Auto Fix Red-Eye in Aperture?

Hello,
I'm a newbie to Aperture and I was just trying to figure out where in Aperture can I fix red-eye automatically [similar to how it is done in iPhoto 11]? I realize that I can fix the red eyes manually, but is there a simple button that I can push that will automatically fix the red eyes in a photograph? This feature is really nice in iPhoto 11 as it will fix 99% of the red-eyes, etc. Just hoping there is a similar feature in Aperture.
Thanks for your help!!!

Thanks for the response Frank. I was afraid that this may be the answer. No issue, I'm just surprised that it's not available especially with all the bells and whistles that Aperture offers.
Thanks again for your help!

  • IPhoto 9.4.2 - Unable to Fix Red-Eye

Since upgrading to iPhoto 11  v 9.4.2 with OS 10.8.3, I am unable to Auto-Fix Red-Eye in my photos.
And even the Manual fix is erratic.
This compares very unfavourably with the ease of dealing with red-eye in previous versions of iPhoto/Mountain Lion.
There are no unrecognized faces involved.
I did delete the preference file com.apple.iPhoto.plist in my Home Folder/Library/Preferences folder.
I could not find a Cache.db cache file in Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder to delete.
I have Rebuilt the library using Control-Click to open iPhoto as well as by using iPhotoLibrary Manager.
No improvement in the ability to get rid of Red-Eyes!
    Appreciate any suggestions.

  • When using 'Fix Red-Eye' or 'Retouch' the circle tool isn't showing

When using 'Fix Red-Eye' or 'Retouch' in iPhoto 11 (v9.4.3), the circle tool isn't showing any longer. Only the normal arrow cursor. It still works fine, I just can't see the size of the circle against the photo.
I've tried restarting iPhoto and the whole Mac, but no luck.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Red eye correction not saving, Red eye correction not saving

I open iphoto and try to auto-fix red eye in one picture but it's not an option. So I manually fix it but once I hit "done" the red eye correction does not save. I have iphoto'11.

I hit "done" the red eye correction does not save.
Perhaps your library is corrupted. Try to repair your iPhoto library.
Launch iPhoto with the key combination ⌥⌘ held down and try the first aid options "repair permissions" and "repair database", if necessary also "rebuild database". Before you do any repairing, make sure that the backup of your iPhoto library is up to date.

  • Iphoto red eye correction

IPhoto 11 (9.4.3) doesn't auto-fix red eye at all.  Manually, it puts a small grey area inside the pupil, which then becomes a very large, very black spot when the operation is completed !  Looks terrible !!  Happens on all photos (I use my IPhone to take pictures).   Any help?
    Thanks,
    Eileen

I was having the same problem with Version 9.4.3   It does the same with V 9.2.3.  iPhoto 8.1.2 does a better job on eyes that are no facing the camera directlhy. Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again. Togle the Auto check box on and off and watch the problem eye.  It worked on one person for me but not on another who was not facing the camera directly.
Report your problems to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Atomatic Red Eye Fix

When I download pictures into Photoshop 6 - the program immediately starts "fixing" red eye.  As a result I ended up with black spots on some of the photos.  I would like to turn off the auto feature and fix the red eye pics myself.  How do I turn off the auto red eye fix feature?

Launch the Organizer and press Ctrl+G
In the Downloader click the Advanced Dialog button and then you can uncheck red-eye and other auto-fixes.

  • Auto Red Eyes removal batch processing

    Hi,
I know we have got the red eyes removal took into photoshop. Such tool needs a user manual action to work. We must clic on the eyes to make it work.
So its not possible to batch process pictures with red eyes.
I wonder as cameras have now built in red eyes removal and its possible to find a one button push red eyes removal at local photo stations.
Is there a plug in out there that can auto remove red eyes, so we could batch process red eyes photo ?
Is there any trick or pro grade plugin that could make that?

Photoshop Elements 9 has this capability. If I had to auto-red-eye more than a dozen images, that's the route I would take.
Of course, I'd probably flatten the psd, save a copy, have PSE9 do its thing, then load the 'fixed' image back in as a layer.
And I'd still take pass over the results to verify that the corrections look good.

  • IPhoto '11: How can I save my red-eye correction changes?

iPhoto '11: I'm not able to save red-eye correction changes in my photo. In edit mode, the red-eye correction takes place automatically and according to the help documentation, the automatic changes (or manual changes) are saved when I press "Done". However, when I export the photo, the correction is not visible.
    Help!

