Auto import images into aperture...and continue importing...

i know that there is a script to import images into aperture, but i need to use this with a tethered camera....so i use a canon app to shoot files to a folder and as the files come in, i need them to get imported as they keep coming in....i am only referencing them, so they are actually staying within the folder....i can import the files but i don't know how to/which command "keeps checking the folder for new files that came in" hope this makes sense....
i know that there is a "hot folder" app available which seems to be a automator app, but it is superslow and only brings in every 4th or 5th image (and sometimes just brings everything to a halt...)

    How do I import RAW images from my Canon EOS T2i camera into Aperture and have them show up as RAW images and not jpeg images?

    See the list of supported raw formats:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
    The footnote ** for the cameras  EOS Rebel T2i EF-S / 550D / Kiss X4**  says, that the raw format is only supported with Aperture 3. So you will have to upgrade to Aperture 3, to be able to import the raw from from your camera.

    For future reference.
    My TC is a 3rd gen.
    I actually had to reset to standard defaults not only once but twice. The first time I simply returned to my old profile but that only led to the same message error on the network settings (i.e. IP by default, cannot connect to the internet). Therefore the second time around I kept my profile as backup and re-created a new one plus a guest one.
    The airport utility then signaled to issues remaining:
    1) Internet access was cut - this I solved by simply reseting the cable modem
    2) There were no DNS Servers - I simply copied the ones I had from the previous setup and it worked
    I did have AppleCare....
    I'm online again and I hope for good.

  • Importing Photoshop RAW images into Aperture

    When I import Photoshop RAW images that I have made adjustments to, into my Aperture library, they show up as the original RAW files and not with my adjustments. Is there a way to get the RAW adjustments imported as well.
    The only reason I need to import them into Aperture is to post them in a web gallery. Or is there a way to create a ME web gallery directly from Photoshop files? How about creating a ME web gallery directly from Lightroom? Anybody have a clue?)
    (Btw, in attemtpting to research this topic, I find I am totally unable to do a search of the discussions. Even with a search word like "Aperture", I get no messages. Not matter what search word I enter I get no messages found. ???)
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply Allen.
    I am saving them all as TIFFS now. I was just trying to avoid that time-consuming step. I do not really need them as TIFFS right now. It is to show edited RAW files to a client. Later, when selections are made, I would save that much smaller number of images as TIFFS. But it seems that there is no other way to import the RAW files with the edits into Aperture.
    I used to create all of my web albums for clients in PS. But once I got a .mac account, I love and prefer the look of the .mac web galleries. But of course that necessitated importing all my PS files into either iPhoto (not an option) or Aperture. But can these PS web galleries be exported to a .mac web gallery?
    Thanks!

  • I imported events from iphoto into aperture and aperture is showing 2 photos for each picture, one original and one edited although none of the photos from iphoto had been edited. Any idea why this has happened and what I need to do to prevent this.

    I imported several events for iPhoto into Aperture3 and in Aperture it shows two photos for each photo imported, one original and one edited although none of the photos imported were edited. Why has this happened and what do I need to do to prevent this in future. I have only recently got Aperture and am trying to learn as I go along using the Focal Press guide. Thanks for any help.

    This is not what I found to be the case in a recent experiment using iPhoto11- I did repeat it to be sure.

    Quickly, what I found is that only the ones I did actual adjustments on brought over two images.  Images that were simply rotated, had "quick fixes" or "Effects" did not bring in two images.  More importantly, among the ones with adjustments that did bring in two images, the ones with the keyword  "iPhoto Edited" appear to be nothing more than iPhoto's 6MB JPEG Previews.  The master was a 25MB RAW image.
    I don't know why some users are experiencing doubles on everything, but I recommend caution in deciding which ones to remove or you may find yourself deleting masters and keeping previews.

  • I'm organising my Aperture library today and I'm going to go through my photos folder, import the images to Aperture and then delete the original folders. Just curious if deleting the source folders is a big no-no or not.

    Topic title basically sums it up.

    Alright. For my case was, my source files are inside the Document folders. Since importing the pictures into Aperture, deleting the source files/folders did not cause any problems with Aperture.
    Whether it is a good idea or would depend on how comforatble you are with the idea in the first place. On one hand you can save up precious hard disk space, while on the other if the Aperture library gets corrupted, you might lose everything. Of course, having a backup of the Aperture library helps, as well as a time machine backup of it. On top of that you can also have an Aperture Vault to backup the library to a external drive.
    In summary i think a reasonlable backup plan is just as important regardless of whether or not the source file is in which location. For my case, i only have the Aperture library as all of my source. A time machine backs up everything including my library, in addition to that, i also use Aperture Vault to back up to another external drive just in case.

  • How do import an image into CS3 and resize it?

