  • Epson Claria Ink Replacement

Thought I'd check-in here to see if anyone had any recommendations/experience with Epson printer Claria ink replacement. I've done some looking into this and the practice (of going with OEM replacement cartridges/ink) seems fairly ubiquitous/common. I'm looking to replace the cartridges in one of my Artisan 1430 printers and the following after-market ink sites seems to have decent replacement kits for this printer [links removed by moderator]
Has anyone else done this? Anyone have any experience with the above vendors and their dye sets? Any issues I should be aware of before following through with this?

The big drawback is in ICC profiling. Epson's inbuilt profiles (and third-party paper profiles for an Epson printer) all assume you're using Epson's ink, so the proofs will usually be out of whack when you're using off-brand cartridges or refills. I tried a bunch and typically the red/cyan tones were all over the place, so skies were... amusing. If you have a colorimeter you can always build your own custom profile for any combination of printer/ink/paper, but most people don't.
Personally I use off-brand inks on the old Stylus printer that whaps out stuff like invoices and it's never been a problem in terms of clogging up (though the ink levels on Epson's monitor utility are sometimes a little skittish). I'll buy whatever's cheapest, don't care. In the past I tried home refills, but it's a lot of faffing about and the unbranded cartridges aren't much more. I do have one of the little "chip resetter" tools so I can stop the thing wailing at me if Cyan's empty.
The printer I use for photos gets Claria ink, mostly so I know the soft proofs are accurate, but since everything that comes out of that tray is destined for sale, quality and reliability matter - someone asks for a reprint in 6 months, they expect identical colors. I could probably get the same results with off-brand ink if I calibrated everything and ran a bunch of tests, but it's not worth the hassle.

  • HP 7510 Ink replacement

Can you program the printer to use the main black XL cartridge for photos as well
My HP 654 SETUP needs replacing ,it seems a bit strange to have to put 2 different black cartridges in .
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
Yes, it has TWO black cartridges and the bigger one is REAL black, a smaller one called Photo black. You can setup your printer to use black as default BUT it still consumes other color inks slowly, specially during warming up process. To use black only, please use the following steps:
    (a) Double click Printer icon on desktop (or Click Start > All Programs > HP > HP Photosmart ..> HP Photosmart ....)
    (b) Click Set Preferences,
    (c)  Click Advanced,
    (d) Under Printer Features select Black Ink only
    (e) Click Ok/Apply to get out.
    Regards.

  • HP3070 cannot print after new ink replacement

I have replaced the Black (564XL Black) the first time a few weeks ago for my HP3070A and it can print normally.
However when the color ink levels show low levels a few days ago; I replaced them with the new inks 564XL (Y / M / C).
But the printer does not print and come up with Error Message: "Use SETUP ink cartridges".
When I put back the old Setup ink cartridges, the printer also cannot print and came up with the same error mesage.
Now I am stuck here and just cannot use the printer.
What should I do to overcome this problem?

Are you getting the same error message to use setup ink cartridges?  Here is a really simple step:
Remove the ink cartridges while the printer is still powered on.
Remove the power cord from the back of the printer and also from the wall and wait one minute (a complete power-drain on the printer removes false errored states, and when you unplug the printer while it is still on, a hard reset can help stop any internal processes that are stuck).
Clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges and their associated contact on the printhead while you wait.
Plug the power cord back into the wall first and then plug the other end into the printer so it will power on automatically.
When the printer asks to for the ink cartridges, insert them one at a time and try to print something.
If that doesn't work, don't forget that even though your printer may be out of warranty, the ink cartridges are likely not which still grants you some free support regarding any problems you are having with the new cartridges.  US residents can call 1-800-474-6836 or click here for a number in your region.

  • Good, inexpensive printer (and ink replacement cartridges)

I am in search of a good, easy to use, with inexpensive ink cartridge replacements, printer for a Mac Mini. I have looked at so many on my own, I am now totally confused. Since I also now have to buy an external CD/DVD, I guess that may or may not play a huge part in what I can actually spend for the printer.
Do they come with connection wires?? I`ve not a clue. My Mini does have Firewire, or doesn`t that matter? I think I read somewhere on the boards that hooking the external CD/DVD is best through the Firewire ... yes, no? Does the CD/DVD come with connection wires?
I guess these are enough question for now. Any knowledgeable help would be greatly appreciated. I didn`t see this topic in the list .. though I may have missed it.
    Thanks in advance .. Murphy

Typically, printers do not come with connection cables. Most require a USB cable. One cable source is http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?spcDB=10303&spcWord=USB+Cable&keywo rd=usb .
On printers, I prefer printers that have individual color tanks, so I can replace specific colors as they run out. However, the lower cost end of printers typically have combination tanks - these aren't bad, just you replace it when one color is empty. I've been very pleased with Canon printers with good functions, good print quality, reasonable prices, good support. Online, check Amazon.com, Newegg.com, or use one of the price comparison engines like nextag.com, shopping.com, pricegrabber.com, etc. Amazon and Newegg both have user comments which I've found helpful. On Canon, I'd look at any of the 3 Pixma IPxxxx models, which they have 3 under $100.

  • Ink replacement? Pixma MG2520

    I have a Pixma MG2520.
Do I HAVE to replace the color cartridge if it is low or out of one color, in order for the machine to print in just black?
    Put another way.
If the color cartridge is empty will the machine print in black only.
    Thanks
    Sic

    Hi Sicnarf,
Both ink cartridges will need to be installed in the printer in order to print, even if one of the ink cartridges is low or out of ink. Since your color ink cartridge is out of ink, you can disable the ink level detection function of the printer so that any low/out of ink warnings are not displayed on the printer and then continue to print.
To disable the ink level detection function of the printer, please press and hold down the STOP/RESET or RESUME/CANCEL button on the printer for at least 7 seconds, then release it.  Once the low/out of ink cartridge is replaced with a Canon genuine ink cartridge, the ink level detection function of the printer will be re-enabled.
You can also set the printer to print using only the black ink cartridge.  To do this, please follow the steps located here.
    Hope this helps!

  • Ink replacement

My HP wireless 6500 all in one printer was low on all 4 ink cartridges. Went to the store and bought the correct ones and installed them. The printer would only reconize the black one. I performed a clean head procedure several times, took them out and reinstalled them and still nothing. I had to go back to the store and purchase another set (color ones) and once they were installed the printer reconized them. The only problem was the Cyan level was showing 1/2 for a new cartridge.
My question is how can I get money back for the first set of faulty cartridges?
    Thank you...

    @anchor08
You'll need to contact HP phone support. You can first check the Warranty Ends Date on the cartridges (YYYY/MM/DD)

  • Compatible ink replacement 564 for a 5520 series printer

I have a HP 5525 of the 5520 serie. I  replaced the 670 original cartridge with a 564 (compatible with 5520 on the package). Now i am getting an incompatible cartridge message.
Why and how to fix it?

    Hi,
No, 564 is not compatible with Deskjet 5525. 564 is compatible with Photosmart 5525. Please use the following table:

  • Ink replacement- unprotecting cartridges

I need to unprotect my ink cartridges as my old printer died with fairly new cartridges, whichm my new printer it will not accept.

As far as I know there is no way to unprotect cartridges once they have been marked as protected.
If the cartridges are still in warranty you might contact HP and see if they will help.  In the US call 1-800-HPINVENt, elsewhere see the contact information here.
