Auto filling web addresses

Doe anybody know how I stop safari's address bar prediciting what I am going to type into the address bar? It is pretty annoying. Thank you.

There is no way to turn off URL Autocomplete. Autocomplete gets its data from the cache, History, and Bookmarks. The only way to minimize autocomplete is to periodically clear the cache and History and to go through your Bookmarks and delete old and seldom used ones, including those created when Safari was first installed.
One work-around is to add an extra blank space either before you start typing or when you are done typing in the address. All the various alternatives will then disappear.
You can add your voice to all the others who want to turn autocomplete off by requesting a toggle in Preferences by sending a feature request via "Report Bugs to Apple" under the Safari menu.

  • Auto Fill Shipping Address from Billing Address on a New Form in SharePoint 2013

I have a new form on SharePoint that has a few fields:
Billing Address 1 (Single Line of Text)
Billing Address 2 (Single Line of Text)
Billing Address City (Single Line of Text)
Billing Address State (Drop Down Menu)
Billing Address Zip (Single Line of Text)
Shipping Address is the Same (Yes/No Check Box)
Shipping Address 1 (Single Line of Text)
Shipping Address 2 (Single Line of Text)
Shipping Address City (Single Line of Text)
Shipping Address State (Drop Down Menu)
Shipping Address Zip (Single Line of Text)
The object is that a user would fill in the Billing Address Fields, then click the "Shipping Address is the Same" check box and the Shipping Address Fields would auto fill with the Billing Address Fields.
I've tried using a CEWP and editing the form file in SharePoint Designer 2013. I just don't know how to make this Dynamic auto fill work! Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

    Use a custom web part
Design the form controls and in "Shipping Address is the Same" check box check event or button click,
copy the same data into a label form contains the same fields but in form of labels instead of textbox and dropdownlist.
try this solution and let me know.

  • Iphone auto fill TO: addresses

On my iphone, how do I delete old email addresses that aren't in my contacts and keep them from popping up in the auto fill TO: line?

With the Mail.app on a Mac, there is a Previous Recipient's list where this data is avaialble - which is stored with the Address Book database. You can add a previous recipient from this list to the Address Book that is not already entered, or delete a previous recipient from the list.
Hopefully, Apple has plans to include the same for the iPhone's mail client and address book with a firmware update at some point.

  • Auto Fill in Address Book

Is there a way you can delete items in autofill? When I type Wenatchee, it brings up erroneously spellings of the city, puts the state after it in the city portion, etc. The same thing occurs when typing the state--the zip code comes up with the state. I have tried several ways to delete this but am unable to find anything that works. My Apple Care Protection person was unsuccessful in trying to help me solve this problem. She suggested I post this on a discussion board and someone with more experience might be able to help me. --Jane 1931

Fields in AB are purpose-specific, no matter
what the label says. Its "purpose" appears in ghost writing in the
empty field. The problem is that a field may be labled "Email" yet
be anything but. Put an email address in there and auto fill-in, as
well as the usefulness of the email database invoked by the icon
"Address" in a new Message, will be totally non functional. I had
to test the validity of every entry in my AB (that did not display an
email address in the "Address" DB. Here's how - just select the entry
in the supposed Email field, do a "Cut" and the label appears, voila!
If the field says "Name" or anything but "Email," add the appropriate
field to the card using "Add Field" from the Card command on the
Title Bar. Add an Email field, do a "Paste" of the address still on your
Clipboard and you're done. If the "Address" database is still open,
watch the email address jump right in there next to the person's name.
Now auto fill-in will work as intended. Caveat: there's a limit to the
number of each type of field you can have in AB itself. Prune unneeded
entries as you go to free up options.

  • Is it possible to disable auto fill in address field?

I need to disable the auto fill function in the address field. Is this possible?

    Hi Joe
There's no way to disable the URL. Trashing the History (User Account>Library>Safari folder) and Metadata files (User Account>Library>Cache>Metadata and Safari folders) minimizes the prompts. Purging all Bookmarks helps too. However, the actual function of the prompts is built into the application's software, so it simply starts to rebuild the prompts again.
If you don't want to see prompts, simply press the space-bar once before entering a URL. That's the only work-around. If you don't want Safari to record your browsing activity, select "Private Browsing" in the Safari Menu each time you open Safari.

  • Firefox will not "auto fill" email addresses in Yahoo mail. How do I get this to work?

This used to work. I have a new laptop and am not sure if this is a laptop issue, a Yahoo issue, or a Firefox issue. It is very annoying to have to go to my address book every time I want to send an email because names are not recognized. This was not a problem on my previous lap top. I also think that this was not a problem with the previous version of Firefox.

Odd that grant_cm reported this a year ago, and it only started happening to me in the last week or so. What's more, email autofill with Yahoo still works for me in Safari on my Mac. I prefer the Firefox browser, but this issue is a real pain, and what's more your CAN'T insert a list from you address book. Sure would like to know what happened and how to fix this.

  • Cannot bring up a Yahoo email list address on ipad2??? Won't auto fill.

Using yahoo email on my ipad2 it will auto fill an email address if I put in a first name.  It should auto fill 76 addresses when I put in the nickname of one of my lists but it won't.  Will do so on my PC.  Why?  How fix?

