Auto HTTP Proxy remembers first user credentials to access Safari

Hello
We would like to introduce iPads in the enterprise. The issue we have is after connecting it to the wireless with a static address (which it keeps no problem). We need to enter the HTTP Proxy. This is set to auto and the proxy URL is entered fine and stored.
The problem comes when we then use Safari to browse the first time you open it a box appears asking you to login. Once logged in you get the appropriate access for your login. It is not a single user who will have access to the iPad 2 and for some reason when opening safari for the 2nd time you do not get asked for login credentials. Instead you get the same access as the person who entered their details on first opening safari.
This does not work for us as didnt levels get different site access. I cannot find anywhere on the device that these details are remembered. Can someone please let me know how i get it to ask for credentials everytime safari is opened or a way that i can delete the last persons login details.
The only way i have been able to clear the user details is to 'erase all contecnt and settings' and this is not practical.
Thanks

I have exactly the same problem. After trolling the web for the last 2 hours this is the first post i have seen about the issue i can't beleive it! You can "Forget" the connection and reconnect but that's just not practical. Have you had any luck on this problem? I updated an iPad to 5.1......same problem!

  • Configuring the application server to use HTTP proxy server

    Hi,
I am trying to configure LiveCycle ES2 to access services over the internet and since my Livecycle server connects to internet through a Proxy server, I have referred to section 5.8.2 of LiveCycle install_weblogic.pdf that states the following:
If the computer that LiveCycle ES2 is running on uses proxy settings to access external web sites, the
application server should be started with the following values set as Java virtual machine (JVM)
    arguments:
      -Dhttp.proxyHost= [server host]
    -Dhttp.proxyPort= [server port]
However, I am getting the below exception while running the LC application as my Proxy server requires User credentials to connect to the internet:
weblogic.net.http.HttpUnauthorizedException: Proxy or Server Authentication Required.
I tried providing the below JVM startup argument too, but no luck:
    -Dhttp.proxyUser= [proxy user]
    -DhttpPassword= [Proxy password]
Can you please suggest how to configure User credentials for the Proxy server in Livecycle.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi WASIL,
    Thank you for your response.
I have followed the above document suggested by yourself and the relevant steps while setting up the Server and the Workbench, and verified the settings too.
The installation guide does highlight the steps to configure a Proxy server. However, the guide does not mention anything about how to handle Proxy server authentication.
Please note that there are Proxy authenication options available in Workbench to configure how the Workbench connects to the LiveCycle server, whereas the problem I am facing here is how to connect the LiveCycle server with internet services through a Proxy server.
I hope that clears the problem statement.
    Thankyou for your assistance.

  • Not able to pass user credentials in a full trust proxy to call web service in Sandbox solution

    Hello,
I am trying to build a sandbox webpart that calls a windows authenticated webservice to fetch some data. I tried to pass the DefaultCredentials to the webservice proxy but The credentials passed are that of the
usercodeserviceproxy process ( in my case it is network service) . I  see that the user account trying to authenticate is Domain\machinname$ which is the network service.
My question is - is there a way to pass the logged in user credentials to the web service from sandbox proxy ?

  • Proxy https connection with client certificate credentials

Hello, we are building a application like netvibes/iGoogle which allows users to have portlets with rss feeds in them. The portlets are all loaded using ajax and therefore, the RSS feeds must exist on the same domain as the portal. If they don't, you run into problems with cross-domain security issues with ajax. Usually to get around this you just proxy the connection on the server which is very simple with rss feeds that are exposed via http. We however have many feeds that are exposed via https. These feeds likely require a client certificate to authenticate them. Therefore, just doing a basic proxy (take the distant url and open a new connection on the server) won't work because it will build the new connection with the servers credentials and not the users.
Is there a way to build the connection on the server using the users credentials?? How can we proxy this connection over https?
If anyone has ideas, please let me know.
    Thanks!

in fact you are more using a reverse-proxy than a proxy since it is on the server part..
You have to put all the SSL server part on the reserve-proxy itself and not on the final RSS feed. Then, the reverse-proxy will authenticate your client and gets its certificate. After that, either this proxy will open a plain connection (no ssl) towards the RSS, or you can also open a ssl connection but this means you must create a client certificate for the proxy. It just depends on the security level you need, and I used this solution many times in professional hosting.
    hope it helps !

  • Setting proxy-user credentials

    Hi!
I'm trying to make database reads through the proxy account ('main' proxy user)
and writes through 'normal' proxy user depending on what user is logged in application and make this writes. Proxy user is authenticated by name and password.
    1) I've created accounts for proxy users in Oracle DB.
    2) I've implemented session event handler for the preLogin event like in the reference:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/1013/main/_html/dblgcfg008.htm
3)Then I need to acquire all client sessions of any logged in application user
with their own proxy-user credentials, but
    a) there is no such event as preAcquireClientSession;
    b) when this is done in postAcquireClientSession it has no effect (all writes are performed by the 'main' proxy user).
How to solve 3)? Is there any class or event in TopLink where I can set proxy-user credentials?
Hints or ideas will be so helpfull.
By the way, I'm using TopLink 10.1.3, Spring 2.0.

Thanks for reply. I've already read that, very usefull thread. But before today I could not get where interaction with server is.
Now I think I should investigate in org.springframework.orm.toplink.TopLinkTransactionManager, the key to solve my problem not only in TopLink but in Spring also.

  • Websecurity and End-user-notification with HTTPS proxy

    Hi all
I would like to setup HTTPS-proxy functionality in a deployment. Most of the rules are "pass-through" and only a few would then be configured for drop or decryption.
But if i set the connection to drop it is not possible to display an End-user-notification for the endusers. Is there any chance to display an End-user notification to the enduser while dropping or denying https access to a particular group ?
If yes, is the End-user notification then displayed in normal http connection or in a https connection ?
Did i use for that a trusted certificate to correctly display the end-user notification without to pop-up a certificate failure (because self-signed certificate is in place at the moment) ?
It would be great, if you have some answers for some of those questions.