    Hi, let me say first I know very little of Illustrator C3.  I have a poster that was created by someone else.  I'm supposed to take that image and resize to fit on a pop up banner.  I created a new doc in Ill. with the correct dimensions and copied and pasted the image.  Now how to I get the original image with layers to conform to the new doc. sizing?  I need to take the image and enlarge it and make it fit within the confines of my new doc.  How do I do that without distorting the image.

    Shift, Ctrl and Alt modifier keys offer constraining options in all Adobe programs. Shift will retain proportions, Alt scale from the center etc. and when combined you can scale constrained from the center. anyway, the question is, what you are referring to by "image". Bitmaps as in photographs or other pixel images? Then AI is the wrong choice. You need to do such things in Photoshop. If its a PDF or another AI file, scaling should be no problem. you may just wish to group items before doing so to retain their relative placement within teh group and avoid unpleasant surprises when you only mass-select them.

  • Apple working on a way of including geotagging images into Aperture?

    Hi,
    We have several ways of geotagging images before they are transported into a Aperture library, but I would have liked a way of tagging already existing images and have already suggested that apple could include this in the Import Menu.
    Is it unlikely that Apple will have a look at ways to geocode images inside Aperture in the future?
    Best regards,
    Kjell Are Refsvik

    You can read the AppleScript dictionary in Script Editor.
    Assuming you would use IPTC tags for this, here is the relevant information:
    IPTC tag n : This class represents an IPTC tag of an image version.
    elements
    contained by image versions.
    properties
    name (string, r/o) : This is the name of the IPTC tag.
    value (string) : This is the value of the IPTC tag.
    So you could create a tag for geographic location and put GPS coordinates or whatever in there. Writing something to iterate through your photos and update this information based on name/value pairs wouldn't be THAT hard.
    Note Automator could also help here -- it has an action "Set IPTC Tags":
    Set IPTC Tags
    This action will apply the chosen IPTC tags to the Aperture images passed from the previous action.
    Input: (Aperture Image)
    Options: You can tab between the various text fields in the Action View. Select the checkboxes next to the text fields whose value you wish to apply. Checkboxes will automatically be selected upon text entry into a field.
    Result: (Aperture Image)
    This is just building blocks -- don't expect me to guide you how to write it -- but with experimentation this shouldn't be too hard if you have AppleScript and/or Automator experience. The latter is more approachable for the novice. The former is more powerful.

  • How to insert image into table and to in Oracle 9i intermedia?

    Mr Lawrence,
    I want to ask something:
    I use Oracle 9i intermedia
    If i use this script:
    CREATE TABLE images (
    file_name VARCHAR2(100) NOT NULL,
    image ORDSYS.OrdImage
    then
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY imgdir AS 'd:/data';
    then
    INSERT INTO images (file_name, image)
    VALUES ('tree', ORDSYS.ORDImage.init('file','imgdir','tree.jpg' ));
    I put tree.jpg in directory d:/data in my hard drive.
    Is my tree.jpg file had already get in to my images table?
    I'm little confuse, because when i check my table with this script:
    select file_name, i.image.getWidth() from images i;
    it's show that my i.image.getWidth() for file_name tree is empty.. that mean my tree.jpg doesn't get in to my table.. am i correct?
    N also i want to ask how to display to screen all of my image from images table?
    Is it posible Oracle 9i intermedia to support display image from table?
    How?
    thanks Mr Lawrence

    -- First step would be to create a directory in oracle and map it to the folder where your image resides.
    create directory image_dir as *'c:\image_dir';*
    Then you would have to use a procedure to insert the image in your table. SO first create a table to hold the image. Note that you have to use a BLOB to insert the image.
    CREATE TABLE test_image
    ID NUMBER,
    image_filename VARCHAR2(50),
    image BLOB
    Now let's write the procedure to insert the image in the table above.
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE insert_image_file (p_id NUMBER, p_image_name IN VARCHAR2)
    IS
    src_file BFILE;
    dst_file BLOB;
    lgh_file BINARY_INTEGER;
    BEGIN
    src_file := BFILENAME ('image_DIR', p_image_name);
    -- insert a NULL record to lock
    INSERT INTO temp_image
    (ID, image_name, image
    VALUES (p_id, p_image_name, EMPTY_BLOB ()
    RETURNING image
    INTO dst_file;
    -- lock record
    SELECT image
    INTO dst_file
    FROM temp_image
    WHERE ID = p_id AND image_name = p_image_name
    FOR UPDATE;
    -- open the file
    DBMS_LOB.fileopen (src_file, DBMS_LOB.file_readonly);
    -- determine length
    lgh_file := DBMS_LOB.getlength (src_file);
    -- read the file
    DBMS_LOB.loadfromfile (dst_file, src_file, lgh_file);
    -- update the blob field
    UPDATE temp_image
    SET image = dst_file
    WHERE ID = p_id AND image_name = p_image_name;
    -- close file
    DBMS_LOB.fileclose (src_file);
    END insert_image_file;
    Now execute the procedure to insert the image.
    EXECUTE insert_image_file(1,'test_image.jpg');
    Thanks,

