Auto-Dial from SIP phones after Interdigit Timeout

I have a customer that needs to have their phones automatically dial a particular number if no digits are pressed after 10-15 seconds.  We are accomplishing this right now with our SCCP phones by having a blank translation pattern that points to an ambiguous hunt pilot.
For example, we create a blank translation pattern that translates to a HP with number 300.  We also create a HP with number 3000.  The translation pattern is triggered, but because 300 is ambiguous (the call could possibly be destined for 300 or 3000) CUCM waits for the interdigit timeout before calling 300.
This works beautifully for SCCP phones.  Unfortunately, it does not work for our SIP phones.  Does anyone have any suggestions to make this work?  SIP dial rules trigger immediately, so I'm afraid we haven't been able to leverage those.
Thank You!

Thanks for your comments, but I'm afraid you guys are missing the issue.
Chris, you are correct that you can get a SIP phone to auto-dial a number via SIP dial rules.  The problem is that it triggers immediately.  I need the SIP phones to wait.
Here's a scenario - SCCP phones are in use all throughout a nursing home.  Residents are told that they can simply knock their phone offhook if they need emergency help.  If they don't dial anything within 15 seconds, their phone will automatically call into the local emergency oncall nurse.  Sorta an "onstar" emergency help line for an old folks home.  We definitely can't have that rule triggering immediately though, as residents would never be able to place a normal call, and there would be no way of distinguishing the emergency calls from the guy who is just trying to call for pizza.  :)
This function works perfectly with SCCP phones - while they trigger the blank translation pattern immediately, CUCM doesn't actually begin dialing because there are multiple potential matches for what the translation pattern is dialing.  SIP phones do not do this, however.  If you have the SIP dial rule applied, it always triggers immediately, and it does not wait to see if callers give any input.
Thanks for any further suggestions you might be able to offer!

  • Deleted contacts from my phone & they auto deleted from other phone. How do I get them back?

Just updated my iPhone 4 and my GF's iPhone 4 to the new OS, we share the same Apple ID and subsequently linked both phones to the same iCloud account (I will be using separate clouds from this point forward). However, after the update all of her contacts where in my phone so I deleted all of them and due to the cloud they all deleted from her phone.
So, I have previously backed up (not just synched) her phone to iTunes but I was hoping for clarification on exactly to restore her phone from iTunes and recover all of her contacts. Can you please give me the “dummy” proof steps on how to restore her phone and get her contacts back? Please and thank you in advance.

  • Can't get video from SIP phones

    Hi,
I'm currently running CallManager 6.0.1, and I have enabled phones with IP Communicator on SCCP, and phones with X-lite on SIP. Video calls wonderful between IP communicator phones, and even H323 clients, but when I place a video call using X-lite, on the client it says that it doesn't send any video. I currently configured these phones as Basic SIP phones, so I will try changing them to Advanced SIP phones, but I don't see any options to enable voice on these type of devices.
Is there any trick on these devices? Any input is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

For this one it just turns out that I needed to create it as an Advanced SIP Client instead of Basic

  • Auto dial fails unless phone is muted

I can repeat this consistently: if I have an autodial string set up for a phone number, it will fail if there's any background noise -- for example, if I'm in my car, exactly the place where I want the phone to autodial without my intervention.
The workaround is to mute the phone during the dialing sequence, which is 100% effective in fixing the problem.  However, it thwarts the whole idea of being able to voice dial a number with an autodial sequence safely, since I have to make sure my phone is unlocked, then initiate dialing, then hit Mute -- and since I use this most often for concalls, I then have to unmute long enough to say my name.  There are timing issues all through this process that require my constant attention: a very bad thing when driving.
The fix seems to me to be relatively simple: the phone should mute the mike when it's sending tones.  I can't imagine any reason the mike should be live during that point.
Has anyone else seen this?  Would you say my asessment is correct?  If so, how do I make this request for enhancement to Apple?

Your problem is being most likely being caused by a corroded joint or crimp connecter, probably in the street cabinet or the pole (if you are fed from one).
The corrosion creates a high resistance connection and impairs the broadband and the phone. This manifests itself as crackling on the phone.
When the phone is off the hook, it allows current to flow through the corroded joint. This breaks down the high resistance connection, and allows a better broadband connection.
This does not last long, as once the current flow stops, when you replace the phone, the resistance soon increases again, and you are back to square one.
There were a large number of crimp connectors which were used on the external network, which allowed moisture ingress, causing corrosion. Many of these have now been replaced, but there are probably thousands of them out there in the external network, many of which, give no trouble.
The replacements are filled with a gel, which prevents moisture ingress, and these are now fitted as a matter of course, when noise faults are reported.

  • How do I dial from embedded phone number

with smart phone when on a website that displays a phone number I am unable to call directly without copy/paste number into phone app. is there a way to bypass this step?

Come on, that is a weak excuse. You need to be at least as user friendly as the competition or you'll be left behind. Both Chrome and Opera for Android have this feature working, without the website using the tel:// protocol.
Putting the blame on the website is weak when other browsers do it flawlessly.
I've been using firefox on my GS3 for the last 2 months to test it out, and while I really liked the syncing btw the desktop and phone app, I finally got tired today of not being able to simply tap a phone number in the browser to have it instantly called. So I did a search of found all those "No, we won't do it" answers from firefox devs. And I see that not much has changed in Firefox development team, as arrogant as ever, denying features every common users asks for, simply because the devs have a different vision that is never user-friendly-oriented(in this case, even putting the blame on the website!).
What do you think is easier for us, real users. Write an emails to the millions website not using the tel protocol, or simply removing firefox and using chrome or opera, both working flawlessly with phone numbers on every webpages?
Yep, you figured it out, - bye-bye firefox on android.

  • Auto dialer not calling out

    Hi
I have a water alarm that I can connect to my BT phone line.  It will call the programmed numbers if there is a water leak.
However, I can't get it to call out using my BT phone line.
I have taken the devie round to a friend's house and tried it on their phone line - it works perfectly.
I live in a flat (as does the friend I tested it with).  I have also tried it in another flat in the block who has a BT line and it also didn't work using theirs.
    I have broadband from PlusNet.
I can make and receive calls perfectly using my phone - it is just the auto dialer that doesn't work.
Can anyone help?  Could there be a problem with my line that is stopping the auto dialer from working.  Maybe it dials the numbers too quickly for my line - although it does work at my friend's place.
    Many thanks
    rigby44

The dialler must be set to use tone dialling and not loop disconnect.
Loop disconnect will quite often fail if the circuit has broadband on it, as the broadband filters distort the DC pulses.
Loop disconnect will not be supported on the future 21CN phone network, and manufacturers have been told to phase it out.

  • Just got U-verse today, how do I set up speed dialing on my phone, I had it with the ATT service, but it does not work with the UVerse

OK - I looked at the manual & see they made it major project. Instead of simply assigning tel numbers to each of the dialing digits, you have to build a directory record first, then you can assign the directory record to a dialing digit.
Looks like the simple part is using it  - just press and hold the digit to dial the whole number.
So, it will take 40 minutes or so to break down the steps in understandable prose. It is too late to start now & i have a vet appointment in the am. All day is kind of full. But, I will try to do it tomorrow (thurs the 18th)

Seemed like there should be a speed dial, so I did  a search & found the cure is worse than the disease -
