Auto Creating a TOC in RH8 (for FlashHelp) problem

When I opened my RH8 project today and autocreated the TOC, all books disappeared except for the new one I created today. I painstakingly recreated the TOC with 10-12 books and contents, saved frequently, and regenerated the project, displayed it in Flash -- TOC displays OK.  However, when I use the Auto Create TOC option (deselecting the Delete Previous TOC checkbox), it creates a one-book TOC (the one book I added today).  Something seems to be broken with the auto-create TOC function.  Any clues?
Thanks.

Hi there
Awfully hard to say what has happened here without seeing your project first hand. Are you using Folders to organize topics? Is the content purely HTML files or is it content that is linked to a Word document?

  • Creating a TOC or Index for a pdf?

Is it possible to create a word index or table of contens for a pdf that doesn't have one from Acrobat Pro?

Indices or TOC should be created in/from your original document. You can use the bookmarking feature in Acrobat to simulate the function of a TOC.

  • RH8 for HTML: Problem with Multilevel List in published topic(s)

I have discovered that working with the multilevel list and reapplying it (changing a level 2 to a level 1, for example) inserts numerous <span style margin> tags that don't show up in RH design view nor in an IE view of the published content, but the published help renders badly in Firefox (like a "justified" paragraph style that inserts broad spacing between words).
The bad thing is that broad spacing is added to a command where no spaces should be, which looks fine in IE, but renders like this in Firefox:
    sqlplus XBRLDB/[email protected]:1521/ubmatrix
    @C:\xbrl_database\database\Oracle\       verify_registration        _v1_0        _1        .sql
The "source" for published content looks like this:
    <p class="CodeSample" style="margin-left: 24px;">sqlplus XBRLDB/[email protected]:1521/ubmatrix
    @C:\xbrl_database\database\Oracle\<span style="margin-left: 40px;">verify_registration</span>
    <span style="margin-left: 40px;">_v1_0</span><span style="margin-left: 40px;">_1</span>
    <span style="margin-left: 40px;">.sql</span></p>
How do I prevent the <span> tags from getting added to the RH project files? How do I remove them using the RH interface?
Why are they getting added in such wierd places?
PS: I have kept the paragraph style Numlist (which is how I define numbered procedures). I just apply the multilevel list to paragraphs tagged with this style. It's been working OK, except for the newly discovered problem above.
I'm using Verdana family and the numbers look good. I've only looked at the published HTML which looks like this: I
    <p class="Numlist">1<span style='font:6.0pt "Times New Roman"'><font size="1" style="font-size:6pt;">        </font></span>Do this</p>
looks like this in a broser view:
    1 Do this
Is this the 'expected' HTML code for numbered procedures (all this to precede a paragraph with a number), or is there a more efficient way to render numbered/mutilevel lists?

    Hi there
I just created a small video that may be helpful for this.

  • Auto Create TOC

I'm using Adobe RoboHelp 9.0.2.271. I'm using the Auto Create TOC feature but my table of contents is created in the manner the topics were added to the system, not alphabetically. According to "help", when I use this feature, it should be created according to the chapter layout defined in the Project Manager (copy / paste below from help).
Automatically create a table of contents based on the chapter layout defined in the Project Manager pod. If you automatically create a table of contents, books and pages are sorted alphabetically.
I have the A-->Z button selected in the Project Manager pod, and when I view the topics there, they are in alphabetical order but the TOC is not created in that manner.
    Any ideas?

  • Can't auto-create TOC!

Hi. I'm a noob with RH, and I'm following both our hastily-written internal instructions and the online Help for RH (both of which say basically the same thing in this case). TCS 1.0 on WinXP.
I imported the FM book (right-click > Add FrameMaker File > By Reference). I did a bit of minor tweaking. Then I went to make the TOC. (I did not create it when I first imported the FM files.)
I expanded the Table of Contents item in the Project Manager pod and double-clicked the existing TOC entry (named "<book> (Default)" where <book> is the name of the document). The TOC pod opens.
At this point the Help says to click the "Auto-create TOC icon." I don't have that icon! There's one that looks very similar, but the tooltip says "Insert TOC Placeholder." That opens the "Insert TOC placeholder" dialog that doesn't seem to do anything. (Nothing happens when I click "View." There's nothing listed under "Used in following Table of Contents." And when I click OK it says "Cannot insert into same Table of Contents.")
What the heck is going on? Why can't I create a TOC?

