Auto-Cropped Video

I've imported video which appears to be just fine in my projects window. However when I drag it up to "current" project window I notice it's automatically cropped
How can I retain all of the video before I export it?

I thought so. You posted in the iMovie 08 discussion. Your symptoms sound like a stabilization problem. But that feature is only in iMovie 09. You could turn off stabilization.
If you need stabilization, here are some additional tips:
1) Bring in short clips. The longer the clips you bring in, the more it will have to zoom.
2) Make sure you do not bring in a clip that includes a red squiggly line. Select frames that may approach the red squiggly lines, but do not include them.
3) If you must have a clip which includes a red squiggly, turn off stabilization for that clip.
4) If you have a clip that is zooming in too much, you can decrease the zoom with the slider in the clip inspector.
5) Setting the thumbnail slider to 1/2 second can be helpful for getting all the usable frames up to where the red squiggly starts.
Also see the iMovie Help on Stabilization.
If you have not analyzed the video for stabilization, then it could be something else. If your footage is 4:3, but your project aspect ratio is 16:9. then you can go to the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns tab of the inspector and toggle between Crop and Fit. Crop will make a 4:3 frame fit by chopping off the top and bottom. FIT will make it fit by adding black bars (letterboxing).
Note: If your footage is 16:9 and your project aspect ratio is 16:9, then Fit and Crop look the same.

  • Motion auto-cropping videos?

I'm fairly new to Motion, and have been working on a series of screencasts. I've had no problems for the most part until recently. I have my screencast saved in my work folder and its duration reads 01:27. Great, but when I look at it in the Motion file browser, I see a file that is only 00:26. Upon importing it, nothing changes - I can't expand it or anything, only the first 00:26 of my screencast is there. Playing the 01:27 version in Quicktime works fine though.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What is the format/codec of your screen cast and what program did you use to record it. Motion only wants editable formats. It has real issues with H.264 or MPEG-4 or other "delivery" formats.

  • Auto crop 16:9 into 4:3

If I import a 16:9 video (shotten by a canon LEGRIA FS406) premiere pro auto crops it to a 4:3 format. But if I import a random 16:9 video premiere don't crop it. Does anyone know why and how to fix it?

What does the interprete footage  (project panel) say about the clip.

  • Imovie 09 How do I stop Imovie from auto importing video from iphoto

Imovie 09 How do I stop Imovie from auto importing video from iphoto.
Hi I've done a lot of searches on how to do this but no answers found.
Imovie is beginning to become really slow because of the large number of video's. It takes 3 minutes to startup. Editing is sometimes slow lot's of spinning beach balls e.t.c.
I would like to only import the video I want to edit and hopefully get a quicker Imovie in the process.
My Iphoto library is about 95 Gbyte in size.
My mac has 4 gb ram and I use the internal disk.
Any other ways to work with Imovie/Iphoto are also welcome.
    regards

I won't get iMovie 9 till Tuesday, but based on what you said I may need to take some precautions. One reason I didn't like iMovie 8 is because it automatically imported everything in iPhoto library. What I'm going to do is create a new iPhoto library before importing the photos/videos from the camera. Or if you already have it in your main iPhoto library copy only the photos you'll use in your iMovie 9 project to the new library. Then start iPhoto while pressing the option key which will allow you to select the new iPhoto library you have created. Then I suppose that when you start iMovie 9 it will automatically import only the photos/videos from the new library.

  • How can you auto-accept Video Calls in Messages.app

In Ichat there used to be a way to select a user and under "alerts" (which is no longer a perference option in messages) choose to auto-accept video calls from that person.
Is there a way to set up Messages to auto acccept video calls? It was great for when I wanted to check in on my puppy.
    Thanks!

    HI,
In the normal setting of Messages this is no longer possible.
I would use here to ask for the feature back
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ichat.html
The page was never very good at keeping up to date with iChat version numbers so type your specs into the Free Text area.
It might be possible to copy the AppleScript that did this  and make a copy and remove the non Video bits  and use it from the Dock.

  • Is there any way to prevent Aperture from Auto Cropping an image?

Is there any way to prevent Aperture from auto cropping an image? I use the "Do Not Crop" aspect ratio often and Aperture constantly picks cropping aspects for me, which is driving me crazy. Can I set "Do Not Crop" as the ratio I want on a more permanent basis anyhow? Thanks for the help.
    Chris

This is a current bug.  Please report it via "Aperture→Send Aperture Feedback".
Just to clarify, the problem is not auto-cropping, the problem is the the crop tool aspect ratio is arbitrarily set (in my case, always to something close to the current crop aspect ratio).  You can reset it (on a per-crop basis) to "Do not constrain".
    It is very bothersome.
You might try trashing your prefs.  Details on the Trouble-shooting page.  I have had the bug return more than once.

