Auto log-in has gone away

Aloha.
I am up and running with most current versions of Safari in Lion. There are a variety of sites I visit, some free, some subscribed, which require log-in. Prior to moving to Lion/Safari 5.1, I could return to these sites, and I would auto log-in. Now, I have to present my credentials every time. Any idea why they did this?

Quit Safari.
Open Keychain Access   /Applications / Utilites
Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the keychains for the sites you have problems logging in.
Relaunch Safari. Make sure User names and passwords is selected in Safari / Preferences - Autofill.
Navigate to a site, enter your login data, click Yes when prompted. That should create a new keychain for you.
If not, click Keychain First Aid from the Keychain Access menu bar. That may help also.

Well Bababooey if you're comparing yourself to a Apple Genius Bar then you should already know my answer, your snarky remark get a snarky reply.  Why would I go to a salesperson to fix my computer problem when I can go directly go to the source itself.  I used to sell Apple computers over 8 years ago and was apple certified before the Genius bar existed. If I am to go about fixing an issue I can't fix on my own I will go to the source itself meaning Apple's programmers and developers - being UI UX Developer myself I know they should have QA'd all platforms and troubleshooted any arising issues.
This was also the first time in the 20 years I've been using a Mac that I even attempted to go on this forum which i thought would put me in connection with a certified Apple representative.  This turned out to be a complete waste of time just being a public forum with no Apple employee involved.  I was hoping to find a quick fix but in turn I was only frustrated with stupid responses such as yours that were in no way an answer to my original question.
BTW I fixed the issue on my own and without your help or Apples help. I'm glad if all forums point here regarding this issue because I now have the answer. The answer I was looking for from someone earlier was as simple as this {Download Maverick and reinstall the platform - it will take an hour to do but afterward 10.9.2 was installed and my computer is now able to shutdown and restart without having to do a hard boot.}  No more software update bar at top and no problems with my drive which I told both you and Grant - I know my computer better than you and I've probably been using them longer than you.
So again Babowa you were so wrong...... and I am right.
Again anyone having the same problem, I suggest reinstalling Maverick and you'll be suprised 10.9.2 will work fine.

Does someone knows if we'll be able to modificate someday factory EQ through iTunes to hear the bassman ?
    Regards and Merry Christmas.

It's not possible to modify the EQ settings in the iPod.
Apple has not made any announcements regarding this feature and if it will ever change.

I include in my message to recipient that I'm attaching something, then I forget to attach. There was an alert that reminded me to add the attachment, but it has disappeared. How do I get it back?

From the Menu Bar select '''Tools-Options-Composition-General'''
Check the box to check for missing attachments.
No menu bar? Press the alt key.

  • Crop tool now displays a Diagonal.  The "apply during import" panel has gone away!!  Any help appreciated!!

My Crop Tool now displays a Diagonal instead of a "Rule of Thirds".  I do not know why or how to correct.
Secondly, the "Apply During Import" portion of the right hand panel has disappeared.   Thus I am unable to use custom setting while importing.  I don't really know if this happened during upgrade to LR5.4 or not.
    Any help greatly appreciated!!!

You probably pressed the O key which cycles through the crop overlays when the crop tool is enabled.
Click Tools / Crop Guide Overlay in Develop to see the various choices.

  • HT204408 My applications folder has a black question mark on it at the bottom of my screen. I do not know what error I made, but my fan effect of the previous applications has gone away. Can I get some help with this?

One day ago I inadvertantly removed my applications folder. In it's place is a folder with a black question mark which appeared after I attempted to open up the applications file. Also, previously when I clicked on the file applications would open in a fan display. Could I please get some assistance with this?

    ...removed my applications folder.
    From where? And to where?
If you trashed it and emptied the trash, what backup, if any, do you have? If it's still in the Trash, move it back.
If no backup, reinstall Snow, which will give you the version as of the DVD you use, then update back to 10.6.8, and run all other needed updates, including any security updates. This should save all your third party programs, as well as settings.
The white puff of smoke is nothing, it only means you moved it out of the Dock. If you still have it, or had it, as soon as you open it it would reappear in the Dock. The item in the Dock is only a kind of alias.

  • HT204150 I had a backup in iCloud dated 8-23-2013.  When I updated my iPhone, it seems as though all my saved info has gone away.  Is there any way to get that info back?

I backed my iPhone up on 08-23-2013.  I lost my phone and I had to get another one. When I went retrieve my info it is was no longer there.  Is there a way to retrieve?

Check the iOS version on your new phone (Settings>General>About>Version).  It must be the same or higher as the one you backed up or you won't be able to access the backup without first updating your phone.

  • Safari has gone away. Forever?

Ok, so I was having issues with my safari and I deleted it all. Now I am trying to reinstall safari from my disc and nothing happens. The download completes successfully but safari does not appear anywhere on the computer. Anywhere! I don't know what to do.
I am on my iPad, I have no way to get on a browser, safari was my only one.

Assuming you're on 10.5.8 and that the version you trashed was 5.0.2 -
this command in terminal will download the correct Safari install package to your Home folder
    curl -O http://appldnld.apple.com/Safari5/061-8789.20100907.Pre3E/Safari5.0.2Leopard.dmg
You need to open Terminal from Applications/Utilities/ and paste the above in there, then press enter.
It'll take a while, you'll see scary-looking code that just tells you how the download's going, and when it's done - you'll find the install pkg in the Home folder of your account.
Safari crashed before, so of course it may again - if so, you can get firefox the same way.