This one should probably go into the Framemaker Integration section - usually you use the TCS to create the index and TOC over in FM and then pull them both into the RH project - that's the whole point to having the TCS. There's a nice conversion settings dialog that appears when you tell the project to go fetch the FM book.
If you've gotten in this far and don't want to start another project, you're left with manually creating TOC entries and linking them to topics. Look for icons in the TOC pod that talk about adding topics or some such (sorry, I don't have my RH open right now). You'll have to browse to find the topic you want in the add new TOC entry.
    Hope that helps somewhat,
    Jeff

  • Auto-create delivery for multiple sales orders

I would like to ask how to create auto-create 'single' delivery
for multiple sales order during release sales order in R11i.
It is found in my example during release sales order, multiple
sales orders fulfill release sales order criteria, a single pick
slip is generated but it is found that each sales order have
individual delivery with it. It will casue multiple pack slips
for a singles pick slip. Is it normal feature for auto-create
delivery, or any setup to solve it?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Best approach to creating a TOC for product catalog using data merge

What is the best approach for creating a TOC for a product catalog (over 1,000 items) using Data Merge?
The TOC would contain the product Categories.
So for example, Category A items could go from pages 1 - 3, and Category B items would start at pg 4, but if new items were added to Category A, then Category B may start from pg 6.
From the Data Source, there are 5 Data Fields I've chosen to be displayed.  If this were a regular digital print document, I could use the Paragraph Style method for creating a TOC, but if I make any one of the Data Fields a certain Paragraph Style and use that for the TOC, it'll populate the TOC with that Data Field for all the items.
    Any suggestions?

    Peter Spier wrote:
TOC is not interactive in the ID file, though it can be in a PDF that you export (there's a checkbox to create PDF bookmarks). You might want to think about using Cross-references (rather than hyperlinks, I think) to build the TOC. You have to do it manually, but once done it should maintain itself, whereas a TOC is built automatically, but must be regenerated after you edit the doc.
One caveat witih TOCs created from cross-references: Although changing the text of an x-ref source paragraph (for example from "Patatas and tamatas" to "Tomatoes and Potatoes,"and/or when the source paragraph flows to the next or previous page) update automatically or when invoking "Update cross-references," MOVING a cross-reference source paragraph to a location before or after another source paragraph, does not change their sequence in the pseudo-TOC. You'll need to manually move the reference in the pseudo-TOC to the correct position in the sequence of cross-refs. So, put the task of checking the order of x-refs in the pseudo-TOC on your before hand-off check list.

  • Auto create vs manual TOC

Is there an easy way to change an auto generated TOC to a
manually created one. I'm coming into a project that has the TOC in
alpha order, but I want to change it to be more functional.

Hi writerrh and welcome to our community
As Leon correctly pointed out, you are free to rearrange your
TOC as you like. But I'll also offer the following points that many
    seem to be confused about.
    * Just because you created a TOC automatically doesn't mean
it's forever an automatically maintained TOC. Many folks have this
mistaken belief. Think of it as a one time shot that instructs
RoboHelp to gather together all the different topics and folders
and create a TOC out of them. Once it's done, that's it. Adding
topics later does not automatically include them in the TOC.
    * Some folks believe the TOC absolutely MUST have every topic
referenced. This is seldom the case. You may have tons of topics
that never see the light of day from the TOC.
    * Some folks believe deleting a topic from the TOC also
deletes it from the project or causes it not to be included in the
output. This is also a fallacy.
Hopefully this helps a smidge... Rick

  • TOC not generated for FM9 book linked into RH8

    Hi all,
I have a book, originally authored in FM7.2 and imported into FM9, that is linked into a RH8 WebHelp project. I can't get a TOC generated from the FM TOC within RH8 as advertised.
The book has a TOC with two levels: chapterTOC and section1TOC, e.g.,
      1. My First Chapter...........1
          Introduction..................1
          More About That..........10
          And So On..................90
The chapterTOC style uses a font that is both bolded and larger than the section1TOC style, and section1TOC is indented, as can be seen. So I'm expecting good things from RH8 re the TOC, because this is apparently all that is needed for RH8 to correctly parse the TOC.
In RH8, I linked the book into the project, right-clicked on the book file, checked the "Convert FrameMaker [TOC]" checkbox, and gave "TOC1" as the name of the new associated TOC. Edited the properties of the WebHelp layout so that the TOC used was TOC1. Right-clicked on the book file in the Project Manager and chose "Generate". TOC1 was empty, so I click "Generate Primary Layout". When that's done, the TOC is still empty.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    -Adam

An update: the TOC entries are recognized if the styles are formatted in Times New Roman. It turns out that if the font weight has the choices "Regular" and "Bold", then the TOC style is recognized. If the font has choices for weight of "Light", "SemiBold", or "Bolded", the TOC entry is ignored. Hence TOC styles that use Times New Roman work, and styles that use fonts like Elephant and Bookman Old Style do not.
    Good times.

