Auto correct to automatically change "email" to "e-mail"

Brand new to this group. I have looked at archived material and have not found whether Pages will allow me to do such things as add a hyphen to the word email as I type. Also to automatically capitalize words.
I would appreciate any help.
Thank you.

  • How do I auto-correct "i" to a capital "I" in Mail

When typing in a Mail message, I want to auto-correct "i" to a capitalised "I".  Auto-correct won't allow this as it keeps telling me "The original text must contain at least two characters"
Anyone have any ideas of a way around this?
    Thanks
    Stewart

Thanks Arthur, you are very helpful.
I was hoping that there was a way in the system to do it.  It just seems crazy that something so simple can't be achieved with the sophistication that we call Apple.
Does Apple ever look in here ?

  • Changing email address in Mail

I have to change my @virgin.net email address which I've been using for ages to a @gmail.com one. I'm unsure what will happen if I use the new Mail setup assistant on my iMac - will I then have access in Mail to the two accounts prior to me closing the old one? That would be great.
I also have mail set up on a MacBook which I use when travelling.  Do I just do the same on that?
Any other tips gratefully received but please note I'm not great at this - no jargon please.

You can have more than one email address at the same time.
In Mail Preferences > Accounts, click the + sign and add a new account.
You old one will still exist, even if it does not get much use.

  • I changed email servers but mail is attempting to be sent from deleted email server

We have a new email server so I deleted the email account associated with the old server and then added a new server.  When I try to send an email, it is finding the old SMTP server and attempts to send using that (which of course fails since I no longer have an account there.  I can't find any vestage or reference to my old email server anywhere on my iPhone but it is still finding it.  Help, please?

    Hi Nick,
From your description, I would like to clarify the following thing:
A user with Full Access permission can’t send email from the shared mailbox unless they also have Send As or Send on Behalf permission. Please grant your IT mailbox send as permission or send on behalf permission to check the result.

Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Auto correct still correcting after disabling it globally, any ideas?

I disabled "Correct spelling automatically" in system preferences > Keyboard > Text but it didnt work. Text continues to be corrected when I type. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I had turned off auto-correct in the keyboard preferences, but in Mail all my spelling and grammer choices were grayed out.  The key for me — as Kingoftypos points out — was "For Mail, open a new message/reply/forward. Then go to the Edit menu and scroll down to the Spelling/Grammar."
It would never have occurred to me to open a new message to be able to change the settings.
    Thanks, King

  • Auto correct is making me look like an idiot. I have to go back and psychically spell check my documents now. Is there any way to disable it?

Auto correct on my desktop Mac is making me look like an idiot. After I type it's changing words into other words I never typed and it even pushes words together that I'd typed a space in between in order to create new words that I never typed which make absolutley no sense.
Now after I type a document I have to go back and psychically spell check my entire document the old fashioned way to make sure auto-correct isn't making me look like a clown who can't spell.
Is there any way to disable "auto correct" on the desktop MAC and still keep spell check running?
The amount of messages I've sent out with horribly misspselled words or errrors as a result  is maddening.

  • Stop auto-correction

I'm typing up a spec sheet and its very important the word 'true' stays as lower case in a table. But no matter what I do (I've turned off auto-correction) it keeps changing it to 'TRUE' If I try and undo the whole word gets removed.
Does anyone know how to fix this really annoying bug?

OK, my mistake. Pages was treating the table like a Numbers table and reformatting it. Setting the table's cell format to Text fixed it.

  • How do I add email address to a cell in a Numbers spreadsheet without the appearance automatically changing color and underlining? In Excel, I would add an apostrophe at the beginning which would keep this from happening.

How do I add email addresses in a column without them automatically converting to another color with underscores. I want the text to remain text.

    Hi Sclaire,
Numbers > Preferences > Auto correction.
    Uncheck the indicated checkbox.
Preferences panel image is from Numbers 2.3.
For future questions, please indicate the versions of Numbers and of OS X you are using, as answers will differe depending on this information.

You are writing that in the perspective of having read about it here already. Repeated often enough that you encountered it somewhere in the posts.
Users are flooding in here and don't know any of this. Of course we have to repeat everything endlessly.
Because I like to give precise, understandable and workable answers to repeated questions, and Apple doesn't allow sticky posts here, I created a separate forum which users can consult to look up real answers, and contribute for themselves if they have something valuable to add:

There is a section purely devoted to Pages 5. Add whatever answers you feel will lighten the problems of Apple's 'upgrades'.

    * Where have they acknowledged anything?
** They have barely anything listed, compared to the massive list of deleted features, and nothing but an extraordinarily long time frame considering they created the problems here and now. Apple has not said they will do anything at all about fixing the real issues, the biggest of which is that the new iWork apps break virtually all the work of existing users.

  • How do i change the my sender name that is appearing in my email that's incoming? its correct on my iPhone email and my internet carriers email access site.

How do i change my sender name that is appearing in my email that's incoming? it's correct on my iPhone email and my internet carriers email access site, but not on my imac email. for instance, when someone else gets my email...it says its from "mike Hoak".  I need it to be me (Karen), not one of my random contacts.  not sure how it even happened.

    Hi karen elizabeth I,
I understand that you want to change the full name associated with your email account in Mail on OS X. Here is an article that will help you find this setting and adjust it:
Mail settings you might need from your email provider - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-is/HT1277
This setting can be found by going to your Mail Preferences, then the Accounts tab, then selecting your account. Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

  • When emailing from iPhoto, the recipients address comes up incorrect, even though it is correct in both my email accounts.  How do I edit it?  I have changed it, but the next time it appears it contains the same errors.

When emailing from iphoto with a template, the recipients' address comes up incorrect (a couple of letters are wrong).  The addresses are correct in both my email accounts, including the one I am using for the iphoto email.  I have corrected the address prior to sending the email, but they come up with the same errors the next time I choose them in the iphoto 11 program.  How do I correct thes email addresses?  thank you

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

  • Auto correct email name

When I send an email via iPhone 4 through my Yahoo account, it auto-corrects my name as it appears to recipients in the "From" field.

In the Settings menu, try going into Reset --> Reset Keyboard Dictionary.  This resets all the previous spelling corrections and starts fresh.