If you are talking about Yahoo mail within the built in iOS mail app, you cannot email to groups using the mail app. There are third party apps that will allow you to email to groups, but the iOS mail app won't do it.
There are some workarounds where you can create a group in the notes app, copy it into your contacts app and use that, but the feature just does not exist in the mail app itself.

  • Auto-fill text box field values based on pulldown selection

Trying to fill in address, city, state, zip text fields based on option selected in a select form field. The following code works great in Internet Explorer, but in Chrome or Firefox, after making selection, text fields are populated with the word "undefined."
I've found a PHP version of Jquery script here that would probabably fit the bill.

    <script type="text/javascript">

       "locationName": "Airport Park School",
       "locationAddress": "",

    but I'm lost at the

direction, and just to double check, you named the Javascript var "addresses", so the "reference as address" s/b "reference as addresses" right?
I've tried many iterations of "onchange" adding other variables (locationCity, locationZip, etc.) but coming up empty.
Anyway, I wish I could buy you a beer or two for the help . . .
Here's where I'm at, which ain't working. If you have a minute to look over, it would be MUCH appreciated. Try not to laugh at my (what's probably ugly) Javascript code:

  • Annoying old web addresses remain in Safari address window drop down list

Does anyone know how to clear old website addresses from the address window drop down in Safari. When you type the first letter of a website address (ie w) in the address window I get a drop down list of very old previously used addresses that I can click on to auto populate web address into the window. I keep hoping new release updates might eliminate the trash list but it is always there after every update (now at version 3.0.4). I have tried clearing every know cache, history log, preference lists, etc known to exist and the drop down list persists. By the way no new website addresses I go to are ever added to the list, the list remains persistent and unchanged. Drives me nuts ...

I have tried clearing every know cache, history log, preference lists, etc known to exist and the drop down list persists
Have you also given your bookmarks a spring clean? Safari also uses these for the lookup. If there's nothing to clean up, try inserting a space character before typing the address. i.e. " www....etc.".

  • Can't delete Unwanted Email addresses, Auto-fill in saves them all !

How do I delete Unwanted Email addresses?
Auto-fill in saves them all !
When I start a new email, every email address I've
ever written to pops up (To:) This greatly increases my
chances of sending a new email to the wrong person.
.....there's got to be a way to delete just the addresses
    I don't want !....but where & how ?

I am also looking for a way purge the email addy autofill of old contacts that no longer exist. Many a family and friends have since changed their E-mail addy's, I have deleted their old addy's from contacts, yet the iPhone autofill still manages to hang on to those in some stored cache that is NOT accessible to purge or delete! This is something I've struggled with regarding the iPhone since my first iPhone months after it originally released years ago, have since owned a few other iPhones as they progressed, currently an iPhone 4, on os 4.01, same issue persists. Have restored my phones, started from new during some restores, etc, those old defunct E-mail addy's still autofill!
I sync with my iMac yet do not even have my mail client set up on the iMac, never have since we bought the iMAc, web based E-mail only, so this issue has nothing to do with mail client on the computer it syncs to.
It would be nice if someone from Apple would reply with acknowledgment that they are indeed aware of this and hopefully it is on their to-do list.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • How do you get auto fill to use the right E-mail address?

    Hi Everyone
My address book card has multiple E-mail addresses on it. Yet when I want to use auto fill to fill out a form, 100% of the time it's just one address I want to use. The problem is safari always uses only one of the addresses and it's not the one I want to use. Is there a way to change which address (or any other field) from your address card is used in auto fill?
    TIA
    K

Since you don't say how many email addresses you have on your own card or which of them it's picking, I'll assume it's choosing the first one in the list. If that's correct and it's not the one you want, you need to change the order of addresses to make the one you want be the first one in the list.
Other than that, you cannot set a default item for any field.

  • Strange problem with auto-fill addresses in mail and address book

There's an entry in my address book (version 4.0.6) that keeps adding a first name to an entry. I keep deleting it and somehow the first name keeps getting added. I suspected that Mail (2.1.3) was using auto-fill or LDAP to take the name it remembered in Mail and put it in Address Book by associating the email address, so I turned off LDAP and auto-fill and the problem still persists.
As an aside, I use mobileme to sync two macs (Address Book) and a pc (Outlook) so I really want to clear up this problem so the phantom entry does not keep getting transfered to all databases.
Should I delete some cache or something? One other problem (unsure if it's related) is that my Mail application always ask for my keychain password on startup - I have tried the keychain repair app and it seemed to work once, though this problem persists, as well.
    Thank you in advance!

Yes. the dot in front makes it invisible.
    Show hidden files...
Open the terminal and type or copy/paste:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true
Reverting to the default of NOT showing hidden files:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool false
Reboot or Force Finder quit needed for either change to show.
I'd move them both to the Desktop then reboot, if it works fine then you can Trash them.

  • Auto fill addresses in SMS texts - where did it go?

I just had to swap out my iPhone4 (1st one only one month old had hardware problems) everything with the new phone seems fine, but I just noticed when texting that I can't type the first few letters of a person's name and it automatically shows all the close options. I have to manually type in the ENTIRE address or hit the plus sign and go to my contacts. This is a real pain - and it's taking too much time.
I can't find any setting to get the auto fill in SMS back. Auto fill on email is fine. Any suggestions?
    Many thanks!

I hate to aks the obvious, but are you sure you have any contacts? There's no Setting to make certain that the auto-fill is on for SMS, so the only thing that makes sense is an empty Contacts.