  • How to abort planar tracker when the "Abort" button has gone away?

Sometimes the screen is no longer grayed-out while the tracker is working, and there doesn't seem to be ANY way to abort at that point...  On a long shot in 5k, this can mean being stuck in a useless track for up to 30 minutes.  Surely there must be a keyboard shortcut or something, but nothing I've tried works... escape key, undo key, clearing all tracking keyframes, pause button, space bar.... you name it.  Even deleting that primary grade layer... and still Speedgrade is stuck tracking something that doesn't even exist any more.

They actually do pay attention to these, and the posts they get do play a part (though clearly not the only one) in the choices of what gets worked on. The more they get, the likelier it gets attention. PLEASE feel free to post. I did (and perhaps multiple times over the months ... ) about the not shall we say perfect state of the scopes in CS6 and the first CC release. And posted the odd ... um ... thread here about that, and a couple other things or five or six. Well, the new scopes I find rather more usable and Dennis was thrilled to show them to me in the demo at NAB last year. I was kinda wondering if he'd rather grab my throat instead, but he was just thrilled to show me the new toys ... tools ... well, whatever they are.
And something you can invoke NEEDS some way to un-invoke it.

  • How to detect 'publisher gone away'

I've written a simple publish/subscribe solution using a topic as opposed to a queue paradigm. I start the server, establish a JMS destination, etc., etc., then start the client last (of course). All is well.
Now imagine the server gets stopped for some reason. The client carries on regardless. The problem, though, is that when the server restarts, if it tries sending a message to the client, the client never receives it - presumably because the publish/subscribe connection has been lost ??
Is there a simple way (code snippet ?) of the client detecting that it has lost the connection to the publisher it originally connected to ? Some sort of polling mechanism in a separate thread perhaps ?
    Gary Roussak

Thanks all for your attention so far - but I'm still struggling.
I certainly believe all the advice you are generously giving me at the moment, but am not sure how it is relevant to me. I am sure I'm probably being stupid here - but as I say, I'm unfamiliar with the real innards of JMS.
Can I ask you to bear with me whilst I try again to explain the detail of my problem ? And, by the way, the problem is not necessarily about detecting that the JMS provider has gone away, but in getting the subscriber to re-connect successfully.
My JMS provider is J2EE itself, i.e. I'm using J2EE 1.3.1 which has its own classes to implement the JMS API.
My solution is extremely unsophisticated at this stage, based as it is on the SimpleTopicPublisher/SimpleTopicSubscriber example code in a JMS tutorial from earlier this year.
I start the J2EE server and then create a 'Topic' (e.g. 'MyTopic').
I now run up the Publisher client I've created. Think of it as a basic Swing GUI which allows the operator to write a message and transmit it. The Publisher does the usual stuff: establish initial context, establish topic conn factory, lookup the topic name, create connection, create session, create publisher, start connection. And then it sits there waiting for an operator to publish. It is coded to properly clear up all JMS resources when it exits.
Next I run up the Subscriber client. It sits invisibly in the background. Set up is a mirror image of the Publisher except of course it creates a subscriber object instead of a publisher object. And that's it - it idles, waiting for onMessage() to be called. The connection is left permanently started. The only extra is this: instead of using your onException() approach, every five seconds, my Subscriber loops around testing to see if it can still get an initial context and then a factory object - temporary ones, not the same as the ones I've already instantiated. Yes - I know this is a horrible way to do it - but it's all I could think of before you told me about onException(). Let's refer to it as my 'test loop'. If it passes, I know everything is OK, if it fails, I know something has gone wrong. And as far as that goes, it DOES work.
I now publish a message and the Subscriber gets it. No problems.
OK. I now quit my Publisher. The test loop in the Subscriber doesn't fail, but that's not a problem because, if I restart my Publisher some seconds or minutes later and try to publish a message, the Subscriber gets it. So I can suffer the Publisher going down without any impact at all on the Subscriber.
I now quit my Publisher. But then I also follow that with a 'j2ee stop' as well so as to simulate the J2EE server box suffering a major problem. The test loop in the Subscriber now fails: it establishes initial context, but fails to establish a factory. Quite understandable. In the meantime, the test loop continues going round every 5 seconds, trying to set up a new initial context, factory, topic, connection, session, etc. And, whilst J2EE remains down, the loop repeatedly fails. Just what I wanted.
Now I restart J2EE (and also start my Publisher client again). However, the test loop in the Subscriber never recovers, i.e. it always establishes initial context, but never re-instantiates a factory object (and thus cannot do the remaining setup steps either, thus it never receives any more published messages of course). And I can't understand why this is the case - why shouldn't the test loop recover fully if I'm doing all the setup steps again ? If I start a brand new Subscriber client process, it works fine. But what's the difference ? New process id ? new threads ? Am I trying to do something that would not be expected to work ? Why ?
And why is this approach important to me ? Because the user whose PC is running the Subscriber client should not be expected to monitor the health of the client. If the client dies, software should be able automate its restart.
Does this explain the situation more ?

  • Updated to 10.5.4 on my Air - but the SOUND has gone!

I just updated my OS today, and as a result of the update, the volume control has gone away. There is no sound on the laptop. On the Sound menu - it says it does not find any output devices!
    Can you help?

    Hi,