The changes should be applied, after you finish the "Fix Red-Eye" adjustment by pressing "Done".
If the changes do not save, there may be something wrong with the iPhoto Library. Try the First Aid Tools.
Quit iPhoto and launch it again with the key combination ⌥⌘ held down and double clicking the iPhoto icon or your iPhoto library.
Then try all repair options from the first aid panel: Repair Permissions, Repair Database, Rebuild Database.
You'd better back up your iPhoto library, before you try that, if you do not have  a working backup.

  • Tricky red-eye using Remove Spots tip

I just ran across a way to fix red-eye in a case where one eye refuses to be grabbed by the red-eye tool.
The right eye worked fine, and I was able to simply select it and have the red-eye reduced. The left eye would not take for some reason. Lightroom just was not finding what it needed in order for the tool to work, even with a model looking directly into the camera lens.
I tried applying some modest tweaks to balance out the shot, along with a bit more sharpening. Still the red-eye tool would not grab that second eye.
So, I chose the Remove Spots tool and made the tool about as big as the pupil, selected the centre of the troublesome eye and dragged the selection it should use the the other (corrected) eye.
Voila! Two eyes that looked the same.

Clever idea, John. This trick will come in handy!

  • How to get rid of red eye

how to get rid of red eye

The Red Eye tool is in the same palette as the Healing Brush, the Spot Healing Brush, Content Aware Move, and Patch tools. To move to this palette, press J, and click and hold on the selected icon.
Once you've selected the Red Eye tool, click on the red eye in your photo and Photoshop will fix it.
One more thought: Have you tried LevelUp for Photoshop? It's a  game of missions and levels, designed to help you learn Photoshop basics; and one of the missions shows you how to fix red eye. You install LevelUp for Photoshop using Adobe Exchange. Go to Window > Extensions > Adobe Exchange, and search for LevelUp.

  • Is there a way I can auto fix the red eye in all photos in my library, rather than fixing each individual photo seperately?

    Hi,
I have lightroom 5 which I use to edit photos taken using a ringflash around my canon 60D. The ringflash causes subjects in the photos to have red eye. Is there a way you can auto correct the red eye over all the photos you import rather than using the tool to edit each individual photo separately?
    Cheers,
    Tegan

    The short answer is: no.
And I don't *think* there is a longer answer - but maybe somebody knows better..
    Sorry,
    Rob.

  • Use auto red-eye and auto c/a algorithms from RSP

I'm assuming that Michael J. and company are still associated w/ LightRoom, I'd like to see the auto red-eye fix and the auto c/a fix functionalty from RSP used in LightRoom. I find the manual red-eye fix tool in LightRoom difficult/unwieldy and the c/a remover does not do as good a job RSP did automatically (yes, I recognize it could be user error, but I'd still rather have the tool automatically make the attempt and let me fine tune if needed.)
    Thanks,
    Matt

You are correct, I misremembered about the red-eye removal (I must have been thinking of a different package.) The PF control may have been it, but whatever "it" was, it got rid of the PF as well as the c/a that is evident in other software (including LR.) So whatever it was, I'd like it back....

  • BUG: Red Eye Removal on JPGs + Auto commit to XMP

There seems to be a bug in 1.3.1 when using the Red Eye Removal tool on JPGs and auto commit metadata to file option is selected:
    Can anyone confirm?
This is what I've written to Adobe in a bug report:
    ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
When using "Red Eye Removal Tool" on jpgs and in File->Catalog Settings->Metadata the option "Automatically write changes into XMP" is selected this will end up in a loop reading and writing metadata. The picture is always in status: "checking metadata". "Metadata Date" of file is changing from time to time because Lightroom is always saving metadata to file (modified date of the jpg file itself also changes, so something is written to file).
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. in File->Catalog Settings->Metadata check option "Automatically write changes into XMP"
    2. select a JPG picture and go to Develop Module
    3. use the Red Eye Removal Tool
    Results:
Endless loop by Lightroom trying to save this change into Metadata of JPG file
    Expected results:
Either it is not possible to store this change in metadata: then don't touch the file.
Or it is possible, then this needs to be fixed so it is written/read correctly from file.

The red eye tool works by selecting the whole eye not just the pupil. If it still does not work try lightening or darkening the image to gaiain some more colour. If that does not work you can clone form one of the eyes that has worked.
    Hope this helps you out.........
