Auto install VPn client via Cisco concentrator, anyone done this before?

This is beginning to frustrate me, I must be missing something.
I have downloaded update-5.0.01.0600-major-K9.zip and unzipped the 3 files to an internal website the VPN users can access. The 3 files are:
binary_config.ini
sig.dat
vpnclient-win-msi-5.0.01.0600-k9.exe
On the concentrator I have added http://webserver/vpn/5.0/
user only get a manual method to update when they connect, I have also tried
http://vogbs010/vpn/5.0/vpnclient-win-msi-5.0.01.0600-k9.exe
Which doesn't work
All want to try and get the Auto-install screen pop which tells the user the update has been downloaded. I'm testing this on VPN client version 4.8.
Hope you can advise.

You should be able to install the 64 bit version of the Cisco VPN software
Latest version is vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9.exe
You should download and run MCPR.exe first, to clean out any traces of McAfee products that conflict with Cisco VPN.
http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
If there is a problem with vbscript registration on the system - there is a fixit tool from Microsoft for that:
MicrosoftFixit50842.msi
(Using Shrew VPN is a possible workaround.)

  • Streaming video in Red5 - anyone done this before?

    Hi all,
Just a quick question.  I have setup a red5 streaming server and am having some difficulties getting the video inside captivate 5 to stream peoperly.  I have been through as many help tutorials as I can find, but am still getting very mixed results.  I have specified streaming in the video management option within captivate and given the url - I have tried several different url's, both with and without the .flv extension.  Sometimes, the video will stream, but only very rarely.  When the video does stream, it still writes the "connection error" string over the video, even though the video plays!
Has anyone else used the red5 server to stream video within captivate?
    Thanks for any adive/tips!

  • Time Machine - Amazon S3.  Has anyone done this before?

I'm considering setting up a system that mirrors my entire time machine disk to amazon s3. This would allow me to "pull down" a new fully intact time machine disk if something happened the disk I'm currently using for time machine. I was thinking this basic workflow would be work:
    Backup:
    1. Generate files that are backed up by Time Machine as usual
    2. launchd/cron job that runs something like s3cmd's sync command every night to copy the entire contents of Backup.backupdb on my time machine drive to amazon S3
    Restore:
    1. Attempt to restore from physical disk using normal time machine methods
    2. If this fails, buy another disk and retrieve Backup.backupdb from S3, then restore as normal.
Just wanted to see if anyone here already has this (or something similar) set up. I've been googling for a while and can't really seem to find and prior writeup of this "hybrid" backup solution.

That will take forever, more or less, and be quite "iffy."
Plus, any problem on the "primary" backup will be copied to the "secondary" one. And, others may creep in.
Your best bet for large offsite backups is a portable external HD. See #27 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum) for some suggestions.

  • Has anyone done this before? (using Win32 dll with Java)

I was wondering if anyone has succesfully completely embedded a Win32 DLL and having it launched in a Java backend using JNI? It would seem that WinMain() would be the barrier to doing this. I'm talking about containing the entire frontend inside a DLL and having it launched using a Java backend.

    1. As far as I know, dll's don't have winmains.
    2. Your wording is rather imprecise; how about getting rid of "frontend"and "backend", and asking your question again?
(The JNI features of java allow either C or java to be the "main program; C can call java, and java can call C.)

  • I have an issue with Iphoto, it has told me to reinstall it has anyone done this? Can you help?

    Hello
I have an erro message come up when I try to start up iphoto, it suggests I reinstall it. Has anyone done this before?
I originally down loaded iphoto by disc 3 or 4 years ago, i do not have the disk anymore.
Can i uninstall iphoto and then buy it from the app store and will it keep my photos or will i have to reinstall them as well?
    Many thanks someone!
    Rosie

Yes you can purchase iPhoto 11 on the App Store. It will update your Library. But, as always, make a back up first.

  • Tune2fs reserve space?? Anyone done this?

I came across this nice article from TuxRadar: Command Line Tricks for Smart Geeks
    http://www.tuxradar.com/content/command-li...cks-smart-geeks
I read this and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this:
    Reclaim disk space
Filling a partition to 100% can have an unpleasant effect on your system. When services and other programs cannot write to their log files, or cannot save data in /var, you could be in trouble. These programs won't be able to save their data, and typically quit out (or, in some extreme cases, crash dramatically!). To avoid this, the ext2 and ext3 filesystems reserve 5% of their capacity for only root processes to use. This is a good idea, but 5% is a lot on large drives - for instance, it's 25GB on a 500GB drive. Also, there is no need to reserve any space on a filesystem not used for root files, such as /home.
The good news is that not only is this 5% not hardcoded into the filesystem, it can be changed on the fl y without disturbing the your data and files. Tune2fs is used to tune various parameters of an ext2 (or ext3) filesystem. It can be used to change the volume label or the number of mounts between forced execution of fsck and a host of other, more esoteric settings, but the options we are interested in here are -m and -r. The former changes the percentage of filesystem blocks reserved for the root user, while the latter uses an absolute number of blocks. So:
    tune2fs -m 2 /dev/sda1
reduces the reserved area to 2% of the filesystem, which may be more appropriate for if you have a large / or /var filesystem. If you're using a drive of 500GB or larger, this is the best option.
    This line of code:
    tune2fs -r 0 /dev/sda1
sets the filesystem to have no reserved blocks, a good setting for /home that doesn't need a reserved area for the superuser.
My root partition is only 20gb but my home partition is 718gb, I thought doing this would be a good ideal since going by the article I probably have like 40gb of reserve on my /home partition. The problem is I have all my data on this partition and do not want to risk loosing anything even though I have most of it backed up. So I was wondering has anyone done this before?
    Thanks