  • Changing master images in aperture and iphoto

    hi
    am i right in thinking that there is no way of altering my original (master) images (located in my 'pictures' folder) in both aperture ans iphoto? I want to be able to see the changes in the original images in this folder, and have these altered images available for other applications, such as itunes. i don't want to have to export altered images from aperture/iphoto, but rather just have one copy of each image. will i need to use preview for basic changes or a third party application such as graphic converter/photoshop for more advanced permanent changes to the originals?
    thanks

    hi
    i have checked the following options: 'maintain previews for project' for my project, and 'share previews with ilife and iwork' in the general preferences. i have then altered the colours of an image in an album for this project and the thumbnail and image in aperture update OK, but nothing changes in finder, and when i open the image in preview it it is still the same as the master image, rather than the image with changed colour. am i doing something wrong?

  • I am importing 1000's of images into iPhoto and somehow have 5700 trying to download to Photostream. How can I stop this from happening?

    Setting up a new iMac and importing 1000's of pic's from various backup sources.
    Right now I have about 5700 images trying to download into Photostream as soon as I turn it on on the iMac
    I've tried logging into icloud.com and clicking my username to go to the "advanced" setting but the advance button is gone!
    Any suggestions? I still have a lot of pics to upload
    Thanks in advance

    Go to iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane and uncheck the Automatic Upload checkbox.
    Then close and reopen iPhoto.

  • Can't imoprt images into Aperture from CF card

    I have just installed Aperture into my Mac Book Pro. I connected my card reader (with compact flash card) to a usb port which opened Aperture. I selected "import images" and Aperture correctly identifies my camera (Canon 5D) and CF reader, but displays "No images to import. Yet I am able to import these same image files (RAW) into iPhoto or Adobe Bridge with no problem. I have deleted & re-installed Aperture with the same results. Help!

    This post was a couple weeks ago and the original poster may have found a solution already. But, I'm posting to offer a different explanation for others that may have the same problem.
    When I get the "No images to import", it is because Aperture is not done scanning the CF card. Some cards apparently take longer to scan, especially the larger cards. I had never seen this error before I bought larger CF cards. Compact Flash cards that are 2GB-4GB never give me this problem as the cards are scanned quickly.
    I usually go do something else and come back. I don't think it has taken more than a couple minutes before the "No images to import" button changes to reflect the number of images on the card and enabled. My largest CF is 16GB. If you have something larger, I would probably give it 5-10 minutes.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Merging ipad iphoto images into aperture

    In order to lighten my load while travelling, can RAW images imported into an Ipad, using Iphoto, then be moved to my Imac where they can  be merged into Aperture

    I also got a lot of duplicates. They were the edited versions of images. Some looked identical to the originals, though, and I don't recall ever modifying them but I have assumed I opened those images (as if to edit them) at some point. I have done that from time to time without saving any adjustments.
    On import to Aperture, the originals and edited versions were stacked for me. That made it easy to find and delete the ones that were identical to the originals while keeping the edited ones I still wanted, I just looked for stacks of two.
    The originals were given the keyword "iPhoto Original" and the modified ones "iPhoto Edited". If that's the case for you too, you should be able to sort and delete them quickly if you don't want to keep any of them.

  • Dragging images into Aperture (without creating a new Project)

    Hi All.
    I am trying to pump out a slideshow and I am (in some cases) dragging an image from a desktop folder into a ALBUM in Aperture in which I want the photo. This Album is in a FOLDER with the name of the slideshow along with a number of other Albums in which I am organizing data for this project.
    Aperture is creating a new Project in this folder every time I do this. They are labeled "Untitled Project", "Untitled Project(1)" etc. If I delete the Projects then the image is deleted from the Album that I want it in.
    Is there a convenient solution for this? In some cases the image is already in Aperture but I don't have the time to go hunting for it and in fact it may not be int there.
    Can I somehow create a "Dump Project" that will accept all these new images so that I don't clutter up the space with all the new Projects? Would I do this by dragging and dropping the individual images that are in each of these Projects to the Dump Project?
    Any advice that doesn't involve switching out horses would be really welcome.
    Thanks in advance!
    - Jon

    You can't import to an Album, only to a project. Every pic in the Library is in a project. It has to be. If you drag to an Album it will make new project to hold the file. So, don't drag to an Album, make a project and drag to that.