  • How to crop video using ROI

    Hello,
Would some one please help me?
I have a loop which continuously aquire images from a camera and saves it to a video . I would like to crop a region of this video by passing the co-ordinates of a rectangle. After I have the cropped video, I would like to do a intensity profile of the whole video and display it using a single graph ( intesnity changes for diffferent frames in the y axis and the the number of the frame in x - axis.
    Joyce Joy

    Hi,
You can implement image cropping following the example:
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-11222
You would have to programmatically generate the ROI rectangle if you do not wish to have user interaction in the code.
I am not quite sure what kind of intensity profile you want, but here is a good example that performs it along a line, so you could just build an array of those and plot it.
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-20840
    Hope this helps!

  • Photos get auto-cropped and ken burns. stop it.

Trying to do a stop motion. don't need the photos to movie. Cant get imovie to stop auto cropping and ken burns-ing the photos on import from iphoto. Would be fine, but i can't bulk adjust them either, tired of going through frame by frame and putting it back to fit. help.

When you start a new project, or to change a project you are currently working on, go to FILE/PROJECT PROPERTIES, and you can change the default behaviour for initial photo placement from Ken Burns to either FIT or CROP. Crop will make the photo fit the frame exactly by cropping off the top abd bottom. FIT will make the entire photo fit by letterboxing.
If you make your photos have the same aspect ratio as your project (either 16:9 or 4:3), then FIT and CROP produce the same result, and nothing is lost from the photo.
The FILE/PROJECT PROPERTIES will only change photos that you add going forward.
To change a bunch of photos that are already there, change one photo using the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tool. Then, with the photo still selected, EDIT/COPY.
Now, select all the photos you want to change by holding down the Command Key as you click, so you can select multiple photos.
    Now, click EDIT/PASTE ADJUSTMENTS.../CROP ADJUSTMENTS.

  • Auto Cropping

Want to crop two individuals out of photo and end result be 4 x 6. Using auto crop the resolution is too small - using auto crop and entering 300 for resolution the image does not print 4 x 6. I need to know/learn how best crop out objects and be able to print them clearly - Thanks!

    Lori,
I do not know what "auto crop" is...
My recommendation would be for you to use the Rectangular Marquee tool, set
to a 4x6 aspect ratio, to establish the portion of the original image you
want to retain. Then click Image > Crop to crop to the selection. Then use
Image > Resize > Image Size to adjust the resolution, if required.
Using the Crop Tool it is possible to get similar results, but it does
several things at once, and you don't get to control them all.

  • Photoshop CS6: Auto Crop and Straighten work wrong (EDIT)

    Hello together,
I use the Creative Cloud for Students (German) and have make for some days an update of my programs like Photoshop CS6.
Since today the option of automatic crop and straighten makes some big problems.
    Edit:
    I make following Steps:
1.) Duplicate the level and make the first level invisible.
2.) I use the crop tool to mark the details which I want to have free.
3.) Click on the mask symbole in the level section
4.) At the end I click "auto crop and straighten"
It makes 39 little pics out of one. This isn't what I want to do and it is since the last update.
    --> Edit end.
I hope someone understand my problem and can help.

Since your question asks "Could we ..." I would like to state that "we" cannot do such a thing. "We" here in this forum are Lightroom users, and not Adobe employees. If you'd like to make a request for a specific new feature in Lightroom, there is a link right here on the front page of this forum to the proper place to make feature requests.

  • White lines around cropped video QT Pro

When I crop videos with a mask white lines appear on the top and bottom of the video when viewed full screen.

    Yep.
They probably do and this has been reported since the first version of QT 7.
It seems to only appear in "full screen" mode and is an issue with the mask track shifting one pixel "down" and one pixel to the "right".
The only workaround I've found is to avoid using the pixel "correct" size for any mask layer.
Since the mask track layer can't be adjusted (Movie Properties) you'll have to experiment with sizes.
I use GraphicConverter ($30) to make my masks from a still image from the source file.

  • Auto crop object that is too large during export?

Is there an option that I can choose to auto crop emitters during export? So that my export doesn't stop and wait for me to click the "ok" pop-up window before continuing?
    Thank you!

Thanks I'll try that. Also I found out the pop-up windows don’t actually stop the exporting process. They were a warning that the image was going to be cropped during export. They were, and it finished… so everyone is happy.
    Thank you for your advice.
