Auto caption defaults

I'm wondering if it is possible to change the default
phrasing used in auto captions. For example, auto caption will
write "Click the OK button" but it is our style to write "Click
OK". Rather than having to go around and replace all of them, can I
tell auto caption to use "Click <button name>" somehow? Maybe
it's in an XML file somewhere?

Hi Andy
Sure thing. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the
following location:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 3
Once you are there, you should see some files named like
this:
CaptureTextTemplates_English.rdl
Open the one for the language you want and use Notepad or an
equivalent for the editor. Note that it may be good to make a
backup before modifying these. Just in case.
Once you make the changes, the next time you record the
captions should say what you want.

  • Edit Auto Captions

    I'm surprised that I couldn't find a thread on this topic, so
    here it is.
    Adobe's auto caption text doesn't match my company's style
    book (which is pretty much in line with
    Microsoft's Manual of Style for Technical Publications.
    Therefore, I spend most of my time in Captivate making annoying
    changes to auto-populated caption text. Is there any way I can
    modify the auto text to match my company's style?
    For example, when Captivate captures my clicking OK, it
    creates a text box with the phrase "Click the
    OK button". Well, the company I work for believes that words
    "the" and "button" are superfluous in this context. Therefore, I
    always have to manually change the phrase to "Click
    OK" and then re-size the text box. Also, our style book says
    you don't "select" links, you "click" them. Therefore, every time
    Captivate captures the action of clicking a link, I have to change
    text and resize text boxes. Obviously, I don't want to turn off the
    auto captions, since that would mean creating each text box from
    scratch, which would be even more time consuming.
    Captivate is clearly using a tightly-defined style to
    auto-populate these captions. Is there any way to modify that style
    so I can save all this time editing?

    Hi ericbrettnelson
    Yep, you can certainly change them! Here's how. Crack open
    Windows Explorer and head to the following location:
    Captivate 3:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 3
    Captivate 2:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 2
    Inside the folder you should find several files ending in
    .RDL (RoboDemo Language). Open the one named
    CaptureTextTemplates_English.rdl in something like Windows
    Notepad and you should be able to configure the text as you wish.
    Hopefully this was helpful to you... Rick

  • Auto-Reboot Defaults

    Sorry for the multiple posts... I am trying to find the Auto-Reboot default options. I would like to change the defaults to a set parameter. I am looking at adding a signature to the pop-up message and extending the sleep time from 2 hours to 10 hours. I thought it was attached to the baseline setting but that didn't change anything.
    Can this be changed?

    Hi
    I've been looking for this myself but can't seem to find what you are
    looking for - which is kind of a problem since it would make it a lot
    easier to deploy patches if you did not need to go in and set these
    options on every deployment.

  • Auto Caption not working

    Hi I have been trying everthing but can't get the auto
    captions to work am aware of the rule use Demo or Custom mode. It's
    really anooying, is this a bug or should it work. Vers 3.0.0 Build
    580 can anyone help Rick you seem to have answers can you?????
    Thanks

    Hi again
    You might try resetting your Captivate preferences file.
    Sometimes that fixes things. I've never known it to specifically
    address the issue you are having, but hey, it's worth a shot!
    To reset the file, close Captivate. Now open Windows Explorer
    and navigate to the following location:
    ?DriveLetter?:\Documents and Settings\?UserName?\Application
    Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
    *NOTE: ?DriveLetter? will be whatever drive you have
    Captivate installed on. ?UserName? will be however you logged into
    your PC.
    If you don't see this location or files, it's probably
    because Windows is “helping you out” and hiding them
    from you. To fix that, click Tools * Folder Options * View tab and
    ensure you are Showing hidden files and folders as well as
    DE-selecting the Hide extensions for known file types and Hide
    protected operating system files.
    Rename or Delete the file you should find in this location.
    The file is labeled
    captivate_v30.dat.
    Restart Captivate and give it a try.
    Beyond that, I'm unsure as to exactly why Captivate wouldn't
    automatically insert captions. Unless for some reason it was
    improperly installed. But in that case, I'd think other symptoms
    would present themselves.