  • How do I get iTunes to auto-create a folder for newly added music?

I used to add files into a new folder (literally named "New Folder"), play the songs from the folder (not iTunes), and iTunes would create a new folder appropriate for the artist and album, moving the songs to that new folder. Anyone know how to turn this feature on?

This feature is usually called "Watch Folders", and iTunes doesn't have anything like that.

  • Auto numbering in TOC tags

I am creating books that use auto numbering in the headings.
    For example:
    1.0 Introduction
    2.0 First chapter
    2.1 First topic
    2.2 Second topic
    2.2.1 Sub topic 1
When I generate the TOC, the numbers do not appear. I do not see any information in the User's Guide.
    I am using Framemaker 7.2.
    Any suggestions?

Go to the Reference Page(s) in the TOC file and scroll down until you find the collection of variables that generate the TOC contents. It'll look something like:
    openObjectId <$relfilename>:<$ObjectType> <$ObjectId>
    <$paratext> <$pagenum>
    <$paratext> <$pagenum>
    <$paratext> <$pagenum>
Each one of the lines is the format for a tag that should be included.
Scroll up and down to identify the tags that you want have display numbering.
Type in the para numbering variable, like this:
    <$paranum> <$paratext> <$pagenum>
Save the file and update the book....

  • PO CNV: Auto-Create POs from PUR Reqs generated by OM

Objective: Convert open sales orders and maintain the link to the purchase order for back to back and drop shipment sales orders?
Question: Is it possible to convert the sales orders first.  Then run requisition import to create the purchase requisitions in the PO module.  After the requisition lines are created, convert the purchase orders through the open interface table or an API by auto-creating the PO from the requisition lines?  This would maintain the link between purchasing and order management.
If this is not possible, does anyone have any suggestions?  Someone mentioned using BPAs (this assumes I can assign items to specific suppliers).
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
After creating a PR, why you want to go thru open interface.
There is a standard functionality : AUTOCREATE, available , which will convert the PR to PO.
On PO Shipment level, you can view the SO number & Line Number also.

  • How do I create multiple TOC's (Tables of Contents) in one Pages document?

I'd like to have multiple TOC's (Tables of Contents) in one document. This is useful for me because I'd like to have a TOC for the regular chapters, then a TOC for the procedures, then a TOC for the tables in the document (it's a tech manual that I am writing). How can I do this? Thanks for any help you can render, and have a nice day!

    fruhulda wrote:
If you haven't used a paragraph style it can't create a TOC but you get the blue box with the message.
    Paragraph used.
It has nothing to do if there is one main TOC or several smaller TOC to do.
It isn't true that you can only have one TOC in a document. Use styles for your titles and headings. I do and it works fine without section breaks.
You also need to tick which tile and heading you want in the TOCs in the Document Inspector > TOC
    Did that.
Thanks to Yvan's quoting from the User Guide, I see where it says each TOC only indexes the material up until the next TOC. Since I had them follow each other, that is why they had no content.
Still it defeats the objective of indexing different material throughout the document if all you get is what is between the TOCs.

  • Auto Create service order from incoming email

    Hi,
We have a requirement that we want to create service order with a default transaction type automatically from an incoming email. Also we want to route this service order to a specific service group on creation an above.
How can we handle this? I know we can create a rule policy with an action to auto create a service order. My question is how do we set up that this service order is of a particular transaction type and has the default routing to the specific service group..
    Thanks
    Dan

    Hello Dan,
You can specify the transaction type (for ERMS auto-created Service Orders/Tickets) via IMG configuration. In transaction CRMC_ERMS_SM_PROF you select the DEFAULT service manager profile and open the folder "Indirectly Called Services". Then you can specify the transaction type for each of the relevant service IDs: AH_CREATE_SO and AH_CREATE_SR.
    Best regards,
    John
