Auto-Display of Navigation Panel

I'm frustrated with searching help for the answer to my question - certainly someone out there can point me in the right direction!
I'm a novice using Acrobat Pro 9.  I've created a pdf from a Word Doc and have added bookmarks to navigate to the chapter titles.  It's beautiful, it works fine, but what I want now is for the bookmark nav panel to automatically display when this pdf is opened.  How can I make that happen?
Thanks

You can force the linked PDF to open in Reader or Acrobat. That way the bookmarks panel will always be open.
I don't remember the exact steps (not hard tho) but you do need FTP access to your web site.
If you have a sub. to Lynda.com, I show how to do it in the third video in chapter 9 of my Acrobat 9 Tips & Tricks title:

If you don't have a sub, signing up at http://lynda.com/idsecrets will get you a free pass for a day.

  • Display of Key Figure's Names in the Navigation Panel

    Hello all,
Is anyone know how to display the key figure's names list in the navigation panel, as in that eLearning presentation –
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d049b14f-775c-2a10-9ea2-9d670feaf2fe

I didn't know it is possible until I saw that link.
    Thanks!

    Hi Ron,
I know, are passed 3 years to your post but I'm searching the same answer to your question, have you found it?
    Anyone can help me?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Displaying PDF within Browser, but disabling Toolbars and Navigation Panel

I am currently working on the site for the University of Oregon Undergraduate Council, and my boss wishes me to disable the Toolbars and Navigation Panel that display when users open a PDF, as she finds them "distracting". Although I think this is a bad idea, is there a way to input code which would automatically hide or disable the use of Toolbars within a browser window? I know that users can disable these themselves via F8 and the like, but if anyone knows a way to disable (or more preferably, automatically hide) these without work on the part of the user, that would be most appreciated.

I don't know if a PDF is able to tell Acrobat what to do (or any other viewer from a different vendor) but, if it is possible, you might check the Acrobat Scripting Forum http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?13@@.3bbedaa6

  • Navigator panel display not accurate representation.

I've just tried my hand at converting a photograph to a simulated oil painting.  The final step was to select Filter>Texture>Texturizer.  I then faded that adjustment (Ctrl Shift F) to achieve the degree of texture I desired.
I then noticed that the Navigator panel display a much stronger and harsher amount of texture.  I'm using a dual monitor setup and I first assumed that the difference was between the monitors.  But, I drug the navigator panel over to my main monitor and it was the same there.  When I printed the photo it was OK, but I hesitated printing it, not being sure which was the correct display.

    Navigator
Anyone else have this problem? Is this difference normal?

    Hi John,
Just out of curiosity I tried following your footsteps and found that with OpenGL turned off the effect levels visible in the main window and Navigator palettes seem about the same.  But with OpenGL on I believe you could say that the Navigator window there was a larger difference.  Knowing what I know about OpenGL resampling (and guessing Adobe enables the highest quality resampling), the main window, when zoomed to other than 100% is probably the better representation of the actual effect level in the image.
    Screen captures below...
    OpenGL Turned Off
    OpenGL Turned On
So I guess you could say what you're seeing is typical.  Given that the Navigator panel is mostly for seeing where you are in the image I guess it's nothing to worry about.
Did your print come out looking just like you expected per the main editing window?

  • Navigation panel not displaying correctly

    Hi!
I've had this acrobat 9 pro problem for a few months but it's finally gotten to me - information displayed in the navigation panel (IE - layers, bookmarks, examine document etc) do not display properly. I can't really describe it, so here are some screen grabs. I've tried resetting the navigational pane but to no avail.
Is this an issue that has come up before? How can i resolve it?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Zootbot,
Please try updating to the patch 9.5.5 and check.
I have seen such an issue on Mac Mavericks but again that's not a supported environment for Acrobat 9

  • Navigation Panel Pages button not displaying thumbnail pages

Version of Acrobat = Standard 8.0.0
    OS = Win XP SP2
    Networked Dell Optiplex 620
    61.6GB Free disk space
    No error messages
The Navigation Panel Pages button will not display pages in thumbnail format.
When clicked the highlight around the button icon changes from a square with rounded corners, to just rounded corners on the left of the highlight. The right hand side of the highlight is cut off straight as if by the thumbnail panel that isnt visible.
This behaviour is also repeated on the Bookmarks and Signatures buttons in the navigation Panel as well.
Fiddling around with all the navigation panel settings or the document settings I can find has not made the thumbnail pages reappear.
I havent been able to access the Updates section of the Adobe website today to apply any relevant updates.
    Cheers.

Just in case, I would go through the updates to get AA8.1.2 and check if that was a bug in 8.0.0.

  • How can you display only one artboard in the Navigation Panel?

I would like to be able take advantage of the Navigation Panel as a thumbnail view of the artwork I am illustrating. The Adobe Illustrator file has 5 art boards. Is there an option in the Navigation Panel to view the art board I am working with, alone?