  • GRC 10.0 - Auto Approve default roles

    Hello All,
    Could you please help out me in the below scenarios.
         1) We have maintained default roles in NBWC- Access Management - Default roles.
         Also set the parameter 2038 to Yes- Auto approve roles without approver.
    In MSMP we have maintained Escape path if approver is not found at the role level.
    As default roles have no approver maintained request is taking the Escape Path which should not happen.
    We just want to auto approve the defualt roles and other than defualt roles request should take escape path if no approver found.
         2) In other action its quite same as the above one.
         When we are using provisioning type REMOVE for role removal. Request also takes the Escape path as Defualt roles has no approver.
    Once the ,Manager at first stage is approved, request should close for the removal type access.
    Please advise. Thanks in advance.

    In your custom initiator, you need to have mapped out all the scenarios of which path each line item in your request goes to.
    The condition columns can be an array of attributes, i.e. Request Type, Role name, Role Connector (System the Role is in), Functional area etc.
    In your case, if you want "default roles" auto approved, easiest thing to so is create an empty path (i.e. No stages) and have the initiator set so that if the "Role Name" is "X" (i.e. your default role), go to the path with no stages.

  • Auto start default html gallery

    Can I auto start the html gallery (default)?
    Can I not use the thumbs?
    Is there a better Lightroom template to do this?
    bob

    I don't believe that feature is supported in Lightroom's default Flash galleries. You could have a look at SlideShow Pro Lr Plug-in, which is altogether much more powerful and flexible tool for making web galleries and slideshows.

  • Lion's Preview "Auto Rotate" Default: How change it?

    The default appears to be in OS 10.7.2 that Auto Rotate is checked.  If one rarely, if ever, wants to rotate when printing Preview screens, how do you change the default?  Thanks.
    Respectfully, Norm

    We can change the registration point by
    1.  Changing the position of the display object's content (using getChildAt() method).
    2.  Using matrix operations (transform point method).
    [Example for the first one is attached]
    Also you can use matrix operations to transform any display object
    Thease transformations includes:
    Translation (changing the position of the display object).
    Rotation (rotating the display object by an angle)
    Skew (changing the skew of the display object)
    Scale (changing height and width of the display object)
    For more information read help on Matrix class.

  • Human Task Auto Release Default  and configuration question in 11g

    Is there anyway to turn off the auto release feature of a human task if you do not put an expiration date on a task? Also the documentation says the default is 12 hours. If there is not a way to turn off the auto release feature, can the 12 hour default be changed? The documentation is not fully clear to me and then when I look at the UI from the console I do not understand what the identifiers of P5D, P4D, etc mean under the Default Duration column. I get the use of percentage but it is unclear what Default Duration is and how to use that field.
    I saw in 10.1.2 there was a way to turn off the auto release feature of task via restrictedActions but I did not see this in 11g.
    And last question is does anyone know if human task is stored to a database if it runs for too long similar to the concept discussed around bpel processes of hydration and dehydration?
    Thanks,
    Diane

    I am able to fix this issue. After a series of R & D I was able to find that the root cause is %APPDATA%\jdeveloper. Deleting the relevant directory will solve this issue. In fact, I tried to delete the entire jdeveloper directory under %APPDATA% and the jdev 11.1.1.7 form generation issue got resolved. Those who find "referential integrity" issue may follow this approach.

  • Auto Sharpening Defaults Manual Sharpening Setting

    I always thought that Auto Sharpen had a fancy built in algorythm to analyize the photo and apply the appropriate type & amount of sharpening. Here's what the HELP function has to say about it:
    The Auto Sharpen command increases clarity or focus without the risk of oversharpening an image.
    Sounds good. HOWEVER, If I sharpen a photo using Enhance>Adjust Sharpness and then set the degree of sharpening that I desire, it somehow changes the settings of the auto sharpen tool. The auto sharpen tool defaults to using the same setting used by the manual sharpening. I found this to be true in both Version 6 & 7. Here's how I discovered it.
    I had a photo with a lot of motion blur. I used the manual sharpening tool (Enhance>Adjust Sharpness) and played with it a bit. There was too much motion to fix it to my satisfaction, so just for funzies, I set it to maximal values and hit OK. After closing the photo, I opened a new one, did some basic exposure & color adjustments and then used Auto Sharpen. To my suprise, it used the same maximal motion blur settings that I previously set for the last photo, which way oversharpened my photo.
    So this leves me wondering, what does Auto Sharpen do anyway? Does it just remember the last manual sharpening setting and apply it without any analysis of the photo?
    Any words of wisdom out there?