  • Other users credentials being remembered in Safari

We are using Snow Leopard on the Macs and are bound to OD and AD, when the users login and open Safari they do not get asked to authenticate to the proxy server and are using cached credentials that are allowing them to connect to banned sites, how do I get rid of the cached credentiaals.
I have already deleted the browsing history and cache.I have deleted the keychain and the users cache. Ihave deleted the PubSub folder contents and the Safari folder contents in their home directories.
Can anyone tell me where else I can look for the cached credentials

I'm sure the store could fix it, but I think we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.
An Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc...

  • Dynamic user credentials for XI receiver communication channel

    Hi Experts,
I am working on File(XML ) to ABAP  proxy scenario. I want to know if I get the user-id and password information to login to R/3 system as part of the XML  payload, can I use this information to connect to R/3 system in my XI Receiver communication channel?
Using a generic user credentials either in RFC destination or specifying it in communication channel configuration will not work. This is because the requirement is that the objects that will be created in inbound ABAP  proxy (for ex Material Master) should be created with the user information that is coming from payload rather than a generic user.
Any pointers how to acheive this?
    Thanks and regards,

  • HTTP Proxy setting for SOA server

    Hi,
my intention is to enable SOA Server to connect through HTTP Proxy to external services. This occurred when I am trying to connect to Yahoo Mail Server, via User Messaging Service but it keep throwing connection time out. One of the possible solution is to make the service to connect via the HTTP Proxy server in our network.
There are no mention of how to setup HTTP Proxy connection for UMS, as well as SOA Server in any documents.
Please advice or direct me to the relevant solutions.
    Appreciate any help rendered :)
    yee thian

I have not worked in SoA server, but since it uses weblogic server underlying (I assume), you can try setting the -Dhttp.proxyHost , -Dhttp.proxyPort system properties ( https for secured URL's) to WLS to specify the proxy details. Also the product might not have the capability to pass user credentials for authentication at the proxy. The version of OSB we are using had this problem. To overcome this you might require to add the URL to the proxy free list in your proxy server. This prevents the proxy from prompting for the user name when you access that URL.

  • Windows keeps on asking for my user credentials

    Hi.
As per subject, I keep on getting prompted to enter my user credentials whenever I open a mapped drive (which has been mapped before with the same credentials) or when I open the SharePoint site and also when
I check out and edit a document from SharePoint.
    This is becoming debilitating.
I have a very lengthy password as per our policy so I'm really despondent to have to enter this password every single time I access SharePoint.
In the past, I only got prompted once during every session. Now, I get prompted multiple times a day. I will be prompted when I access SharePoint and then 10 seconds later, be prompted AGAIN when I check out and edit a document....WHAT?!
I keep on selecting the checkbox "remember credentials" but this is to no avail. I've deleted all the credentials in Credential Manager numerous times and added them manually and then again automatically, all to no avail. I've even tried multiple
entries for example "192.168.1.1" and also "http://192.168.1.1" as well as the FQDN for example "server01". So the same network resource has 3-4 different entries and none work!!
Whenever I enter my credentials and select that checkbox to remember them, I can see in Credential Manager that the respective entries gets updated but what's the point if they are never utilized?
I've also checked the services and changed the Credential Manager to start automatically without delay.
I have appealed for help elsewhere (WindowsForums, SpiceWorks, TechRepublic) but no one seems to have any definitive answers or solutions. I've been having this issue for YEARS now but want to do something about it now as it's becoming debilitating.
    Please help!

  • Apache HTTP proxying for load balancing only to a group of non-clustered WL servers

              Hi,
We're running WL Server 6.1 SP 2 on Solaris 2.8.
For the Apache HTTP proxy plugin, if you use the WebLogicCluster http.conf option,
do the WL servers you want to load balance across have to be part of a WebLogic
cluster (if you are prepared to do without failover, as I know it would need to be
a proper WL cluster to replicate session info for failover). Can you load balance
across a group of non-clustered WL servers, and maintain the user session to the
one WL server so that it doesn't switch between servers on alternate requests for
the same user session, or must the servers be configured as a WebLogic cluster?
              Paul
We find that if you have a collection of WL servers that are not configured as a
cluster, that it will load balance alternate requests to each server, but it will
not pin a user to a single machine according to their session so for 2 servers, 2
differetn sessions get created, one on each machine.
Is this because it doesn't normally do this, but sends the user alternately to a
primary then secondary which works in a cluster because the session is replicated.
I thought the secondary was only used when the primary failed.

You don't have to use the clustering option. To get failover, you'll have to
use the JDBC persistence option of WL.

The primary/secondary stuff requires clustering. If Apache continues to
"load balance" after the first request, you need to either use JDBC session
persistence or use a different load balancer (like mod_jk for Apache or a
h/w load balancer with support for sticky).

  • Http proxy setting for webservice client.

    Hi !
I have set the following option for accessing the webservice through the proxy(webservice
    outside the firewall).
    I'm using weblogic v7.0 with sp1.
    -Dweblogic.webservice.transport.http.proxy.host=xxxx
    -Dweblogic.webservice.transport.http.proxy.port=8088
It works fine and my soap client is able to access the webservice lying outside
    the firewall.
But when I use the same setting, the soap client fails for accessing the webservice
    which are
    inside the firewall.
    I get "Connection refused".
Is there any option to specify not to use proxy for specific hosts and ports ?
    For example http.nonProxyHost