Yep. I did it on all of my external drives, but I came to experience some weird behaviour ( can not recall exactly what is was now) when I changed from 5% to 0%.
Try 1% - works nice for me.

  • Mavericks VPN dropouts with native VPN client and Cisco IPSec

Since update to Maverics I am experiencing VPN dropouts with native VPN client and Cisco IPSec
I am connecting via a WIFI router to a remote VPN server
The conenction is good for a while but eventually it drops out.
I had Zero issues in mountain lion and only have issues since the update to 10.9
I had similar issues in teh past with an unrelaibel wifi router but i am using a Verizon Fios router and it has worked impecably until mavericks
    My thoughts are:
1 -issue with mavericks  ( maybe the app sleep funciton affecting eithe VPN or WIFI daemons)
2- Issue with  cisco router compaitibility or timing with Cisco IPSEC
3- Issue with WIFI itself on mavericks - some sort of WIFI software bug
    Any thousuggestions?

  • Thinking about getting a new iMac to use as the main computer.  Has anyone done this?  What is your experience and recommendations?

We have a 2009 MBP, 2010 MBP, 2011 MBA, an IPAD 2, and several ipods.  Currently, my 2009 MBP is the main computer, holding all the music and pictures.  This has used up the majority of the available storage and definitely slows it down some.  I do back up the full computer to a backup drive and also remove the large movie files to another external drive.  I'm thinking about getting a new iMac to use as the main computer.  Has anyone done this?  What is your experience and recommendations?
I look forward to all responses.
    Thanks,
    Brad

Thanks for your response.  I look forward to hopefully learning something new here.
A good share of my music was added via my CDs, but now everything is added via itunes and occasionally amazon.  Almost all my pictures and video are added through my cameras via iphoto although I have added some with the 'add image to iphoto library' function also.

This is a copy of ONEof the keys  in the registry I changed  as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR  software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others  they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so  I downloaded the software and installed again.
Sorry, just this minute went to insert image  and it is giving me a message saying this sort of content  is not allowed?.
The most recent key I altered is in: HKey _local _machine. System\class - 4D36E965-E325-11CEBFC1-08002BE10318. Upper Filter data: Upper filter NTIDrvr  SiRem GEARAspiWDN.

  • A particular network user can't login to a mac in a classrom but other network users can. Then the network user can login to other identical macs in same classroom. Anyone seen this before?

A particular network user can't login to a mac in a classrom but other network users can. Then the network user can login to other identical macs in same classroom. Anyone seen this before? It has happen twice. Two different teachers in two different classrooms entering the correct user name and passwords and computer won't allow them to login. Then they try in different computers in same classroom and have no problem login.

Yes. I can login with a test user. And any other network user can login as well to this particular mac. Actually the mac has bootcamp and boots into either mac or windows. The same user entering the same login username and password can login into the windows side, but not the mac side.
I had this same issue last semester in another classroom, another mac and a different teacher. This summer I reformatted and imaged that mac and I asked that teacher to login today to that reimagened mac and she had no problem today doing so.

  • Screen is "half out." Anyone seen this before, anything I can do?

    Hello,
I am a first time contributor to the Apple Support Communities. I have a 2006/2007 era MacBook pro that the screen is half out. I would like to get this fixed for my wife to use as her desktop, but I would like some guidance before I take it into a Genius Bar. Has anyone seen this before? Is it an easy (inexpensive) fix or is it not worth it (given the age of the machine). Any help would be beneficial. The machine runs awesome, I can use it, as long as i use the top 1/3rd of the screen.
    Thank You,

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Restart / Reset  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Backing up, Updating and Restoring >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you try all these Steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step... Be sure to make an appointment first...

Has anyone done this update? Is this update worth it? what are the main features of this updates?

What version are you on now ? If you are on 5.1.0 then the update to 5.1.1 is very small - from here :
Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
Fixes an issue where 'Unable to purchase' alert could be displayed after successful purchase
If you are on an earlier iOS version then you will get the intermediate updates as well e.g.
    iOS 5.1 : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1504
    iOS 5.0.1 : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1472
