well over the 4 hours it's supposed to charge). I have no idea what to do (It also took like at least a full day to completely charge the first time I've had it)

  • Apple TV won't turn off after 2.2 update

I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem after the new update.
After updating to the new 2.2 software......I am now unable to turn the device off. I used to just hold the center button down for 5-6 seconds and it would turn off. I didn't want to leave it on all the time since I only use it once or twice a week. But now.......doing the same thing has no effect on it at all. Is this happening to anyone else ? I know a lot of people just leave it on all the time, and I guess I could do that as well. Hahaha.......... seems I don't have any choice now. Is this a new feature that comes with the 2.2 software ?

Because of Genius and another feature, the ability to put the AppleTV into standby has changed. Either you can go to the main menu and press Play/Pause for 6 seconds (like you used to, but only works from main menu), or you can go into Settings where there is a new StandBy option that can be selected.

  • Golf Radio won't turn off after reinstalling CK-10...

For some time I've been using my CK-100 but without a switched 12v supply which means that the unit remained on after turning off the ignition but otherwise with no problems.  I've recently bought a new loom and fed the switched 12v from the cig lighter so the CK-100 switches off/on and with the radio being fed from the big multipin plug rather than the speaker outlet with no problems but the radio often doesn't switch off when I remove the key.  During normal operation there is no indication that there might be a loose connection and I have checked them all.  The only thing I can think of is that I also updated the software to v4.5 so I'm wondering if that is causing any problems, does it think that there is a call outstanding although it doesn't mute the radio.
    Any help appreciated
    Phil

    Sorry about the delay, Alan.
It's a possibility, although I'm used to seeing it more with older Symantec security suites rather than just the Antivirus. (For example, NIS 2005.)
The mechanism is two-part. The first part is that if there's an issue with iTunes rules in the firewall, sometimes the iTunes.exe process doesn't shut down after you "close" iTunes. Sometimes it can't even be ended in Task manager.
The second part is that security suites often try to have a component being the last item running in memory before the PC shuts down (because some malware attacks during the shut down procedure. Because the iTunes.exe can't be stopped, it tries to "outlast" that process ... and you get spectacularly slow shutdowns on the PC.
... So we'd better check to see if something like that is afoot ...
Restart the PC (power off?) And launch iTunes. Quit iTunes. Bring up your Task manager. Go to the processes tab. Click the "Image name" header to sort the processes alphabetically.
Is iTunes.exe still running even though iTunes has supposedly been shut down?

  • Display won't turn off after locking.

My 701 running on belle fp1 doesn't turn off the display after locking the phone?
It's just keeps the display always on.
Restarting solves the problem but this is happening again and again.
    Please solve this Nokia.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    No,
I noticed that popclock at the top left yesterday when I pressed the menu key after lock.
Actually I have lot of apps installed on the memory card like games and apps.
After firmware reinstall at Nokia care, I inserted back my memory card and copied all mass memory backup from my pc.
After stating the phone after inserting memory card, phone started to display installing without cancel button and I got back almost all of the apps.
Maybe this is caused the popclock or Nokia bubbles to show and turn the display always on.
Today I had no problem at all.

  • My iPod touch 5th generation won't turn on after the new iOS update

I've just updated my iPod touch 5th generation to the iOS 8.1.1. (or whatever the newest update is) but once it updated, it now won't turn back on. I've tried plugging it into multiple chargers and computers just in case it wasn't charged, and tired turning it on, but all I get is the apple logo and nothing's happening. What can I do? I haven't backed it up this month and I don't want to loose all my stuff. Thanks.

Try the following. It is very likely that the iPod will have to be erased:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
In the future make sure yo backup before updating. I always backup to both iTunes and iCloud before updating .

  • IPhone 3G Won't Turn On After OS 4.0 Update

A little background about my iPhone 3G to help you guys out -- the sleep/wake button hasn't worked in a few months, so if, say, Safari freezes, I let the battery die out to restart my phone. A major pain, I know.
Tonight I decided to update through iTunes to the OS 4.0. It seemed as if everything was going well, but after about an hour of backing up and installing, my phone is now permanently turned off seeming to have never restarted from the update. To make matters worse, it is no longer recognized by iTunes or my PC. As stated, the sleep/wake button doesn't work so a hard reset or restore is physically impossible. Does anyone have suggestions on how to restore the phone back to the previous OS?
I'm currently trying to reinstall iTunes as I type this.

After several hours of various numerical error messages, freezing loop, iTunes not recognizing the 3G, rebooting the computer (iMac), hard resets, etc, I forced it off and went to bed. Today I found that while iTunes still would not recognize the phone as it would normally, it did when I unplugged and then plugged in the phone. The phone was then restored ( 4.0 was obviously installed last night and then went into a loop). I refused backup, restored OS, but did not continue to restore from back up. The phone is now operational and synced via mobile me, however no apps than system. Based on the latter I will not allow iTunes to restore my backup until this problem is resolved. Some of the said apps are used for business, but I have the iPad to sync them with in the interi.

  • System Sound wont turn off after 1.3.1 update

I turn off the System Sounds to not here when notifications come in when I sleep, but I want to be able to here the phone ring when I call comes in...i dont wont to have to mute the whole phone... Is there a problem ticket or a break fix open on this issue...
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I have the same problem.  I could turn off system sounds at night which would stop the e-mail notifications, but still allow the phone to ring.  After the 1.3.1 update, the systems sound slider has no effect.  The only way I can mute system sounds is to turn the ringer switch off which mutes the phone completely.  I contacted Sprint and they have no clue.  And, of course Palm only works during weekdays and normal working hours.  Palm really needs to test updates completely before releasing them.  I note others are reporting similar sound problems under different headings.

  • Orange LED on power adapter won't turn green after 10.4.7 update?

    Hey guys,
this could be independent of the 10.4.7 update, but I've noticed that after the update, the LED does not turn green. The battery seems to charge fully, but the icon says, (Calculating...) and the LED stays orange. (left it like this for a whole night)
So far I've tried to reset the PMU and repaired permissions with no luck. Currently I'm calibrating the battery but I'm wondering whether anyone has had similar issues and whether anyone has a fix for it. Thanks in advance.

Hey there. Have you had any other issues with your battery, ie. not able to fully charge, or shutdowns before the OS tells you power is getting low?
The reason I ask (not to scare you) but this inability for the charger to turn green was the first symptom I saw when my MacBook Pro battery was in the process of dying. It happened about two weeks before things went south for this battery. As you may have read on this board, there was a run of batteries for these machines that have shown some serious problems. Ultimately what happened with mine was that it would get down to about 34% charge, and then the machine would just turn off. The battery also would often not charge all the way up to the green indicator, either.
I am unsure of what else you can try, other than maybe resetting PRAM. Just be on the watch for increased battery flakiness over the next couple of weeks. Not to worry, Apple will replace the battery for you free of charge.

  • My Ipad air won't turn on after restarting during an update

It stopped turning on after I reset midway through an update because the update froze. As in, it stopped completely for four hours.

    Did you try this?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Fans won't turn off after Macbook Pro is shut down

I am posting on behalf of a friend on mine. He has a 1st Gen Macbook Pro Core Duo and whenever he shuts the machine down and the magsafe is still connected the fans keep running even though the machine is off. If he unplugs the magsafe adapter the fans stop but if he plug it back in they start again.
I have tried resetting the PMU/SMU, NVRAM/PRAM and it is still having the problem. He is running 10.4.11 and I checked to see if he had all the latest firmware updates and he does. I even tried re-installing them but it said your machine doesn't need this update.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have a answer for this? Thanks