    > That could work if all of the group items were the same size.
Why would that matter? Each GroupItem has its own controlBounds, height, width, position properties. Each Document has its own height, width, pageOrigin properties. The script would reference those properties to position the Group in the center of the document.

  • RoboHelp HTML Version 10 - Navigation panel not displaying in published project

We are generating a WebHelp project in RoboHelp HTML Version 10 and the navigation panel (TOC, Search, etc.) is no longer visible in the index file (viewed locally) and it's only visible by clicking "Show" when viewed in a web server. This issue is occurring with Internet Explorer 11 and Google Chrome Version 39.0.2171.99 m. I also tried to view the index files of previously generated projects and am experiencing the same issue (this did not occur before). Is this a known issue? It appears that there a few other discussions posted recently experiencing similar issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nikki

    Hi there
Sorry, but I'm a bit confused. What you are describing sounds like perfectly normal behavior.
Can you share a link where this is happening? Not so we can click it, but so we can see what the link looks like.
If you want a topic to open with the surrounding navigation (TOC, Index, Search, Glossary) you need to click the Show link, then look at what's in the Address bar. Copy that link and you should have what you need.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Navigation Panel not displayed

    Hi,
I have just installed my EP server. When I log in, I do not see the navigation panel. It gives me an error "Error: Access is denied" followed by an error "Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object".
I checked the browser settings for security, privacy and advanced settings, which are as per SAP documentations.
Appreciate suggestions as to where the error could be.

Use server name in url, when accessing the portal. Do not use its IP address instead.

  • How to make Navigation Panel invisible on portal screen????

    Hi,
    I need to create two roles ( X and Y ).
when the user is assgned role X: he should see standard portal screen
When user is assigned role Y: he should see customized portal screen.
    Features of customized portal screen:
All features of portal should not be seen. The user should see only the iview and nothing else.
    What I have done:
Created Role ( X and Y ) and respective iviews
    With Framework page:
I copied standard framework page. made all iviews invisible except Desktop Innerpage.
I opend the Innerpage. I made all all iviews invisible except the Content Area.
    With Desktop:
I create new desktop and assigned the new framework page to deaktop and made it default.
With Rule Collection: I created new rule collection where:
    if Role = Y
    display: new desktop
    if role = X
    display: default desktop
    Result:
when I login with role X it shows default Desktop
Problem Area: When i login with ROLE Y, No portal feature is visible But We can still Expand and collapse Navigation panel.
Requirement: I do not want the user should see the navigation panel. It should not be visible on screen even though it is empty.
I tried lots almost all properties. Please help.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Aditya Deshpande

    hi;
Then you have to create Role Y without workset or Page only with iViews, so no Navigation will be generated. :h1
But if you habe Workset and Page in your role , just go to all Page and workset and set this properties>navigation>Invisible in Navigation Areas  to false.
    I Hoppe it will help
    Take care

  • Link to folder in a room - missing header area and navigation panel

    Hello Community,
I have a problem, again. While creating favorites to specific folders I got a problem while using and "publishing" them.
While using the "send to..." feature the recipient gets an eMail with the link to this folder. When clicking this link he gets as the result the opened folder, displayed in a browser. Until now nothing really unexpected.
What we want is that he gets not only the opened folder. We want that he gets the whole navigation around it (navigation panel, header area) for the specific room the folder is in.
Now my question. Is it possible to create a link with this behavior?
Thanks for every hint in advance!
    Regards,
    Frank

    Hi Frank,
if you have navigated to the room / within the room to the room part you want, check the page toolbar, choose "Add to Portal Favorites", add it under some name; then in IE choose Favorites, right-click on the favorite just added, right click, properties (or just call it). The upcoming URL of the form http://portal:50000/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=navurl://1f9eaddf81792cb6f2b9f05381cce360&&NavTargetAsRoot=true should do the trick (this at least holds from SP14 on).
    Hope it helps

  • How to merge top level navigation into detail navigation panel.

    Hi All,
I want to add all the contents of top level navigation into detail navigation panel and  remove top level navigation.I am looking for the code with which i can shift the top level navigation to detail level navigation.

You could edit the top-level navigation iview and set the <b>Number of Display levels</b> property's value to 0.
you can reach the Top-level navigation iview by going through the following path
    1) <b>Content Administration --> Portal Content --> Content Provided by SAP --> Admin Interfaces --> Top-level navigation</b>
However, note that once you do this the whatever menus that are available in the top level will not be available anymore.
Maybe, you could copy the standard Top-level navigation into a framework page that you have created and then make the change. After doing so, you can assign it to groups/roles you want. This will ensure that the CONTENT/SYSTEM/USER administrators see the normal portal framework and specific user groups alone dont see the Top level navigation..