  • Auto clear default text

    I have searched all over to see how this is done. I found one other response to this question, but it was not complete.
    Basically what I am wondering is, how do I set up my text field so that there is a default text to signify what the user should type into the box. When the user clicks the text field, this default is removed so they can begin typing.
    Thank you!

    It is easy...........
    I would use the following code in "Enter" and "Exit" events....
    Let us say the default text in the text field is "Default Text"
    //Enter event JavaScript
    var curText = this.rawValue;
    var defText = "Default Text"
    if (curText == defText) {
    //when the current text is same as Default text clear the box
    this.rawValu = "";
    //no need of else condition as rest of the logic will be automatically taken care.
    //JS Code for Exit event
    var defText = "Default Text";
    if (this.isNull) {
    this.rawValu = defText;
    //again no need of else condition as rest of the logic will be automatically taken care.

  • Can Closed Captions default to "show?"

    Is it possible to have the closed captions automatically
    display when viewing the outputted file, rather than requiring the
    user to click the CC button?

    Hi d_orange
    With Captivate generically? No
    But they can by using a widget you may obtain from fellow

  • Need to auto-select default partners in background

    For an order capture project, we are creating SAP CRM quotes in the background using a BADI and passing in a Sold-To Party and then allowing a sales rep to edit that quote which can eventually become an order in ECC.
    Our partner determination is set up so that when a user is creating the quote, if the sold-to party has multiple related ship-to partners (or bill-to/payer), the system automatically pops up a partner selection dialog box with one of those partners flagged as the default. Since the create is happening in the background, our reps will only see a message at the top of the quote indicating they need to select a Ship-To Party. This is not an acceptable approach.
    We would like to have the process that creates the quote in the background automatically choose the alternate ship-to that is marked as default. If the Sold-To Account has no alternates, the system is able to pick the one available related Ship-To, but if there are multiple, it does nothing.
    Does anyone know we can get SAP CRM to choose the default alternate Ship-To?
    Thanks in advance for any help

    Hi,
    I have requirement to implement COM_PARTNER_DETERM to determine the sales rep for the customer partners. This is fliter dependent BADI. Can some one help me on how to implemene this BADI.
    As per BADI documentation, I have created an source entry-ZBP in COMV_PARTNER_DOR and added the same source as filter in the badi. But the BADI implementation is not getting called when I change the partner . Please guide me

  • Auto-captioning or printing image path in FM doc

    We often have to update a very complex software user's manual with
    lots of screen captures and would like to either:
    a) print (hard copy) a comprehensive list of graphic insets (so we can
    mark which ones need updating).  I can list all of the insets in FM9
    in it's own toolbox, but there seems to be no way to print that (other
    than screen capture of THAT and print, but seems awkward)
    BETTER YET
    b) is it possible to add the name (link) of the graphic inset to the
    actual book (like a caption for each image) so we could print an
    "editor's copy" that would show the name of the linked graphic next to
    each graphic?
    Your ideas appreciated!
    PS:  We are on FM9.0.p196
    PPS:  It seems like Seatechpubs used to have a Caption Manager plugin that pretty much did this, but they discontinued support.... or does anyone now more about this?

    If you generate a List Of References (LOR) for imported graphics,  then you will get the information that you want for option "a".
    Option "b" could be accomplished with a script using FrameScript.
    You also should update your version of FM9.0p196. There have been four patches released. You must install each in sequential order. Many bugs and interface inconsistencies have been fixed in those.

  • Auto Switch Default Audio

    I do not believe it will happen automatically, you could speed it up using NIRCMD and write a bat file for the user to double click on the desktop to change the audio, but not automatically. Personally id go with a KVM set up unless both screens really are needed to display.

    We have an office with a wall mounted TV for meetings and such. The TV is connected via HDMI to the users PC and acts as a mirrored display of their monitor. The monitor has audio output and the TV does as well, currently the TV is set as the default sound device however the user would like the monitor to be the default device while the TV is not on, any suggestions on how to do this?
